well hello all you Minecrafters Patrick here live action Patrick this time that's rber switching up the editing style which makes sense because today we're talking about different editing and visual Styles the Minecraft movie trailer just dropped and people are tearing into the visuals like I knew it was going to be live action but I didn't think it would look like this it doesn't look bad it's just it's it's not what people expected it's not what I expected animation is hard this is true this type of animation and special effects these are far more difficult than your typical 2D or 3D animation but it looks well done the same way like those old school Minecraft and real life pictures looked but the thing about those Minecrafting real life images is that they were intentionally uncanny they were well done but they were well done to be uncanny like that was their purpose it is unintentional or at least I think unintentional in the Minecraft movie it truly does just fall into that uncanny valley of Aesthetics like it's not realistic enough to look real I mean it's based off a video game like of course that's not going to be realistic but it's definitely not fake enough to be cute or charming the same way say the Minecraft trailers worked side note I think a movie in the Minecraft trailer style or even the way I have it right now where like it's in the universe of Minecraft that would look better than this a movie in the cartoony Minecraft trailer style would go so freaking hard man and like the story of Steve and Alex that would be so cute but instead with we got we got Steve like someone in the comments here said they just put Black Jack and a blue shirt and called it a day that's what it really does feel like it just feels like they just wanted recognizable characters in a realistic setting and that isn't what Minecraft is why did they pick Minecraft for this I think the main reason why it looks so unsettling isn't really the design of the creatures or anything like those are uncanny and unnatural but if they were on their own it would look kind of cool and interesting the in congruity of mixing this unnatural aesthetic with real life humans live action and then just special affecting the like you have Jack Black here and Jason mimo with the crafting table that's what's most uncanny about this trailer they were stuck in this position where they wanted famous actors to be on the poster and for you to be able to see their faces but they also had to like make the world of Minecraft other movies have proven that you don't need the faces like just the voices alone the presence of the actors is enough to get name recognition I don't why do we keep having this problem guys come on ultimately though this is just a 1 and a half minute trailer for the movie I'm still hopeful that uh it'll be an interesting movie like I'm still going to go see it'll be fun to watch I think ripping into the Aesthetics is Justified just because of how unnatural it looks but I do think that a style like this could be very intriguing to watch like it definitely caught all of our eyes looking at it anyway so U yeah that was it just wanted to talk about the Minecraft visual style because I saw it and I just can't get it out of my head get out of me get out of me head all right that about does it I do have actual videos on the way by the way I'm just a big Minecraft guy and I just had to make this so yeah goodbye
