what's going on everyone Chris from piic dogs.com here with your free pick in the Arizona Diamondbacks versus New York Mets Major League Baseball matchup going down Thursday August 29th 2024 just a reminder if you haven't already make sure you subscribe to our Channel and smash that thumbs up and if you're looking for my Best Bets the games that I love including my daily $19 best bet head on over to pick dogs.com and click the premium picks tab at the top of the page but let's get to this one between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the New York Mets the Arizona Diamondbacks sending out Ryan Nelson for the start in this one while the Mets will counter with David Peterson two starters here that are in great form the Diamondbacks have won eight of Nelson's last nine starts Peterson the Mets are 12 and three in his 15 starts this season so I think you're really splitting hairs in terms of starting pitching here in in you know some angles Nelson like I say he's just been on quite a role but the thing about Ryan Nelson is that historically and you know even for for a good chunk of this season you can say that Ryan Nelson's struggles for the most part have come at home this season 4.95 erra and 10 starts at Chase Field a 284 opponents batting average and while you know the Arizona Diamondbacks have been better than the Mets against righties the Mets are still decent you know they're they're above League average actually they're they're in the top 10 team Ops against righties in the last two weeks uh hitting 253 the isolated power numbers are third best in baseball so I think they can do some damage here against Ryan Nelson who I said still has those those weak numbers at home and had still given up a home run in each of his last three starts despite a strong run of form on the other side you got David Peterson who like I said the Mets have just been winning a ton of his starts uh 12 and three the Mets are in his 15 starts the season as a team and Peterson has been doing a great job in the month of August putting his team in a spot to to win whenever he has been on the mound four- one in his five starts across the five outings spanning 31 and two thirs innings of work Peterson is just a 1.71 erra you know the my concern for the Mets has been the bullpen for the longest time but it's still around League average in terms of Bullpen RA in the last two weeks a 3.46 erra and what we saw from the Diamondbacks earlier in this series against another Lefty and Shawn manah they really struggled and in the last two weeks against lefties the Arizona Diamondbacks are actually you know bottom five in baseball in terms of batting average they're hitting just uh just 209 against uh left-handed pitching the team Ops numbers are a little bit better but they're still bottom 10 now the isolated power numbers yeah they're not very good either below League average so for me while I've been riding the Diamondbacks for the better part of the second half of the season they are still the hottest team in baseball over the course of the second half of the season I think the reality is that they're not going to win every single game and right now I'm just not loving the the form that they're in against left-handed pitching so I'm going to take the New York Mets on the road in this one and that's going to be my free pick but just a reminder if you haven't already make sure you're subscribed to our Channel and smash that thumbs up and if you're looking for my Best Bets you can find those are pick dogs premium why are your pick dogs check out our betting tools they're 100% free they're the best betting tools in the business and tools that you want to make sure that you have in your back pocket when you're making your Best Bets for the day's action thanks for watching see you guys soon
