The Philadelphia Eagles Just Got Some GREAT News…

talk some Eagles so a lot of great developments a lot of great Eagles news today for this entire organization start off taking a look at the Eagles injury report and second round pick Cooper to jeene who Philadelphia traded up for in the 2024 NFL draft back in April did return to practice and was limited heris hamstring in the leadup the training camp Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reporting that news a few weeks ago that he got caught in an awkward position and then when we were live for our Eagles Patriots joint practice live stream last week because we also go live on this channel and do some watch parties nearly 40,000 views during our week 2 preseason watch party almost 60,000 for our week one preseason watch party we had passed along the information that Cooper deine was B back in an eagles practice uniform and he was starting to ramp up his physical activity and while he was limited today he did a lot and it's really exciting more on that in a moment Elsewhere on this Eagles injury report CJ Gardner Johnson returning to practice he's been dealing with the Troublesome shoulder ailment he just brings a different level of intensity Swagger accountability and Leadership to this Eagles defense which is looking to Lush the 2023 season in which they were terrible execution wasn't there miss tackles consistently blown coverages coaching changes they couldn't stop anybody they didn't generate turnovers they were awful in the Red Zone picking up yards after the catch they were terrible so all around the Eagles defense a year ago was horrible they couldn't do the simple things that coaches in the high school ranks are teaching their teams right now and they lead up to their respective 2024 Seasons it was all around just so ugly Eagle sack numbers went down they couldn't get off the field on third Downs in the Red Zone just some of the worst defensive performances that we've seen in recent memory I thought Shawn Desa was in over his skis just didn't have a feel for the game there were a lot of individual performances both in game and throughout the season that dropped off precipitously so the Eagles have remade the secondary they remade the linebacking room Hoy Roseman making a lot of additions at corner at safety you're relying on some players to take those big leaps along the defensive line and players are capable of doing that and Jaylen Carter Jordan Davis Milton Williams Morrow aomo PJ muster the other night he was flashing making plays as a traditional not you're hoping that Bryce Huff can make good on the investment that the Eagles gave him as far as that new contract $7 million per year he comes over from the New York Jets coming off a 10 sack season and it was his lone season of production and I thought he looked good in that preseason game against New England the other night when he dropped back in coverage made a really good play an instinctual play and a good tackle on that wide receiver scream he had a nice play against the run it was surprising that he was playing against New England but Vic fangio I love the old school mentality he's bringing to this Eagles defense we're going to practice hard we're going to be physical we're going to be feisty and if you need to play in these preseason games to get you caught up to speed we're going to do that so along the defensive line you're relying on a couple of uncertainties but during my perfect Eagles preseason Plan before the offseason got going or perfect offseason plan I guess I should say you know I had talked about CJ Gardner Johnson and I said forget about what happened as far as the divorce Eagles didn't want to bring him back they didn't want to invest in him he signed that one-year deal at Detroit he bad talked the fan base and was bitter with the organization who cares he's a good player he forces turnovers Philadelphia was minus 10 in turnover differential last year so they turned it over a lot they didn't generate a lot of turns turnovers CJ Gardner Johnson generates turnovers he's a very versatile player but that Swagger and that leadership is infectious and that's wound up being true because the Eagles have talked about that so many times this offseason whether it be players or Nick serani so to get CJ Gardner Johnson back at practice is great news his last three years he's played 1212 in three games so injuries are definitely a concern for him hopefully he can continue to stay healthy going back to Cooper de today Eagles training camp he's getting right away right from the jump second team slot nickel reps he also mixed in and got some first team reps on the inside with key Ringo and quinan Mitchell on the outside as Vic fangio is switching up some of the Personnel packages so on his first true day back at practice where he's actually getting snaps in team situations he's running with the ones and twos Eagles of course trying to get him up the speed as a rookie but it's an indication of what they think of the player and they're high on the player he was also and I'm really excited about this getting some punt return reps in he is a legitimate weapon when he gets his hands on the football at Iowa he had seven career interceptions three of them came back for touchdowns so nearly 50% of his interceptions went back to the crib and then as far as his punt turn ability goes he was a dynamic player there and with this new kickoff rule it's more of a punt trajectory because these punters and kickers and Braden man M handling the new kickoffs the other night against New England they have to Loft that kick into the landing Zone 20 yards to the goal line so Cooper dein I think can be used there so if the Eagles don't end up playing him a lot as far as defensive snaps go he can still impact this team as a kick returner or a punt returner now he's not going to unsee Britain cvy but he certainly has some ability there and I want to see what he can do as a kick returner maybe we see that in the preseason finale next Saturday against Minnesota at home maybe not obviously Philadelphia is going to be pretty cautious with his return back from a hamstring injury which can always linger and get re-aggravated but speaking of Dee and this entire draft class the early returns of it have been very promising quinan Mitchell's going to start on the inside Cooper deine is getting snaps with the ones and twos that was the case in the spring as well jayx hunt has really started to come on of late I thought that he showed some really good flashes and put some good plays on tape against New England and even Baltimore and then today he was having an extremely active practice had at least one sack will Shipley looks to be a versatile running back who can impact this team right from the jump annias Smith stocked down on him because he tested slowly he is smaller and so far in the preseason he's looked slow and he's looked smaller but he was able to catch that two-point conversion from Tanner mcke in that game against New England so at least he contributed Jeremiah trer Jr has done some really good things Trevor Keegan the guard out of Michigan made it on the baldi's breakdowns which is always a good sign because Baldi is one of the best tape evaluators in the NFL Johnny Wilson has gotten some first team snaps at wide receiver three as a 66 weapon and then you have Dylan mccan and the jury is still out on him speaking of that annias Smith play just want to talk Kell Moore here real quick obviously Philadelphia hasn't revealed all that much in the preseason but you look for Tendencies and you look for scheme changes and you look for play designs and clever offensive thoughts and week one against the Ravens you saw just smart offensive design on the will Shipley touchdown where on the right side of the line of scrimmage Philadelphia loaded it up with a bunch of size you had Grant calcatera CJ uzama and Johnny Wilson all out there to the right of the right tackle all those players are 64 566 right and then you play action to that side will Shipley leaks out of the back field off that play action and then he's wide open for a screen pass touchdown love that and then that two-point conversion to win the game for Philadelphia against New England again you're looking for situational play calls situational play designs Chiefs run that play all the time where annias Smith starts off on the left side of the formation he goes in motion motion pre- snap Eagles were 32nd in that area last year goes behind the line of scrimmage into the flat and Tanner mcke able to hit him for the two-point go-ahead conversion which ended up winning the game for Philadelphia so this offensive system and the coaching for this team on both sides of the ball is just world's better than it was last year and we're seeing that because last year during train camp this was a disjointed sloppy ill-prepared out of whack team and that ended up translating to the entire season even when Philadelphia started 10- one the non-casual fans know that that season was a just bloodbath and it was so difficult to watch every single game because everything seemed hard now the Eagles talent and them winning down the stretch in some of these close games because of their talent and because of their experience helped lift the Eagles to a 10in one start then they get exposed by San Francisco and from that point it was really really ugly and as part of Kellen Moore's offensive system we have seen Jaylen Herz perform better than he did last year and he's in need of a bounceback year for Philadelphia he has not thrown an interception yet in training camp now today the defense did Blitz a lot the Eagles offense did struggle a little bit they had a lot of struggles last year against the blitz because they had no Hots they had no safety vows their protections were bad Jaylen Herz didn't check out of a lot of plays against the blitz they just had no answers right so the fact that the Eagles offense struggled against Vic fangio's blitzes little bit of a concern right and how about Vic fangio I mean he's blitzed a ton the first two preseason games but going back to Herz he still has not thrown an interception so far in training camp today he was 18 to 29 a touchdown no picks but he's gone 248 throws without a pick I think that is significant because he's keeping the ball out of Harm's Way Eagles injury report before I hop on out of here Gabe Hall did not practice because of a hamstring udfa defensive tackle Matt Hennessy back EJ Jenkins knee Joseph andada had a really good game against New England did not practice because of an ankle Albert OKO abam continues to miss time because of an abdomen injury Kaden Sterns knee John Ross concussion Tyler Steen ankle and then Johnny Wilson concussion he took a big hit from jabil peppers in the joint practice where he got St up and pancak put right on his ass and that may have been the play where he got hurt limited participants Orin Burks special teams linebacker and rotational linebacker more of a special teams guy struggles in coverage returning today for the first time since the first day of training camp he's been dealing with a knee injury grank alcatara did return dealing with that shoulder CJ Gardner Johnson back from the shoulder as I noted Paris Campbell limited groin and then coim with that hamstring injury so those latter players limited Burks calcatera CD Deuce Paris Campbell as well as Cooper deim so just wanted to give you some Eagles coverage here on this Saturday right
