Critérium du Dauphiné 2024 - Highlights of Stage 4

three different winners since the start of this doofen a but the first outside of Denmark has Derek G grabbed hold of the leader Jersey before a turbulent time in the mountains a 34 km time trial route should shake up the GC standings G GE up as always I'm just going to go out there and same plan as before ride as hard as I can for 30 something kilomet and uh what I get 10 seconds on the line of bonus so that might not be enough but H yeah I'll go out there and give it give it my best and hopefully this jersey uh this jersey gives me a little extra European Champion Joshua Tarling should be an early reference point the 20-year-old heading out fourth the GC contenders should come to the four after a relatively quiet first three days not much seen of Remco evole yet but the scene set for the world champion in this discipline Ramos rogl had a we scare yesterday but no visible problem for bora's Main at least on the surface yeah it was hard start and uh yeah I was a block and then yeah a bit miss miss the road so no pain oh yeah not really we'll see tomorrow in the next days it's nice to change a bit bikes and uh yeah we see will be a super good test now uh with a bit longer time TR uh I didn't really do it yet so uh we see how it goes a time trial that should have the power riders Drew ring at the prospect with 445 M of elevation around niss a test against the clock that will give some indication of the true favorites not a GC threat Tarling was the likely Challenger to evole in this time trial the na Starlet beat the Belgian to the 2023 Chrono of Nations Title the flying Welshman caught three Riders on his way to stopping the clock at 42 minutes 6 seconds averaging nearly 50 kmph yet the 12-year-old didn't fully enjoy the experience describing it as Grim it was just uh it felt slow you know like um it's that Tac that's like quite grippy so yeah it felt uh really hard to get the speed up especially over the top of the climes um but I think I did a decent enough F so thingers crossed no one was getting near the leading time the likes of Fred Wright Neils poit and Luke durbridge finished more than 2 minutes back ex Italian TT Champion mattio saero did better but rit's teammate was still 1 minute 37 seconds a drift Tarling still the darling of NES the time trial world champion Remco evole set off at 3:43 p.m. the arrow bullet w wanted to stamp his authority especially after failing to win the Chrono on parin nor at the tour of the bass country EF education easy post time trial specialist Neilon po powerless showed great form but the American was still powerless to really threaten Tarling second at that stage yet a minute 7 down and inos were starting to Hope Remco Evano 89 of a second behind Tarling at the second check could the Belgian regain his rhythm and strength for the final 10K 42 06 63 well evole has held something back here surely because he is going to smash the time of time 17 seconds he beats Tarling [Music] by 4:14 p.m. in yellow Jersey Derek G the final departure a tough ask for the Canadian to make it a three-way fight those already out on the road trying to limit losses RIT had built up ahead of Steam while the likes of Kos Rodriguez and Juan auso were down by a minute as was mattio Jorgenson yet the parin winner paired with the struggles of teammate sepkus will likely be vima's soulle doofan leader Jorgenson crossed the line in Virtual third but the American was soon nudged off the podium by rugit yet the sloven was 39 seconds from rival Remco and as G approached the line everyone aware the Canadian would be very soon out of yellow this is a respectable time trial by the leader of the Doan a a mammoth effort from Evan pole especially over the latter part of the course 17 seconds quicker than Tarling it's been some Journey to this moment since his Basque crash nearly 3 weeks of no bike and only four weeks of training an ominous sign for his rivals proving exactly why he wears the rainbow TT Jersey the arrow bullet saw only two within a minute of his his time Tarling in second with rugit limiting the damage with a Podium position the cream of the crop Rises to the top Remco swapping colorful Jersey for yellow rogl 33 seconds back Jorgenson up two places with G slipping to Fourth Rish did manage to take ownership of the green jersey only eight points separate the top seven positions no change as Mattis Lear is still doing the poker dots a shakeup save for stage five the youthful assassin Remco leading the under 26 category fsma Jorgenson will wear his white jersey for him on the 167 km stage five tomorrow the race heads for S PR with a hilly first section There's an opportunity for any brave souls looking to attack without a stable of sprinters some teams may be happy to let a breakaway go the GC contenders may take it easy we'll wait to see
