Thank you for joining us tonight. A 12 year old girl is in custody after police say she made threats that ended up shutting down two schools in Saint Paul. Those threats were allegedly posted on social media last night. Police are now trying to figure out if that child was the only one responsible for sharing the messages that all comes after a wave of online threats made in the last 24 hours against schools across the country. Joe mccoy joins us live from ST Paul Chris Community School of Excellence behind me is one of those two schools that decided to close today and even though the threat was not carried out, ST Paul police is taking this incident very seriously. ST Paul's schools are under threat today as police say a 12 year old girl posted to Instagram saying schools I will shoot up with a list of 22 campuses across the city. We take these threats very seriously and our investigators began to try to chase down leads and try to identify where these threats were coming from. ST Paul Police public Information officer Mike Ernster says the girl admitted making the post and was placed into custody this morning. They did not have the means or the desire to carry out this threat and we're still working through why they would have done it. I think it's very unusual that a 12 year old girl, Mike Olson Ceo of 360 security services and former secret service agent says social media has changed the way these threats can spread. All it takes is for somebody to put something out like that. Somebody else pick up on it, you know, and, and like the flash mob concept, you know, where somebody sees it now, they want to post it in September last year. Law enforcement agencies across Minnesota responded to more than a dozen unfounded reports of school shooters prompting some schools to go on lockdown today. Hope Community Academy and Community School of Excellence, both canceled classes while ST Paul public schools decided to stay open when this message went out. It scared a lot of people. This had a great impact on our, on our community and extended areas of Minnesota and maybe the us, dozens of schools across the country have reported these fake online threats within the past 24 hours. It's unclear how or if this threat here in ST Paul relates to the ones we saw nationwide. Chris, thank you, Joe.
