NEWS 8 AT NOON. GOOD AFTERNOON... I'M ANN NYBERG. WE'RE CONTINUING TO FOLLOW DEVELOPING NEWS ABOUT A BOAT ACCIDENT IN OLD SAYBROOK. ONE PERSON IS DEAD ÃAND TWO ARE MISSING. ÃAFTER THE BOAT WAS FOUND HALF-SUBMERGED WITH EXTENSIVE DAMAGE AT HARBOR ONE MARINA. THAT'S WHERE WE FIND NEWS 8'S BRITTANY TAYLOR. BRITTANY ÃWHAT'S THE LATEST? The search continues for those two missing people... However this is now being deemed by officials as a recovery mission. We got an update from Econ Police this morning Ãthey say the operator of the boat is in critical condition and is being treated in the hospital. Take a look at some scene video last night. It's believed the 31-foot motorboat was coming back from Block Island Ãwhen it collided with the east break wall at the causing major damage.cut River - DEEP responded to the situation just after 9pm. In total - 9 people were on that boat. Crews say they found a man dead which was significantly damaged. Six people were taken to the hospital. ECon says one has since been released. Multiple crews from surrounding towns were on scene last night. The Coast Guard, State Police and LifeStar are all involved in this investigation as well. Here's the latest from ECon Police....
