A special ceremony held today at the TPP and all Patriots memorial. A 21 gun salute, the playing of taps, a replaying ceremony and a special flag raising reminded people of how the world changed that day. Chief photojournalist Paul Kwai takes us there as we stand here in front of this police and fire memorial. We pray for those members who once stood next to us, those who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving those around us. Whereas on September 11, 2001, our nation experienced an unprecedented tragedy as terrorists attacked the United States, resulting in the loss of nearly 3000 innocent lives, including brave first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others. September 11th 2001 is a day that is forever etched into our history. A day when ordinary men and women became heroes and a day that changed our world forever. What we didn't know as we awoke that morning was that we were soon to be shocked, saddened and angry in a repeating cycle for the coming days, weeks and months, 23 years ago, 246 people got on flights, traveling for meetings weddings, funerals work and play. 2606 people went to work just a normal business day. Not many communities have a 7000 pound piece of steel from the World Trade Center uh terrorist attacks. So we're pretty proud of that and to be able to carry it on for John 15 verse 13 says greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends. So the flag is uh was donated to us from um Richie Martin who is a pilot. He was one of the pilots for the last C 130 flying out of Iraq. Um He's a Tiffin Tiffany here. He born and raised here and he saw this and he wanted to donate something that meant something to the community on the, the war in Iraq in Iraq. May we never forget their bravery, may we never forget their sacrifice? And may we always carry forward the spirit of unity and service that defined that day?
