Broncos Country what's going on hope you guys are having a wonderful day we've had Troy rank come out recently talk about how javante Williams and samj perine are likely competing for one spot I thought this was very interesting want to give a shout out really quick to gauge over at Bronco Syndicate for making me aware of this news and I want to go ahead and give my two cents on it so y'all be sure uh to check out his video as well linking in the description as well as wish him well recovery with his broken leg and but anyways let's go ahead and get into it y'all let me know your thoughts smash that like And subscribe all that great stuff Broncos Country yeah so Troy rank now of the Denver Post put out this uh little mailbag talking about how javante williams samaj perine are competing for one roster spot and Chris Harris also chimed in on this on Twitter I won't pull it up but he talked about how he is also hearing the same thing and when you look at the the cap savings that the Broncos can have on either of these players um it makes sense that they're competing for one spot we can save I think a little over $2 million maybe close to like two and a half million dollars by cutting uh samj rine whereas we can save about 1.8 if we cut javante Williams now one other thing that was really interesting in this Denver Post article was that there was no mention of Blake Watson so if you have Jalil mlin as well as audri ese fifth round pick on the roster that's two running backs Sam perine and javante Williams one going at uh one filling one of those roster spots that would be three running backs I would like to see Blake Watson on the roster I think that he is a lock to be on the roster given the fact that we're basically giving him as much guaranteed money as audri ese is getting so I would see us right now keeping four running backs if javante Williams can look a little bit more explosive this uh this training camp coming up very very soon I'm gonna go August 1 let me know if you're going August 1 then yes I think it makes sense to cut perine and save as much money on the cap as he can uh however if he still kind of looks the way that he looked last year I think you have to cut him and go with samaj perine perine was way more productive uh last year you can argue who's the better pass protector but gavon Williams averaged a little over five yards per reception where samaj perine was over nine yards per reception and then when it comes to running the ball let me make sure I get this right javante Williams was at 3.6 yards per carry last year whereas Sam perine was at a very solid 4.5 that's a significant difference guys and and if the explosiveness isn't there you have to move in that direction and keeping the most explosive the more explosive back out of the two so I think it all deter all comes down to can javante Williams maybe not return to form before his crazy massive knee injury but can he return to looking somewhat uh like that form maybe not all the way but halfway can he look some what explosive if not if samaj Pine is just looking like a substantially more explosive back you have to keep him on the roster and you just have to let go of uh javante Williams sadly with the reports that we saw to mini camp and and all of that with Andrew Mason C salamy he might be going down the path of JK Dobbins uh which is unfortunate but he's had another month and a half or so to continue to recover rehab hopefully he shows himself looking a little bit better and more fresh come next week when training camp opens up for the Vets so y'all let me know right now if you had to keep one or the other who would it be but I thought it was very interesting that Blake Watson was not mentioned on in this article you gotta keep Blake Watson on the roster I think that he has too much upside and hopefully he can prove that once training camp opens up for rookies uh very very shortly so y'all let me know your thoughts this is going to be exciting stuff I will be back with some more Broncos content here soon and as always y'all go Broncos
