We have some breaking news literally just into our newsroom that we want to pass along to you. The University of South Carolina women's basketball team has provided an update since the recent arrest of their player, Ashly Watkins. We reached out regarding specific questions about her status with the team and the assistant athletic director says, quote, the policy for any student athlete who has been arrested is that he or she is suspended from the team and all activities while the situation is being investigated. And a warrant reveals that Watkins was arrested on Saturday and charged with assault and kidnapping. The warrant says the incident happened at 650 Lincoln Street, a student housing center. We asked for the incident report today and it reveals the alleged victim went into the apartments to visit friends including Watkins and at some point, the victim and Watkins got into an argument. Watkins was granted a $30,000 pr bond. She is due back in court on October 25th. We will make sure to keep you updated as the story develops.
