you know it's so interesting to me I I love Hollywood stories and how politics interchange you know from um you know the Soviets trying to take out John Wayne to how they foresaw Reagan as well too so I I I think I'll St for Dennis you know how what did you know and maybe what did you learn about this contention but also maybe their view of us politics and even Hollywood a little bit the Soviets yeah uh they were they were uh involved in Hollywood a lot more than you know previously thought especi when the uh the Soviet Union fell and they it went into the files which were released then she was like surprised surprised they really were trying to infiltrate uh the unions here in in Hollywood it made sense it's about taking over the the media about what people hear uh and and having control over over what we see and here and uh so Ronald Reagan actually fought against that as president of the Screen Actors Guild he fought um against uh Union uh there was one particular Union of about combining all the unions into into one so they could have more control over them Ronald Reagan was also uh a lot of people don't know this but actors today we have like probably the best health insurance you can have and Ronald Reagan is responsible for that uh about 1961 he actually came out of retirement he wasn't then president but he went to bat and came back and fought for it and got it for all of us actors thank you Ronnie yeah for my kid thank you yeah uh you know Dennis if I can ask you you know uh to get into characters sometimes there's a line or something that gets you into it what helped you get into Ronald Reagan was this a phrase or eating a Jelly Bean or where where did you find it to kind of get into him well uh you know he used that well yeah to give himself a millisecond to think about it and there's something about tilt of his head but it was really also his Crooked Smile that he had I think he had nerve damage in of you know from childhood or something that had that Crooked Smile to it and all those things a lot of little things that added up but then I had to like learn them and forget them and just let everything be uh Penelope when it came to Nancy of course uh her story her story went on Beyond of course her just being the first lady is she was someone who kind of changed and was was a was kind of a shin light for people and and helping people too so how did you see her uh who she was then and who you got to essentially become as her as the time passed through in this story um I felt like she was a very proud woman and she was very strong woman um and she was very much her own person and I respected that about learning about her um she she was deeply madly in love with with uh her husband um and she really believed in him and supported him and I mean he was her whole life she she really sort of gave up you know her being the actress and the star she didn't care about that and she really wanted to be by his side which is a beautiful thing some people would think oh no that makes you weak but I think that that's a strength if that's her choice if that's your choice but I just learned a lot from reading her autobiography um just a lot about what she went through her insecurities vulnerabilities strengths and um a lot of books and interviewed a lot of people that had worked with her and know her and uh the C the outfits and the wigs helped enormously thank God for our creative team for sure well thank you both I hope everyone in your world is happy and healthy and Dennis I hope to see you at the Toronto Film Festival for the substance if you're out there I will be there the fifth we'll talk to you then have a great day you too
