Apple Upgrade Program Vs Apple Trade In Program! (Which Should You Use?)

so you might be trying to figure out what the differences are between the iPhone upgrade program and the iPhone trade in program now these two things are a little bit different than one another but they both kind of give you the same type of thing they will give you almost like a discount in a way whether you trade in your iPhone or if you upgrade your iPhone now to give you some perspective the tradein program is pretty easy to understand essentially if you're buying a new iPhone let's say you're buying a new you know iPhone 15 well if you have an iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 you can go ahead and trade in your old iPhone into apple and basically get a little bit of a discount in order to buy that device now these Prices range all the time and sometimes they'll change even sometimes they'll go up sometimes they'll go down it's kind of random but most of the time it's significantly cheaper and less money when you you know trade in your iPhone versus if you were to sell it in the you know used Market just keep that in mind but we're not really talking about that in this case if you were to trade in your iPhone let's say an iPhone 12 or 13 you are going to be getting a discount on your iPhone 15 now the iPhone upgrade program is very different than this essentially what the iPhone upgrade program is is that you will basically pay a monthly fee for your iPhone and then essentially you will get the newest iPhone when that comes out so the way this looks like is you know let's say I just you know I bought the iPhone upgrade program so in this case if I bought the Baseline iPhone which is the iPhone 15 I'll be paying $ 39.50 a month so $39.50 a month then after that initial moment I will basically be paying that inevitably year over year over year month after month and then next year when the iPhone 16 comes out all I will have to do is trade in that particular iPhone and then Apple will give me the iPhone 16 and then all I will have to do then is continue paying that $39.50 a month so basically you're always basically paying $40 a month year over year over year until you're done with this program but you're always getting the newest iPhone which is very nice so if you're somebody who likes upgrading your iPhone or if you're somebody who actually just keeps your older iPhone every single time when you upgrade your iPhone you could actually probably be saving some money if you were to go ahead and just buy an iPhone this way now $40 a month is actually a lot of money and I will probably tell you a majority of people probably don't need to upgrade your iPhone every year if you're buying the iPhone 15 this iPhone's going to last you for so long that there really isn't a big point of using and getting the Apple upgrade program you might as well just go ahead buy this iPhone when it first comes out use it for like 2 or 3 years and then sell it for like $300 to $400 when you're done with it that would probably make a lot more sense to me if I'm being completely honest but within the iPhone upgrade program you are getting a few perks that you're not really getting let's say if you're trading in an older iPhone so this thing one you're getting a brand new iPhone every year even though you're paying the $40 a month you are getting a brand new iPhone every year which is a very nice thing but the biggest thing is and this is probably wor this probably makes some more sense for some people is that you are getting Apple Care Plus with this so this is a very big deal because if you're going through and let's say you kind of break this iPhone in some ways or whatever the case is having Apple Care Plus is a very nice thing to have and that actually works very well so essentially that's included with your particular iPhone and if you want you can get the theft and loss protection for an additional cost so it's not going to be as an expensive cost you know to be the cost for the theft and loss it's still going to be more money but it's still going to be a very nice thing that you're going to have the capability of having now like I said this is very very different than with something like the trade-in program because with the trading program you're trading in the older iPhone that you have and it may be more than a year old by the time you trade in your particular iPhone on the upgrade program it's probably a year old maybe less with the iPhone you know in the other case with the other you know situation trade in you're not really you know getting the latest iPhone every year you could be getting the latest iPhone every year if you trade in your iPhone every year but at that point you might just go and just go for the upgrade program that might make more sense now this doesn't make too much sense for me for the basic iPhone I still think it would be probably cheaper for the most part if you were to just go through and just buy the iPhone you know like let's say the iPhone 15 you know in the brand new market and just keep it for 2 years years 3 years and then trade it in after I don't see why you would need the latest iPhone every single year unless there's a reason for it the average person out there is probably going to be perfectly fine if you were to go ahead and buy something like the iPhone 15 and use it for a couple years Apple hasn't really been changing their iPhones too much and even like within iPhone 13 to the iPhone 15 like that's like a 2-year difference not I mean there's been some things that have changed but it's not really been that big of a difference even with the iPhone 15 Pro $50 a month for that I mean that's $600 a year and then after 2 years that's $1,200 after 3 years that's 1,00 like you spent more money on that iPhone if you were to just it would have been cheaper just to buy that iPhone and use it for 3 years I know you're getting the newest iPhone every year but like I said I don't really think the average person needs to get the latest iPhone every single year so personally for me that's kind of how I look at it I don't really think you should be you know upgrading your iPhone every year to be honest for the average person but between the two I would rather just buy my iPhone use for a couple years and then trade it in after but the upgrade program is nice because you do get Apple Care Plus included so that pretty much covers it up there if
