Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Recap & Honest Review | Mom Tok

hi guys and welcome back to my YouTube channel it is Zachary reality and you're watching Zachary reality today we are going to be recapping breaking down and talking about the Secret Lives of Mormon wives on Hulu all Eight Episodes dropped last Friday I binged it last weekend so this review is a few days late so maybe some things have changed in my opinion because so much has happened on social media since the show ended and there's been a lot of Revelations some family members commenting on the show so my thoughts are like a little different than maybe when I first watched it so I apologize for not filming a reaction like immediately but I watched the show over the weekend and I loved it The Secret Lives of Mormon wives like what an amazing show I need more I need more now like this is a show that I think everybody fell in love with and I'm not surprised it was just so riveting so interesting I literally want to book a flight to Utah immediately I just loved it so much so last week I did go to an event to celebrate the show um that Hulu put together and I did interview Taylor Leila Michaela and Jesse so if you have not seen those interviews they are on my channel I did interview them and meet all of the ladies except for Jen I didn't get to meet her before I saw the show so I wish that I could relive that event because now I watch the show and I'm like oh my gosh and I didn't meet Macy either I didn't get to meet her but all the girls I met were lovely even Whitney I did not know what to expect with her going into it and I really enjoyed the dynamic of the show and all the girls so let's talk about it I have put some of my thoughts out there on Tik Tok already so maybe you have seen them my number one favorite on the show was Demi I just felt like she just said it how it is she was not scared to stand up for herself and she just called things for what they were she was straight up she was a loyal supportive friend and if you gave her bad energy she was going to call you out on it and we saw that a lot throughout the season sometimes she took an aggressive approach but I honestly thought it was necessary when Whitney was causing so many problems so like Demi for me was my number one I just loved watching her now she does have a bit of an age Gap with her husband but her husband is like 46 and she's 29 so the age Gap is only 17 years right which isn't like that crazy also her husband was on The Bachelorette he was on CL Crawley season can you believe that also her husband is hot oh my God have you seen that man I wish he films more he was so handsome and Demi also was breathtaking and beautiful I mean that girl is gorgeous I just have no notes for her watching her was just so much fun um moving on to Jesse who I will say is my second favorite on the show absolutely loved her I loved interviewing her last week I thought she had such a good vibe and it was just so easy to connect with her she was positive she was fun she has great hair I think it's clear that a lot of the girls go to Jesse's hair salon to get their extensions because they all had amazing hair like every single girl's hair looked phenomenal it's because of Jesse um Jesse also tried to move storyline a little bit I felt like she did was not afraid to confront Whitney she was very similar to Demi and that she did call things for what they were she is just a positive bright light like I felt like she gossiped a little bit but like everyone gossips in life including me right now I'm gossiping so it's just like I thought Jesse had an amazing first season and I would love to learn more about her and see more um someone else I really loved on the show was Lea she was one of the younger girls on the show she went through a divorce we saw that she had her divorce party which I thought was iconic um Lea I loved meeting last week she said that she has a boyfriend now so I think that there is more to explore with Lea in season 2 another girl on the show was let's talk about Taylor um Taylor really started off this show she was the center of mom talk she put these girls together there was so much camera time for Taylor in the beginning you know the first pilot was all about Taylor because you know that's kind of what got us to tune into the show the whole swinger Scandal the whole mom talk we met Taylor's boyfriend Dakota her baby daddy we saw Taylor give birth on the show she got arrested on the show we saw fights with her mom fights with her boyfriend fights with her friends her baby shower like Taylor gave so much that the first few episodes I feel like we're so focused around Taylor and a lot of the girls just kind of looked alike and then I think throughout the rest of the season we saw growth in Taylor and we kind of got to know all the other girls but I really appreciated the growth with Taylor cuz she started off the show so irresponsible I can understand why some of the girls had a problem with her like she did kind of out the swing Scandal which ended up being a blessing and disguise because it got them a show but I also think that you know her getting arrested was just like extremely immature of her to get drunk and be so reckless and like Taylor was a really Reckless friend for a while but we saw the growth of Taylor throughout the season where she was like actively trying to make changes in her life and like work on things and own up to her mistakes and solve her problems so it was a really interesting story to watch and you can kind of tell that all the girls really did rally around her and they all really support her which speaks a lot to her character CU I think it's easy to get jealous of whoever is the main star or like has the biggest whatever and I don't think Taylor is going to be the center of the show forever like I'm sorry Demi is coming for that Center spot because she is such a queen there's so many Dynamic personalities on the show it's not all about Taylor and I like that she can she found her way in the group because I feel like she brought them together but they also like included her and gave her a second chance and I just loved watching her friendships I thought it was really cool I didn't like watching her relationship with Dakota because it was very toxic I think they were really stressed about the baby um obviously it was at a wedlock it was right after the Scandal her mom had concerns a lot of her friends had concerns so I do think that Dakota is a little bit you know unhinged at times um Taylor did defend him on social media I also thought he was really fun when I met him I liked his energy I think Dakota is a good person but I do think he was really immature at the time and I think he was panicking about having a baby and I think he was way too jealous and like protective of Taylor where Taylor also was like not able to get over Jenna this girl in the past which we're going to get into soon so I felt like they just had a lot of things to work out and I feel like if they can work it out through therapy like maybe they can end up together but I definitely got the vibe on the show that Taylor was only staying with him because she was having his baby and she was almost just like waiting for some news to drop because she was still mad at what happened in the past so you know seems like Taylor and Dakota are all fine on social media now so I would just be interested to know like where they go season 2 and if their relationship really has grown and evolved cuz it was toxic at the time and I just don't like watching toxic relationships it stresses me out so I definitely hope that Taylor and Dakota you know really fix things and that she's not staying in this relationship just because she has a baby and I felt like Macy was really good friend to Taylor throughout the season I thought Macy was a good friend to everybody throughout the season Macy seems normal Macy seems kind she heard everyone out um she called everyone out on their BS maybe she was like a I don't even want to call her a pushover because I felt like she did stand up for herself and she called things out like her she never got involved in Dakota and Taylor's relationship it was a toxic relationship that she noticed and was trying to help her friend just like Taylor's mom who I really liked as well was trying to help Taylor like people who care about Taylor or letting her know that like there was a toxicness going on and like she was just trying to fix it I didn't really like how the show ended where Macy was calling this girl Jenna to get the tea because obviously Taylor's not going to call her Taylor's giving birth and then like the show ended and we never got the tea and now this girl Jenna just popped up on Tik Tok and she's going to do a story time when when um that's not Macy's fault I guess they're going to hold that for season two if you're making a season 2 can you do it sooner than later please like I wish that they had more to release I could have kept watching that like I thoroughly enjoyed every single episode it was such a good show like 10 out of 10 I'm also I am invested in the Mormon culture I am invested in Utah like I said I want to go to Utah now I think I went as a kid I want to go now I love like everything about the culture I find it so fascinating and um I just thought that Macy did a really good job like explaining that to everybody and like holding down the fort and like Bridging the Gap and she heard everybody out so I can't wait to see what happens next season please give it to us sooner rather than later um we can talk about we have two girls left to talk about we have to talk about Jen and Whitney um let's start with Whitney um I actually have stronger thoughts on Jen so I'm going to do Whitney first and then we'll get into Jen and Zach um Whitney definitely only moved back to Utah right because she wanted to be on the show she was offered the show um cuz she went to Hawaii she wanted to get away from everybody and then she joined the group just to benefit from being a part of the group without actually caring about anyone in the group I think it was evident that she only showed up when she wanted to everything was on her terms I mean when you have that many girls who seem reasonable like I don't really think they're trying to gang up on her like I think that there's that many girls who are frustrated with Whitney and are calling her out and have like tried to give her chances and she blows all of them she didn't want to be a part of the group she didn't want to be a friend to anybody and then she was just like constantly like playing victim I don't really know what was authentic about Whitney on the show it was really frustrating to watch her I mean even not going to Taylor's baby shower and then her being like well like why do I have to tell you well like um if I invited you to my baby shower or my birthday you need to tell me why you're not attending or if you're not attending you don't maybe don't say why if you are chicken you can't speak at least let me know because she thought they were friends so like yeah you owe her like a conversation or an explanation on why you didn't show up you don't just get to do whatever you want without consequences it's like if you had a friendship with someone you owe them the respect of having a conversation of why you're no longer friends or why you're upset or why you're taking space from them like you owe them that conversation I think it's so easy in this day and age to like cut people off and like pretend it wasn't there but like people's feelings were involved and it just felt like Whitney was messing with everyone's feelings and it was just really frustrating to watch her she ended up not going to the Vegas group um trip and she ended up like filming more scenes with her husband separating herself from the group I do think Whitney should come back next season but but I think she should like try and make amends like it seems like online she's living for this divide it seems like all the girls still feel the same way they do about Whitney but then it's also confusing because they're still making Tik toks with her and posting Tik toks with her and Whitney was at the event last week and I obviously went before I watched the show but I didn't notice any beef I mean a few of the girls did tease drama with Whitney but they were all able to be in a room with Whitney so I don't think they hate her I just think they see her for what she is which is just not someone that cares about any of them she cares about herself at least that's what it seems like obviously her husband and her had some drama and a lot of people had some things to say about him online you know come on guys we can't be like that um Whitney did open up about her husband's like porn addiction and I feel like that was sincere like I do feel like she tried to like form relationships with people and then when she realized that she wasn't the queen bee and things weren't going her way that's kind of when she started to retract you know the last person I want to talk about is Jen Affleck um she really triggered me a lot this season and it's crazy cuz she seems like the sweetest girl ever but she also seems like a girl who was brainwashed walked all over through her H thre her husband under the bus but also like was in a toxic relationship that she didn't know how to get out of it's so confusing cuz a lot of his family members have spoken out on social media about the show and about her her his family is upset with her so because I guess she aired it out on TV and made him look bad but like he made himself look bad why is he being so controlling and why is he screaming at her like all the time like what when he when she didn't know about the chi Andals and when she found out she left she cried and left because she felt bad and did the right thing and left and then he gambled all her money away the $2,500 and then she was going to move to New York with him and she pays for everything and then he acts like that and then she says that she comes from a poor family and I know there was some people who were saying no she wasn't looking down at her mom but like talking down at her family or whatever but like it did kind of seem like that the way she phrased it like my mom's a janitor and then Zach's mom or Zach's dad is the surgeon like I don't know like I know that there was two ways to look at that so I'm not going to bash her and her mom I'm sure that she loves her parents so I'm sorry but like it just felt like she was trying to be like I'm an a I'm an Affleck and then you marry into this Rich family and then you end up paying all the bills and you have no control so it's like at what cost is it to marry into a rich family you know marry into this athic family and you can't even choose who comes to your baby shower or whatever it was you know Jen was just really frustrating to watch I think that she just seemed really immature in her relationship on the show and like all the girls were trying to help her they were trying to talk sense into her and I felt like she got it and I even feel like in her interviews present day like she gets it now and she says that they're working on things it's been a year it was a wakeup call for Zach so I'm interested to see where they will go next season I do want all the girls back and maybe get a new girl in there as like a friend Dove or something I mean the show was just genius it was a genius concept I root for all of them even Jen and Whitney um but I really loved watching a lot of the other girls who I just named besides Jen and Whitney so much I fell in love with all six of those girls I thought they were so amazing and there is room to grow for Whitney and Jen and I will definitely give them another chance on season 2 I loved the show so much I really think it was something that came out of nowhere something different something we've never seen before as reality fans and just such a success so I can't wait to hear what you guys about the show let me know if you agree with my seems sweet and cool like nothing wrong with her but like I don't think that she was like a big reality star on the show like I just felt like she G she was friends with Whitney in the beginning even she got fed up so I think that really speaks to Whitney's character that even her BFF Michaela was getting Fade up Fed Up and obviously Michaela also had some health struggles I wish we heard more about that um but you know she she didn't really get much air time and there wasn't much to say but she seems like a really normal sweet cool girl so let me know your thoughts in the comments down
