we were able to get back in it for the most part um so stuff was down today but you know that's part of it that happens um but we made it work for you know until the 6th so um you know it's been a frustrating week for us with all that's happened um we got to figure out how you know reset tomorrow on this off day and you know figure out what we want to do as a group these last two months cuz you know it's frustrating when you know we saw what happened so uh we're just going to have to you know I got to be better I'm continue to work and get where I need to go and see what we can do these last two months Mackenzie what's the most important sign of progress that you're looking for right now from yourself yeah I think just getting better from you know where we were these last you really July um so yeah I think step forward continue to you know hopefully we have a little bigger step forward next time out but you know I'm going to take care of what I need to take care of this next four or five days and be ready to roll there weren't a tons of uh swinging misses today um but you were getting like weaker contact maybe at times so was that a considered effort to just try to get the ball over the pl a little more um you know I think I was you know stuff was down I think also they're aggressive um so there was you know like we didn't get a lot of Swing of Miss or strikeouts there wasn't a ton of two strike counts um and you know that's kind of the game plan they had the whole the whole series so um I think it was a little mix of my stuff wasn't as good and they were also aggressive so is that still good that you can still be effective though even though maybe you don't have your best stuff on a given day yeah I think that's important especially what we've seen um you know I think honestly stuff wise is probably worse than it was some of those bigger outings um but I think that's important from what we've you know I had happen in July and understanding how to be able to get through through outings and make pitches when we need to so um you mentioned what this week was like and that was tough seeing guys depart in in trades for those of you who are here and going to be here for a while how much motivation is there to not put this team in that position again next year where maybe you're trying to add players instead of subtract them yeah um you know I think you know for all of us we don't like doing that um but the only way that happens is if myself and I played well I'm capable of what we're capable of and you know we're getting opportunity here and we are we are better than we were um but there's still a lot of things we can get you know work on and we have to take full advantage these last two months as a group come together and you know just get some momentum going uh coming into August so what's the B for you as a player of like understanding why these deals are made the dead also like way to compete and put the best roster there what's the for you as a player uh well look it's like you play anything you don't want to lose um so we're not just going to quit um you know it's just you know we're going to have to deal with some new faces now these guys are going to get opportunities and know they're going to play hard like we did you come back in the ninth and get being right there in it and that's what we're going to have to do uh control what we can control and you know continue to compete cuz this you know there's been a lot a lot of good things that's happened up this point um you know we struggled more recently but like there's been way too much positive things happened for us to just you know kind of leave it at that so um continue to work hard and play hard and we should be okay
