[Music] this is the morning update of Minnesota today for Tuesday September 3rd I'm Jacob aloy and here's what's happening in Minnesota reporters traveling in Wisconsin yesterday with Governor Tim walls were injured in a traffic crash the vice presidential candidate who was headed to a campaign stop in Milwaukee was not hurt campaign officials say the crash involved cars near the rear of the motorcade it wasn't immediately clear what caused the crash which occurred shortly before 1: p.m. local time and caused some minor injuries some reporters had scrapes and bruises and one had a bloody nose two people were killed and several people were injured when a man drove a vehicle into the patio at Park Tavern in St Louis Park on Sunday Peter Cox reports St Louis Park police were called to Park Tavern just after 8:00 p.m. where they found several people injured and two people dead after a car drove into the outdoor patio the park was closed Monday but posted on social media that one of their employees Christina ferz was killed in the crash the restaurant put up a link to a fundraiser for her family saying she was a mother to three young girls Methodist Hospital in St Louis Park says one of their employees was killed in the crash as well and four nurses from the hospital were injured henen County jail records show a 56-year-old man arrested by the St Louis Park par police department is in custody for criminal vehicular homicide police say they are still investigating the incident I'm Peter Cox Minnesota Health officials are concerned about more people becoming infected with measles State epidemiologist Ruth Linfield says about onethird of the roughly 30 cases so far this year ended up as hospitalizations she says the spread of misinformation is of particular concern in the Somali Community which he says has been targeted with misinformation about the misles mumps vaccine we have been working very hard with leaders in that Community with healthc care providers in that community so that people have the accurate information that MMR is safe there's a concern that MMR might be associated with autism this has been disproven lynfield says low-weight babies and young children are most at risk of measles complication as our pregnant women as summer travel season wraps up Public Safety officials in Minnesota say with school buses soon back on the road now's a good time to double down on attention to safe driving Mark zli has more Minnesota office of traffic safety director Mike Hanson says traffic fatalities are running well ahead of last year he says excessive speed increases the severity of accidents Hansen also says motorists should make plans for sober driving if they're drinking alcohol alcohol or using cannabis products we're coming to the end of The 100 busiest days on Minnesota roads and those 100 busiest days are also the 100 deadliest days on Minnesota roads and so what I would ask everybody to do is to take a a pause as we're getting ready to head out for the last big weekend of this summer and commit to making good safe smart decisions when we're behind the wheel and when we're in control of that motor vehicle Hansen says that should include obeying school bus stop arms I'm Mark sedlick in sports the links beat the sky on Sunday 79 to 74 the next play the fever this Friday the twins beat the Rays yesterday 5 to 4 they continue that Series today and Minnesota Gophers women's volleyball took down Texas last night 3 to2 they play Baylor Friday looking at the weather mostly sunny skies are in the forecast with highs ranging from the upper 70s to mid 80s that's it for Minnesota today thanks for listening I'm Jacob looy we'll be back later in the day with an update until then enjoy your day
