the men were just 20 and 21 today their families are mourning the men's Vehicles spun out of control last night and smashed into an oncoming bus on the Lion's Gate Bridge as Alan Waterman reports the car was crushed almost beyond recognition it was a site that was both horrific and senseless at 11:45 last night a car was northbound on the Lion's gate when it spun out of control and collided with us southbound West Vancouver Transit bus with 15 people on board the car was a Mazda 6 similar to this one but it's hard to tell from the wreckage two men 20 and 21 years old from Richmond were inside uh one of the men were pronounced was pronounced dead at the scene and the second man died I believe on his way to the hospital uh so obviously our thoughts with their families today as they deal with their loss four people on the bus escaped with just minor injuries police say Witnesses reported seeing the car car just before the crash traveling at high speed while the names of the driver and his passenger have not been released there's a lot of chatter about them on rev scene a website for sports car enthusiasts there are postings such as rip jnt and rip can't believe you're gone with the Lionsgate bridge closed until just before 7 this morning traffic was detoured to the second Narrows many commuters were diverted to the seus terminal late today the bridge was back to its usual heavy volume with speeding drivers seemingly oblivious to what had happened here just a few hours before traffic investigators are now analyzing data trying to figure out exactly what happened the traffic cameras that line the causeway and bridge deck will be checked to see if they captured the crash the coroner is waiting to see if alcohol or drugs were a factor Alan Waterman CBC News Vancouver
