Jackson Holliday is Struggling Again…

after a historic struggle at the plate to begin his major league career and not doing too much better in the immediate future upon his demotion back to Triple A MLB's top prospect Jackson holiday has finally started to heat back up with an Ops north of 900 for the month of July in Triple A the Orioles made the call to get Jackson back up to the major leagues following the departure of fifth ranked Orioles Prospect Conor Norby at the trade deadline and an injury to utility man Jorge Mato holiday looks to improve upon his two for 34 start in the big leagues that he posted in his first stint back in April and he got off to quite the start right away by belting a Grand Slam in his first game back and very nearly hitting another three-run Homer later in the game a great sight to see for a young man with such a bright future at one point Jackson holiday was a combined three for 42 between his call up to the majors and his first few games back in Triple A to say he was struggling would be an understatement not to beat up on the kid but you do understand just how much he struggled in his brief stint in The Bigs back in April the Oriol sent him down to Triple A to become the everyday second baseman of the Norfolk Tides and work on some adjustments while getting consistent everyday at bats at the minor league level and to his credit he did did that he made the adjustments necessary to get the call back to the big leagues and now he looks to make the most of it and stay at the major league level this time given the recent moves that we've discussed it's looking like holiday has a clear path to remain on this team for the remainder of the Season as I've mentioned he's put together an impressive stretch of games here recently and finally showed the consistency that was needed for a return trip to the big leag leagues mikee Elias made the call and here we are with a fresh start in the major leagues for Jackson something that I want to keep my eye on over the next few weeks is Jackson's strikeout numbers I've been paying close attention to those with holiday given the fact that he went down on strikes at a staggering 53% rate during his first stint in the major leagues this number sat around 27% in the miners so still a little high but overall an improvement from where he was strikeout rate has always been the most concerning thing for me how much is he competing in his at bats right the more you're able to put the ball in play the more the hits are going to fall Jackson wasn't even really giving himself a chance to succeed in the big leagues with some of the at bats he was taking he was completely overmatched since he was demoted however and in his brief time back in the big leaks to this point holiday is striking out less having more competitive at bats and now finally the hits are starting to fall I'm still super bullish on Jackson holiday moving forward it feels that he's finally started to get that confidence back that he had coming into the season and his adjustments are starting to pay off it's going to be interesting to see how many at bats he's going to be getting I would imagine that the orol are going to try to have him out there as much as possible hitting in the lower third of the lineup for now but certainly getting the bulk of the at bats with those departures that we mentioned now the question is will Jackson holidays bad be woken up for good and can he officially put this slump the worst of his career to this point behind him obviously there's going to be good games and bad games this is baseball I don't think Jackson's going to pop off 10 consecutive multi-hit games however I do expect that in the weeks ahead the hits will continue to pile up for holiday and this impressive stretch we've seen from him could be the moment that it all changed for the future Superstar I am very optimistic that Jackson holiday is about to go on a tear and when he does that's only going to mean good things for this Orioles offense that has quite honestly been one of the best offenses this year and adding a guy like this despite the struggles in his first stint in the majors could be a huge lift for them headed down the stretch and into the playoffs as I mentioned in my last video this is almost like a trade acquisition this is almost like going out and acquiring a player at the trade deadline being able to call up a guy with this much talent it just so happens that he was in House of course but that's a very good thing for the Orioles to not have to give up something to get holiday they just had to give up uh their 2021 season uh in the fact that they had the worst record and got the number one overall pick I am curious if you think that he has now officially put this slump behind him why or why not let me know down in the comments if you enjoyed this video feel free to give it a thumbs up and subscribe so you don't miss out on any future videos thanks and I'll catch you all in the next one [Music]
