just kind of tell us about uh what it means to you today to receive the truck donation for the camp yeah you know we had a bunch of different people that work we work with and uh had come around there four or five different operations got together and did a pickup truck and they giving it the victory Junction and you know it's one of those deals that it don't go directly to the kids but indirectly it will because that's what moves everything around makes everything so that we got everything ready for the kids when they get here so it's a very important piece of of our camp because we got to have stuff like that to make it a able to have the kids here have everything cleaned up so it's it's a it's a big big uh contribution to the camp and when you think about Victory Junction overall you guys have been here for a few years now um you know what does it mean to you to have this Camp here and to keep on giving year after year yeah well we've been here like 20 years you know we started 20 years ago so we're celebrating our 20th year and iner the camp and the Outreach and stuff that we do we've seen like 125 or 30,000 kids that normally don't get to go in any kind of Camp they can't go to church camp YMCA because their Affliction they come here they spend a week and you know from that standpoint they get to see other people that's got the same problems that they have so a lot of times they think they little people in the in the world that has that problem they come here they make friends and then when they leave they so much communication to these people because theyve made friends that has the same problems they have now the camp was made in memory of Adam what do you think that Adam would say if he was still with us today just kind of seeing all this Adam Adam would go berserk on this deal it something that you know him and his dad had go to Florida and seen one of the camps that Paul Newman had down there and uh so he come back and you know he's like 18 19 years old and started looking for some land you know and then we we lost him in a car accident and then uh you know once with everything settled down family got together and said this is something that Adam would eventually got done and so we'll just go ahead and start working with it right now so we got with the racing with the drivers with NASCAR with the fans with the sponsors and everybody just jumped on board and uh you know in a year year and a half we had the thing built and opened up 20 years ago so uh it was one of those deals that uh you know we look back and we lost a grandson Kyle lost a son but the big deal is look at all the people that he's made Happy uh and give them a chance to a new chance in life that they might have not have had without the accident happened yeah now today you gave the uh start command you also started the engine on the car yourself you plan on making any laps around the camping no I don't I don't think so I don't think they want me to drive the truck is in such good shape they've seen me drive before so they probably won't let me drive it very much so Kyle just kind of tell us about your thoughts about everything that's happened here huge day at Victory Junction that that's for sure uh you look at nabc which is the National Auto Body Council you look at all state you look at uh Carstar you look at BASF these Automotive companies have come together to donate a truck a pickup to camp and you say what's Camp need a pickup for everything that's what we need to pick up for everything and by us not having to go buy a pickup we can send probably 10 15 maybe 20 more kids to Camp which is good so um it is a phenomenal day at Camp when you see our Automotive Partners in the racing industry who step outside their comfort level and step outside their boundaries and do something like this it's a special day yeah and of course your family's been pretty instrumental about um they putting this camp on what did it mean to see some of the campers here today to to take everything all in listen and and and and and the same in what I said it's not it's not our camp you know people a lot of times refer to this as the petty Camp uh and we did build it in in memory of my son Adam um but it's not our camp it's their camp the camp only exists so these kids can come to Camp it doesn't exist for cow Petty it doesn't exist for Richard Petty it's just a piece of land with some buildings on it but when these campers come they bring a heart and a soul and a life to this camp that is not here any other time so it's their camp and and that's what that's what it means means it means everything it is a very humbling experience uh to sit in front of them and be able to speak and when you think about the creation of this Camp of course it was made in Adam's memory what would you think that Adam would say seeing everything here today he'd be making fun of us um because he would say it's way too big a deal you know what I mean and sometimes I feel the same way it is way too big a deal is made of us and made of what goes on um you know it's I think he would be very humbled um and I I don't think there's a single camper that's ever come through this gate uh that he wouldn't absolutely be in love with when you kind of take a step back and everything that happens here what would you say is your favorite part about this game uh you know my my favorite part is a kids that that's it you know what I mean bar not look I love that building behind you and I love these buildings back here and I love when they bring the hot air balloons and when they have horse rides and and all this stuff but it's it's when a kid comes for the first time and a kid catches a fish for the first time first time in his life he may be 9 or 10 years old when a kid is able to to build a little ponwood derby and paint it and race it over there in in in arts and crafts and he wins a race and it's like the first race he's ever raced and the first time he's ever won uh to ride a horse for the first time there's so many first that go on here for these children um that it's to me it's like the first time every time seeing each and every one of them uh we had a little girl here today that was is 17 she just aged out she's been coming to Camp since she was 6 years old 6 years old this Camp has been a part of her life and her family's life for 10 years um and that is an amazing thing so for me it's those stories and it's meeting the kids and hanging out with them
