so I just came from watching the new M Night shamalan movie I don't even know if I'm saying the director's name correctly is it m night shamalan or shalan shalan yeah that's how you pronounce his name trapped a story about Philadelphia firefighter Koopa Adams uh who is a I'm not going to give any Major Spoilers so kuop Adams over here is psychopath serial killer um this movie there's a lot to say about it first off when I saw Cooper Adams he didn't look familiar to me then I Googled him and I saw that he has been an Oppenheimer so I think Oppenheimer is the only thing I've ever seen him seen him in before his acting here is in my opinion very good very good he there are times they do these close-up shots and you can tell this is the true face of a of a sociopath psychopath who's like pretending to blend in with people and act like he's normal but he's not uh his daughter the person playing his daughter is also a very good actor uh the only people in this film who are not very good at acting are ight shamalan who casts himself in his own film and his daughter who is the movie runs for about what about an hour 40 hour 40 minutes I would say that the film is good for about an hour and then begins to derail uh this is because it works well when uh in the opening of I'm really trying to avoid spoiler so in the opening it's set in one specific location and that's why the story worked very well it was nice watching psychopath guy trying to outmaneuver people who are trying to capture him but after they remove him from that setting and move out of there the story kind of goes It goes iffy it's not bad it just goes iffy it tries to do all sorts of funny funny things I don't want to go into detail but goes into funny funny things where sometimes like there's this one scene let me use an example I'll try and be vague about it where em shamalan the the daughter is playing em Shaman's daughter is playing uh lady Raven so lady Raven is talking to psychopath guy and she just looks at him and says that I would not expect someone who is in the presence of a psychopath to say you know comes out of left field it seems very odd um also there are scenes where logic stops working you ask yourself why would a character ever do something like that for example there's this one scene I'm pretty sure psychopath guy took some soda and put it in hot oil where someone was cooking some fries if you watch the movie you know you know what I'm describing and then there's an accident and and you ask yourself why would anyone like be near that or even put their face there or even like be anywhere near that knowing what happens when glass Heats oil interact you know anyway there are places where the story is just playing out and but it defies logic other than that I felt like the film had so much potential it started off so great pacing is mostly good but somewhere around the 1 hour 20 minute back it become a bit convoluted a bit bloated it tries to be very smart and I don't I don't like movies that do that I like movies that are simple and then they go sprinkling a bit of like Brilliance slowly over time as it's building up that's why I don't like something like long legs because long legs tries to be all smart and all complicated and I just end up rolling my eyes because good film is not supposed to be like that in my opinion this is just my opinion now this one tries to do a straight simple story from the beginning and then somewhere around the minut Mark just it just derails and becomes a bit complicated dis and even the ending the way it ends like for a couple of seconds you're like yeah he did something smart but I mean it's not like it's going to help him in that specific situation so out of 10 I would give a trap um a six out of 10 a six out of 10 the entire time I was watching it I was just thinking this is a 6 out of 10 it's not a very very unique idea but the execution was mostly okay it just lost footing in like the last 20 30 minutes uh I Remember by the time it was like coming to a close I was like half awake because I was like this should have ended I don't know I feel like it's it's too long they're trying to do the whole psychopath is clever than the person trying to catch him a bit too much they're extending it a bit too much but other than that um I feel like it's a way more decent film than long legs I am comparing it to Long Legs because I think they came out they come out around the same time and they had the same hype uh yeah I'd rather watch this than long legs I give long legs a four I'd rather give this I give this a six uh the pacing is much better in this one I was planning to do a reaction video to this one but M shamalan movies get a lot of hate I know this because I I watched what I watched the Watchers the Watchers which I think is also involves the daughter or is directed by the daughter it's something related to ight shamalan and that one I did a reaction to that like it didn't get any views so I also said this one I won't bother even doing a reaction I'll just watch it off screen and he just released on digital August 30th so in case uh you're thinking of watching it well I think it's worth the watch I just don't think it will blow you away also m shamalan is known for having like a Twist at the end of the film this one I I didn't see anything surprising I didn't see anything surprising like the way uh The Sixth Sense had me those are just my thoughts tell me what you thought about this film I give it a six out of 10 U great acting in my opinion much better acting than long legs everything here is much better than anything in long legs in my opinion even though I find both stories having a bit of convoluted I prefer watching it I would rather watch trap again then watch long legs B yeah the acting was very good especially from the guy playing Koopa this iath those are my thoughts what are yours I'll see you in the next one
