French cyclist Victor Koretzky reflects on earning silver in men’s mountain bike race at Paris 2024

finally for now France is already enjoying a successful home Olympics having won a host of medals already cyclist vikor kety had looks set for gold in the men's mountain bike race but in a tense finale had to settle for silver despite that he told cgtn's Dan Williams that the support has been incredible it's obviously been a few hours now since uh that Amazing Race how do you reflect on on on how the race went down and and obviously winning the silver medal oh for sure uh when you almost uh touch the the gold it's always a bit sad to to wear only the silver but yeah finally front of the French crowd and it's something different because I can enjoy uh the the silver uh they help me to enjoy the silver because when I'm in front of the French crowd I feel like I wear a gold so oh it's um yeah for sure it's something super strange but I just want to enjoy the the moment and enjoy with my family it was an amazing uh race it was um you know the course was really well set up what do you feel that this this will continue to do in terms of growing the sport of of mountain bike racing I think I think we did a nice show uh to promote the the mountain bike uh it was a super nice battle uh also for the third place so yeah on the TV I think it was nice to to watch sometimes it's it's different but here it was super nice super close gap between each other and uh we we make a a nice show and uh that's the most important I think for the sport and uh yeah I think uh I think now people they want to yet they want to watch more mountain bike races and uh yeah we will see in the future in terms just then generally last one in terms generally um of um the France experience Paris 2024 how do you uh reflect the Olympic so far I know it's only still early on but how do you reflect like France and the this Paris Olympics this kind of party atmosphere the success that we're seeing as well with the medals yeah for sure uh I think we we are sometimes uh super close to to the midle but to feel this support to be in in France front of the the French uh support and public it's something super special and we can feel uh like the the energy from the crowd and uh I think sometimes uh they they help a lot uh on the on the last part of the the race when it's super tough uh you just uh you just think about the crowd and you sometimes forgot the the pain and uh it's a super nice feeling and uh it's uh also yeah it's it's May it's maybe the the things who make the difference well done congratulations
