Julian Huff reflects on healing childhood trauma through marriage to Brooks Lake Julian Huff recently opened up about her journey of healing childhood trauma during her marriage to ex-husband Brooks Lake revealing how their relationship provided her with a sense of safety and stability that she craved since childhood in a candid discussion on the Jamie Kern liema show the 36-year-old dancer and actress reflected on her experiences sharing insights into her past and the impact of her former partner on her emotional well-being when half and Lake tied the knot in 2017 she felt a deep need to reconnect with her 10-year-old self what did I need at 10 I really needed safety and almost like a father figure to come in and be that grounding force of stability Huff explained during the podcast episode this longing for a nurturing presence was rooted in her traumatic childhood experiences which included being sexually abused by a neighbor at the tender age of four Huff recounted the painful reality that there was not a lot of repercussion for what had happened highlighting the lack of support she felt in the aftermath of her trauma during her marriage to Lake 41 Huff found herself in a dynamic that allowed her to embrace a little girl feeling with the security of a stable man at home he provided such a beautiful foundation for me to be a little girl she recalled emphasizing how their relationship fostered an environment where she could begin her healing Journey as she started to feel more grounded Huff noticed a trans formation within herself allowing her to become more of a woman who began to listen to her own voice and question her experiences however HFF also acknowledged that their relationship began to unravel shortly after their wedding in her discussions she articulated the complexities of their evolving Dynamic stating I had this marriage to this guy who represented more of a father figure to me and while he was changing I was changing she noted that as Lake began to contract she was simultaneously expanding leading to a disconnect that ultimately contributed to their split the former couple announced their separation in May 2020 decision that felt like uprooting everything Huff had established for her control and protection despite the challenges they faced Huff described Lake as a great human being and asserted that both their marriage and breakup were exactly right for them at that time their joint statement upon their split emphasized the abundance of love and respect they continued to share for one another the divorce proceedings were finalized in February 2022 5 months after Huff filed for divorce since then lake has moved on and is currently dating CrossFit athlete Katherine ton Davis doti meanwhile Huff has taken a more private approach to her romantic life with no public relationships following her split from Lake she did however share a kiss with model Charlie Wilson in November 2021 and has hinted at plans for a hot girl summer in 2023 as Huff continues to promote her book everything we never knew she is not only shedding light on her past but also encouraging others to confront their own traumas and seek the healing they deserve her Reflections on her time with Lake serve as a reminder of the complexities of relationships and the ways in which they can shape our personal growth in sharing her story Huff hopes to inspire others to find the strength to heal and grow regardless of the challenges they may face along the way through her journey it is evident that while some relationships may come to an end the lessons learned and the healing achieved can leave a lasting impact that continues to shape one's life moving forward
