e e conference realignment is always in the news so we're back on the big mountain with a live emergency episode oh Steve much has changed in the last 24 hours last evening we did our pick episode of course I picked all the Mountain West schools and I picked the beavers and the Cougars and little did I know that my good goodness my world was going to change in a few hours um we appreciate everybody that's on I see we've got a lot of our normal people squeeze money Bill Rumblings David jurgenson good to have you here MK who's been a great follower je uh Stephen I saw earlier squeeze money all kinds of good people thank you guys for coming on this emergency episode we have a lot to talk about as everyone knows and I've seen some they think Jason JY is going to lose his you know what skis and I am going to try to hold it together here for as long as I can but I can warn you and tell you by the end of this episode JY will probably let it go just a little bit well we've never done a live emergency uh episode like this so obviously it's a big deal and our our fans our followers the mountain dwellers were calling for it all day no matter what video we posted they wanted to put comment on this ask us what we think about it on Twitter everywhere so we had to do this and part of it it's a little healing for you getting not yet it's not where that the stage is a grief we're in that initial stage I'm in the pissed off stage yes and and but then also I mean for our our Mountain dwellers we got to you know we have to address this this is huge Earth shattering news well it's I mean I said to you I know we got a few commenters saying we posted the uh uh the uh Power Rankings this morning and they're like I came to you guys for what's going on I texted you I'm like can you do one you're like I think I can and I'm like this is the pack in the Mountain West this does doesn't quite get any more bigger for the big mountain than this unless it involved the Big 10 in some way so we've got to do a live episode we're here for our dwellers we thank you guys for your comments so we're going to start with just kind of some facts what we know I've done a lot of uh reading of a whole bunch of different articles I've got quotes from a bunch of different uh decision makers that we have I want to put them out there some opinion articles uh so we'll kind of start with that then we'll kind of lay the groundwork of maybe where the pack and the Mountain West goes from here and we're going to end with some just speculation what what maybe comes next that's when JY maybe gets a little angry uh because I am in the very first stage of grief I am in the anger stage uh but I will say let me break that down real quick Steve because I I I've had a lot of different emotions here because we have brought in the beaves and the cougs um and it's easy for me to crap on them right now like it's very easy for me to be really hateful to the beaves and the cougs about this but it's not necessarily their fault and I and I posted a lot of stuff this morning on X about this all kinds of different stuff I'm going to get to some of that here in a little bit so I'm going to say initially as a Wyoming fan right I am super angry and I'm super pissed so that's one one spot of where I'm at as a Mountain West fan I'm just shocked like I'm blown away by this yes I'm angry as well but I think as a Mountain West fan I'm more shocked and surprised nobody as I said on X nobody had this on their bingo card right now nobody not just us we got this wrong I'm going to talk about that and maybe why some some of the reasons why we we were uh hearing things from decision makers that we took differently um but nobody nobody had this on their bingo card that September 12th four teams from the Mountain West were going to be going to or saying they're going to join the pack everybody was still on this whole the Pack's looking for an ACC and Big 12 inight I mean that's where everybody's at they thought they were going to get especially the ACC there's this whole scheduling Bo jumbo about the ACC this wasn't on anybody's radar it came out of absolutely nowhere so sh massive shock from the Mountain West side of things from a western college football fan so I'll expand it right I started with Wyoming I went to Mountain West now I'm just kind of west of the Mississippi honestly Steve I'll be I'll be dead serious I'm disappointed in this I really am and and I'll get into why and I'm not knocking the beaves the cougs the Bulldogs the Broncos the Rams the Aztec I'm not knocking them but I'm disappoint pointed and I don't think it sets up for a strong college football conference a premier college football conference that we've been calling for for quite some time I don't think it sets up well for them in the long term I think in the short term it sounds great it looks great they're all saying the right things I don't like it in the long term so that's where I'm at any any comments and we'll get into the the facts I'll just say there's going to be a lot of there's going to be some people that are going to be like oh this is what I thought would happen all along yeah well here's the thing you may have thought that at the very beginning but there's been nothing nothing that's been happening over the last few months really last six months and I know you're going to cover this more in depth that really suggested that this was going to happen right every piece of evidence we had uh was that either they were going to look to go join the Big 12 go join the ACC or do some kind of a a a more fully realized merger not just poach a few teams so for the people for the people that said I knew this was happening all along bull crap you didn't know this was happening all along you might have thought that might have been a theory you threw out but there was nothing no actual real evidence that this was happening until just basically recently yeah alarm bells and you're going to talk about this alarm Bells when they didn't come to a you know extension of the settlement it was like uhoh what's happening right um so why don't you uh yeah so you know SM smoke started to kind of billow out of the West Coast last night as we went to bed I actually didn't see anything you we were coming off of our live show I was tired after that I didn't do a whole lot of college football researching at that point I know folks on the west coast started to hear some Rumblings right before bedtime you know but kind of was that a dream was it really happening what's gonna what's going to happen I wake up this morning and I couldn't believe what I saw I got you know I think it was a DM from our buddy bill I think that was maybe the first thing that I saw like is this happening JY and I went what the what and then I started looking through things and I'm like oh crap I did do some dming to uh some of our acquaintances I'm not going to say who or why uh but I kind of got some head nods that Yep this is really happening just before it came out everybody kind of knew that 9:00 9:00 hour on the East Coast six o'clock hour on the west coast is when everything was going to drop and it all dropped at one time they clearly had this organized and ready everybody drop this at uh 6: a.m on on the west coast here um but as everybody knows at this point official news came out Boise State Fresno State Colorado State and San Diego State have all accepted invitation to join the pack for the 26 27 school year uh this now takes the pack to six members as of 2026 they need two more members to reach that magic number of eight to qualify as an FBS conference as of July 1st 2026 we've talked about that date many times uh they now have six out of eight in order to maintain that status everything at this point looks like Yep they're probably going to get two more members we'll get into some speculation on that here later in the in the show um the pack press release Here stated that the six universities so the four newbies and and the bees and the cougs are going to unite to drive growth exposure and value the pack stated that they used five prioritized measures and established criter criteria which included academics and athletic performance media and brand evaluation commitment to athletic success geography and Logistics geography regionality something we've talked about since the very beginning of all of this culture and student athlete welfare the pack received written applications from these four universities as of right now to me it's unclear if they received any more I think that I think it was just these four but they did receive four written uh applications lastly the pack stated that the collective six universities this new pack six if you want to call it that will collaborate for future membership and other future conference considerations so they're going to bring these four in immediately um I don't they they clearly wouldn't have voting membership yet uh because they're not an official member of the pack but they have said that we want to uh listen to you we want to collaborate on this we want to know where we're headed at least for two more schools again we're going to get into that I also want to just say we're going to get the comments we love your guys' comments ments uh we want to kind of get through some of our initial comments here I know Steve has some things I have some things we'll definitely get to your comments here in a minute so kind of early on without speculation kind of what does this mean for the Mountain West right now I just want to remember or just remind people kind of what the bylaws say any member that resigns from membership in the conference effective June 30th of each year by delivering a written notice to the conference and other members on or before the preceding June 30th so it all revolves around June 30th I have not seen anything that any written notice has actually been given to the Mountain West about this this sounds really familiar to what kind of occurred With The Pack 12 where everything came out in the public and then the P then the Pack 12 as our bees and cougs fans know had a massive uh it wasn't even a pissing match it was litigation about was this or was this not actual not ification the bylaws of the Mountain West say that there has to be written notice to both the conference and other members so that was much more gray in the Pack 12 than what it is in the Mountain West could that mean there's litigation down the road where we stand today anything can be litigated so it wouldn't surprise me but it is pretty black and white in the mountain West bylaw Steve I I was going to wait and until you were totally done IAD I did want to say something about there I I I did see something a statement or something by the um by the Mountain West today earlier yeah might have been from commissioner navarez or just a general statement from the the the uh conference that they were considering because basically this was public notice they were considering this their official notice um that the conference that they are considering an official notice so that's a little rough that's not what the bylaw I know but and like you said very sounds like the pack baby very similar to what we got in the pack but it sounds like and if both parties agree that yes this is written notice then it is what it absolutely yes if they both agree it is what it is but oh this I will say at least the bylaws are clearer than what the pack were but I'm telling you you can get anybody can find gray when I think it's black and white and it's X Y and Z my goodness you can look at it a b and c that's what lawyers do yeah so um I will say that any member again another issue that the pack had the Mountain West uh they have much better bylaws than the pack used to have but any member that submits a notice to the conference now again whether it's public or written it says written um will resign as a director on that date now as I said I I'm not aware of them actually giving written notice to the Mountain West yet the bylaw says that that is what has to happen and quite frankly they have until June 30th to do that to have this lesser penalty uh for them to pay in terms of their exit fees we're going to get to that in a minute as well but there's no nothing forcing them to submit a written notice to the Mountain West right now is that awkward yep it's awkward is it what we saw on the pack yep it's exactly what we saw on the pack but that's where we sit also of note these exit fees must be paid to the conference prior to the effective date of them leaving so as we think we know today they would be leaving June 30 of 26 any exit fees that these four members owe to the Mountain West would have to be paid to the conference before they leave the conference June 30 of 26 uh and as I said we just we don't know if there's been actual notice yet I don't think there has I think we would have probably heard that I know the Mountain West has been very quiet today they did release one Qui uh really brief summary about it uh some other some schools have just said we have no comment I know there's I'm on Wyoming message boards and people are like how can you not have a comment about this and we're going to get into that this apparently happened very very quickly in terms of how uh they went from having some talks into having a written uh offer into accepting that offer and I I have some issues with that and I'll tell you why it just to me it happened way too fast but anyway we'll get into that I don't want to get into the speculation yet JY needs to stay on the straight and narrow he'll get crazy a little bit later on all right so what are some of the schools saying so I was able to listen to some of the press conferences I saw some of the reporting of all of this as we've always said we have day jobs I tried to do as much as I can I guarantee I didn't get everything and and you certainly Steve you can chime in I want to start with some quotes from Jeremiah Dicky a friend of our show we've had him on the Mountain uh good guy you know he his uh kind of quote is always what's next always what's next uh he said that the four Mountain West schools had been in discussions with the pack over the last few weeks however an official invite came yesterday September 11th Boise State will owe the mountain W Mountain West $17 million but he said that amount does not worry him because of what he thinks they're going to be getting out of a new conference in the pack he said he thinks the pack will look to add another two to four schools this is his opinion not the opinion of anybody else is it just Jeremiah dicki saying he thinks they're going to look to add two to four we all know that they have to add two like that's kind of Captain Obvious saying that but so he's he says maybe you know a total of 8 to 10 schools for a total of a of the new pack if you want to call it that and he he said and I I know you mentioned this to me Steve things really escalated in the past for uh 48 Hours the past two days I saw a quote of him saying he didn't come into the office Monday morning of this week thinking this announcement was going to be had on a Thursday I'm going to get to some red flags of that I'll be honest with you that that just seems so incredibly fast for that to happen I kind of Wonder the reasoning behind that but that's what he said Gar classy another friend of the show we've had him on I I have had interaction with him fantastic guy very open to just talking with with anyone uh and is a massive Bulldog fan he had a press conference with the president of fresner State University uh him andz sand ofal uh he specifically Garrett uh the ad Garrett classy said this decision vision is not based on relationships but on the metrics and the value and he said to us this is a business we have to treat this like a business and I made a quote on X today business doesn't care about history business doesn't care about relationships business cares about metrics and value that hurts as a Mountain West fan that hurts as a Wyoming fan but I get it from an ad standpoint it makes sense it hurts but it makes sense uh he says our brand is strong and we should uh think of ourselves as something better than second rate you know there's there's this kind of thought that that a G5 or a G6 school is second rate and you know he just says we should think of ourselves better than that I might get into that a little bit later as well um a question that did come up and I I appreciated this answer because this is another item I talked about on X today when people were talking about the cost and the exit penalties and I apped at the time I guarantee you the Pack's probably pay in some or all of these exit penalties for the schools we'll get into those amounts here in a minute but a question was asked in this press conference and president uh gimenez sandavol answered with it's still in the works well it's still in the works tells you they're going to be paying something I don't know if they're going to pay at all but they're going to be paying something so part of this war chest is going to be paid for not only the poaching penalties but also some of the the penalties that the uh the exit penalties that the M West schools have to pay again I want to talk about that a little bit more here in a minute CSU Colorado State's ad uh Weber said that the Colorado State and Wyoming uh schools have uh expressed desire to maintain that border war that makes sense of course that gets back to that history thing they're going to try to maintain what they can we've seen what uh the Civil War the apple cup what they've been able to do at least for a year or two and see if that continues you know there's relationships here they're going to try to keep that I mean you need a 12 game schedule if this is an 8 to 10 team conference you're not going to have 12 games anyway so you want to stay on the west coast you want to limit your your travel CSU and Wyoming I don't think you have an issue with your border War I would think that's an easy out of conference if we're going to say that in 2026 we'll see that's an easy one nice little bus trip across the border super easy uh the San Diego State University president uh Alder deor hopefully I'm saying that right uh says uh the invites were totally at the discretion of the Washington State and Oregon State presidents completely came from them she was pleased with the metrics that were used and the decision M decision making process and they were uh the bet she thinks the best four schools were selected well no you know what Sherlock you're one of the four of course you're going to love the metrics and you're going to love the decision- making and you think the best four are going to be because you're one of the freaking four so okay it is what it is of course she's going to love it I want want to go back to something that President Schultz from Washington State who had been very vocal but we really haven't heard a lot from him here uh recently he did uh issu some some comments and statements him and Murthy together uh issued some things uh one thing says he pitched this opportunity to shape the future of the conference including adding to uh adding the new members to these four schools so you know part of the pitch here was just you're our future you know you you roll out the red carpet you give them everything that that you think they're looking for you're our future you're going to be uh helping us create who the new members are you're an even partner and yada y yada so that's what he said also he says the primary objective is to build an eight team conference that can compete in the marketplace with the big 12 and the ACC to that I say good luck but that's the opinionated JY talking right now but he's saying eight teams remember Dicky and he's the new guy to the table he really know I'm sure he was guessing we need two to four okay that makes sense primary objective here from Schultz who is in the pack right now says an eight team conference I they have to get to at least have to yeah they have to all right so what are other saying so kenzor has been a little active today uh the pack uh expects to implement a performance-based revenue distribution model this is something that Boise and San Diego State has really been asking for with the Mountain West I think if you ask these two schools if there was one thing that you were most disappointed with in their conference Boise in San Diego State would absolutely say this yes Boise was receiving more money for football but I know and the San Diego State ad has talked about this what they have brought into the conference from basketball and what they've done recently and that they don't have a performance-based model in that that really rubs San Diego State the wrong way especially when Boise was getting something extra for football that makes total sense to me and I think they of any gripes that I might hear from those two schools that absolutely would be one that I would say yep you're 100% right about that uh but it takes more than two schools to Tango in a 12 member conference right you got to do what you got to do so this is where we sit um also kener said the Pack 12 schools mentioned likeminded what asked about these four four schools that were added they share a vision and want to invest and offer the strength of one sport that sport being football so they all have the same according according to them same uh like-mindedness the same vision of what they want uh navaras he says was aware that the pack had recent contact with several schools he mentioned that she was concerned about that of course she would be you know even if nothing nothing like this happened she would be concerned that there's some backdoor conversations going on and she had mentioned a couple couple times you you one time you were surprised that she had mentioned a couple times her recent interviews where she's like oh success has been we've kept kept everybody together together and and so maybe she kind of had a an inkling of something I well I'm sure she had an inkling but I don't think it's been very long you know and I would go back to what dicki has said I think dicki's made the most comments from what I could see in terms of timing of this like he said over the past several weeks so we're talking maybe since September 1st or very late August the conversations have been ongoing but things really only heated up over the last 48 hours so she's probably I want to say she's blindsided I mean she clearly said to kanano she knew something was going on but to get to this degree this fast I would think she's extremely blindsided I want to add since you brought up Dicky again and again you're I I agree with you 100% great guy he was fantastic on the interview just a good person and he was so open and transparent yeah when I want to go back and watch that episode I wanted to do it before we did this episode I just didn't have time but I I was thinking today when you asked him about the Mountain West and about commissioner navarez and he said all kinds of good things great leadership but if you remember and again I want to go back and watch this he said something at at the end of the day I I have to look out for the best interest of my school my athletic department um which at the time that sounded like just okay that's a normal answer but now when you when when you look back on it with hindsight it's like okay maybe maybe he was telegraphing that a little bit I have done a lot of hindsight I'll tell you the past 24 hours I've gone back over our interviews what we've said what did we miss did I take that wrong and you can second your guess you can second guess yourself to death and it's it's not going to do anybody any good um but yeah with that I just want to bring up a couple more things Steve uh then I can get to you if you have any comments and I want to get to maybe some of our commenters I want to get we're not looking at them right now we'll get to them here in a minute we'll Breeze through them as as much as we can cuz we're going to get to some speculation later which is all the salacious stuff that people probably because everything I've said so far most people have probably heard we're going to get to the good stuff here in a minute but BJ RS with Bronco nation news mentioned that the coaches and the staff for Boise State had absolutely no idea this was happening that makes sense I mean this was super Hush Hush it happened super fast nobody knew this was going on um and yeah so even the the coaches and the staff had had absolutely no clue at Boise that that this was happening um and he he did say I didn't I wasn't able to check I was out doing some things before we went live but Boise did say they expect to release the signed Pack 12 term sheet to the media so I do want to look at that certainly if there's some some nuggets in there that we want to report on I'll be very interested in that I haven't seen it yet but we'll we'll take a look at that the only couple questions that kind of have come up here recently um one of them had to do with uh UNLV versus Reena uh Nevada at Reena a lot of people just like why was UNLV left out what's going on with you unv and you know some of it could be uh the same issues that we're seeing in both Virginia and North Carolina in terms of uh the Board of Education in that state uh and so you know UNLV maybe is tied to Nevada until maybe political issues get resolved so they can't go out and kind of do their own thing like some of these other schools maybe could not saying unov may not be happening in the future but for now they were not able to do anything so you know we don't know who received invites we don't know well we know four we don't know if any others received invites or applied or appi or applied it we don't know any of that stuff there could be others that are on hold there could be others that were told no that didn't apply we don't know any of that right now uh the other thing I just want to bring up real quick Steve and then I'm going to let you chime in with whatever you want I kind of question if you remember with the pack you know the whole UCLA and cow issue where UCLA went to the Big 10 and then cow's like what about us you got to pay us money and now there's calony everybody knows about this calony so certainly we're not at the millions of dollars that we're talking about with the big 10 deal but I kind of Wonder I mean we're talking about Fresno State and San Jose State that are in the same conference again the the the number of dollars aren't as great but there's still State schools within the same uh conference conference within the same uh California University programing I kind of wonder if there's an issue there there may not be but you know going with through what we went through with Cal I kind of wonder if there's an a Spartan Ammon yeah good point um and are you ready for me to chime in now okay go baby so um when we're discussing that And discussing Nevada talking about North Carolina and Virginia so let's kind of talk about some of the differences that we know because there's some things we just don't know there's a lot we don't know clearly we know in in for University of California system so like we're talking UC Berkeley UCLA um all of those different schools um they have a University of California uh Board of Regents who they specifically did pass a rule saying schools you have you have autonomy to go and make your best decisions you know you're the ad and the president of that University basically they gave them the freedom to do that now what they did do in the Cal UCLA section uh issue is retroactively they went and and said okay yes you had the ability to go on your own without our approval but we're going to make you give them a little bit of money yeah so will we see that something happen uh I don't know exactly how and I'm going to do some more research into this you know the The Fresnos the San Jose States those other smaller State schools how they fit into the system and and how the control works over them but it's something to keep an eye on but it definitely sounds like and so then we also know in North Carolina uh because we followed this really closely uh the board uh so they have the Board of Trustees is over the university but then it's the board of reg Regents I think I think in North Carolina the bigger board um that of Governors they have the total say the total control and theyve basically put it made it harder for schools to leave and do different things so it sounds like maybe Nevada has a similar thing to that so good point on that um but we'll have to see how that that plays out so that's kind of my take on that and then just overall um you know like you mentioned this this came out of the blue came out of a surprise we we did see some warning signs um as far as the not moving forward to the extension um we didn't know what those warning signs meant right it was hard to tell at that point and and a lot of the quotes I know you're going to kind of get into some of this really pointed to that the um the remaining two were looking for really hoping for a big 12 invite that never came uh hoping for chaos in the ACC where that would lead to Dominoes and maybe open up an opportunity uh it really didn't look like you know recently within the last few months that they were looking to re we saw we heard nothing we mentioned this multiple times there was absolutely no chatter or nothing recently about rebuilding the pack um so I think that's why it came as as such a surprise there um and then yeah I think that's all I have for now you have some more you want to go over well I I'm looking at some comments I was listening I promise I apologize but I was listening I was going over some comments I see a lot of War chest questions and I was going to get to this but let's get to it now so I see Frank asking about the war chess he said you know JY made a convin ing analysis there was no more war chest I know MK who's been a follower for a while I I always appreci his appreciate his comments he talked about that and I appreciate everybody's uh caring for me because they you know I'm in shambles and I'm I'm I'm kicking I'm alive I'm breathing I'm just kind of angry but I appreciate everybody's uh uh you know worry about me uh but everything will be okay so anyway I want to I I I'm going to get to the war chest here real quick because um yes and no like yes and no right so we just did an update based on Scott barnes's comments about the warchest and and we made the conclusion at that time again based on all the comments we knew from Schultz from Barnes from everybody and our conclusion was the war chest was going to be used for a three-year Bridge 24 25 and 26 to get to a power conference it was going to fund their operations and everything that they did and Scott Barn said at the time this is only a few oh my gosh it's only a week ago for crap sake I'm I'm a beaver and a cougar right now like your head spins and the Mountain West is still in existence for crap's sake the beeses and the cougs were a two- member conference so like it's not even as bad as what that was but be that as it may um so we listened to what he said and we said the war chest is going to be used for operational costs for these two schools for those three years and and we concluded that it was to get to a power or a hope for for a invite to an ACC or a big 12 I shouldn't even say power conference the ACC or the Big 12 and so that's what that war chest was going to be used for little did anyone know their idea wasn't to create a three-year bridge at this point they now want to use some of that money to pay for schools to join the pack it's different 26 Now isn't for operational costs anymore 26 now is to pay poaching penalties to the Mountain West and it's very Poss that they changed their mind 100% changed their mind that was their intention cuz I think it was Schultz a couple months ago in an interview with Canzano said he basically crapped on the idea of why are we going to use all this money to pay penalties and fees to to bring these other schools in here we're going to use this money to maintain our own athletic department at Power five levels like we want to so uh and again people can say oh we knew this was going to happen all the time whatever but it's not what they were saying they were going to use the money absolutely and I was going to say this later so I might repeat myself cuz I have my notes and I got to stay with my notes but to your point Schultz is on the record on the record stating it would not make any sense for them to use this money to pay for other schools exit fee penalties and he said he has a fiduciary responsibility to his university to use this money for his university guess what Steve that isn't what he's doing anymore did he change his mind I'm sure he did when he said that months and months ago I'm sure that's what he meant but guess what that's not what's happening today well and yes and is JY getting a little pissed jy's getting a little pissed right now well it does look like he's changed his mind however we don't however me no because you you I'm going to go take you back to what you said earlier one of the quotes was that's still in the works we don't have official confirmation that they're going to use it to help pay true those ex fees yet but they're using it to pay the poaching penalties they have to yes they have to pay it and and I'll get into the breakdown that but Schultz's his quote was not to not to pay other schools exit penalties and those are two different things ah I think it meant I think he meant everything I didn't go back and and type the exact quote I think he was saying whether it's poaching exit whatever that was he's not uh again we only had less than 24 hours to prep this this show I'm 90% sure he was talking about using money to pay another conference versus using that money for Washington State and that really Burns me cuz you know we've talked about many a Time listening to the decision makers and we have put all of our um everything we've done so far with the pack has been based on the decision makers and absolutely they can change their mind don't get me wrong they can they did they will I get all of that but what we have been building and why we've been so confident has been based on Schultz from months ago and freaking Barnes from a week ago for crying out loud that's why I'm that's why I'm hot I'll be honest with you that's the main reason I'm hot okay anyway let's calm back down JY let's go back to some of our commenters here um so yes uh I see uh oh look David jurgenson he's buying me apple juice awesome David I gotta be honest I'm drinking I'm drinking water tonight uh because if I had apple juice JY wouldn't control himself yeah so JY needs to take it easy all right uh Connor says maybe not Rip but at least as uh we knew it uh what are we talking about I kind of skipped down here Steve okay Connor says rip Mountain West I wouldn't go there yet we'll get into that here in a little bit um let's keep going here real quick I don't want to waste too much time I'm going to disagree with the this was inevitable uh I think it was Conor there said this was inevitable I don't think it was inevitable this this has been a moving Target uh they've looked at all of their options and and one viable option the whole time was some kind of a merger and we may see that yet and I know that's something where we're both going to talk about speculation L later we may see more teams we may see what ends up being essentially a merger with maybe a few teams left out but I just I disagree fundamentally that that that this was inevitable it was decision it was a a process of multiple steps that took place uh that caused them to make this decision and Connor he says trust us we know how you feel JY I had a great uh comment back and forth on X today I I get it I do get it um it's funny the shoes on the other foot uh I will say that uh but but I do understand that we we have some comments about my built or our built not bought shirt please don't burn it may I have it no I am going to keep it I will be okay it may take me a little bit to put that back on for a little while uh I was going to wear mine tonight I thought I might put you over the edge oh Steve don't don't go there uh yes you wouldn't have been uh unallowed in my house if you would have had a beaver shut on no offense be fans but yes that that wouldn't have gone over well with me um all right so I know we have a lot I know we're way behind here um I know we have questions on a lot of speculation about who's next a lot of the stuff is what we're going to talk about we're going to get into kind of what we think who's next who might be next up I see UTSA UTEP toan I see all kinds of stuff we're going to get into speculation stuff so let's get back on it here Steve I know we're we're still behind our commenters please keep at it we love love you guys and we got a ton of ton on here right now um and you know Connor T duck everybody's going for it so please have at it we're going to keep going with what we got we're going to get to the speculation I think that's probably what most people want want to hear so the only thing I want to do here real quick I want to talk about Dan woken from uh USA Today um again as a uh a Mountain West guy he was speaking for me some truth and I'm going to warning warning be and cou and pack fans aren't going to like his article they're not going to like JY and what he has to say right now so warning warning same with Boise San Diego State uh Fresno State and Colorado State you're not going to like what I say from his article but I really kind of enjoyed it so he now has called these four schools that are potentially leaving or going to be leaving the Mountain West the disloyal four we had the treasonist 10 with the pack we now have and he's the first one I that I saw I call them this so I if if somebody else called it first please but I think Dan wlin with USA Today he was the first that I saw the disloyal four uh he also goes on I just want to say a couple things that he had in his article uh he starts out by saying this rebuilt Pack 12 sets a new standard for pointlessness in college sports nothing changes to the Pack 12 status it is not going to be considered a major conference it is basically going to look like the old Mountain West looked what the uh uh D4 the the disloyal four yes I'll call them the D we have a p we have a d now we have a D4 what the disloyal 4 have actually done is joined a new league with an old name that will look like their previous League that's what they've done done and I thought that was that was glorious I I kind of appreciated that um he kind of tells it as it is again if you're a pack fan if you're a b fan if you're one of the disloyal four and I say that lovingly I I love the Bulldogs I love the Broncos don't get me wrong just deal with JY for a little bit while he's in stage one of uh eight stages of grief I'm in stage one of my my griefing stage so you're going to be the disloyal four for me for a while in a loving is kind of way uh but any anyway you know he kind of tells it as it is and I'll get into that a little bit more but um you know Steve we're in a P4 G6 model right now we've done a lot on what the P2 is going to look like we're going to get there and does this change a whole lot for these schools in the short term maybe in the long term I just don't know um I kind of question that but I want to go go back through a couple things that we have talked about and then we'll get into the speculation so you know we stated long ago that we thought the number of Mountain West schools that would go to the pack to would be three to four schools you know there was a lot of talk with the rebuild way back when they were talking six seven eight schools and we said at the time the money's not there we could look at the pack uh War chest and say there's no money for six to eight schools I said if that happens and yes that was number three on my list I'll own that I'll eat the crow you can call me a dum dum but it was number three on my list 100% um but I said there's only money for for three to four schools where do we sit okay it was three on my list but we sit at four schools that's all they can afford um so that's not really it's it's surprising that we're here but it's not surprising that we're only talking about four schools again as we talked about everybody was talking about the big 12 and the ACC invite it's imminent a scheduling agreement is imminent Big 12 ACC Big 12 and we've kind of just been like yeah whatever we'll see what happens uh but we never really picked up on that cuz we never thought it was really a a viable option unless got an invite to one of those schools which we also thought was an invite and let's be clear if they would have gotten an invite for the people that said oh I knew this was going to happen all along if they would have gotten an invite they would have accepted it that's what they wanted they would have accepted it and we wouldn't be here today right and and you know I I get now into just the war chest we talked about that Scott Barnes that we just did an an episode here a few days ago uh you know he had said the war chest really was to Pro provide that fiscal Bridge until they maybe got a P4 invite clear at this point and he talked about scenarios as well in that in that interview with kenzano and Wilner he talked about we've looked at different scenarios we know when we need to do this and when when we need to do that but we also heard from Schultz saying hey we have until early 2025 Schultz or uh Barn said we have until spring of 2025 until we really need to do something so my goodness talk about a a smoke screen versus a week later you're inviting for and and accepting uh invitations from for Mountain West schools that's a pretty quick turnaround if you ask me um and as I said Schultz Schultz was on the record saying he's not providing a fiduciary responsibility to his school to use this war chest money to pay exit and poaching penalties well guess what that's what they're doing right now apparently if this is happening that's what they're doing um the pack clearly has decided that anything anything was better jy's going to get emotional anything was better than joining or merging with the Mountain West they were going to do anything they could to not be relegated to the Mountain West and that's where we sit um and of course now Schultz is retiring so what the hell does he care yeah okay I know I told you I'm gonna get I'm gonna get excited Steve I told you it's starting in Schultz's behalf I I will say to to argue for him cuz he's not here tonight he's not no I thought he was a special guest on his behalf Dam it and I know um you you have the comments um you haven't made it yet but one of the things you were going to say the media value difference is going you believe it's going to be marginal yeah uh I what I'll say is to argue back to push back we don't know that yet um we we don't know it's a guess we don't know uh and they could have information you know from Media Partners and whatever that uh the metrics the value of these four teams so bar Schultz could be looking at this as hey I'm putting our you know us in a better position to have more media value going forward put us in a better fiduciary uh I I don't think he's just saying screw it I'm retiring I think that he for him to do this uh from everything we've heard from him uh I I think that he actually prob actually definitely believes this is a better puts him in a better financial position moving forward whether that's not whether that's true or not we'll see but I but I'm going to go with that he believes that I'm at stage one Steve yes I know Deni was it denial or anger I can't remember maybe our prod whatever I'm in I'm in freaking anger but anyway um so here and and I want to say this um and then I'm going to let you kind of go I know you have some things that you want to say about the pack and college football in general and I want to I want to get you to that but you know I look at this and I say we could have had a premier 14 team Western Conference I get it beaves and cougs you don't like the bottom of the Mountain West you know fill in the blank with those bottom three four schools I get it every conference has a bottom three or four schools hell look at Wake Forest in the ACC I mean everybody has those guys so to to to think that you're better than thou just it frustrates me because again we could have had a 14 team Premier Western Conference uh conference western conference conference um that could have driven great media value and now in my opinion everyone's losing here because you're taking this 14 team conference you're cutting it in two uh the difference as you said you said I said I was going to say this and I'm going to say it the difference to me is probably marginal you know in the grand scheme of things we don't know that yet but it could be marginal and when you look at the disloyal four they're going to play the relatively same schedules they're playing this year they're at a conference they're going to use Mountain West schools assuming the Mountain West still around they ain't traveling to freaking Ruckers to play an out of cont game CSU is going to play Wyoming you look at their schedule in 26 and we should do this I want to look at their schedules in 26 compared to this year and see how different they are because they're not going to be that freaking different well and their schedule might be the schedule might be the same but who they're sharing the money with was going to be different come down to that's right I I mean both conferences here are in exactly the same position and it's what Gloria naris has said for a while we want to be the fifth best conference in the country well guess what the pack is saying we want to be the fifth best country or fifth best conference in the country they're both saying the same damn thing why can't we work can't we all just get along okay I'm done Steve go yeah so you know the whole time I thought this was going to end with some kind of a merger where there was a possibility that maybe a couple of the bottom Mountain West teams you know like a like a Hawaii like a New Mexico maybe we're left out uh so this caught me by surprise now one thing is you know we we talk about you said earlier we're in a we're in a P4 model um I disagree with that I think we're in a P2 model I think the college football playoff has has kept us in a a model that is not actually reflective I to me I still say it's the power two and everybody else and I agree with you I think I so I think a merged Premier West Coast Conference would have not just been in competition for the fifth best conference could have been we'll see what happens with the ACC could have been in competition for the best of the rest the best outside of the uh P2 um so I that I am a little disappointed in that but I do want to look so I'm going to take the the kind of the position of the Pack 12 looking forward um I'm I'm you know I've kind of fallen in love with the Mountain West these last couple years I have a soft spot in their heart uh and my heart for them uh but I'm the big 10 guy it's a little easier for me to just kind of you know uh take a more independent look at this so I want to talk about what does the pack do moving forward so right now the pack has six members as we know and all six are going to have some input into what uh this is going to look like going forward um and as we said earlier they need two more members by July of 2026 for the NCAA to consider them a conference I mean that's just a bare minimum to continue to exist as a conference they need two more members so what are the potential candidates to get to at least eight teams but maybe they'll try and go to 10 or even 12 I think I I can't remember if it's 10 or 12 I think it might be 12 that you need to have a conference Championship game right unless that was changed uh so let's just talk about some potential candidates here this is the speculation part we don't know yet what's going to happen with the Mountain West you speculated on Twitter that this may be kind of a pressure campaign to get the Mountain West to dissolve and then they can have their pick of those teams maybe something like that happens uh I I I doubt that they're going to want to pay another you know $100 million to poach uh a an existing Mountain West but there's four teams from the Mountain West that continue to be brought up as potential additional candidates um and I want to go through those Air Force UNLV Wyoming and New Mexico uh I've been a little surprised that New Mexico continues to be brought up but they are a big basketball conference they're in a big Market a top I think top 40 TV Market uh Air Force continues to be brought up um as a potential candidate to go to the pack uh the service draw pretty well nationally uh and then there's also been speculation that that they may leave now with with Colorado State leaving that they could potentially leave and go to the AAC where their uh Military Academy Brethren are this is something we've mentioned before in the past uh and uh Wyoming could could potentially be a candidate and then UNLV um to me out of all of those teams UNLV would be the best candidate would make the most sense however like you mentioned there may be a problem uh with the the Nevada basically the state of Nevada and they governing they might not be able to be separated from Nevada Reno so those are the Mountain West potential candidates I want to talk about some other ones um and again I'm looking at this if I'm if I'm running the pack if I'm a a pack fan I'm an advocate for the the pack and I want to have the most value get to eight teams the the first two teams I'm looking at are out of the AAC and that is UTSA and North Texas these are teams that you I mentioned on another episode for the Mountain West before to add I think they're going to be on a lot of conferences lists uh they make a lot of sense um North Texas I believe is pretty close to Austin UTSA and San Antonio I mean two awesome markets get in that Texas Market you know growing schools they make a lot of sense uh I know they're not on the Pacific coast but if you can add some Texas markets I think they make a lot of sense uh the most sense to me if I was trying to get to two and I wasn't going to it was going to not poach any more Mountain West teams those would be the two I would go to I think the next group is probably Tain and rice uh Tain you know tain's probably about as far east as I would want to go oh no doubt a lot of people have mentioned Memphis and to me I don't I think that's a non-starter I think they have their eye uh on the ACC and I just don't think it makes a lot of sense for them to be in the pack Tain probably doesn't either but I've seen you know a combination of maybe Tain and rice together I don't think that's that's as likely and I don't think they're as appealing of targets as UTSA and North Texas but they're definitely on there um Texas State out of the Sun Belt a lot of people have been mentioning them I mean if you can go down and get two schools out of Texas I think that makes a lot of sense makes you marketable um you know gives you a lot of value um so two schools that everybody brings up it just happens over and over again Stanford and Cal well Stanford when you talk about smug pretend think they're better than everybody else the two schools you will see in the dictionary are Stanford and C they literally think they feel like they are at the very top Echelon of sports and Academia and they are high academic schools they've already said that's why they left the pack the first time because they didn't want to be in a conference with these these kind of schools I don't see them coming back they've already gone to the ACC locked into the grain of Rights um you know they would have to file suit like Florida State or CL unless the whole league just you know just disintegrates uh I just I don't see that happening I don't think it's realistic at least anytime in the near future it's just I I just don't see it happening now one last thing that I that I wanted to point out for the pack so there's two dates one July 2026 they need to get two more members to have eight teams that's the first thing that's got to be number one priority the second thing um is and again if you're looking from the perspective of the pack you want to advocate for the best path moving forward for them in 2027 the college football playoff is going to be reevaluated the new rules that came out were just part of this extension of the next two years everything could change in 2027 for the college football playoff so that is what the pack is trying to do get themselves in a position where they uh have you know they they can show on the field the performance that they are just as good as the Big 12 or whatever that's what they're trying to do yeah and the funny thing is about this is ironic you know if you don't laugh you'll cry kind of thing is look at the scenario we have playing out this year with Boise in the Mountain West is in a great position to get a to get that G5 spot uh and now we have Oregon State and Washington State the bees and the cougs are in a great position with Notre Dame losing to maybe get that that other spot out there uh the independent spot whatever you want to call it um to get an at large spot and so you know things are setting well on the field so that could pretend good things for the pack moving forward and again I don't want to break any Mountain West Hearts but looking at the perspective of the pack moving forward that's the two dates they need to have their eyes on is by July 26th we need to get to eight members and by 2027 when we re-evaluate the college football playoff we need to put oursel in the best position for TV value but also onfield performance so that we can show the committee hey we deserve we are just as good as the Big 12 we deserve a spot we are with whether it's a power conference or that all goes away whatever that designation but but they want to show that they're on par with those conferences for sure yeah great summary I appreciate it I was listening I was also trying to catch up on our commenters we have a lot we're up over 170 viewers Steve awesome it's a phenomenal night um so apparently we're over 200 now our producers updating it for us um I guess um what's the saying um misery loves company yes misery and and we were right I mean a year ago when we started this show we were with the beaves and the Cs when this happened to them and the the the you know the hit the fan and they had to fight for whatever we were there with them we shared their misery we said they got screwed and now you know yes misery loves company it's a big game and that's unfortunately and I think that's wolin's overall point is this conference realignment is just this big Musical Chairs game and and the just keeps running downhill and people keep getting screwed um and you just hate to see it I hated to see it before with the bees and cougs I hate to see this happening to the Mountain West and it's like who's the next victim of all this crap sure yeah well and I'm going to get to maybe some potential for the Mountain West I want to get into that we did an episode back in April I shared that again on X where we talked about potential either expansion or backfill of the Mountain West there was one school I think we really left out of that and I will bring them up today and it's a school you mentioned to me I want to mention a couple uh commenters here real quick first of all and I don't have everybody's name we love all the comments have at each other politely um and you know first thing I saw a lot of breathe JY we'll pay for your therapy JY um thank you guys I appreciate it I'm okay I let Steve talk so I could calm down a little bit but I'll ramp back up don't worry it doesn't take me take much to get me going um je uh laughed about the shirt and J I appreciate the shirt for those that don't know our buddy J Who's a common commenter he's on almost every life show he bought us the beef shirts the built not bought it's going to be a little bit for me to wear it again but I will wear it again don't don't don't worry um and then I also saw a question about and we talked about this in the very beginning but I know we have a lot of new people here about the uh exit fees and is the pack going to be paying the exit fees uh the president of San or I'm sorry of Fresno State commented that it's in the works that was what he said in their uh comments today um so it sounds like if not in full at least part of those exit fees or are going to be paid for by uh the pack uh I saw some comments about basketball and really you know we're a football podcast that's all we talk about really is is football we did get on the Mountain West basketball last year may do it again may do it again this year a little bit uh but it those are big dollars I mean when you're talking about uh those dollars that that they get out of um the tournament and everything like that and especially with SDSU doing as well as they've done they make significant money for conferences so you know we don't want to forget get about basketball and with SDSU moving potentially to the pack uh if this all goes through in 2026 that's some significant dollars there for you know positive for the pack and negative for uh the Mountain West because they've done really well recently um yeah go ahead okay uh I do so we just had a comment and I I want to take this question because I can be a little more independent okay um Tyler asks do we think that Gloria navarez looks bad in this situation or is that unfair criticism I love question I thought about this today you go and then I I do want to reply but go that's a great question Tyler go ahead so for for I'm an independent here I'm a big 10 fan and I have a you know a lot of sympathy for both the Mountain West and the pack the remaining two I've said I'm a beaver believer um you know I so what I'll say is I don't think this makes Gloria narez looks bad look bad at all in my opinion if you take everything that has happened uh over the last two years on on the whole uh her goal was to try and keep the Mountain West together this could have happened last year um she put together a deal last year a a um you know and and as part of that deal which which kind of saved the pack twoo but it also put a lot of good protections uh for the Mountain West and the Mountain West if if this is how it turns out if this is what happens with these four teams leaving yes it sucks but if she wouldn't have put together this deal the pack still could have poached them yes and they could have had not very much they're going to get a lot more money to rebuild to invest in their schools to invest in their athletic programs uh I think she did we see this over and over we see this out on the East Coast with the AAC and Conference USA when one big conference gets poached they poach the next one down and the next one down we see this happen I think she did did as best as you possibly can expect uh put as much Protections in for his her conference as possible and they're gonna get something out of this they're gonna get something instead of getting nothing which was a a total possibility so I think in the short term yeah people there are going to be some people that crap on her but to me I think she made the best out of a bad situation I'm I'll try to keep this as short as I can I agree with everything that you said um as a commissioner you have to do what's best for the majority of the schools if a vote is 75 you have to do what those seven members say you should do and if that happened here and four of those five that voted no for whatever the the case may be for Revenue sharing being different for X Y andz it could be a whole host of different things we talked about Revenue sharing earlier and Boise in San Diego State were always on the you got to split this up but they were the minority that's not on navarez right she works for the president she works for the majority of the membership now now do I think the mount did I think the Mountain West was strong was my head in the sand thinking that they're better than this was a was I naive yeah I was I was hopeful they they were better than this I'm not surprised by Boise State I'm not surprised by San Diego State I mean hell two years ago San Diego State said they were joining the pack and then they had to resend that all of that crap so this isn't surprising for the Aztecs in any stretch of the imagination um and and you know I think easy to blame a commissioner here um and I don't blame navaras as well and I want to talk about some of the the finances that you mentioned here that's where I was going to go next I mean the Mountain West is in store for some serious money unless negotiations happen that they they allow something lower which I don't know why I would do that uh but or maybe some sort of scheduling agreement with the pack I don't know in the future I mean who knows but I mean they're going to get $60 million give or take $60 million in exit fees from these four Schools they're going to get another $43 million in poaching penalties from the pack because of the agreement that you mentioned she did everything and the membership did everything that they could to protect themselves but if you have three to four members which is why we put the number at three to four long ago three to four members that want to do this they're going to do it and they were sold a bill of goods by the pack whether it's going to come under fruition or not I have no idea is it lipstick on a pig who freaking knows do I think the pack name is tarnished hell yeah I think the pack name is tged but it's a 100-year old conference you can make sides of all of that these four schools decided they want to move to the pack for whatever reason that is and they're in the minority eight other schools whether they chose not to accept invitations whether they didn't get invitations whatever the case may be eight of the four are still in the Mountain West and that was something else that came out in the comments will the Mountain West die and I believe there was a Dennis DOD article today kind of alluding to the death yes scattered to the winds the death of the Mountain West so that leads me to where I'm I'm going to go with my speculation here Steve and do I think the Mountain West is going to die I I have to give you two answers I'm sorry I do I think the Mountain West will die if there's a merger into the pack so I'm going to start with my most speculative thing first and I put this on X today if you guys follow me on X you're going to see that I said this and what what do you mean by that Jay how how is that possible um and you kind of alluded to this year a little bit earlier Steve so could this be the first shoe of two Sho shoes to force a dissolution of the Mountain West it could be super speculative JY going off on a tangent right now but hear me out if they dissolve the Mountain West these penalties all go away right the pack keeps all this money the schools don't have to pay these exit fees so if there's enough momentum from these four to start that ball rolling they rolling they have another eight months to or more 10 months to figure this out by June 30th of next year plenty of time to convince another four I'm sorry five members to dissolve the Mountain West does that become a win-win for both sides does then does the pack only have to accept eight or nine of the Mountain West schools and not 12 of the Mountain West schools under this new Revenue different Revenue distribution model and you get more for wins and all that kind of jazz who's make who's calling the shots these six schools are going to be calling the shots I know it's super speculative and it may not JY could be out on it I don't limb just saying crazy stuff but I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility here that this is the first shoe and the second shoe is going to be four or five I'm sorry five more schools in the Mountain West saying we've got to dissolve this because maybe four of us can go to the pack maybe Air Force actually gets to the AAC so they're with the other service we talked about that before and then maybe there's just three schools and I'm sorry to those three schools if that happens I I'm crapping on three schools right now 100% um but there's only three schools that are left out and eight members of the uh Mountain West join the pack it's a 10 member conference Air Force goes you have three leaving the back that's my speculative thing that I've been saying on X I know it's kind of out there but it's a possibility what do you think about that I want to offer one moment of levity I love levity okay if New Mexico were to go to the pack in a performance-based model they're they're going to have to pay the pack to be every year they're not going to get any money oh Lobos Lobos I'm sorry for Steve uh but anyway so that that's kind of that's my super speculative let's get to okay so that's how the Mountain West would die you know people say oh is the Mountain West GNA die to me the Mountain West dies if they dissolve the conference because of poti merg potential mer nine of 12 merging into the pack that's how the Mountain West eyes if that doesn't happen JY thinks the Mountain West doesn't die right they have eight schools even if they lose one or two they can add a few more so JY who are they going to add and again we did an episode on this I love The Montanas I don't know if they're interested right now specifically in joining uh an FBS conference but guess what as I said the Mountain West has a lot of money and yeah it's five I think it's 5 million now to now go from FCS to FBS $5 million out of $100 million at the mountain that's Chum change to get your membership back up to 10 or 12 they'll easily pay that for FCS schools I get it Mountain West fans you know you sound like I hate to say this Conference USA expect you know bringing in FCS but you're on the western side of the country there it's just it's not as populous and there's not as many schools to choose from so it is what it is I Love The Montanas you see what they do in FCS you see what Montana state has done I love both of those schools I'd be going I mean I'd go after both of them if you can get them ton of fun if you add the two Montanas the two dtas a lot of fun football so dtas would be the next two I get the dtas a little further out geography wise do they make sense in the Mountain West I'm not 100% sure the other one that we really left out of our last podcast and I think it's one that you mentioned about to me and since potentially Fresno's leaving who can you get to maybe try and fill that space Sacramento State I'd be going hard after them as well if there's one school you want right now I'd be going hard at Sacramento State getting back into California um well not back in you have San Rose state but keeping that the general vicinity that General market Mountain West should be looking hard right now at sack State paying their their fees and all that kind of jazz join us and if you have to take both Montanas you know we've seen that you know is it one or two you have to take them both take them both you're fine with that get them both bring those two in you bring sack state and maybe then I know you don't like these two schools but I'll be honest for where I'm at with the Mountain West with the time zones with the locality the regionality all of that I'm looking at New Mexico state or utap I just am I mean I know you don't like that Steve but you can add potentially four schools here to get you back to those 12 and and that's kind of where I'm at with it does the two Mont sack State and either New Mexico or state UTEP make up for a Boise a Fresno or san no it does that's just how this works but it's just how it works so that's where I'm at I mean I'm going hard at sack state right now sack state is my number one no doubt about that any thoughts on that Steve yeah I mean I agree like I said first of all if you had the two Montanas the two dtas you you're gonna have a fun conference like they play good football they play entertaining football right and what is the Mountain West known for it's you know you can sit down at 9:00 at night on you know Friday night Saturday night and watch some fun football watch some good football those fit the profile uh we've talked about the you know some of the issues with with UTEP and New Mexico State uh I'm not going to rehash that now I've already said my opinions on them but if you're trying to rebuild and let's say you you decide not to go with the the the two dtas you get the two Montanas and you add those to that's fine uh you know it fills out the conference uh and gets you maybe in some markets you want to be in I love the idea of Sacramento State uh I saw some conflicting reports today I saw that there's a lot of donors and boosters and business people associated with a school that want to get them up to FBS and would love the chance I I saw speculation of either going to the Mountain West or even getting invite to the pack which I thought was a bit crazy uh but then I saw other speculation that the that the school was going to announce oh we're happy in the Big Sky well I I don't I I just I have a hard time believing that if they had the opportunity go to the Mountain West I think they be it' be a great addition um and so you know maybe you grab the the two Montanas maybe you grab New Mexico state or utap and you add Sacramento State uh I think that's a great way to fill out the conference so David jurgenson with another Super Chat I apologize it took us a bit to get to this thank you David uh we really always appreciate you doing those he asked about uh pack 2 money whether it's really going to be that much more than the Mountain West money um and then also are there any other Mountain West teams on the fence and could that push them to the Pack 12 the only one to me that I think potentially could be on the fence is UNLV you know we we know there's some issues potential issues with the state of Nevada um I saw some uh rumoring that maybe that was an invite as well but they couldn't actually sign it yet because of uh state issues and board of educational issues we don't know that to be a fact I think UNLV is right up there uh as potentially the next Mountain West team if they were to offer uh one um and you know in terms of um you know money as Steve said earlier we're speculating at this point I we don't really know uh you know who who holds what certainly if they get UNLV I mean you look at the big the big markets they're back in California with San Southern California with San Diego State they're in the valley with Fresno State they're in Denver is area with Colorado State although I know all of our Wyo fans tell me you see a lot more Wyoming uh fans in Denver than you do Colorado State be that as it may you're at least in that area so they're definitely pulling some of the bigger markets completely out of the Mountain West into the pack so you got to think that the money is going to be more in the pack than what it would be uh in the Mountain West depending upon who maybe they add but the Montas are not going to bring you unfortunately that media value that that you're losing in in some of those schools and David a couple people answered and David great question welcome back we haven't seen you on our live episodes I've been thinking about you whenever I watch Big Red Roll people when I watch them roll Colorado there was a couple answers Luke Fletcher which we both follow him on Twitter um the the um this one here uh I more than four or is it I think it was up a little bit just under his yeah Luke F so the current uh Mountain West deal is they're getting 4 million per out of their current TV deal and he says Pack 12 could be 10 to 12 million I actually saw speculation today that the pack believes an eight team confer eight team conference they could get between 12 and 15 million we'll see if they actually get that um but you could be talking about two or three times the amount of Revenue po potentially all of that is potential it's all speculation all speculation all potential yeah uh so I want to get back down here real quick see what people I know we were getting a lot of uh Sac State love when we brought them up I know Luke was talking uh UTEP and New Mexico State as well um I just like that area you know UTEP it's weird because it's that little tiny piece that's in the Mountain Time Zone but you're also in Texas and a lot of people say that's not Texas it's New Mexico or Mexico I get all that but you're still in Texas um but anyway let me get back down here real quick quick uh anything else you want to say there Steve no I'm interested to see more of the questions uh I know on the East Coast here it's after 10 o'clock I know we're losing some of our easties Idaho is one that came up okay they tried it I'm not sure they want to try it again uh they kind of been back and forth um I definitely go sax State I see Connor says sax state or sax sack State yes sir uh there was another one below that our chat is unfortunately causing some issues for me here um Sean said as well sack State um someone someone said don't dog the Lobos yeah directed he always dog I got to keep him honest I I try to try to keep him not dogging the Lobos uh Luke says yes UTEP and New Mexico State sack State and Utah Tech okay we didn't talk about Utah Tech but he did me Luke mentions three that we mentioned here yeah that that New Mexico state utap and saak St they think are all strong uh potentials for uh the Mountain West another NMSU a lot of people seem to be giving that some love um okay so Zach yeah you know he says bring in Texas State and UTSA and these were schools that we talked about on that episode we were really big into trying to get into Texas but I'll be honest with you right now uh Zach um if if both the pack and the Mountain West the pack six as we know them and the Mountain West 8 as we know them are going after Texas State and UTSA I'm sorry given what just happened the Pack's going to get those two schools I don't disagree with you if they're interested and the packs not interested absolutely the Mountain West should go after Texas State and UTSA two schools we mentioned on that show and I think we had to do an update for that Steve it's been a little bit I think we need to revisit that we'll do another update on that uh but Zach is into them and I'm totally down with them um realistically right now I don't know if the Mountain West can get them and it hurts me to say that Matthew blood talks about the Pack 12 sorry things being stupid there you go uh he talks about the the Pack 12 that he thinks they should add Memphis UTSA he'd also love for them to add USF and tan but doubt it here's the thing about for me Memphis and USF those are the next two schools in line for an ACC invite uh and where those schools are located uh it just to me makes so much more sense for them in the ACC uh and I think that they they think that that would be a better fit um so I just don't see those as as real likely pack schools even tane is hard for me unless unless you add like three Texas schools and and maybe tane comes along you know with them but I think that's a little rough yeah the only other thing I want to point out here we appreciate all the comments again um I I saw some comments about you know will the pack go back to Apple and do an apple plus deal little little uh worry uh because that's just another subscription another thing that people want to do um we'll have to wait and see you know obviously they do have that relationship with the CW The CW has been very uh open that they want to keep building programming they're looking for that um I I would guess that the CW's pretty high on the list of the pack in terms of of moving forward just because of their reach and all that kind of stuff but but who knows what's going to happen I mean we we've seen what's happened with Paramount some of the massive games early on that's gone to Paramount I mean whether we like it or not streaming is where everything's going to be going it just seems like people are just hesitant conferences are hesitant to take that jump and the the networks are pulling them into it right like I just how it seems to me well NBC has been fully embracing peacock I I think the I think the conferences want a mixture of both uh NBC has fully embraced peacock some big games have been on peacock uh another thing to keep in mind ACC we've talked about this in our Florida State episodes there's a very it's there's a very uh I don't know if it's a good chance there's a plausible scenario where the where ESPN opts out of the ACC contract this year um if that were to happen What would where would they go could they see some value in a pack contract they used to love having that the pack you know Pack 12 after dark yes um there's with with the SEC schools that's their main conference all of those are you know basically in the East you know you do have Texas and Oklahoma Texas A&M but it's it's mostly in the East so could they add some nighttime time slots and maybe we would see a deal where you know ESPN also you know gets part of the package and maybe an apple gets part of the package we'll see I think there's some possibilities there yeah all right hey well we had to make this uh an episode tonight because just this is what we do the pack the Mountain West um I I have a lot to think about Steve I lot I'm glad we don't have to do a pick episode tomorrow because I'd be on serious tilt I'm glad the pick episode came yesterday uh but hey we got up to to about 20 viewers make sure you like this I saw some of our people giving shout outs to to you know to like the video give us a thumbs up um if you're new to the channel I see a lot of new people uh commenting thank you so much thanks for joining us uh not sure how you found it through X or maybe it just popped up on on uh YouTube or whatever subscribe we do everything Mountain West we do everything pack we do everything Big 10 as I commented maybe we're going to become a three conference channel here in another year and a half if things move forward Lord knows I'm not going to be giving up on I'm going to call it the what was the word the what four the uh uh uh disloyal four the disloyal 4 I'm not going to give up on them I will still follow them it'll take me a little bit by 26 I'll be okay by 26 I'm going to be okay but I'll tell you what we've really brought in the beeses and the cougs so I will absolutely follow whatever happens here the Mountain West and the pack they're going to become part of the big mountain I love Western football so I I don't really give a c actually after I get over this emotionally I may actually love this but you know we we thank you guys so much you got two things Steve needs to talk us about two things I got to get off my chest here one the name ain't changing no matter what happens the name ain't changing we're the big mountain we're the big mountain forever so just get that out of your mind if you think we're going to be changing our name uh the name ain't changing the second thing I think we can all agree whether you're a Mountain West fan that's getting left behind whether you're a pack fan whether you're a beaver you're a coug whatever I think we can all get behind this one campaign and that is it's it's you know political election season but I have one campaign in mind you're not getting political are you no well I have one campaign the only campaign I care about right now say it jenty for Heisman come on Genty you got to get him on the stage I mean if he could win it that'd be great but we got to get him on the stage make sure you're giving him likes giving him all kinds of Love on X best running back in the cont I don't care 10 yards a carry nine touchdowns in two games okay I know there's Mountain West School tools that don't like Boise but you got to get on this we got to get this boy on the stage he's well well worthy of it Mr Ed I see you we talked too much and we didn't read enough comments I apologize we've never had 20 200 people before I don't know how many comments that we have uh but we have too many we tried to get to some of them I apologize if you have a comment that we didn't get to put it in not the live chat but put it in the chat of the uh of the actual video we read all of them we try to comment on most of them but put it in there and we will answer it I promise for you Mr Ed we haven't seen you for a few episodes Mr Ed's a tough critic man Mr red hey he's he's a he's a m i get it we got we got to step up our game so if anybody
