zero one let's get started hello and welcome to Beyond top 10 tennis my name is Dr Ashley Morgan Burge and I am your host um we have been doing special editions essentially for the last um Eight Episodes courtesy of Roland gab GIS but welcome to uh episode 97 oh my goodness how far we've come if you are new as always thank you so much for joining us I want to encourage you to track back to our earlier episodes prior to those special editions which started at say episode 88 onwards um and if you've been with us for some time now thank you so much you know what we're all about and where we're coming from but a little bit I think of a snippet for those of you who are new um essentially those last almost 10 episodes or eight episodes really focus on uh the data the insides of the French Open and prior to that um we were purely Audio Only so this is really new how we've started sharing um live video and audio feeds and this is our first episode back um since those special editions and we've only got a couple now uh prior to the commencement of Wimbledon where we will do those special editions as well um so this really gives um us the time the space to really catch up on the there's been so many events ironically since rolling garas we won't touch on the ones that um were happening essentially at the same time as the French Open um purely because we really want to look at key data implications of the rankings of not just the top 10 but those who are say potentially progressing towards the top 10 um and also I think those with the better chances of progressing at Wimbledon um but as always those who of you who are not familiar with my work um I've um authored 12 books um I've been working on I guess these key data implications for the last plus 20 years um former International coach I worked with Elite athletes in the states Europe through to Australia my latest release came out the end of last year uh how to develop a top 10 tennis ranking um the power of the eighth key so you'll see that there and also the other one in the background which is right here and I've shared this essentially um almost every episode that if you are a top 10 player you really need to get your hands on these if you want to know the differential essentially to claiming that um Grand Slam but also achieving replicated success we'll dive more into that today as we do um almost every episode though I do have some surprises here today which is really fun given that we are doing I think these video fees and that's some of um my uh former books or other books earlier books um we've got three actually here and they're um pretty big as you can see but this is the what is your game Missing series these are actually um original covers so if you do order them you will get the updated versions these are there's only a select number of these um through this is the first time what is your game missing and you can see if I take a peek in here a lot of I think um the the data that's written um which is really I think fundamental and pivotal I was looking for uh some chart work there which you will see now here some some nice chart work look we've got a number of players here at the French Open believe it or not cuz a lot of these texts are focused on say the French to Wimbledon um the transition that's made and we also have the data from say the Australian Open US Open Etc and key implications there so some really good ones even from see this page is even gas when he was at his Peak um we've got Kerber there at her Peak um really interesting with all the players there so if you've if um there's a player that's been ranked inside the top 10 over the past I'll say um 12 years we have the data the key implications around that and we have over 150,000 inferences that I've personally developed designed to colate this so when you're looking as I'm stretching over when you're looking at um essentially the data say the sap data that players essentially pull on now this is very different this is um and again I've touched on this so those of you who have been listening um to us for some time now thank you so much you understand where I'm coming from and I guess the incredible scope of work in depth of work essentially um but essentially um players who have reached say around a 16 and onwards also for probably the best part of the last I will say 6 to 8 years as well to complement that and you would have noticed listening to well the Australian Open earlier this year cuz that's where our special editions are commenced but then also uh the past fortnite essentially on the French Open why I really highlighted the importance of making that round a 16 cuz it it really um is um a fundamental stepping um Stone I keep hitting the my de desk because I'm a little bit excited so excuse the wobbles there these are a couple of the other ones Again original um covers or one of those original covers so you would get different ones I'm a big fan of the colors though we have updated that since you've heard me touch on the secrets to Optimal Performance success which really is compiled of those first um initial 50 episodes which are really pivotal for setting um essentially the Baseline of the work and that has really allowed us to now start digging deeper into say key performances and results we started around say episode 55 through to I think it was 70 um the secret optimal coaching success these two we haven't had our hands on there there's the elite research method the secret optimal well-being which is really important but we we took that change of pace essentially to focus on the Australian Open and we've hit the ground running ever since so rather than digging deeper um into the daa and sharing those insights we've essentially been having a bit of an overlap where I I'm really saying to you please listen to those early episodes to form that Baseline that we refer to so often and now look at this real time almost um results these implications why they're happening and also the players that we're really going to I think highlight for for the um Wimbledon and upcoming um slams whether it's the US and the Olympics as well this year um the other two that we've got is the Secret store elap performers it is massive again this is an original Edition as well um it is absolutely substantial I'm not sure if I'll ever write a book this significant again and also this is um this one's a big one I'm your tennis coach and Guru which is a bit of fun uh but it's the your pathway it essentially pulls everything together with even able to put your notes in there but also key lessons that you really are required to do so that's in your first initial 10 years of play now I'm just going to put this one down because they did want to start today's episode with me um you you've met the other one this is this is my small one okay with everything touched on and with that I I'll say brief introduction I do like sharing each and every episode um a little bit of that backstory where it's come from and I think each time it's different but to recap these two are absolutely pivotal fundamental um I've shared those other text so that's 12 all together 11 um actually specifically um that are um essentially pinpointed and leveraged to Asain that top 10 tennis ranking um remember that I do have that one fictional release there as well but really important so these are shared I might touch on them a little bit later we'll see how we go for time but there's a lot today as I shared to get through because we do have a number of events more um surprisingly on the WTA side in contrast to the ATP um side that said we have had I'll say Pockets throughout this season so far where the ATP has had um a lot of events um one week and the W not so much so I guess it evens out in some way shape or form um I'm going to um typically we do start on remember those who of you who have been with us for some time now the rankings before diving into the results but today I really wanted to have a look at the results so the events that are underway and then to finish today with the rankings and those key movers because at last episode we only touched on say the top 10 how far they had moved since essentially uh Rolland garos but we didn't really do a deep dive and I want to see how we go for time um and also that will probably gauge on how deep we go whether we just look at say the top 20 top 30 or we do a more um expansive review of the top 100 or or more so but let let's see how we go today um but look to kick things off we're going to start on the WTA tour and then um wrap a number of of events up before um heading on over to the ATP so let's start over here we've got a couple of smaller events um I'll say dispersed um between the bigger ones but we'll go with um the open Dell at pugil so that's in Barry in Italy um it's a small it's a 125 and I just want to look at the the semi-finals and the finals here zidansek fell to um odari in three sets that's noteworthy po Rosco the number one seed fell toony also noteworthy so the finals we had toony um overcoming udari for and O so it's noteworthy in respect to let's keep an eye now on tooni because I believe this is her first title let alone for the season and we've had players for example schnader um one of the favorites this season that got that title had a huge rankings progression and I think she latched on to that second title this season but if she we weren't tracking these results we would not have known or been more conscious and it's really important because even though these players are predominantly say ranked outside the top 50 they need to get their marks somehow uh and sometimes um ranked outside the top 100 but there are some key markers that are always interesting um to keep a note on um let's say intermittently all right let's head on over to um the m Kara open and that's over in Croatia another smaller event semifinals we had um Sheriff second seat overcoming martic fifth seed in three sets other semifinals we had vnet over Wang four and three so when we look at the finals we actually had volet the eight seat over Sheriff the second seat in three sets volet um she isn't new and we know we've heard that name a number of times before she has taken a bit of a slide believe in the rankings but also believe this is her first title um this season which again is noteworthy to keep an eye on when we're looking at the rankings and the respective movers all right um trying to go a little bit quick over the smaller ones but we're on to a bigger one now Netherlands the Libera open now this one wrapped up um two days ago so depending when you do tune in we're going to have a big deep dive into this so we'll do a full review here paga was the number one seed and I was personally um very interested to see how paga was going to track especially because she's on Fresh legs she did not play uh the French Open she was sidelined but we do know the results so let's pretend we don't temporarily whilst we head through this so pagul over sovich 2 and two nice and clean to begin with um kwck over ponche three sets now I believe ponche did make some inroads at the French I could be incorrect there but let's just keep that in the back of our minds um Russ felt to galy now remember Russ has had a pretty good season has been making some really good inroads so that's a little bit surprising there C mova over Bay 5 and one that would be expected Osaka a very good win over Merchants 2 and four um lamens over Pera Andreu now we know the result but andru three set over Vera um 4663 62 so that was not easy schneer fell to to yuan in three sets 164 663 and I've just touched on her this season Lynette fell to Montgomery three sets torsson fell to n three sets a beas over blinkova rod and overa fell to alexand Roa vage over Kash that's one and three very clean win there Min over mova 2 and four um naif over um three sets and Samson over over Van van I apologize for that mispronunciation you probably would have heard me a number of times on audio only predominantly with those mispronunciations they do happen actually quite frequently and I really do apologize for that but I really do try all right round of 16 here we go pagola she fell to Chronic look 76676 for incredibly tight match by all accounts yes was expecting a bit more from paga but krunic obviously played exceptionally because it did go to two tie breaks there um which is really says a lot I think pula's level was up there um I would was really hoping for let's say a more uh just a straight STS win predominantly so it's we're going to have to gauge pula's performance off um her next event that she does play in because I really want to see if she lives up to that top five ranking um because she hasn't really budged there but I'm looking for those deeper runs at the Grand Slam level that we're really yet to see and again I'm being really harsh so again if you are new um there are really I think incredibly High benchmarks when we're looking at the top 10 and differentiating the best in the world from the other best in the world and what really differentiates that top 8% and the 2% so recall also if you've had your hands on this one again um how to develop a top 10 tennis ranking and I really touched on I think earlier this season that there are two significant rulers in the in that text and that's 8% of players in the world know the Eight Keys that's it 2% of players inside the top 10 are susceptible every season to regress and we've already seen that on both tours this season which is a little bit of an anomaly however I've also touched on so far this season that 50% of players on um both tours inside the top 10 are not living up to their top 10 standards so their capacity with their results which we don't typically see which is really important to highlight um all right let's keep going um galy um over kurova really good WI C matova the fifth seed there that was three sets aaka really cool over Lam's 2 and two Andre sco over Ian 4 and four now let's remember Onre scho I think the French Open was her first tournament back and waiter pick the event to come back on um she spent sideline I think for the best part of the last two to three years she's been I think played some then went back and it's been a really hard Road essentially since she won that Maiden slam but also it's really important and noteworthy and I've touched on this previously when you get those rapid fire results how vulnerable you are the susceptibility to having a steep regression there and be and succumbing essentially to um injury which has happened to Andreu it's also happened to Raku who's steadily finding her way back but that ranking hold inside the top 10 did not last that long same happened to Andreu when she did essentially Skyrocket inside the top 10 her other results were not living up to those expectations before she regressed really important to note and why um I do caution players from having those rapid fire results you want to steady them and G's one of my favorite examples that sure she had really good results but then she it waited she did not Peak too soon before she progressed further at the Grand Slam level really important again we've touched on that in previous episodes but it's always noteworthy to share um Montgomery Over N at a straight set um alexand drove over beas straight sets veage felt to meaning um 61 love 675 that is um we do see those matches from time to dime a bit unusual for veage to get that second set six love Min the first set six1 but 75 so it really CES down to that third set I think when both of them were on their game um vage was the seventh seed samsonova over Nath in straight sets all right quarterfinal stage really interesting here because um let's remember krunic was the player who took out paga and galy beat kunic in straight sets 5 and three a s then over andru now remember how exceptional was Saka played against swch andru got the win three sets 64 36 76 now it was 73 in that tiebreaker but this is the performance that I think really impresses me primarily because Asaka she's been tracking she's been progressing but for andru to get this type of results I think she's coming back better than previously and it could potentially be only a matter of time especially with Wimbledon around the corner to see how she's tracking and I won't be surprised if Andreu keeps this level of play up if she makes a surprise round of 16 performers she will not be that fun I think to um go up against in the first round however it's going to depend on her level of consistency that level of Maintenance that we do touch on that basic line Pig performances those performance plateaus so there's a lot to go with this this is only a very I think small indicator to begin with but a very important one nonetheless Montgomery felt to alexandrova straight sets and Sam sonova got the win over Min in straight sets all right semifinals we had galy andru andru with the Win 4 and two and then we had um samsonova over alexandrova in three sets um that was 37 and 1 so 63 6761 over Alexander that was the second and third seed so the seeds lived up to their expectations on that half not so much on the top half that said we know the result of the final Samson over got the win over Andreu 46 6375 incredibly tight Andreu was this close to winning I think her first title um I want to say since potentially since her grand slam title um she may have won one shortly thereafter I'm not too sure but that is such an incredible performance that it really puts Andreu on the radar and I'm looking forward to the events she's going to play um well essentially in the weeks ahead okay next event we have is um roesy open so that one's in Nottingham and it did wrap up as well it's a big one here because we've got Jabor here as the fth seed um and it it has finalized so I really want to dive into these results um we do have some very interesting ones um and some really exciting matches that did unfold um over the course of the week as well all right Jabor assio 2 and three um foot over over myazaki four and five Watson great to see her back over day three sets that was 466 love 64 uh plisa with a win over Parks 4 and four um savil over Burl 3 and three um Parry over Busa 2 and two barl she's an Aussie actually from the Gold Coast um which is really great um once upon a time when I was essentially coming um uh getting my coaching qualifications I will say that very beginning when I was in my late team that's another story for more on that head on over to a international click on Dr B and you'll have a look at my background there however her father a really good guy that um was able to I think take me under his wing temporarily there so um kimber's done a lot of work with her dad and she has progressed so it's really great to see um homegrown talent in that respect however um she hasn't quite been able to I think crack the top 100 yet she's been hovering out there regressed quite substantially last year I think around like the 160 to 180s but this performance um really um this week has allowed kimbery to progress back I think inside the top 130ish which is really great to see all right so she got that win over applon um 3 and five um stefanini over Zoo three sets U fretch over hibino a straight set um orago fell to Maria in 3 46 7676 that was tie those tie break scores would have been um 97 and 86 that's really impressive that's a tough one gck fter Marino straight sets a dart felt a Bolter uh three sets 67 6475 we know the result here so Katie really was pushed in the first round okay Jones over doll high straight sets Krueger over Wang three and three Raku over Shir bahara four one and four and then Co stroke second seed fell to sniger 63 63 that was a surprise there all right round of 16 results we've got to begin with Jabor over frova 2 and one good for Jabor um Watson fell to plova 4 and four savil another Aussie fell to par 4 and one and savil she was ranked inside the top uh 30 just I think a number of years ago now or around that Mark and nonetheless and she has been rudal unfortunately with injuries over the last couple of years that regressed her all the way back outside the top 100 and I believe now she's made her way back into the top 100 um but um this win uh lost sorry from Parry um savil is doing an exceptional job finding her way back and I really do hope that she's able to get more wings under her belt um because of that par obviously was too good now this was a really good one for Burl over Stefani three sets I think this is her best result at the WTA tour level um she has had um throughout her career um 64 676 love it's an exceptional result in the round of 16 which essentially means she's made the quarterfinals of um a WC Tour event that is a very big event nonetheless so it's a really impressive performance um for her okay always great supporting some homegrown Talent um fun fact there is Sam sto is also from the Gold Coast that's where I'm based um and Ashes uh well Brisbane will say it switched their and that's once upon a time where I coached at both of those respective centers um and her home center at brookwater I was the director there um um very early on in my career cuz again with that backstory I essentially skyrocketed very quickly um due to my background expertise in the area and had a lot of success there and why it really pushed me to look more into the data to help more players and how I could and that's how uh the PHD unveiled working with I think um International uh athletes across the globe to allow them to essentially um reach the top 10 looking at Grand Slam success because I realize there was so much more I could do um rather than just in my own backyard how could I better help more of you which is which essentially brings me here to to help you Excel whether you are that player that par that coach or essentially a fan wanting to know what the new data says what the latest science says and when we're looking at tennis players and key implications to develop the best in the world cuz that's really where my work is plac and I believe um to the best of my knowledge that I'm the only actually um person individual uh worldwide in this space I am um and I previously touched on this the world's leading um Authority um in this space the world's leading uh scientist and coach on coaching Athlete Performance um in the tennis space so everyone I think has complimentary Works in there but when you're looking at a top 10 tennis ranking how to achieve that that pathway and to achieve Grand Slam success uh that's when you give me a call but first those books so we can have a healthy conversation okay back to the data um French over Maria three sets Bolter very good win over Marino 4 and three at Jones over Krueger three sets and ranu over sniger 2 and two so really good to see ranu gaining some momentum again all right quarterfinals this is where we know it gets interesting Jabor falling to plisa but this was rough look 76 6775 that first set tie break to plisa that was 108 um then six um sorry the second set was 76 Jabor got that that would have been um 73 the third set 75 that was incredibly close which means typically Jabor has not been living up to her top 10 tennis ranking she had actually a very good performance at Roland garos I'm going to rate this still as a good performance cuz that was three tight sets pisca she's a grand slam finalist she hasn't really been um she's had a regression in her level of play her performance over the best part of the last two seasons but she still can deliver from time against the best in the world so this was a really great result for her all right other side of the quarterfinals Parry got the win over Burl that was three and six uh Bolter over fretch really good win there two and four and then ranu over Jones she got a walkover I really would have loved to see that play out okay semi-final stage again I know we know the results but we want to dive into this how good was this Bolter over plisa three sets that was huge 46 6362 um sorry I'm getting ahead of myself I'm looking at the final so let let's just rewind a little bit pleas overpow three sets semifinal one six s 6164 um that tie break though was 119 that is huge and then Parry I didn't wasn't able to keep up that momentum and plisa ran away with that but that's a huge first set for Parry there all right the other semifinal I was wondering where this went Bolter ranu we know that Bolter essentially had to play back toback there was a rain delay in this one could have gone either way Raku this first set was absolutely incredible um ranu got in a tie break [Music] 1513 phenomenal Bolter used that ranking just essentially that level of play she's been upholding all season um 63 64 solid however ranu um that's in Rose getting that type of result against Katie who's top 30 has already got a significant title under her belt this season has been been living up to her ranking a really good result which means both um ranu and andru have been tracking and we know p over here as well the final and I've just I I let that loose a short time ago Bolter with that win over P three sets 46 63 um 62 three sets which is really strong I think for plus goova but well done to Katie there all right now over to the BBVA so that's in Valencia Spain a smaller event we just touch on the semi-finals and finals we had Lee over bues maniero the second seed three sets toova the first seed got through over um shanovich in three sets the final we did have Lee over Tom over the first seed three and four so noteworthy for Lee there all right quickly then over to um rothy now these um events that I'm going to touch on have only just started this week um essentially So Yesterday we've only got a couple of matches but there are still some interesting ones to note that have already unfolded noteworthy for essentially roesy so in Birmingham um we do have Austin Peno um the first seed and she's already fallen first round to a cocko a 3 and three that's a huge scal cocko though if you have been tuning into to be on top 10 tennis we know she has been tracking this season so it's very noteworthy Stevens first round went over one three and three and I think there the main results we've got um two more I think there we go of Fernandez Goodwin over Sor be tommo one in one gbri gulbi sorry over aoro three sets Tom Lovich a really good win over blinkov there two and one um Zoo um over s day a very good win 7662 uh poov over avanessian 4 and four now avanessian um I believe she had some results um early on at the French so that's a good win for po there although she is the seventh seed bronzetti over fretch and that was in three sets really interesting other players we've got crova is the second seed here and I think she's primarily the player to watch we've got wasaki over meron's first round pisk is playing here as well and so is Bolter um they're probably the primary players to watch out for so we will sum that up next week okay now we're over to um Berlin um Germany so the ecotrons um open um we've only got I think a couple maybe that have um started or have been underway but G is the number one seed here we've got Hadad May who is not seated nosova Kerber jabur Gula is playing so that's going to be interesting how she tracks here Sakari as a ranker have each other in the first round Asaka has got Zen in the first round um son over Russ we we have that done so sers came out in three sets over Russ um riina is playing this one here we go VR SOA a first round win over masarova 4 and three Callen ska three sets over hi no 266 462 and kazak Keen a very good win over cost stru in three sets there 4 67664 and sabalenka is playing this one as well this is actually a very big event now believe it or not I believe this is one of um it is a 500 which means it is one of the big events um essentially leading up to Wimbledon so that's we have I think a lot of the top players playing it noteworthy who is missing um essentially is swch now we know s Tech's missing for a good reason and we're not seeing paleen here as well obviously both of them have a lot of rest um under their well they're essentially still recuperating from the past fortnite all right we've got one more event on the WTA to look at and that is the vento open so over in Italy a smaller one in comparison and we've just got I think a a couple of matches that have been um underway we've got and again this one only started a few days ago we've got Maria for example the first seed so it is a smaller event here U and we've got um Erica Andrea three set win over Rosell sell cob over um fter Raina straight sets there but it is again and a smaller event not essentially well when we're looking and contrasting to um the earlier event this is um obviously very different when we're looking obviously ger um Berlin my apologies on in contrast to um gab Carl is the second seed there lepchenko um she's had an early round loss um Iran is going to be in action but that essentially wraps it up so Parks is also in action so we'll look at that event potentially next week we'll really focus on probably just the semifinals there and the finals um obviously given the scale because yes it is only a 125 there but it's always important to see obviously the semi-finals finals who's tracking potentially who's looking at whether there's a first title or tracking obviously with the rankings as well however I think the biggest um event and this week for the W sh tour is the echo trans ladies open so Berlin Germany that is underway that is a lot okay let's have quickly have a look over at the rankings we won't go too deep um these are the rankings not of last week fresh out of the blocks this week um and there are no moves essentially in the top 10 and we've touched on the top 10 last week Pini cracked into there pagul is still at five we know swed takes leaving the charge GF is at number H at a new cre high at two sabalan is only 200 points behind golf now though so still very close riina nonetheless is roughly about 1,500 points from sabalenka so there is I think a bit of a gap there um only 100 points are separating vova and paga between obviously five and six that's getting pretty close there Pini vandra SOA about 500 or or 400 plus points separating the two um however Zen and Pen are very close that's less than 100 points separating the two so it probably will depend our Zing tracks this week as well that they there might be a bit of an interchange there and there's only about 25 points separating Sakari at nine from zing and Jabor is a bit behind that's around 250 points from Sakari H and we we're looking at Collins who's just been bumped out out of the top 10 that's about a bit over 200 points separating say 10 from 11 there and then obviously it tracks Keys is at a high at 12 AA Peno is now at 13 remember uh prior to the French she was I think n seated 910 n I'll say cuz kazakina was seated 10 she's now at 14 um cost's at one at 16 Navar is at one new career high at 17 her dad May has regress but now she's had a progression to 18 as a rank is at 19 and to top off the top 20 is alexand Rover now if we look at just inside I'll say the top 30 um predominantly I'll say everyone is the same um Spen is 21 Garcia is 22 big High um from the French over Mira Andrea is 23 really cool to see crov is at 25 that's a bit of a progression despite her result at the French um yes Str as well as at 27 again despite those results so there are some players I think now inside the top 30 that's not correlating but we've had a lot of that discussion around say other players higher rankings typically this ranking range has correlated but I'm raising my eyebrows here going there are a number of players here that probably should be pushed out or are more susceptible to being pushed out Bolter ironically has regressed a point she's at 31 she's just just claimed a title Bola is deservingly um inside the top 20 that's where her ranking should be Leila's had an okay week she should be at um she's 33 I'm going to say she deserves to be at let's say late 20s there um poova she's at 36 fish is at 39 now if we're looking at some other players here I'm just going to pinpoint normally we um go ascending but I know I'm going to sending here but Pisa she's up points 42 that is very noteworthy cocky retive had a very good win this week however she's regressed one point to 44 H kenan's back one at 46 Steven's back one at 48 Schneider's back one at 49 just picking up some few a few key players here Parry a very good week she's up 11 points to 53 um other noteworthy players so I'm still looking at I guess at a number that are going to catch my look Sterns we know had that pink performance prior to the French she's back 1 at 62 tomova is up 6 to 63 um other I think noteworthy ones here we got sans's up 4 to 71 same with igima up 4 to 72 Fett's up 4 to 73 Sheriff however has taken a drop so that's a 16o regression um so she is at 79 now um I'm looking at just capping off the top 100 almost here these are probably the most noteworthy we've got Massa rovera she's up three points so she has cracked into the top 100 24 year from Spain now a couple of noteworthy players here now I'm sure you are all familiar with these names I am about to share cuz I want to get these three right but do is up three to 115 her performance definitely is deserving I think of crapping cracking into the top 100 my apologies there wasak is Up 3 to 114 Saka is up 12 to 113 with one more good week Asaka is on the cusp of cracking the top 100 and BEDA as well those two plays BEDA oaka are very well I think poised to crack into the top 100 both of them are playing at the level of play inside the top 30 we're just looking for that consistency so when we're looking at the top 30 or between say the range 30 to 20 uh Bosa and assaka their results this season are definitely worthy there um not so much wasaki I haven't seen that traction and that we're looking for okay that's a lot that wraps up the wt2 let's head on over to the ATP side a lot smaller we've got a couple of events um in contrast to we've got 2 four six eight events in total that we've touched on for the WC tour we've got five to touch on for uh the ATP Tour first before we then go back and look at at the rankings so um let's dive in um four sorry um two as I get there the boss open sto Gart Germany just wrapped up so we're going to Deep dive into all these cuz they all say 250 plus events so we've got some very big ones underway this week queens and haray which are very I'll say historical for the ATP Tour that we know that they're very popular leadup events for Wimbledon okay uh gasc by first round nak over Eubanks bit surprising there because looking to see if Eubanks get some traction that we haven't seen this season in contrast to last season 76 64 R neck over mitchellson four and five stuff over caboi 6 and three t for by hman Goodwin over Squire 3 and three gon over Mari 3 and four I don't know about each and every one of you out there but I'd love to see Mari make a deep run at Wimbledon ESP especially on grass to get that level of play back up okay Draper over ofer uh 7676 that's 4 and five um mesha perard now remember he won that Maiden title I believe it was prior to the French skyrocketed up the rankings he's fallen first round to mazetti 7676 99 with a scores that's exceptional he should be really proud of himself because he really is a newcomer this season um kofer over Zang three sets but check this score line out 46 7676 5 and six really tight there movich over marzan another three set there bu May first round bartini great to see him back in Action I know we all know the result here but look he almost fell first round to um sand who's the eighth seed 76 5775 we're going to touch more on that shortly sh shapovalov over at Manu 7675 he started tracking shapovalov prior to the French which was really good to see um track back to those early episodes you would have heard me touch on that over let's say the last 10 episodes is and how the inroads he'd been making were really good cuz let's remember shapovalov is a former top 10 player huge regression he's starting to make traction again which is really exciting he's still in his early 20s and this is a really good win for him 7675 um he didn't get that traction at the French but I'm looking to see if he gets some let's say the later part this season on on grass and hard because I think he's starting to find some rhythm again all right Duckworth over Herbert um four and six Shelton with a buy and Shelton obviously was um the second seed here okay gas over Nakashima ah Nakashima got that win three and four a stuff over render neck um 4 and 76 and so this obviously is in the round of 16 TFO the fourth seed here 7576 um over yes half really good to see TFO getting some winds under his belt I love to see him track um later this season because we really haven't seen that form that I guess we've come to love and really enjoy in action the the I think the most part of this season to date uh Draper over Jon in three sets mazetti um over Copa 3 set bubl third seed at 1 and 76 bertini a huge win over shapoval 4 and4 I'd say shapovalov's results have been more favored over bartini however bartini on grass bartini has been a finalist at Wimbledon which I think is um often forgotten um Duckworth over Shelton that's huge win for Duckworth three sets 76 4663 now I'm not too sure who was the F seed here granted that um gas was a lucky loser and got that by so there's obviously Bea withdrawal there and I'm not too sure who that was nonetheless okay Nakashima over stuff um we had um and that was um a walkover unfortunately we've got Draper over tiero huge win for Dra three sets over tiero 5 76476 mazetti over bu that's a huge win Buck has been tracking this season making some really good inroads um mati we know he had a really good run at the French but look 4661 and then that was one love bu obviously retiring there bartini over Duckworth huge bartini 6475 it's so great to see bartin back we know his former top 10 he was inside the top 10 for a number of season huge regress regression then um he's just been able to scrape inside the top 100 he's been hovering around that 80 to 90 Mark but with this result we are going to see a very big I think progression in the rankings and this is one of the reasons why I wanted to wait to look at the rankings until after diving into I think these newer results especially for some of these players that we we really haven't seen tracking for some time plisa for example is a really um um good because we were able to understand um those key progressions because of these results which is really impressive all right semi-finals we had Draper over Nakashima 3 and three and bartini huge win over mazetti 4 and0 cuz I believe I think it was mati who took jovic to five sets we know moti has found some form he's top 30 um however bartini to get that win especially that second set six love is really significant uh we know the result of the final Draper huge title even though he was the six seed but bartini he took him to three sets 3 six 76 and that was 5 64 that's huge bartini was so close that's really important I think um no one wants to face bertini first round come Wimbledon cuz I can guarantee you bertini is not going to be deeded um and he's definitely going to be a danger because he's starting to find fall this time last year that that wasn't I think um in the equation but this is going to Mark bartini as somewhat as a dark horse and quite dangerous not sure if drap is going to be seated either a really good win for him but we'll look at the ranking shortly all right next event we have before we move on to Queens and then Harley is um the Lima open a little bit biased here because I know the result huge win for Alex and Alex is now at a career high ranking and I don't know why there's not more um media especially in Australia highlighting that it's absolutely Sensational I believe that's our highest ranked male tennis player in almost 20 years since hu which is really substantial Alex is really I think um he just keeps his head down and gets the work done and he really need needs to be applauded all right round of 32 deor by first round um Bergs over Van Rin um 4 and three um Bautista a over Hustler uh 7662 r h great to see him back good wi over Thompson 3 and four Phils over kazook 4 and four would have expected kazook to make some more inroads so far this season we really got to see some uh a great performance at the Australian Open we had haven't seen much of a let's say a significant or noteworthy progression since then but I definitely believe he is capable despite his current ranking um same with manzik actually manzik fter brow qualify in three sets manorina over naano in three sets that's a tongue twister grein sport over um kovich in three sets wow 67 76 76 it was three in the first seven in the second three in the third that's a huge first round match uh Vander Dan sh felt to McDonald in three sets bookage over pel straight set quarter over um SCH Kate um four and six um Goffin felt a nardy poin with a good win over rinky 4 and four yes rink's last name is he Jakarta I do say his first name purely because I'm positive by mispronouncing his first name uh his last name sorry so if I do know the first name and I know I'm going to mispronounce that last name I will try and say it okay Paul was the um second seed um he did get a buy first round as well all right Dior round of 16 over Bergs that was five and four Batista a good felt to ranich in three sets good win for ranich great to see him back I think this is maybe his first big event back since the Australian Open I think he played quite well there and then he did have to retire and he was quite close to getting that win but again had to retire which is really heartbreaking good to see him back really hope for Milos to get a good win at Wimbledon we know he's performed there really well before again we know Ms is a former top 10 player as well and of of course it's heartbreaking to see players um riddle with injuries and that's why really important a significant part of my work is based on mitigating injuries um so avoiding injuries protecting the body against that and that's where and I I guess it's a good time to share in this one and I don't normally and it is this so the science of Elite Performance and that's why it's so substantial and huge because there's so much data in this to understand and that's why it's really pivotal and so important and complement all those other texts essentially and yes there's 11 of them but look to get uh achieve a top 10 tennis ranking medicate injuries um break into the top 10 to begin with become a grand slam finalist when you're made in Grand Slam when more than one Grandin slay of course that is not one book there is so much data there there's so much work involved there but the good news is if you're top 20 top 10 almost you've done probably I will say 70% of the work maybe 80% of the work and it's at 20% you really need a fine tune to fill those gaps so when you go from book one through to 11 you essentially are finding those missing pieces uh more so obviously if if you've read all of them um that's where I come in to help really um glue them all together for like a better wording okay back back to the results um we've got Hur Goodwin over brow with three sets Greek and Spore Goodwin over vage three sets and then we've got quarter um really good win over Paul four 4 and two potentially I did get ahead of myself there looking at the quarterfinals there that was the bottom half because the top half of the quarterfinals guess what Dior over ranich 7562 that is an exceptional result um and it's really impressive and I think the other half obviously was yeah we we touched on Humber and brow um look Greek and bought really good performance Paul over poin was three sets that was tight but for quarter to get a win over Paul 4 and two that is really impressive okay noteworthy other performances as we track forward obviously grein ball over vage three sets we've just touched on so when we're looking at the semifinals here um we know Alex has gotten through and he got a really good win over Hur the third seed 7663 and then cter seventh seed over the six seed gri and Sport um 2 and four we know the result awesome week for Alex and that was 62 64 over quarter really good um I think performance for quarter top 30 player he's been hovering around the top 30 for the best part of the season so we should see a ranking progression cuz we hadn't really seen that this season so a really good result um for quarter there all right um let's head on over to the earlier rounds of Queens then Harley then we'll track back to the current rankings before we wrap up today today's episode all right so obviously it's just gotten underway the irony here I think is Queens we do have um alaras and Harley we've got cner obviously a number one seeds respectively interesting okay um looking at the draws here and again it's only just got underway yesterday only a couple of matches that we can touch on but look let's have a look at I think those who are playing again we've got alarz here we've got Draper playing uh Paul's playing jimro got a first round win over manarino one and two good to see C is playing here kakenov is playing here um rinky qualified and got a first round win over Tio 7546 one love TFO must have withdrawn that's a huge win for hijikata okay analdi hur's playing run and Thompson faced off in the first round Thompson got a huge win over run 46 7663 now remember all the data and everything I've touched on so far this season that run was going to regress outside the top 10 tick Rune um with that shuffling of the coaches was going to continue to regress tick he does have a coach in place now for I think a number of I think months he has held on his results have not been favorable still he did however track at the French which was good to see really good almost uh in correlation with the top 10 tennis ranking almost um but losing first round here is not going to really help run I think with those ranking progressions but could be too soon again it is a leadup I'm really curious to see how Run's going to perform at Wimbledon and essentially the later half of this year if he's going to track towards the top 10 or away um similar story for Fritz however Fritz is more favored ironically okay muray is going to face poin first ground rayan got a really good win over norri in the first round here um at Queens uh 67 6376 huge third set that was um 119 Fritz is playing Shelton's going to face off against mesh pericard and Shelton would have essentially been in mesh Perard's shoes probably 18 months ago so really interesting match up there Chevy Harris Nakashima and deor is going to face mosetti first round that is tough um essentially also going off what I've just touched on from the past week and M's level of play and his performance that's going to be a really tough one for Alex to face off and he's the second seed there all right that wraps up queens we'll touch on that next week um obviously how it's played out um Harley now we'll have a couple of I think matches to touch on WE I've just touched on sin the first SE however he will play greens ball first round not easy as well also touching on obviously how gens ball has been tracking the past week marazan got um a first round win over sopin um 75 4661 we've got darer in action tisas will face Squire medv had a very tight win over boras that was a 7664 Zan got a first round win over ofner 76 6764 there is something with with the tie breaks this week Eubanks is in action Buck is in action her's got a first round win over caboi 7576 we've got bertinis in action he'll Place mitchellon qualifier first round rublev's in action agore Alys fell early the eight SE to um coofer Wild Card 6443 looks like Felix retired um that's a bit disheartening hopefully Felix is okay for especially because fix has been tracking this season I got that huge significant I think uh win or it was um that finalist result um which really cracked him back inside the top 30 I think almost the top 20 so we shortly check on those rankings um sgro good win over kovic 76766 and five and zarev is the second seed here all right that really wraps up um Harley and we'll track back on those results for next week as that unravels but let's head on over to the rankings before we wrap today's episode up all right we know sis one we know alcaras is too but jovic is only traing alarz by less than 200 points there is roughly just under 1,000 points so 900 points separating C from alar so it's really interesting to see how close those three are um zarev at four he's roughly about 150 points um separating so there's a bit more of a distinction there however there's about only 400 separating meev from zarev quite close very big gap I think between rubb who's at six and meev at five that there is at least well no there's not quite there's about 1,800 points separating the two there um Alex is creeping on in 700 separating or a little bit less rublev and Alex career High two point progression at seven so runs obviously progressed and heres just one point 8 and N respectively dimitrov then is at 10 there is only roughly 35 points separating dimitro from tisas who's at 11 but there is roughly I think around bit over 600 points separating Fritz who's at 12 from then tipas so that's a bit of a more significant Gap Paul is on Fritz's heels followed by Shelton um really tighten it there hulga's back then um at 15 so that's a bit of a prog uh regression my apologies this year bui's at 17 very steady there and we know he's been having a really good season here we go Felix is at a career high uh well not I'll say we know Felix has been top 10 but this is really good 18 I think this is Felix's highest ranking in the best part of the last 24 months and let's remember he's only 23 years of age uh manarino is at 21 he's having a good season kov is back at 22 quarter here we go we're three-point uh progressions at 23 um other I think noteworthy players gin sport he's actually had a a fourpoint regression but still 27 TFO is at 28 TFO was on the cusp of the top 10 he sitting quite comfortably inside the top 15 so that's probably a substantial um regression maet is at 30 drap is up 9 point to 31 D's up seven to 34 anal is back 135 Ma's back 336 all right other ask say big jumpers Jordan um has a Sixpoint regression 43 however he has been tracking more positively nor is um steady at 39 there um all right Eubanks is at 144 Po's at 148 um other looking for some big jumpers here we go Evans is up three to 59 um Nakashima is up 7 to 63 here's this is what we're looking for bertini 30o progression 65 really good especially leading up to Wimbledon Gaston 13o progression 69 here and Nagal Sixpoint progression 71 I believe that is a career high for Nagal who only cracked into the top 100 this season um Theo say both Wilds back 3 um 74 other I think I think noteworthy we've got bookage is up 7 to 80 um Altima's up 7 to 82 um ravor had a 15 Point regression 87 Duckworth's up 13 he's at 88 kazuk is back 15 to 90 wi rinka so his firm there around 93 bartini War Rinko were ranked around similar ranking range but bartin is the one who's been making I think more significant uh progressions there um so he's had a significant 18o regression so he's at 98 and forini he has progressed 2 points to cap off uh the top 100 there I think really impressing that impressive there and we've touched on I think most players that we've been looking for um and I I think I missed earlier Draper that's what I was looking for 9o progression to 31 given his performance the past week all right that really wraps up that was a lot uh today's episode WJ ATP Tour we did that a little bit back the front but look we've really I think capped on all of the events we've touched up from let's say um Rolland garos and what's happened since those championship finals for obviously ALR and S Tech um the week that has been in between cuz it's been 8 days since um that last recording so depending when you listen to today's episode there's really only eight days between that so we really could I think capture the data the insights of the events that have unfolded and we didn't do um yesterday purely because we knew a couple of those events all those finalist matches were still underway I remember different time zones here based in Australia thank you so much for tuning in today to grab your copy of uh my latest release how to develop um a top 10 tennis ranking head on over
