[Music] welcome to St Louis and Bush Stadium home of the Cardinals since 2006 we're going to be treated to a gorgeous day for baseball on the show it's the Cincinnati Reds taking on the St Louis Cardinals and we'll be back with the first pitch right after this all right first pitch coming up and the right-hander with the good curveball it's sunny gray always a treat to watch one of the best starters in the sport singing well this guy's got sort of a tweener not quite a slider velocity and not as slow as a curve it's in between and he adds and subtracts velocity on it which makes it harder for the hitters to really get that front foot down and have the timing they need to be successful and ready to hit now for Cincinnati Jonathan India and a pitch base hit center field off to a good start with a leadoff KN he was all over that one these days when you see a ball come off the bat like that the first thing you want to know is a spectator what was the exit velocity 109 in this case I mean that's just impressive and it's so cool we can get that sort of feedback so instantly in today's game Ellie De La Cruz the next to hit for the Reds swing and a highfly ball deep left field way back there and out of here a two-run homer it's two nothing one pitch one swing one home run yeah you could say that's efficiency right there didn't need much time in the Box to make it impact elevated fast balls especially away are like putting a ball on a te hitters do a lot of cage work they're comfortable Hitting off the te's and he was comfortable right there hitting that ball opposite field for a home run here's the Reds catcher Tyler Stevenson foul ball there can be tough to bounce back after big home run but nobody on nobody out you just have to treat it as a fresh inning swing and a ball lifted in the air left field pretty well struck that one's back there and gone another one back to back homers and they add to the lead it's 3 nothing another home run this is turning into BP backto back Jacks and this club is fired up right now boo I mean this is the kind of thing where you really start to notice hitters in a line up feeding off each other and the collective confidence just continues to grow at the batter now TJ fredle swings through that one out in front that time gray an Allstar a season ago he features a four seam fast ball a slurve a curve a sinker and occasionally uses a cutter and there's a [Applause] hit so man aboard Spencer steer the next to hit and first offering is fouled off kicks and fires that one ripped right center field and it's a one hopper Off the Wall should be extra bases throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody out Ty France the next to hit for the Reds fast ball for a strike the Reds trying to break this one open and we're just getting started here in the top of the first swing and that's ripped towards Right Center he's got it and there's one down throw cut off to third applies the tag and they get two double play well the defense definitely on the clock with that one everything had to be perfect to get the runner at third and you talk about a throw on the money the relay to third just a good job all the way [Applause] around now it's the Reds DH Jake [Applause] fry here's a knock it out to left he's there he's got it and that is that but two round Trippers in this inning the long ball was working it's now 3 nothing back here at Busch Stadium on the hill for the Reds number 39 it's always interesting to see how he utilizes all of his pitches and how many of those knows he has a good feel for on that given day when he's right he's really able to keep hitters guessing and all of his stuff seems to be coming out the same arm slot the same tunnel that can make life very difficult on his opponents ready to go for the last half of the inning now up for St Louis Mason win and first offering is fouled off they're off to a great start three-run lead after their first inning but so important to be airtight defensively don't give away extra outs and allow that other club to get back in this ball game e e e e the W to kick the pitch swing and a miss struck him out couldn't catch up to the heater just overmatched on that fastball right there and it wasn't like he was set up for it by something off speed earlier in the advat just came right after him with three straight and he had no answer for it and first off ring is fouled off one out base is empty swing and a line drive curling foul down the right side so glad these ballparks have installed The netting to protect the fans keep things safer all around the league struck him out looking frustrating end to the atat for the hitter and I'm sure that's going to sit on him for a little while you want to be ready to hit the fast ball sometimes you can overthink things and a base hit up the middle Joey gets on base and keeps it going waste no time there everything was on time and fluid in that swing got a pitch he could get the barrel on and lined it into center for the knock those always feel good LC and B stands in with two away as he takes the ball foul back ourway and that's out of play the pitch so a foul ball makes it one and two one strike away fights it off he'll see another arado leads off first with two down to the inning and that wraps it up for this afternoon this is just a nice win three nothing ball game you feel comfortable about the three runs that you score but you also know that if you're not careful a bloop a base hit and a home run ties everything up but it was great pitching timely hitting really made the difference a shut out in this one three nothing our final score for Chris Singleton and our entire crew here at MLB the Show thanks for stopping by I'm John Shamy talk to you soon this
