I love to grill I love to make cocktails I love to create an environment that's family fun and friendly we have a big kind of open concept room that our kitchen and our family room's in so there's just it's really around 4:00 to 7 o'clock in the daily household around the kitchen centered around dinner that night kids kind of doing homework in and out for sports um food is at the epicenter of the household I did not think about food when I was growing up really especially as far as cooking because when I was in the 80s my mom would make pork chops and they were gray and they were a can of onion soup and it was awful she made great Fried Chicken my mom was from the south so she was a good cook but my dad was Italian he made good Italian food but like the cooking was handled uh so I was either scarred by some of it my dad would serve like burgers that were like still bleeding and my mom's 1980 uh pork chops that kept me away from food and then when they cooked great meals is like oh they got it covered so I never thought about that uh never thought about making food my wife is the Big Cook in the family Siri is such a foodie when I met her she had a food blog and she's from the Midwest and we'd be at breakfast and all she and her friends do and parents and everybody in her world when they're at breakfast they talk about lunch when they're at lunch they talk about dinner and I'm like you guys got to stop but I got kind of sucked into it and and now I really love it it's at the epicenter of our family I won't have full meal Concepts I like to help out she hey we're gonna have you know um you know pork tenderloin tonight what do you think what should have with it I'll help that process but she really does is capable of doing everything but I like to barbecue so I'll do the steaks if I can or typically I might cook a protein I mean I think like in another life I was a butcher I love the idea of just meat in general and fire and friends I love to do fish outside um and Siri does a great job with you know kind of making the any of the sides and the salads and all the stuff that goes along with it so yeah she's really the the cook and my son my Fortune's taken an incredible liking to cooking in general now he makes steaks he goes outside and makes a big fire and does like a campfire stake and he knows techniques and what he's doing uh so yeah Jackson is a big chef and I follow him around like a mad scientist kind of picking up after him and putting things away so that my wife doesn't get you know H have to deal with it at a later point at least to make it like you know okay in the kitchen so I do try and clean up after myself I love it I think it's something we think about now kind of all day you know what's for dinner and then what's that process going to be like who's got to go to the store you know what store we going to go to to get the best ingredients for whatever we're making and it's fun it's almost like a healthy distraction I think from all the stress of you know the job and our just busy lives it's kind of a something that we can all Center our attention around as far as making putting a good meal together sitting around as a family when I was a kid um my dad in particular worked really hard and all he ever asked of us was to be there at the dinner table having dinner with the family was everything to him and so that's really stuck with me as busy as I am all over the country I love having dinner with my family even if it's 30 minutes and they want to run out to their friends houses or go outside and play after that's great but I grew up that way where um family time around the table is really important
