Learning new information this morning about that tragic double fatal crash Monday night along Claremont Mesa Boulevard, a driver who collided with two San Diego police officers killing one of them has been identified as a 16 year old boy CBS. State's Kelly Hessel joins us from the scene where there are memorials for the officer and for the teenager, Kelly. That's right. If you take a look behind me, you can see those two memorials over there with that flag and those flowers there for officer Austin Matar and several feet away. There is also memorial for that teenage driver who died. So this is where his BMW ended up. He's been identified as 16 year old Edgar Giovanni Oviedo, someone came by earlier and lit candles out here for him. So this is all happening as investigators are still taking a close look at what happened this morning. City of San Diego, workers were out here with the CHP physically taking down two surveillance cameras here at the crash site near Claremont Mesa Boulevard and to leave a drive presumably to try and get the footage of the collision from the cameras. All the CHP would tell me is that they took them down as part of the investigation. So as that continues, CBS eight learned Oviedo only had that silver BMW involved in the crash for a very short period of time. He bought it off Craigslist Sunday the day before the deadly collision. In the surveillance video, you can actually see that BMW skidding down the street after colliding with the police suv killing officer Austin Maar and critically injuring officer Zachary Martinez Maar, who was often featured in department training videos grew up in Chula vista. He attended O Ranch high school. He was well loved by his colleagues. He was a 5.5 year veteran of the force. Now, Martinez is a 27 year old Texas native and navy reservist who moved to San Diego for his military service. Martinez is on the left in this cell phone video that a friend of his shared with us while they were on board. The US S Roosevelt back in 2017 as Martinez was on deployment there in the Middle East. The San Diego Police Officers association flew Martinez's mother out here to San Diego so she could be with them. He obviously suffered extensive injuries and it is going to be a very long road to recovery. Kelly on CBS eight. Just a devastating story. Kelly, we appreciate
