[Music] what's going on jeromes so I I know that the wounds are so fresh about the Vikings waving uh jumping jiren Hall aka the warm missile AKA Karen Hall he wants to speak to the manager of football uh but I don't know we're just trying to get these memes and and just in case he doesn't come back to the practice squad but uh so we sort a Shad on uh Brett rippen yesterday and that that's not fair because now he's a viking and now uh he's the greatest quarterback of all time so we need to talk about him uh so let's talk about Brett ripping today and also uh he missed out on the the nickname video uh but we're gonna call his nickname is ass not because he's ass he's kind of ass but like we said ripping ass Come On Come On Son there you go so let's talk about the Vikings new quarterback today uh background Brett rippen uh 28 years young 6'2 202 uh former four-star recruit from Spokan Washington the crown jewel of Eastern Washington right uh and yes he is the nephew of a Super Bowl winning quarterback Mark rippen so there you go uh so that would make him the cousin of the lre uh football league Superstar rippen right because that was Mark rippen's daughter pretty sure uh anyways but uh record setting quarterback at Boise State uh senior season uh 2018 375 yards passing uh 30 touchdowns seven picks and also uh he was teammates broken the day it's been a while since we had a good back in the day uh but hard-hit Brett rippen uh was uh teammates with Alexander Madison as well as Ezra Cleveland old friends they're basically made up the Boise State Avengers getting after things I like it uh his NFL Draft profile now should make your eye twitch a little bit uh this is from lerine nfl.com back in 2019 uh NFL comp Nick Mullin and now now that I thought about it for a while I actually think that this Ripp and signing is more about Mullins than it is about jiren Hall but we'll get into that uh draft projection seventh round uh priority fore agent uh overview light on measurables but high and intangibles rippen's lack of size mobility and ANL arm Talent makes it unlikely that he'll ever become a serviceable starter uh what has a chance to save him is his football intelligence accuracy and consistency he stepped right in as a freshman and proved he could not only survive but Thrive and grow uh troubling number of interceptions were due to lack of arm strength so he needs to find a timing based passing game in order to find a home as a a back and uh back and backup now so Mullins a lot of his interceptions is just like I can I could probably fit it in there and maybe that that is a lack of awareness of arm strength but I don't know like does he have a hose for an arm like JJ McCarthy uh no uh strengths comfortable and experienced playing from under Center smooth drop and setup uh and works with good Rhythm compact release uh plays with above average football intelligence uh games Defenders into showing their hand D D D D all so overall you know gritty gutty High football IQ just doesn't have the arm probably a future offensive coordinator or head coach down the line um that that's where we're currently at uh and rippen ended up going undrafted in 2019 also I I like that 62 is undersiz I'm just chilling here like 58 hey hey you're undersized bro uh but undrafted in 2019 uh spent four years with the Broncos uh and yes he had that famous sideline dust up with Dalton riser just really funny man it's really funny to me uh but uh also had Crossover with uh Vikings not Vikings coaches Curtis modkins and Chris Cooper uh the Run uh running backs coach and Run game coordinator and offensive line coach respectively uh during his time in Denver so they obviously have seen how ripping Works uh in the facility uh last season was with Shawn McVey and the Rams uh had one start against the the greas gramy Green Bay Packers uh on November 7th uh lost and then was waved you lost bro y out overall just wasn't a very good game uh but Seahawks picked him up uh for Intel and then was placed on their practice squad and then the Jets P Jets picked him up to finish out the season uh overall uh in his NFL career he's appeared in 10 games four starts uh 950 yards passing four touchdowns nine picks and a 59.9 quarterback rating which is not it's not good it's not not not very good uh then he spent preseason with the the Bears uh and overall looked really good in preseason especially the Hall of Fame game uh his uh preseason stats from PFF Vikings 86.9 uh PFF passing grade third amongst all quarterbacks uh 24 of 34 335 yards passing three touchdowns no picks uh 73.5% adjusted completion uh rate which I don't know what that means uh and 131.5 uh pass rate which is good yeah so there you go uh but the be decided to let him go uh cuz they're roolling with Caleb Williams for whatever reason as well as Tyson badge in the pride of Shephard uh and what Brett rippen brings so veteran experience six years uh in the league work in a similar offensive scheme with the Rams last year uh with McVey ajacent does have accuracy at all three levels High football IQ film junkie he he just doesn't have that arm Talent right and you see Jaden McCarthy where we talked about how McCarthy threatens every single blade of grass RI and doesn't do that and frankly Mullin doesn't do that either and well jiren Hall does have an arm though uh but they talked about how a lot of his interceptions are more about like he can't hit the Deep out uh he can't thread the needle on third down on the slant in between the the linebacker and the safety it's just things like that but you know does have a great mind uh for McCarthy in that quarterback room he's not going to be a starter at any point like he's not going to be a full-time starter in this league he's probably going to be a career back backup uh but even though he he does he did throw a high number of interceptions it's less about gunslinging H and more about cap on Talent so it it's not about gunslinging like Nick Mullins and I think that the Vikings could be looking for a lower variance uh version of Nick Mullins because yeah Nick Mullin can sling it uh but I mean half the time is going to be other team and also to a low level I mean Bears Intel that that's whatever but the Vikings don't play the Bears until late in November and a lot a lot of things will change uh by then because if you got into Kevin McConnell's comments from yesterday like it wasn't necessarily A ringing endorsement for Nick Mullins basically said that Nick Mullins will be the backup week one and then who knows all right so I I I do think that yeah after some time in reflecting I think that the rip and signing was much more about finding a functional replacement for Nick Mullins because even though jiren Hall is Advanced age for a second-year player like he he still does have potential like his potential would say it's uncapped but could he rise up and be a starter eventually maybe uh but that's not happening for Mullins and that's not happing for Brett rippen uh but having rippen high football IQ guy probably a future coach uh long term in that room with JJ McCarthy and also a guy that if he has to start you don't have to worry about him just chucking into the other team all the time because uh he's a gunslinger like Nick Mullins about a guy who can functionally operate within the offense and act accurately distribute the football I mean yeah I do see that upside there so like I said when you you take a second and look back it's like The Ripping move is a lot more about Nick Mullins than it ever was about jiren Hall sort of makes sense but we we'll see how this thing plays out I'll see if jiren Hall clears waivers today and if uh and if uh he he does indeed resign with with the Vikings practice squad but but overall like I after the initial shock I I don't mind it I I don't and if the plan is to have him eventually replace Nick Mullins M for man go ahead but your thoughts our thoughts uh looking at new Vikings quarterback Brett ripping come on Brett let us know your thoughts our thoughts comment section and you guys know what to do skull production
