[Music] Ezra Levant here it's after 10 p.m. at night at Toronto's International Airport just around the corner is a plane I'm about to get on we're going to fly through the night landing in sou Paulo Brazil in the morning tomorrow is the Independence Day in Brazil but we're going for a different reason it's also the day of massive protests against the regime there their president Lula as he's known is a bit of a thug a bit of a tyrant I say that because he's censoring his political opposition in fact he's working with a radical judge named Alexandre deoras who has having secret censorship trials and blocking the political opponents of Lula on Twitter now known as X and when Twitter fought back and when Elon Musk fought back well Lula escalated Banning the app from all of Brazil and then Banning people from getting onto the app using a VPN which is a way around Internet Security and then he put a fine on it about $8,000 if you dare to use a VPN he's now started seizing assets by other companies that Elon Musk is associated with like starlink the satellite system so tomorrow we're told is going to be a big day there's people in the streets anyways because of Independence Day but I understand it's going to be massive opposition to Lula and his SL slouching back towards dictatorship you know Brazil was a dictator CIP until about 40 years ago so it hasn't been free very long Lula looks like he wants to take Brazil back to the bad old days as opposed to the direction taken by say Argentina's Javier Mill towards Freedom we're going to be on the ground doing reporting live on the streets citizen journalist style and you know what we're going to post our reports to X to Twitter despite what the government says we're going to use a VPN to get around there b so you can follow follow us in real time now we've got some hurdles I don't speak a word of Portuguese but I'm counting on the fact that I I expect there will be some people there who can talk to us even in broken English I hope that we'll be able to find some like-minded people who care about freedom I want to hear from them directly obviously we'll pay attention to the police and we don't want to be arrested either that's why we're not going to post this video until we're through their Customs and Border Security on the other end I'm recording this on Friday night after 10 p.m. but I'm not going to release it until I'm in the country 10 a.m. tomorrow morning hopefully I won't be arrested I don't think I will be but that's one of the precautions we're going to take wish me well and by the way this is what Twitter's all about this is the citizen journalism that people like Lula hate and we're crowdfunding our journey down there our tickets that we bought last minute myself and my videographer Ephraim Oswaldo Flores Monsanto we're going down together we crowdfunded the tickets that's what we're doing right now you can help chip in at the truthout brazil.com it's about 3,000 bucks Canadian for the two tickets of us we're just staying one night in sou Paulo in a hotel we have some taxi pair Al together about $4,000 I hope we can raise it and I hope you keep going back to that website the truth about brazil.com CU I expect we're probably going to have 20 or 30 little video updates and text updates throughout the day there is a chance things will go sideways and God forbid we'll be arrested it's happened to our journalists before we have some precautions I won't tell you about those now but I want to hope for the best all right I'm going to get on the plane now we'll see you in 12 hours we'll post this video once we're through security on the ground wish us luck and check out the truth about brazil.com
