[Applause] good evening everyone if you are competing in Allstar Showmanship you can go ahead and bring your animal into the ring we're going to do the meat goat here in this middle Center pen the lamb will be on the far pen or area and then the large area across the bcycle racks we're going to split for the beef pepper and the dairy steer so Dairy steer on by left side and the beef pepper can be to the right right have to go up right back follow her but you come you come towards this way you're right walk around and come in okay while we get settled I just want to go over a few things so exhibitors first of all congratulations on winning your species welcome to Allstar Showmanship this evening so we will be doing 3 minute rounds so you guys can just relax until I call time in so you will do 3 minutes at each species you'll be starting with the species that you won so you'll be showing your own animal first and then we're going to be rotating clockwise so the pig will go to the goat goat to lamb lamb to beef beef to Dairy okay I will call time in each time and then I will tell you also when time is up and it's time to switch so if you guys would like to kind of wait until the next person gets to you to let them go that's fine um or if the judge wants to hold them to that's fine too we've done it either way does anybody have any [Applause] questions okay I am going to go ahead and call time in for your first station so you have 3 minutes and then I will tell you when to stop and rotate good evening everyone and Welcome to our annual Maryland state fair for each and FFA Allstar Showmanship contest my name is Ashley Travis and I will be your host this evening if you will uh it has certainly been an exciting start to the Maryland State Fair which is a wonderful time for us to honor Maryland's number one industry which is agriculture this is also a time to celebrate the youth that are involved in both the for and FFA Youth Development programs it has certainly been a full weekend of competitions with hundreds of exhibits from forh and FFA members this weekend the farm and garden building is draped with ribbons and many of the animals that have been shown through the Rings in the last several days tonight's Allstar Showmanship contest is a special tribute to the 4 and FFA members who have risen to the top in their respective species Showmanship competition the five grand champion showman will now buy for our Allstar top prize in this unique competition in the ring this evening are our five contenders exhibiting our sheep is Liam partner our swine exhibitor is Jacob Fullerton meet goat is Riley Francis beef is cidy Sil and our Dairy steer exhibitor is Lloyd arall the five youth competing tonight are being evaluated by our five judges we certainly thank them for sharing their time and expertise with our young people this evening our judges are are Mr Kyle Schultz Mr Brad Johnson Miss Britney Fletcher Mr Bruce Bennett and Miss Amy Steven let's give them a round of applause for their time this [Applause] evening each of our competitors are being evaluated in four categories 50% of their score this evening is the handling of the animal 25% is their knowledge of the species 15% is their Showmanship characteristics and 10% is their cooperation with the [Music] judge exhibitor that's time so if you want to go ahead and rotate to your next species and just wait until I call time in once everybody is settled [Music] [Music] never all right and that is time in said worried I told you'll be fine with that while our youth compete this evening we're going to introduce each one of them so our sheep exhibitor is Liam partner he is from Howard County Liam has been a member of the Howard Centaur for each club for 7even years and will be starting this fall in the Howard County FFA chapter in addition to his sheet project Liam also shows meat goats breeding swine and Market swine Liam has been honored in Howard County as the overall swine showman in 2022 the grand overall sheet showman this year and placed in the top five for the senior division last year here here at the Maryland state fair for livestock judging in high school Liam has been involved in marching band lacrosse and football when asked what he has learned from his sheet project over the years Liam said dedication is the only thing that helps you achieve your goals you may work hard but it's consistency and dedication that seal the deal Liam plans to continue showing sheep and for each and helping other forers work on their Showmanship he aspires to eventually play sheep for families involved in the project Liam attends glenell High School whose goals for the future include pursuing a degree in animal nutrition and judging livestock col he hopes to have a career working for a show be company and judging livestock shows our sne exhibitor this evening is Jacob Fullerton he is from Garrett County Jacob is a seven-year member of the for each Club some of Jacob's special achievements have included winning the grand champion markets lne here at the Maryland State Fair last year in addition to for each Jacob is also involved in playing soccer wrestling baseball cross country and gas fishing when as has learned from this slne project over the years Jacob said a strong work ethic responsibility in the barn and respect Jacob plans to continue his swine project by working to compete at the Maryland state fair and continuing jackon in Cas Jacob attends Northern Garrett High School and plans to attend college for Wildlife and Fisheries he then hopes to attend the police academy for the Department of Natural Resources [Applause] [Music] exhibitors that is time you can go ahead and move to your next species [Music] [Applause] whatever you and whatever you're doing be good [Applause] [Music] [Music] exhibitors we will start your 3 minutes our champion meat Goatman this evening is Riley Francis from Queen ANS County she has been a member of the Clover seeds for each Club inance County for8 years in addition to her meat goat project she also carries the swine and dairy goat projects some of her special achievements have included winning the state junior extemporaneous for each public speaking contest senior Champion hands award for her record book Grand Champion Dairy goat and meat goat showman at her County Fair and Reserve overall slime showman at her County Fair she says that for this being her first year in the meat goat project she had learned many new things but one of the most important things she has taken away from the project is the importance of perseverance and not giving up her future goals for her meat goat project include continuing to better herself in Showmanship and to grow in the meat go project all around outside of Cory she is involved in volleyball across FFA and is an honorable student she attends Queen ANS County High School and hopes to graduate with Street Ace and then attend college and possibly pursue a career in livestock embryology [Applause] lean against [Applause] but [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] exhibitors that is time you can move to your next species we'll call time in our champion Dary sear Showman is Lloyd Aral and he is from Caroll County Lloyd has been a member of the Sam's Creek for each Club in Caroll County for 4 years in addition to his Dairy steer project Lloyd also shows swine beef steers and Market LS this year his other accomplishments have included winning the hands Award with his for each Club at the Carol County Fair he was also awarded the grand champion feeders steer when asked what he has learned learned from his Dairy steer project over the years Lloyd said that it takes a lot of hard work and dedication in addition forage Lloyd is also involved in hunting and fishing his goals for his Dairy sear project in the future include continuing to grow his steer out in order to show him next year Lloyd attends East Middle School in the future his dream includes becoming a professional Auctioneer and traveling the world showing vies Stu [Music] what [Applause] [Music] [Applause] I don't know [Applause] [Music] [Applause] exhibitors that's time you should be moving to your last species [Music] [Applause] [Music] I look [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] we'll go ahead and call time in our champion beef showman this evening is Cassidy sill she is from Frederick County Cassidy has been a member of The Paddock Pals for each club for 3 years and her local FFA chapter for 4 years she shows both beef heers and beef Market steers this year her other accomplishments have included earning her FFA chapter degree and placing well in several FFA Career Development events she has competed in when asked what she has learned from her beef project over the years Cassidy said having a good work ethic can take you very far in life especially in livestock some of her future goals for her beef project include continuing to breed and produce high quality showcase this [Music] [Music] fall this fall Cassidy will be attending Frederick Community College majoring in business and her career goals include owning her own farming business along with starting a show cattle business in order to produce quality show CS congratulations [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] while our judges work to finish up our selecting our champion this evening we would like to give a round of applause to um our youth this evening that are competing and also our judges [Music] up [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] exhibitors that is time what we're going to ask is that if you can return back to your own animal you can go ahead and take them back to their pen while we calculate our scores and then if you guys would like to come back after you take them to their pen we should be ready to announce the winner [Applause] [Music] we [Music] [Applause] Louis he didn't want to cooperate other than that she he only walk the Sheep around the I I don't know I don't know if they're down here if they win champion in their showmans do they do what do they
