left tackle Trent Williams ending his hold out finalizing a 3-year 82.6 million restructured deal that includes 48 million at signing he could play as soon as Monday season opener against the Jets on ESPN in 6 days the 36-year-old Pro baller hadn't reported but his back right after Brandon auk ended his contract in pass um just security security obviously um you know it's a volatile League um um you know and I guy my stature my age you know I thought security was important um and that was all um I definitely wasn't trying to dodge Camp you know um not trying to sound like a teacher's pet but I like C you know I feel light I like I said I feel light I feel more ready than um if if it didn't go out this way so um I'm super excited feeling fresh feeling renewed coming with a new energy so just excited to play football again in terms of conditioning stamina and just being ready to play Monday against the Jets ready to go oh yeah he'll be ready on ESPN in six days NFL Insider Dan Graziano with us here before this Williams by the way had three years left on his contract no guaranteed money coming in you heard him security what more can you tell us about Williams and this Niners reworking his contract yeah this was always going to be be the issue three years ago he signed a six-year free agent deal with the Niners and the way it was built Kevin the first three years were solid the last three years were always going to have to be reworked if he wanted to keep playing at at age 36 and that's what happened they throw him the extra guarantees he's got the signing bonus he's got fully guaranteed salary this year fully guaranteed salary next year and there in lies the security that he is talking about this is still one of the best if not the best left tackle in the game at age 36 he has consistently said he does not see himself as near the end of his career still feels good still feels like he's playing at a high level the 49ers obviously agree and once they got Brandon iuk signed last week they were able to focus their energy on getting this done and now they look like they're in good shape heading into the opener against the Jets okay so IU comes in he's fresh Williams will come in he's fresh uh meanwhile star running back Christian mcaffrey dealing with a calf injury what's the latest on that situation well he was back on the practice field for the ners today and that's obviously a very good sign now that team has consistently said that it was being cautious probably overly cautious with Christian mcaffrey uh and his calf injury uh he has said he could have played if it was regular season so as a player it's extremely important to them it's a player who's got a bit of an injury history uh and they wanted to take no chances they feel like he'll be ready to go uh and they're not concerned about that calf injury lingering into the season they feel like they managed it well is [Music] [Applause] [Music]
