University of Houston Football Camp

hey how's it going everybody Welcome to the University of Houston this is the uh indoor practice facility for University of uh Houston Cougar's football here and this is a high school football camp that my nephew's going to participate in he's over there we're getting ready for it to start these people have pre-registered and they're going to test her skills and all this stuff and my brother-in-law asked me to film this so YouTube's a good way for us to film it landscape here I can zoom in and out and he's taking a lap around seeing if they see anybody else he's over there and he's going to walk around my uh my nephew Jace is over there and uh we drove in past the uh Houston skyline there I was trying to stream on Tik Tok and then I guess Tik Tock got confused used and I got a temporary 24hour suspension there hey Mary theres how you doing here thanks for uh finding me on YouTube and uh yeah here we are we're at the uh University of Houston practice facility and about 300 p.m. this football Camp's going to start here and so I'm going to film uh Matt and Jace my nephew Jace is going to participate in this and all these people are going to practice their skills here trying to get into college level football here which is huge in Texas hey Angel how's it going there thanks for tuning in Mary thees and angel and thanks everybody for uh yeah doing well NEOS how you doing there Taco jalapena salsa yeah so this is no big deal I'm not going to sweat it I know I always become melodramatic every time I like a little kids throwing a tantrum I I get angry with Tik Tock when I get a temporary suspension which I don't understand I don't understand any of them but it's just the algorithm it actually said I was promoting dangerous activities by sitting in a passenger seat with my seat belt on filming out the window and uh it might have I said I was zoomed in so I said I I said I'm going to make everybody sick and that's what triggered the algorithm isn't it so stupid that just me saying I'm going to make people motion sick said that and you know but well it comes at a good time I wasn't planning on doing much Tik Tok live streaming anyway we got YouTube here Christopher how you doing there yeah Christopher dodson's tuning in yeah do you hear what I just said Christopher I was I was my brother-in-law was driving his SUV down the interstate I wanted to film the Houston skyline on Tik toac and so I fired it up and I was having problem with the gimbal so the the image was all shaky and I was zoomed out and and and that's what triggered the algorithm to give me it said I was promoting danger activities by just streaming out the window from a passenger seat with my seat belt on and just talking to my brother-in-law we didn't even curse or anything so uh yeah Tik Tok is pretty stupid but hey we're on YouTube here we're streaming on YouTube we're at the University of Houston practice facility here my brother-in-law asked me to uh film this for my nephew and uh hey yeah Taco you know Christopher and uh yeah it happens all the time it goes back to my Theory you know Dan all day New York City gets the same thing too the more you live stream the more you're going to get something that trips their robotic algorithm and they'll find a reason unless you're one of their favorite Sons like Don where Don can film like real violence and they won't they won't they won't uh uh dock him because they make so much money off of him and that's all they really care about so we know what's going on here but here let's let's walk around here so we'll we'll get some uh footage here of all the people here getting ready for the football camp look how large this practice facility is here I want to film some of the University of of Houston campus Because it's a beautiful campus here of course we filmed Rice University before how you going there yeah yeah Tik Tock I know I see what you say very lucky guy you know what's going on we've been through this before 24hour suspension it's only I can still post videos it's just it's just a live streaming band which we've weathered those before I don't think I got to strike against my account because it's chicken stuff but uh welcome to the nanny state that is Tik Tok people ask me they say why are you on YouTube this is exactly it Christopher Dodson knows why I'm on YouTube Tik tok's probably going to go away anyway so I'm trying to get my Tik Tock audience to start watching me on YouTube we got 59,000 on Tik Tac only 2,000 on YouTube so we got plenty of capacity but uh hey see anybody out out run yeah nobody from nobody from The Woodlands or condro that's okay I didn't recognize them they might be yeah we could watch from this side too where I'm going go once everybody get go to go to the center Center and sit down good so I'll I'll stick with you there but uh I was going to make sure they didn't kick us off of this side before I called you over no that's good oh well we can we can pick any spot we everybody spread out all the way around here yeah I see what you say Christopher yeah that's good so we got 2:58 so at 3 300 p.m. they're going to start this thing people are getting ready here and so what do you think's going to happen they're going to call everybody to the center and I'll wait till you finish there I'm not sure okay this my first one I'm rookie yeah you tell me what's going to happen yeah we'll figure it out we'll figured out let me see so does this door go outside here I might be able to walk around some of the campus here let's see if this is an alarm door or not and uh emergency accit only so no we shouldn't go out that way hey thanks everybody for tuning in we'll just wait for this uh football camp to start and then you know I I do want to walk around the campus uh yeah this door looks like it's open so we can we you know I'll film some of the football camp and then I might if it gets boring I'll duck out and we'll go out and walk around the quadrangles and check out some of the new housing there is a Transit line that runs down here from uh downtown Houston and I've ridden the light rail it's pretty nice it's a nice uh Transit option the barrels of live streaming or Legion as we always talk about but University of Houston they're they're back within the uh Big 12 here I get Cincinnati and Houston join the Big 12 and uh see what people are doing here they got some other media here they got some people with tripods people are starting to get ready these are probably the coaches here so we'll head back around we'll get over by my uh brother-in-law and my nephew I don't want to I don't want to imp feed upon his mental preparation for the uh physical Feats of Strength he's going to have to go through here to wow the coaches Texas people know how big football is in Texas you ever seen Friday Night Lights this is it right here so this is new to me I'm not used to all this uh I've watched him play in some of his games they they my brother-in has all his three sons involved in sports swimming and football and let see where they went they probably they already moved here move on down here no he's over there in the center there so they're getting ready here in the center what else is going on I've been missing any thing I say you've been streaming Christopher I got to catch up on your content and uh yeah I'm even more pumped up I had a couple my old players right over there that played for me many years ago Michael James your Michael Michael's a great player you AG coached him a couple years ago 96 to be precise and then Orman re played for me 94 95 is that right 95 996 and played for me a little later over blint Jr college and won a few national championships but it's great to have these connections with football is it you didn't know guys and they're your buddies the rest of your life you know so that's one of the things that I uh you know really admire about you guys you know it' be so much easier for you to do other stuff because it isn't tough and hard and wearing equipment out there when it's real hot right sometimes you get a coach on your butt a little bit and you guys get out there and believe me it's going to all pay off in in the end game you're going to have discipline when you're on that job and it gets a little hard you're going to look back at some of these uh memories you had at football and and uh it's going to seem easy to you okay hey here at the University of Houston we talk about recruit retain develop and we recruit Bonafide division one student athletes with character that's a big deal me I have no desire to be around guys and I don't want to be around on a daily basis right so the character component it's important for us it's important to your High School coaches the other thing is make sure you take care of your grades this football doesn't let us forever Guys these guys are both successful doing a lot of other things nowadays right so you got to find something else that's important to you that's big for you whatever it might possibly be retain we're going to do here in the University of Houston we're going to be recruiting pretty much locally this is the epicenter of football in the lordal Houston Texas correct everybody not about your head yes it is it's the greatest football is played in this area right here throughout the state of Texas we'll dabble over into Louisiana a little bit too but that's about him we're going to have a culture where our guys grow on the field off the field in the classroom so important make sure you're one of those guys at your high school where you help the culture yeah Diana we're finally tuning in for Texas I know far away from where you're at how large Texas Isel in the classroom this last University I was just at I there for 8 years we graduated 100% of our student athletes not 99.9 100% make sure you do a great job of developing in the classroom developing off the field then developing on the field that's part of our camp today we're going to try to help you guys out with technique and fundamentals I've got a fabulous coaching step listening to these guys what they're telling you to do but remember when you go back to your high school what your high school coach told you to do is really what you need to do okay I I'm just so happy to be back in the great state of Texas arm around it it's incredible High School coaches guys you got the best coaching in the goddam world too for as far as high school coaching is concerned too so make sure you tell those guys how much you appreciate them on a daily basis let's talk a little bit about Camp goals today number one is safety we tell our guys that when we're practicing and we we will actually how many times we t on the ground spring three times barely did any reps with them I think a total of all the Reps we did Ted on the ground during the Spring was like 120 something like that we missed we stay on our Fe majority of injuries occur guys body to ground contact not body to body contact I don't want anybody on the ground should not be on the ground today I want you to go back to your high school if you're working out tomorrow or Monday and you are healthy very very important hate have to call your high school coach and say man I'm sorry so and so got hurt at my Camp right so to AR sure you do the drills exactly the way our coach could specify you to do the drills but I want to make sure that we are incredibly safe technique fundamental I'm very very important The crucial part of the game you're going to rely upon your Technique that's a big deal so these coaches will help you with that today I I want to have some fun I got some great guys coaching I got some my players raise your hand up I know got shades on yeah go I'm really lucky I've got great young men to represent the University of Houston they're hardworking dudes we push them all right I'm kind of old school FR night like seeing the guys doing things right we starting behind the line you're behind the God dang line all right if you're touching the line you touch the line you're going pass the line you go pass line and these guys have Embrace change and they've just been incredibly awesome I also want to make sure I recognize the athletic training staff there in the back raise your hand please let's give them a hand yeah there's there's a lot of unsung heroes in the sport of football a lot of them are athletic trainers they get out of here and help guys out we'll take some breaks we're going to be inside this incredible facility it's still important for you to make sure that you're hydrated throughout the workout today our video people will be up top uh working hard we're going to videotape this we'll watch this later as coaches I don't know if you can see it or not but there's a camera over there camera right up over there there's a cameras see the one right there right blasting cameras on the ground so be important for us to look at this I want to make sure I mention our strength and conditioning staff they're right over to raise your hand up coach coach Hester does a phenomenal job with our young men as far as strength and conditioning is concerned he's got an awesome staff I mean these guys work their tails off and we're going to get you good warmed up and then we'll go ahead and start our testing right after that I'm going to introduce some of our coaches here that are going to be with you today okay I'm very blessed I got eight guys in my staff that are former Texas High School coaches I'm one of them I used to coach a Willis youbody know where Willis is at I a 45 is north of conro right so we' got eight guys that are former Texas high school football coaches first guy is our offensive line coach Iman mcab you play at KD high school as a matter of fact so we break up here in a minute and you're offensive lineman you'll be going with Coach neab you see him very good next young man is Jordy Joseph Jordy played over last school I was at he's a really really great young running back coach all right he'll do a great job with you running backs right so if you're a running back and we split up here in a moment you're going to go with Jordy Joseph right there okay the next is our defensive coordinator sheeld wood he also works specifically with the linebackers so if you're a linebacker you will go with Coach wood all right I'm I'm blessed to have two tremendous defensive line coaches I got coach Ross who works primarily with the defensive ends I got coach Giles who works with the Big Fellas in high the defensive lineman those intact right so there they are right over there I think we hit all the positions correct d so we're going to break here we're going to do a a little bit of testing we'll run a 40 or two with you guys we'll do a standing PR jump and then we're going to start getting into it follow directions hey everybody on the outside if you could please stay as wide as you can all right I I said this five or six times last week with a guy run a a fade R into to a parent there's somebody holding a baby right next to him luckily nobody got hurt but please stay back white so that doesn't happen if you're an offensive lineman raise your [Music] hand all the offensive line guards tackles centers Big Fellas very good if you are a running back raise your hand up coach everybody see coach Joseph right there get up head on over to the running back line so what is jce the linebacker jce is a linebacker my nephew's a linebacker here so they're just sorting out if you are a linebacker there we go right there where coach wood is head on over to coachwood there he's heading over right there there goes Jay Sid that's great are you guys dividing up for all of you coming together all of you coming together if you're a defense of lineman straight over there to Coach G and Coach Ross right over there so should we go over there or we'll see how they we they're going to run 440s yeah hey they're finishing right here yeah this is perfect we're right at the finish line here so they're going to run 40 yard dases here so hey going to run 40 uh 40 yard dashes they're going to time them and uh so this is actually to recruit people for University of Houston they're going running the footage right they're they're filming this and so it's a way to get noticed when you apply if you want to be part of their program you know and they I guess the Longhorns do this too they all yeah he's going to uh Sam Houston next yeah Sam Houston s San Antonio yeah no no that's in hunsville that's in Huntsville yeah oh okay oh I was thinking of the army base there's an army there's a Sam Houston army base you're talking about the this this helps out a lot they got this nice air conditioned indoor facility here fulls siiz football field most universities have this there's my brother all laying laying there the blue shirt his to eight eight yeah and and you coach you coach you coach for all three of them right y okay so I don't think this is going to go on too much longer they're just getting everybody warmed up so nobody uh pulls the muscle how long you think this is going to go on for a half an hour or probably yeah probably line them up for the 40 now we got 3:24 so they started at 3:00 the coach gave it like a visiting my uh sister and my brother-in-law and my three nephews with my father we drove him down to Texas for Father's Day so he can spend time with his family down here we always enjoy swimming in 161,000 ft football Operation Center only for football it's where our weight room our athletic training room our offices meeting rooms everything will be in that area right over there so we'll be state of the and set us apart from the other schools here in the state of Texas coach is you got anything before we get done here and what I want you to do as soon as you finish I'm going to dismiss
