the cleanup continues across Louisiana tonight after Hurricane Francine made landfall Michael yida joins us with a look at the damage Left Behind Michael hey there Melissa and here in New Orleans the work has started to try and get life back to normal following hurricane France seeing across the state we still have hundreds of thousands without power we're also seeing the effects of all of that wind and that flooding from Wednesday storm dramatic rescue caught on camera when ER nurse miles Crawford saw another man stuck in a truck submerged in flood waters he sprang into action after running to his home to get something to break the truck window Crawford waited into the flood and helped pull the man out I wasn't really thinking about my safety I I I knew I'd be safe and I knew that the officer was right there behind me in case uh we needed to get anybody else to come rescue me or anything scenes like this played out across parts of Louisiana as Francine made landfall and terar a bone Parish Wednesday as a category 2 hurricane with it more than a month's worth of rain to New Orleans within hours causing a rare flash flood emergency traveling became dangerous and water rushed into homes the lefo Paris sheriff's office said they pulled 26 residents many from their flooded homes Wednesday night we even had our protective Dam up we even had the sandbags up all of a sudden we saw water starting to come in from all different areas of the house hundreds of thousands are without power in Louisiana and Mississippi after windfall and trees ripped down power lines well it's certainly certainly worse than we anticipated in Louisiana the winds were so strong the roof of this flea market was torn off as the storm moves Inland more than 10 million people from Arkansas Tennessee to Southwest Georgia in the Florida Panhandle could see flood level rainfall and the National Guard activated around 3,000 members to help in the response and Recovery to Hurricane France scine officials here in New Orleans as well as across the state are urging everyone to have patience as they work to do the cleanup and then the restoration process they're also asking everyone who may be using a generator uh use it safely until that power comes back on Melissa okay that's Michael yosida reporting for us thank you Michael
