Johnny Manziel's Scramble Drill For Week 1! Stucky here and I'm joined by our newest edition at Action Network in Johnny Football himself Mr Johnny Manzel is gonna be joining us this fall to provide some great college football content including his scramble drill in which he will go through the big noon kickoff on Fox the big game on CBS at 3:30 and then the mar key Prime Time game each and every weekend Johnny what's going on brother welcome to the team what's going on my man thanks for having me on appreciate it I'm excited to get this uh season rolling yeah before we do jump into the first game I did want to just ask you since you obviously played college football uh you played quarterback at Texas A&M did you have any preference or any insight into like you like playing at noon maybe 3:30 The Prime Time game do you have any insight there on just like when you got to play in the actual time yeah I remember uh I remember my first year uh whenever I was there I loved the early morning games getting up early in the morning being able to get out on the field and I remember saying that to coach sumon and Coach sumon came up to me and he's like you know that's uh that's good that you like getting up here and doing that but the one thing is half the country barely gets to see you play so the whole West Coast is not really getting a chance to see these games so I think as it kind of went on you know that Prime Time 230 slot was a little bit better but for me for whatever reason I like getting up early in the morning getting straight to the field and getting a chance to get out there and get going yeah all right well let's start with that noon game 14 Clemson vs #1 Georgia Picks where both Clemson and Georgia will get up and get going right at noon at mercedesbenz stadium in Atlanta Georgia the number one team in the nation around a two touchdown favorite what do you got here I I really like Georgia in this game I think just from a offensive line and quarterback standpoint and just all-around team that Georgia has you know they they're ready for this game I really do like Clemson throughout the year especially you know their ACC season that they have um but this game I think is just too much dogs too much Georgia I think it's a physical too physical of a team for Clemson coming off the year that they had last year um and really I think just in the grand scheme of things Georg is going to do what they do best run the ball really good play action and really come out and and pound it down Clemson's throat here early in this uh in this slate of college football games on Saturday yeah we'll see if the Clemson offense can have any Improvement in year two of paade Club and offensive coordinator Garrett riy had some struggles last year we will see if that offensive line can handle the Georgia front and you know maybe some better health and a little more Talent at receiver can lead to better results but that's something I'll definitely be looking out for the 330 Akron vs #2 Ohio State Picks game Ohio State I promise in the future we're gonna have better CBS games at 3:30 than Ohio State and akan Ohio State laying a huge number here historically for what it's worth these large favorites like 50 plus have not done that well against the spread but they have fared pretty well in week one before you share your thoughts on this just a question for you was it when you played these clearly inferior teams was there a plan going into it like hey once we get up by this much we're going to pull the starters or are you clamoring on the sidelines hey I want to go in and throw another touchdown on the coaches like no uh you got any insight there I think really on early in the season you're trying to just get your you know this is a internal type of thing that you're dealing with here you want to make sure you know all those practice routes and everything you've been doing through training camp through Spring ball this is your first chance to go against somebody else so it's really more of an internal thing that you're dealing with trying to make sure you and your guys are on the same page going against you know competition so these early games we didn't have much of a script of how much we were going to play or anything like that but really what I'm looking for in this game you know truly is to see how a new quarterback coming in in Ohio State's going to mesh with his guys how this offense runs new offensive coordinator obviously it's it's your first time to get out on the field and get a chance to see you know the cohesiveness of what your offense your defense your special teams really is going against the live opponent all right now let's move on to the Prime 7 Notre Dame vs #20 Texas A&M Picks Time game which I know you have to be excited for with your agies hosting Notre Dame one of a number of games this year that Texas A&M they they have a tough schedule but a lot of their toughest games are in College Station one of the best home field advantages in all of college football major question in this game that not aame offensive line but before you share your thoughts just a question for you one of the main topics about this game all week has been Riley Leonard who was at Duke last year the now Notre Dame quarterback and Mike Elco now the Texas A&M head coach he was at Duke last year who has the edge there is it you know Elco said hey it's Leonard because he got to go against my defenses in practice of course he's going to say that but he also knows all of Leonard's Tendencies so just from your perspective if you had to go up against you know your defensive coach The Following Season who would have the edge there is it the coach who knows your Tendencies or you who has seen so much of his defenses I mean I think I think it's the coach in this setting just simply because there's new wrinkles that can be added that um you know this is a different group of talent that um Elco has here at A&M compared to what he had at Duke so you're always able to throw in different wrinkles and different things like that you know I think it obviously adds a familiarity aspect for going into this you know for the quarterback going into a game where he has lined up against these fronts seen these coverages but there's always plenty of things especially on the defensive side of ball of the ball that you can you know throw in there that really you know looks disguises coverage things that he may never have seen before any thoughts on this game do you like your haggies I I do you know I think you know a Rowdy home crowd here at Kyle Field gives them a good opportunity to have some home field advantage a little bit I really like our defensive front at Texas A&M and then you know on the offensive side of the ball this is a Conor Wegman you know jump back bounce back game after being injured last year um I think it'll be a close game but I think I think A&M ends up pulling away from it you know just a little bit late and winning by a score so one final question for you you have Like and Subscribe! to take Texas A&M off the board so I'll remove your bias and Alabama what was the loudest other stadium that you played in man I I got a chance to play a pretty Rowdy night game at Auburn um you know I thought it was a great Stadium um really really wild fan base and then obviously getting a chance to play at LSU as well you know playing in Death Valley was you know a really really crazy experience for us and they really got after us that day and made it really hard for us on offense so you know there's a lot of stadiums throughout the SEC that are that are pretty special but you know I would have to go back to Auburn and LSU as being two places that I remember you know firmly off the top of my head all right so you like Georgia you like A&M if you're noticing a trend here Johnny SEC is the flavor of the week I also I I forgot to ask you Ohio State aan are you laying the massive number are you taking the dog or just staying away there I think I would go ahead and take the take the points there um you know it's it's one of those games that has to be played almost so perfectly to hit that number and you never know it could be one of those games that's 60 something to zero but you know you think if akan gets any points on the board in that game they should be uh they should be free and
