KUMAR IS COMING

hey guys it's John Moore from dlls Rangers weekly podcast coming on real quick with the news that Kumar rocker is about to get promoted to to pitch this Thursday in the major leagues I was wrong most of you have called me out on that and that's fine give it to me I deserve it I did not think this was going to happen look the Rangers have a lot of maneuvering to do this offseason a lot of ways they want to go with this and you just 40 Man spots were so valuable I just thought you know if they're out of this thing why wait it now since he is not required to go on the rule five draft next year so he would you know you wouldn't have to put him on there unless his spring was outstanding and and he was obviously going to make this team uh team's rotation out of spring training which I thought was likely honestly I mean he just looked like he was ready to go but this is very encouraging on another Point Rangers are wanting to see what they have they're going in with rocker lighter you've got Maui who's coming back now who's shut down for the year but that's a name they've already got next year you've got deg Grom who they're going to throw into the big leagues and let him pitch we already know that because they want him to go into a normal off season so that starts off you got deg Grom probably evaldi we'll see if if if his option invests or whatever he'll have a choice then you'll have Molly you'll have lighter rocker Bradford Dunning you have all these guys under contract going into the off season that can free up you know you need seven eight good starters to get you through a season because some of these guys de Grom and rocker included they might have beond Innings watch they may not go 200 Innings after coming back from you know first full season coming back from TJ so you may have them you know around 120 or 30 Innings is all you really want to get them so at some point shutting them down part of the year for a little bit just to keep them fresh so that frees up money maybe you only need to go after one more starter another good starter that that's going to hit free agency Corbin Burns is a name that's been mentioned out there but on the other side go after a bat I mean look there's a lot of money that comes off the books and you know we don't know what the TV deal is yet but something will happen on that front but the Rangers that what they're doing with with rocker which I find encouraging look I people think I didn't want him to come up I just didn't think they would bring him up I I just was answering questions and I was wrong totally wrong um I thought if he was coming up at all it was going to be because maybe they were getting back in this thing and they wanted the one of the best arms they had and that would have been one of the best arms he's obviously had two starts in triple and looked fantastic so I mean he was already uh just just shoving at Double A and you know he made the start in high a to but you know going into the off season this year they did did it with white Langford and Carter they depended on Carter and Langford to kind of shore up the Outfield and you saw rookies that come into a season it's not always that easy they're going to struggle a little bit and and when I even suggested that maybe they weren't going to be as good as everyone thought they were going to be um you know they they might just have regular season you know this is best pitching in the world I was chastised over it and we're seeing that look lanford's founding his own right now Carter coming back from injury we'll see if he's the guy he was in the playoffs going up to that World Series run we don't know but the Rangers need another bat first base is another question that they've got to ask themselves about Nate low who's been good lately hasn't shown power numbers you expect from there adol Garcia what's he going to be this has been a down year for him but it's encouraging with the rocker new in the fact that maybe adolis Garcia or I'm sorry maybe this means they are looking to spend they want to be smart about where they spend because they are probably going to or maybe they're looking at we're going to spend some money and we want to make sure that we're spending it the right place if we've got some pretty good pitching on here we may only need one good starting pitcher you know you got those guys at the back of the bullpen you may you know at least Yates or Robertson do you want to bring both of those go back those guys back or at least one of them back it's going to cost some more money to do that and then they've got these guys also like tooto who's probably going to get on the 40 man um this year who who could be another Bullpen piece or maybe he's going to be in the rotation also but the Kumar rocker news is interesting and good and I think it's a good thing I think this is showing that the Rangers are going into the off season looking to improve this team and wanting to make sure they spend money wisely instead of just throw it out there kind of the way the Mets did a couple years ago but with that being said there's one looming question is Chris Young going to be the GM that could throw this whole thing into a total meltdown
