teams that lose the Super Bowl sometimes have a hangover sometimes they miss the playoffs entirely a national pattern that looks a little like this one seemed to go out of their way not to pick San Francisco to come out of the NFC this year we'll see what San Fran showed last night and can the Jets find victory in Rogers at least walking you up the field in one piece let's go around the horn a debate that is scored with a mute button what a novel idea somebody else will use [Music] that we all know it fourth play of the jet season last year Aaron roders injury identity as legitimate and real and for Rogers how worrying was last night around the one to you I wasn't yeah I'm not that worried about Aaron Rogers I think he'll be fine but let's remember Tony there's a saying here in New York same old Jets I know the Jet fans hate that the jet organization hates that but when you watched that last night it felt like same old Jets all the hype around this defense you mentioned the eight straight scoring possessions by San Francisco the Jets hadn't done that in 45 years so last you know so last season the Achilles heel belonged to Aaron Rogers four plays in last night it was the defense which was supposed to be better somebody named Jordan Mason was dominating them Christian mcaffry one of their top weapons didn't even play I get it San Francisco is at a different level but come on if you want to talk Championship it begins with defense that did not look like a champ Tim CIS show you're shaking your head no did you not are you not worried after outcome look that 45 year thing that that's bad that was serb's first year on the beat that's a long time to go without without you know giving up that kind of those kind of scores but again they have the toughest assignment of anybody in the NFL and I include Kansas City in this going to San Francisco and starting your season there against the most physical team a team that just Prides itself they have a great receiving tight end who would rather block he'd rather he'd rather knock you on your butt than than go out and catch passes that's the mentality of San Francisco so the Jets uh the thing that does concern me though that I disagree with Frank about Rogers being okay 11 targets to Garrett Wilson 60 yards and an interception you you would have thought the way they started hey this is going to be something but it wasn't much and and that's got to be their big weapon or or they're in real trouble at that point Gordy Cronin game one of the Jets are you already worried not entirely about the defense yes not necessarily as much as with Aaron Rogers and the offense I think they will get that worked out but Tony this is what it looks like when you have a head-to-head matchup with a team that is a legitimate Super Bowl contender in the San Francisco 49ers that out scheme the Jets they usually out scheme a lot of other teams and the Jets who are trying to get there but defensively that's what what's holding them back you think they missed Assan reic yesterday two quarterback hits and one sack not a great performance from Robert solz defense a unit that finished third in yards in 2023 but on the flip side of that let's talk about Aaron roggers and any level of concern there I think he's got to show some ability to have the mobility you're never going to get the Aaron Rogers that was escaping the pocket and doing all the crazy things he did years ago in Green Bay but to me this was more than just rust maybe the sign of something a little bit more problematic that interception to Garrett Wilson he forced that ball this is a guy who's not thrown more than eight interceptions in a season and that one didn't look good to me but I do think that Rogers will be okay they have the fourth easiest strength of schedule in the NFL this year they just happened to get the Behemoth that they had to go you really put stock in strength of schedule when the season just started we don't know how good everybody is by the way there was a ban word in that answer ban words in a debate maybe something that we could pass along as well David Dennis Jr come on in here let's go around the horn on what you saw from Rogers and the Jet last night I I think we're all being a little bit too calm about what we saw from Rogers we're looking at the stats 167 yards but 65 or so of those yards were in the first drive and there was about another 65 in the other touchdown drive that was garbage time and every other um possession in the red game was about 30 yards total for that game that offense did not look good Aaron Rogers not look like a guy who could carry this team and I would be concerned if I'm one of those people who's been saying that this Jets team has won Aaron Rogers away from a super bowl or super bowl contention cuz they are not they have other holes to plug in and they got dominated on the off offensive line and the fact that they allowed 1.82 yards per carry before contact UM on the on the defense line then on the offensive line they couldn't get a running game off the ground this team has a lot of holes to plug in and Aaron Rogers does not look good enough to carry them Beyond those those deficiencies Frank I'll bring you back in here yeah I I think with the Aaron Rogers history it's his first real game in 22 months that's you know he's going to be somewhat Rusty but come on now the defense couldn't get off the field the Chets had the ball for 22 minutes I mean Tim I know you had a rough flight from Cleveland back to Dallas you know having to connect but you must be suffering from jet lag you're making it I get it's a tough job having to go into San Francisco Tim they got dominated they didn't lose on a last second field goal come on now the the high touted defense highly touted defense could not get off the field that's why they locally Frank you're in New York some of the local opinionator and papers pointing out Robert sala's record now as head coach of the New York Jets Salah has said 0 and one with Aaron Rogers is better than one and0 which is what they were last year without Aaron Rodgers we've been horn we'll move on niners right back where they left off even without mcaffrey 32 points a tick above what they averaged last year the defense was swarming McCaffrey's inactive status came with a little indication I about 90 minutes before kickoff it killed fantasy teams Jordan Mason talked about how he knew he was starting on Friday which raised some eyebrows 28 rushes there let's go around the horn to Tim keshaw on San Francisco's march to get back to the Super Bowl and go one step further this year Well I you know I think I have a great chance as far as telling uh Mason he's playing Friday every team is a little fast and loose with these injury reports maybe they just said be ready to play and they knew mcaffrey was not going to get a full load or maybe they told him mcaffry is not playing at all you you better be ready to go regard he was ready uh they didn't miss a beat there the the 49ers always have these offseason things this year it was auk and Trent Williams last year it's Samuel somebody's not happy the season starts and they they Crush you they run over people uh they're they're great on both sides of the ball that whatever the motivation is they've they've gotten closer and closer and now they've LED in overtime in the Super Bowl and and not w a Super Bowl they're ready whatever that last little step is they're poison hang of course uh Cy maybe you were part of a panel that looked like this panel everyone going out of their way oh it's got to be Green Bay it's got to be Detroit because you don't want to keep on picking San Francisco what did they show you yesterday well don't disrespect the NFC North both of those teams are still pretty good and probably deserving of that contention but they showed you yesterday that they can simplify things without having the NFL offensive player of the year playing in this game most teams are not able to do that but with Jordan Mason 28 carries 147 rushing yards 94 of those coming before first Contact I think they're pretty glad they also have Trent Williams in the mix there I think they need to re to slow play this mcaffrey thing we find out that he might be dealing with an Achilles injury they're playing on an artificial surface both in Minnesota and against Los Angeles Rams the next two weeks Jordan Mason in this lineup you can win with him you can win with the way that Brock py played last night he was terrific only thing I'm concerned about is Brandon auk now is on the receiving end of dropping two of BR P's best passes one against Seattle last year and then that really awful drop that he had in the end zone yesterday David Dennis Jr takeway from San Francisco's win week one I don't know uh who those panelists you had on yesterday uh were but I don't understand how you can't have the San Francisco 49ers as the best team in the NFC by a wide margin going into week one and it looked like that margin was even wider they look like the best team uh and they didn't even look like they were obviously they wen't at full strength without mcaffrey but their Red Zone execution has a lot of room to grow they kicked six field goals they were two for five in the red zone and they still put up 32 points that offense was humming Trent Williams did not allow a single pressure at all at uh during that entire game this team looks as good as any team in the in the NFC and maybe any team in the entire league and Frank G solo yeah a lot of people were skeptical about this team because of Brock P then he proved last year as Tim mentioned they had a lead in the Super Bowl let's remember something about this organization great front office coaching staff their players are terrific they have so many terrific weapons especially on offense they've been to the NFC championship game for the last uh five years the issue is they keep running they keep running into the Michael Jordan of the NFL that's the problem they would have had at least one of these Super Bowls if not for that Doren Patrick Mahomes who's absolutely brilliant but this team will be the toughest team to beat and the key as you guys know can you get the two home games and last year they got him they were trailing big to Detroit early on but came back and won but this team has all the ingredients none of that nonsense during the off season impacted them the players all got paid They're all playing right now when mcaffry comes back it'll be even a better MH better than they were last year Frank in your estimation sounds like think they can get to overtime against Kansas City all right well we'll and detainment of Tyreek Hill has been made public public and also the footage of the detainment of Kus Campbell and in those you could see Janu Smith another Dolphins teammate who stopped his experience captured through it the Dolphins team statement you can read right here Courtney Cronin this has gone beyond NFL story to national news your thoughts on the video Tony you can change the outcome of a potentially violent or dangerous interaction action simply with your tone we've never had a tense situation get deescalate with more yelling and more aggression and I think that's where the cop who first came up to Tyreek Hill and his officers were at fault they didn't try to do anything to deescalate this situation clus Campbell and Janu Smith Tyreek Hill's Dolphins teammates were the only one in this entire interaction who tried to make things calmer by being there Clay Campbell throws his hands up as he's talking with an officer who becomes aggressive towards him JN Smith has dealing with the the confusion of hearing one officer tell him one thing and another officer tell him another and meanwhile Tyreek Hill when he's being told that he has to sit down gets an officer jumping on his back to try to put him on the ground all the way around this body camera camera footage is an even bigger indictment on the Miami Dade Police Department just a terrible look all the way around for people who deal with this on a pretty regular basis Sol you know what I'm not an expert in police training uh so I do think it escalated way too quickly I would say this too for Tyreek Hill you know if if you're in the police's footsteps there and you're rolling your window up they're knocking on the window you have to comply right there and I think that could have helped deescalate as for his teammates I think they're doing what I think a lot of us would do you see your friend your teammate you pull up but that's not going to help deescalate the situation the police in that situation don't want civilians anywhere near that area it's a situation which certainly could have been avoided by both parties David Dennis Jr uh I I want to be fully transparent here I had a hard time sleeping last night knowing that we were going to be talking about this today that I would be having to watch more body cam footage where a black person is mistreated by police and uh reflect on the times that I've had to deal with that myself from the moment I had a driver's license at the age of 16 up until the point where I got pulled over a few months ago by accident for police and had to deal with these situations this is a reminder that you cannot out earn police misconduct you cannot out comply police misconduct if a cop wants to dve you out of a car and put you in handcuffs and put your friends in handcuffs then that is something that they can do no matter what you do about it you when his friends pull up they're doing that because they see a black man surrounded by police and we see what happens on the other end of that which which sometimes is violence and death so they were not in the wrong what the people whose responsibility is to deescalate a situation like this is the police and so often people like Tyreek Hill and so many of others of us have to go to work then right after something like this happens as if it did not happen and deal with this this is not a sustainable way for people to live in this country and if you empathize with Tyreek Hill you should empathize with a whole lot of other people who have to deal with this on a day-to-day basis and Tim keshaw there seems to be one officer in particular who is almost solely responsible for how quickly it escalated the way he pulls him out of the car before even giving him a chance to stand up and get out of the car and and and from that point on uh you know it looks like something we've either either seen footage of of people we don't know or footage from from a movie and and two AAG of iois said it was really hard to watch somebody he knew in this situation we may not know him personally but we all know Tyreek Hill and we're seeing him being treated the same way we've seen so many others in the last however many years as soon as they started having this body cam footage so just just very difficult to watch our Marcel Louis jacqu who of course is in Miami covering the Dolphins on his uh feed this week uh acknowledging that there was secondary footage that said one officer could be heard saying Hill was driving 60 M hour which is uh one of the reasons for the stop there had been wild rumors of a number far greater than that passed around and it's important that that number as heard by an officer and has been reported now uh through the source of Hill's attorney come out there as well thanks for your thoughts on this buy or too is the latest news from Green Bay and Jordan love the Packers plan to not put love on the injured reserve but the expectation is he will miss a few games Malik Willis will start for Green Bay for the Packers this is the team many were picking for a Super Bowl run Packers upcoming schedule home for the feisty Colts at Titans home for Vikings at Los Angeles Rams buy or sell Panic if love is out for a few weeks David Dennis Jr I'm buying a little bit of panic you have to hope that at the other side of of love coming back if it does come back in a few weeks that you can be two and two but what I've seen from this backup quarterback uh in the last couple years has not been encouraging 350 yards total zero touchdowns three interceptions around 50% completion Mark uh this is an uphill battle for this Packers team to make up for a quarterback who's you know barely seems good enough to be in the league right now Frank G Sola yeah when your backup replaces Superstar what you're hoping is just to keep your head above water I think Malik Willis could do that remember they have a terrific coach they still have good players on that team and a good defense when you talk about panic I was panicked when I saw Jordan love go down on the field in Brazil I think they're fortunate this it might just be only four weeks Tim kalesha it might be shortterm but it's short-term Panic uh not only did love you know completely Elevate that team last year they didn't run the ball at all with Josh Jacobs last week against Philadelphia if they don't have that as a as a big threat to help Malik Willis in these next few games they could be sitting at one and three by the time Jordan lovees even thinking about coming back and Corney croner I think everybody here needs to calm down a little bit not forget RX yeah take it from their predecessor at quarterback Matt laflor can simplify this offense for Malik Willis who they traded for to be the backup quarterback after determining all the QBs they had behind Jord in love in training camp weren't good enough so clearly they see something there that can get them through the next couple of weeks they didn't put him on injured reserves Jordan love on injured reserve so this isn't a situation where he's going to be out for an extended period of time to me it reminds me of the 2017 Minnesota Vikings who dealt with a Sam Bradford injury didn't go out and sign somebody ran with Case Keenum all the way to the NFC Championship that's the goal of the Green Bay Packers this year they're hoping that Malik Willis is capable of getting them [Music] there this team was nine and eight last year and then had the great playoff win in Dallas um and that started the hype train for
