game day I am Chris Lee joined by Blake level we are going to talk about a lot of SEC football day we got 15 games we got our first SEC on SEC matchup we've got the much anticipated Texas trip to the big house we got Tennessee and North Carolina State playing in Charlotte like we got at least at least a half dozen games here I think worth watching for one reason or another and even on the the ones that don't stick out we're going to try to tell you some things of significance we were just hours away from kickoff of our College Football Saturday can't wait for it all yeah before we hop in as you can tell I'm traveling so if you guys get any uh technical difficulties on your side watching me just say hey Blake you don't look great right now on the screen so maybe you know go restart your we're not we're not going to go all 16 in depth I did five okay put game rankings because I thought we were going to do like the top five I had no idea we were doing all 16 so I I look we I will mention them because I think everybody deserves a they may get a a 15-second mention and then I came up with something for every game okay because oh boy everybody's games are not equal but I I think we can agree number one on the radar is Texas's trip to Michigan and frankly Texas I mean it's crazy Texas is a seven-point favorite the defending national champion but then it doesn't seem like it's enough if you watch if you watch both teams play last week yeah well Sam nailed it there we thrw Sam's uh thing up on the yeah anyways yeah I I think if you watch Michigan play resno State last week it's I did not have look I know it's obvious that this is probably the game that you know it's a top 10 matchup and all that I get it but I actually did not have this at the top of my game rankings I'll tell you the game I had in a second but just for pure entertainment value because I do think Texas and we'll find out right I think Texas is just I think they're much better at this point um this early in the season I think you know you guys talked about it Michigan still feels like just a work in progress and I know it's one game and it's so hard we do this every year like we overreact to one game every single season but like that's the difference right between football and baseball and basketball is you just don't get as many games so you have to kind of take what you see in front of you and um yeah Texas look really good it's Colorado State Michigan um you know I think looks like team still trying to figure some stuff out against Fresno State but hey this game is a road game and so it's never it's not going to be easy but I just think Texas seems to be in a better position but we'll find out here's my issue with Michigan you've got to be able to score points in this area of college football and I just don't know that I trust Michigan to score enough to keep up with what I think could be a juggernaut of a Texas offense I agree I mean we said like you know it's funny we were talking about like the subtractions from Texas offense last year we saw one of those on this play Thursday night is Xavier worthy took his first touch to the house for the Chiefs and you know you're looking around thinking hey these are the guys that you know they have to replace and yeah like it just didn't matter so um in week one it didn't matter we'll see you know in the Long Haul how it looks but yeah they they've still got a lot of Playmakers there we talked about the transfer you know wide receivers coming in so I I don't know I mean it's it's a road game I think that's you know if you're banking on Michigan it's that maybe they just weren't pulling out everything they have in week one against Fresno State because why why would they if they didn't feel like they needed to but the same time Texas is um yeah I mean it's a playoff team from last year I know Michigan was the national champion but you know it's not like that Texas doesn't have I think the tools to to go win this game so by the way you can watch this one on Fox so I guess you can watch it anywhere um I'm gonna have to get a new TV provider before kickoff today oh that's right are you one of the are you one of the Direct TV people wow yeah and and here's here's my issue I would have switched later this week or already I've got a I've got a Braves problem you can't get them and all the ESPN in most places no so no yeah that's I think I think if if you were in the chat um let us know if you're a Direct TV customer and what your what your resolution is for this week are you waiting it out have you switched to somebody else I'm just interested to know I think I'm going fubo no Chris hold on Chris hold on a second okay we are streaming live on YouTube okay YouTube TV is your solution they don't have the Braves I know but listen get the YouTube TV then go add the whatever that package is called the b or what whoever the whoever the do that is that an option they have a separate package I think you can add on you have to watch it separately so like it's a different platform or whatever um you guys can can add in your thoughts like Hulu live is another option um but I'm pretty sure that Bal has like a separate package you can do but YouTube TV is still for my money the best option is and then you can just do that packages but but you guys can can weigh in uh on on everything else in the chat so a lot of helpful people in the chat right now that TR Chris will need to go through there so all right uh number two and this this might be your number one because I think this could be a sneaky good game and maybe even an upset um is it Oklahoma State traveling to Arkansas was that your your number one okay then then I think I know you're going SEC on SEC is your number two nope what oh you're going Tennessee and Charlotte I just want to see guys just sling the ball around so to me that's Tennessee NC State um well because I think that's going to for I think that's going to be the most entertaining game but we'll we'll find out but I just think the the potential is there Tennessee's offense NC State's offense Stars across the board in terms of Playmakers you got questions in the secondary for Tennessee can NC State stop Tennessee's offense I I think this is going to be a lot of fun well here's the reason I ranked that one low when the line came out it was seven I was like are you kidding me and it's since gone up to 10 I still don't think that's enough points I've ranked a couple games ahead of that one that because I think they're going to be closer games that goes into the goes into the process here but I mean that that is going to be one I'm going to definitely be watching I mean Nico looked tremendous in week one you know I I could see him having a get to New York Heisman Trophy kind of season the defense is kind of what I'm I'm looking at there I want to see if Tennessee can get some stops because they're going to be facing as you mentioned a a passing game in their own right yeah I think it's going to be again I I think just it's like we didn't really know in game one because you know we we we did try to do the mental gymnastics last week talking about Chattanooga and like hey you know it's not a bad they're not they're not a bad FCS team but Tennessee just as we said the problem with playing Tennessee if you're a team like that is line of scrimmage and it's a matter of you just cannot accurately simulate Tennessee's offense like it's just until you're actually out there it's impossible so um what what are you laughing about how about t Sam oh well I mean that's nothing new I mean that's a daily occurrence but anyway that's nothing new but anyways I again I know Texas Michigan's the game that it's going to get all the attention as it should uh but I think entertainment value I'm I'm I'm looking forward to Tennessee and NC State I think there's there's plenty of that there um even though like you said that line has gone speak speaking of another line that I think has been interesting in terms of movement and you can tell me where you have this one ranked in your rankings but aubert and cal um that one was 13 and a half at one point now it's 10 and a half in au's favor I did not think it would go up but I didn't necessarily think it would go that far down there may be something I'm missing again I'm traveling I haven't been exactly up to date uh in the past 24 hours on anything that that I may have missed but um yeah so I I think that's one that I'm curious about because I just I look at Cal and they were a turnover machine last year um and I know the quarterback now is a sophomore instead of being a Freshman but I think Auburn's offense is going to be way better we don't try to go too far with an Alabama A&M result but I don't know this is I think this is a tough game for Cal their defense going to have to do it all now last year that was an ugly Game Chris as we remember 14 10 but I just think the difference this year is I know Cal still has Jay not and you know that that's good enough offensively but I I just think Auburn has potentially laughed him on offense and so I I wonder how that one plays out but well what I don't think Cal got to 300 yards of offense last week against 273 I think and and they slowed out down I mean the the model that I put together had this as a 14 and a half point game and I don't know I just don't get it cows having to travel across the country yeah I don't I don't I don't know what somebody knows that we don't know but that that was one where I don't know well here's what I think here's what I think I think it's is there still are there still significant questions about Auburn's offense and is it that much better like we did see last week but I think remember the opponent is you know it's just not the same opponent and so C's defense that they they've got some things like they can I mean we saw it last year but I I don't know I'm just I tend to think that the reason it's going down maybe is because I don't know I just I tend to believe that it has to be something to do with just hesitation on going too far in the wrong direction with Auburn's offense and maybe just getting overhyped after one game but I I'm with you I I tend to look at this game as one that road game they team that's got you know they've got cam Coleman like they they' just got a lot and I just don't trust C's offense in terms of not making mistakes here um so yeah yeah we'll see see I had that as six on my list I guess I bought into Auburn enough and and it's kind of dumb to do that after a pounding of Alabama A&M but I just think the added what they add in the receiver room alone Blake even if they're not a ton better at quarterback those guys can make plays at the guys he had a year ago couldn't make and that takes a lot of pressure off jarquez Hunter that's going to open up some running lanes and some opportunities I I think just e even if pton Thorne's not a ton better I feel like their offense gets better just by what they've done and what they've got in the back field so I think their offense will have some easy opportunities because I think they will force some turnovers and get the short field at least a couple times in this game and that's why I wonder if they run away with this one but we'll find out I mean again some of these are bigger spread and like we look at some of these SEC teams and we saw how dominant they were in week one against inferior opponents and we're like okay how how far do we go with that right and I think that's always a dangerous game especially like said earlier Midwest picker was talking about you know you're betting on a road you know team here as the favorite going into Michigan the defending national champion like that's a dangerous thing to do and it's the same thing you know with like Tennessee and it's the same maybe with auburn where you're like okay these aren't just pushover opponents anymore and there are going to be some things that we didn't see the weaknesses of some of these teams last week but we know coming into the season there were things we were talking about we like that could be a potential weakness or something that is a work in progress and so now we're going to find out just how much they get tested today in a couple of those areas and I think it's the same for auber's offense the same for Tennessee secondary those kind of things we talked about so um yeah so I'm curious all right so back to the game rankings real quick we've got you've got Texas Michigan at one at two you have what do you have Kentucky South Carolina Arkansas Oklahoma State Arkansas Oklahoma State all right let's talk I really want to see what Arkansas's got everybody kind of it's kind of like they got Bobby patrino but yeah they're Arkansas pitman's going to get fired and Pine Bluff is beyond bad but they scored 10 touchdowns and 10 possessions we know patrino has a history of making offense is better when Jimbo Fischer's thumb is not on them and I just liked what they got out of J Quin and Jackson and ton green just the eyeball test watch them like man these guys are athletic they give them something they didn't have a year ago the model that I've got got this as a five-point game which means on a neutral field they see two points difference between Arkansas and Oklahoma State spread on this one is seven I just want to see I mean like if Arkansas goes into still waterer and pulls the upset which I think seems doable we're talking about a a very different Outlook to the season for Arkansas yeah I mean I think with his number opened at nine and a half um you said it's down to seven and a half I think about online maybe maybe I think seven maybe I'll find it uh yeah so I mean you said it like you know it's still n and a half about online it's it's gone up and down a bit yeah it's gone up and down a bit um it looks like it actually maybe swinging in the direction of Oklahoma State here but um I think it's you said you said what I was going to say it's the Bobby patrino effect in my opinion like it is you're putting your trust if you're if you're picking Arkansas as the plus 295 moneyline play here um you're doing it on the the basis that you think Bobby patrino can push the right buttons to get the most out of them in a game like this we saw what they did last week but now I think you are just banking on the idea that okay he's probably got a few extra tricks of his sleeve we didn't see last week and now this is where you bring them out in a game like this and so I'm I'm curious you know just like I said with other teams too where we saw what happened last week now we get real competition in terms of teams that can match up with you at the skill positions they can match up with you up front potentially and I just think it's it's always you know fascinating to see how that plays out um so yeah if Arkansas wins this game it's because Bob patrino I think is calling a fantastic game and I think as you said it's really just a matter of him understanding that they got some offensive weapons on that team and I think he knows how to use them and we saw some of that I mean again we saw it last week but I think he knows you know at least there's a confidence there what he's working with and um so yeah I mean as always when you have these kind of games don't turn the ball over and you know you may be okay if you don't give the the opposition a short feel so now the one issue we hadn't discussed is can they stop Al Gordon well yeah that's that could be a problem but that could be a problem and that might be White's nine points that could be entertaining I think you're right ranking that at two like there there's a lot of entertainment value I think in this game as well so if you're looking at where did you have Tennessee NC State did you have it at three I had it at four yeah so you had Kentucky South Carolina at three yeah and and that one I mean I I could have put that one I mean you you kind of have to put Texas Michigan won despite misgivings about Michigan because that's a game of national significance that's that's two teams that got picked by a lot of people to be in the playoffs so you can't really justify moving that one down from that spot if South Carolina had just done anything on offense last week I mean I'm I'm still intrigued don't get me wrong I mean they may come out and look a lot different Lenor sers is the kind of player that you don't have to face a lot and and maybe they get better the defense was pretty good last week I mean Kentucky we still don't know a lot about what it's going to look like offensively new quarterback you've had injuries at the tailb position I I've been a big believer in what they've got coming in but we need to see it and again it goes back to what I said about Michigan I just don't trust teams that can't move the ball and I thought what we saw from Carolina in week one was problematic here's what I think's interesting about this game I think spread at one point was like 10 and a half and it's nine now in kuy's favor but here's the bigger thing and I think that our Guy Brian Edwards and Jay gon I think they brought this up on the betting show on Friday the over under in this game 41 and so if you're looking at Kentucky as a nine or 10-point favorite in this game Chris where the total is 41 like that kind of tells you something right where you feel like man this could be a kuy's defense kind of controls things here a bit and if you look at the last three games I was looking at this the other day if you look at the last three games these two teams have played South Carolina won last year in Columbia 1714 South Carolina won the year before in Lexington 2414 and then Kentucky won the year before in in Columbia 16 to10 so like they have they have played lower scoring games and close games for that you know part and so again if you're thinking KY is just going to run away with this you know at least the past three games kind of tell you that this is kind of how these two teams have played they've played lower scoring games that have been you know kind of decided by a couple possessions here or there um in terms of how the game swings so I think that's something that I'm curious about and and I I don't remember if if Brian and Jay were on this too but I know I've heard a lot of people say this week remember we're not just doing this from a betting perspective but I think you can get good Insight on where people stand on this game no part of this in terms of like I just don't know what you're going to get from South Carolina I feel like I know a little bit more about Kentucky but can I really say that after only seeing them for a couple quarters last week so I don't know this is this is a tough game to call well look there's a couple things ky's offense it has been a while since they brought any consistency it seems like Mark stops is changing coordinators on that side of the ball every year I don't know if there's a I we don't really spend a lot of time talking about that I don't know what that means why that's been such a problem you've also got a quarterback and Brock vandagriff last year at Georgia didn't complete a pass I mean think of all the games Georgia had that were blowouts he was 0 for three on the season and now look to be fair I think there was a lot of stuff in the air about Landing spots before that season was over and Kentucky got mentioned so I guess if you're Kirby smart you're thinking I already know my quarterback's going to Kentucky why am I going to groom him you know for for a team in our league we're playing next year so I I get that but there there's enough questions with kuy's offense and you brought up the other thing this matchup you just have some teams in this league that no matter what is in front of you like Tennessee Florida one of those how many times have we gone to that game Thinking Tennessee would win and and Florida pulled a a shocker for whatever reason Shane Beamer's kind of had their number so I don't think this is a L dunk either I just I have a hard time trusting what I saw offensive and and I'll tell you the other thing Blake if rocket Sanders had looked better last week then I'd feel a little bit better but I'm just worried he just doesn't seem to be anything like the back he was two years ago well Mike brings up a good point here and the guys were also talking about this this week was you look at the the injury history and how it's impacted the series with Kentucky and South Carolina which certainly plays into the number as we said these being lower scoring type games potentially and how South Carolina you you know has has taken advantage of some of those opportunities and so um yeah so I think that is kind of interesting too it's kind of one of those weird things um that's played out in this series history but I could still see a similar setup here though because again like we said we have unknowns in terms of the scoring on both sides um but you know I just you said it maybe this is just one of those games that's just bound to be closed somehow um even if it's not pretty but it's almost like sometimes we look at week one and we're like it's the hardest to predict is week one because you just you know you spend all offseason thinking about these teams and what exact how is it going to differ from your expectations but I almost think it's like week two when you have what you see in week one you're like okay then how do we start to figure out an SEC on SEC game when you have some of these teams especially like you said South Carolina barely beats Old Dominion last week everybody's you know oh no what's going on and then you know Kentucky only plays what two quarters and five minutes or whatever it was so yeah like it's just sort of a different setup but kck's a almost double digit favorite you would think for a reason and so um yeah I think curiosity um is high for this one here's another one where I have curiosity I actually rank this one a step ahead of of Auburn Cal Mississippi State and Arizona state two one and0 teams both dominated the stat sheet offensively last week Kenny Dillingham feels like he's got Iona state in a much better position they throttled Wyoming last week what was it 47-6 this is the typical not only you traveling out west on a long flight I don't know what the route from starkfield to tempy is but it can't be easy you got all that heat and I know State plays in it you got a you got a what a a 930 Central kickoff I think I'm still leaning Arizona State just because I just think that so many of Mississippi state's guys guys are just guys we hadn't seen play any meaningful football and the weers on a state dominated week one I think you got to get a lot of confidence out of that but that's a game that intrigues me too just quickly to uh to shout out Dylan here he gives us the $1.99 Super Chat we appreciate that Dylan uh Chris Brock Vandergriff was 0 of three the previous two seasons combined last year okay 12 of 18 um which 12 on there was his exact stat line uh in his first game for so there you go he matched his total in game one but nonetheless we appreciate the $199 Super Chat from Dylan there and anybody else who wants to leave a super chat you can that will guarantee you we get your comments um and yeah I think Mississippi state's another one of those teams where it's like you kind of knew what they would do to Eastern Kentucky but now it's we came into the season thinking this is a big rebuild for Jeff lebby we're curious to see how it plays out um and now you know I keep calling it The the Pack 12 after dark game right but it's it's not really that um anymore um man shout out shout out Pack 12 Chris um but it's the what is it the Big 12 after dark now game here with this one so at least for yeah I mean late yeah it's l at least for this year so late start um but yeah I just this another one where like if I were you know a hardcore better or whatever which you know again I'm not but it's almost thinking man I don't know what you're going to get here from Mississippi State I just I don't have a great feel just based on what we saw a week ago because remember again the expectation was that they're just having to reload at a lot of positions um and how quickly that comes together I don't know but this will be a great opportunity to find out right because this is as we said I mean this is a think about if they win this game right then you know maybe you start to change your expectations a little bit from Mississippi State and um again I don't know if that happens because what I think the the number now it's only five and a half in Arizona State's favor but this is one of those games you expect to get on up there I think the the over under is almost to around 60 now so um yeah but you know curious to see what Jeff lebby's offense does here against um the Sun Devils yeah the look ahead part is what kind of makes this intriguing because if they get this one they got Toledo next week which is typically maybe the best team in the Mac so they're not a pushover but if you can win out in tempy you can win that one you get Florida the next week in your backyard God only knows what Florida's going to look like we'll talk about the gator in a minute and and then okay then comes a brutal portion you go you got to go to Texas and you really don't have a super well I mean the the Arkansas game that's that's in your backyard so maybe you got a shot I mean I think if you win today you can kind of squint and see a bowl you you don't and and that's going to be hard to do yeah Toledo for what it's worth just um I had to look it up real quick yeah they they were picked second in the in the Mac um they got three first place votes Miami Ohio was pied picked first so pretty close neck and neck so yeah that's still a tough game um no no matter what probably so um all right would be about a 10-point favorite next week based on what I've got right now I think so yeah there you go um all right Chris we've got what one through five complete one through six one through six and I thought there was a big drop off between six and seven Oklahoma temple is my next game and they're gonna um excuse me they beat Temple last week it's um Houston this week and I think they're going to win probably by 30 or more but I want to see a little bit more out of their offense want to see what they do I'm I'm I haven't looked it up I'm presuming they're gonna hold Branson Hickman out they'll get him a chance to maybe experiment with some o line combinations but I want to see I want to see them put their foot down a little bit more offensively I know they pulled Gavin Sawchuk early with the I think a soft tissue issue I just want to see the the defense I feel like we know what we're getting but I want to see more out of that offense y Oklahoma's what 27 and a half something like that 28 point favorites in this game like you said I think it's certainly um yeah I think they they should take care of business but I mean that was that was the talk right coming out of it as we talked about um you know you had what multiple wide receiver injuries to last week for for Oklahoma also and you know that so I think that's you know yeah I think that's going to be big talking point moving forward but this is a team they should beat um and yeah I think this is probably one that if you start to get into these range of games today it's it's looking at things like that like teams that you saw that were dominant score-wise in week one and now you kind of take some of those things that people like well that wasn't exactly great I think what we were talking about the third down conversions or that kind of stuff um and yeah so like I think that's kind of what you're you're trying to see out of these games here where they're still four touchdown favorites um it's just you want to like you said see them kind of put the foot on put the foot down a little bit on these um kind of opponents so I've got Florida Sanford at eight and that's for two reasons one DJ lagway number number two it's already going poorly for Billy Napier and I don't see where that has got a great ending and number three we remember what happened the last time sford in Florida played boy don't don't remind anyone well don't remind um yeah I I mean this is like that fullon just what what could happen here type game where it's you know you're thinking okay as bad as it was last week it can't possibly be one of these games and we've seen this so many times right where it's like come in 36 and a half point spread and you're thinking all right this just come on guys this isn't even going to be close but then maybe you see like early on you're like oh boy it's seven to nothing get into the first quarter 7 to3 you know and then oh boy like what's going on here and is is that hangover effect there I don't it shouldn't be for this game but like you said I think it's I just this thing is just it's wild that we're here one game into the season but I mean we talked about like Florida schedule is so brutal like you know if you want to chalk this one up as a win go ahead but you just keep looking forward after this you're thinking oh boy like how does this all wind up for the Gators this season after what we saw in week one next we' got Alabama South Florida that was a lot closer than anybody expected last year now I think that Alabama had some internal turmoil coming in around the quarterback position coming into that game that's I've got a source that's tied into that program that that kind of told me that was a dynamic in that game last year and and I think now that South Florida put a scare into Alabama last year it makes it a little less easy for Alabama to overlook the Bulls this time but Alex golish really improved that program a year ago also so there's that big ball I think Alabama wins comfortably but if if it doesn't happen that way we do have last year to look at well big baller Brad has checked in this morning Chris also part of it just means more tier here at Southeastern 16 oh big baller Brad has been consuming our basketball content this week uh our interview with John rosstein talking about the tide and also our interview with Alabama's Chris youngbl as well um but um big Waller brat weighing in this is my my my Stone Cold lead pipe lock of the week Chris Le all right okay this game looks nothing like it did last year that is my that is my guarantee to you is that I just cannot imagine this game looking anything like it did last year that game was brutal um because like you said the quarterback Carousel last year for Alabama at this point in time uh and and yeah I still think this one should be a bit better for the tide here and remember this is also in Tuscaloosa so I think that is also um a difference here in this particular one so um you know we said and I keep saying I've repeated it twice this week I don't think Western Kentucky is as bad as people thought they were in terms of like you know coming out of that score-wise Alabama beat up on a pretty good Western Kentucky team so I you know anybody who was predicting the downfall of the Crimson Tide uh I don't exactly think you saw any signs of that in week one but um yeah we'll find out how it looks in week two here for the tide okay next one up A&M you really did rank all these games Chris I did well there's there's a little something to look for I'm excited to get to number 16 yeah that that'll be a real whizbang match up there but no seriously I you want to see you want to see Conor Wagman get better you want to see more confidence out of their passing game that's kind of my thing to watch with them and need because if if they don't boy you you really got some questions um I'll give you that one and an Old Miss I'll tell you what if I were a batting man I think oh miss and 41 I I think they're they're in obliterate everybody mode there are two coaches in this league that just don't have any Mercy for anybody anywhere any time if they've got the the personnel and Lane keen's one of them Josh Hy's the other one but I think I mean I could see this being a a 65 nothing type game did Derek Mason never he never beat Lane kein right when he was at Vanderbilt he didn't beat kein he beat Old Miss but he didn't beat kein okay I couldn't remember how the years lined up but okay well yeah um almost lost the Tennessee Tech I mean yeah I think it's 43 on BET online right now is the number for that one um I'm kind of with you I I just I think oh or yeah I just think they are you you and I in our composite rankings in the the staff rankings I think we continue to be the high men on Old Miss like we keep ranking them at two in the SEC
