Unofficial Depth Chart Revelations

what's up everyone the 49ers have had some interesting developments come out and one of those is when they release their unofficial depb chart that's done by their media and every single time you get some interesting looks at you know who's kind of in the pecking order and who's where and we've had some question marks about several positions for the 49ers about who was going to start and who's going to be listed as starters and we got some Revelations when it came to the unofficial depth chart now these are not 100% accurate a lot of times things will change Kyle shanan and maybe the coaching staff see it a little bit different than uh the media and those kind of hanging around and looking at the team and trying to read the Tea Leaves of what's going to happen but sometimes it gives us some good Clarity on what is to be expected and I think we got to start first with linebacker and we know that D winers has been dealing with the ankle injury and that has put a damper on what could have been a tremendous opportunity for a young player to step into a starting lineup and play as a Sam backer next to Fred Warner and DeAndre Campbell but he got hurt in the last preseason game and that ankle injury has not voted well he has not been practicing so so far now could he come back on Thursday and change everything up he could and then the question mark after that about D wers about who was going to play at linebacker came down to Curtis Robinson who had a tremendous training camp and a really good preseason and Demetrius Flanigan FS FS dealt with a lot of injuries during the training camp period he did play in the preseason the last two games and when it came to pass coverage he looked pretty good that's what Demetrius fing against fouls does he looks good when it comes to pass coverage when it came to stopping the run it was ineffective to say the least it just wasn't very good but we do know that the 49ers feel comfortable with the dff they like having Demetrius Flanigan fouls on this team they made him a priority signing him during the offseason and bringing him back and they had a hole at s backer and I'm sure they were hoping one of these young players was going to step in and take over but now it appears according to this unofficial depth chart that Demetrius Fanning and fouls is the leader in the clubhouse to start at s backer so that means when the 49ers have to go to their base 43 sets which is about 20 to 25% of the time the way that the NFL has moved so much to 11 personnel which is three wide receivers on the field uh they like putting sub packages which is nickel that's a 425 in that situation Demetrius fate fouls comes off the field the forers play two linebackers which would be Fred Warner and DeAndre Campbell Campbell playing in the will linebacker role which is normally for Dr Greenlaw so planing at fouls is now looking like he's going to start and that could be something that the Jets look to attack and I talked about this a little bit in my 49 vers Jets first look is who that linebacker was was probably going to dictate a lot about how uh the the Jets look to attack the 49ers because we seen a trend from other teams looking to attack the 49ers you look at what happened in the NFC Championship Game Detroit went at Orin Burks and they win at him a lot uh they also win at our young safeties running the football and getting out on the edge those were things they did now we're feeling pretty comfortable about Jer Brown now but that's what they did but they attacked that sand backer and then when Dr greenw went down in the Super Bowl and they had to step in with Orin Burks they attacked Orin Burks and they lit him up so the 49ers linebackers is something that needs to make sure it's taken care of and dff looks like he's going to be the guy at Sand backer that's something to Monitor and that's a matchup that I'm sure the Jets are going to look to take advantage of with Breeze Hall and if I'm the the Jets I'm finding situations where I can run a dff I know he's a samean backer I know he's going to line up on the strong side uh so when I line up in my you know my Personnel grouping I want to run at him of course you're going to have to get a body on Dre green I'm sorry on Fred Warner and DeAndre Campbell but you get a advantage wi going against dff so that's going to be something huge that was a revelation we got from The Unofficial depth chart another revelation we got is one that's more known right this is not something that really uh going to surprise a lot of people but Jacob coing was listed as the starting punt returner kind of echoing the fact that we knew already he had earned this job he looked so good against the Saints in the preseason squaring up every football knowing when to fair catch letting footballs go over his head just make the right choices and that made the 4 yards feel more confident so what did they do in the third preseason game they let Jacob coing handle it again and guess what Flawless again so coing overtook Trent Taylor and that's great news for the 49ers because Trent Taylor is not even on the 4 yards active roster and the only other guy that really handles punt returns at the wide receiver position is Ronnie Bell and it has not looked good for Ronnie Bell over the last uh couple years so corers needed Jacob Co to step on the scene and he has done a very good job and I think we feel pretty confident plus he has the ability to catch the ball and be able to get extra yards he's a guy that can actually have some whole shot Big Time Returns the first time we have a playmaker and a game breaker at punt return since probably Ted genin early in the 2010s for the hardball era so this is great news for the 49ers now there's a lot of pressure on a young rookie to be able to get it done uh but it's good news for the 49ers they have other players they need to elevate them the practice squad they're probably going to have to you know elevate a defensive end kuu to play because Tor gr Matos hasn't returned to practice yet so they can't be using it on a Trent Taylor just to handle punt returns so it's good that Jacob cowing has stepped into this role and we'll see how he does securing catches and making sure that he's getting it done uh because it gives the 4 yards a little bit more flexibility and a little bit more of a dynamic ability from that spot not just ay that secures it like Trent Taylor doesn't get any yards Mr fair catch I I like secure punt returns I do I would love getting a little bit of yardage when you have space to do so and I think that Jacob coing can do that so I'm excited about coing officially unofficially according to this depth chart uh taking that punt return roll over now another surprising one and it caught a lot of people off guard maybe not me so much uh but was the fact that Isaac gendo is not the starting kick returner according to this unofficial dep chart but it's actually Jordan Mason and of course if you've been on the channel for a while I talked about the fact that Jordan Mason was a guy that I really liked uh returning kicks because it was going to be more of a run play when you're looking at the new Dynamic kickoff and how it's designed and they've talked extensively about how it's going to be like an outside Zone play so getting a guy a running back that feels comfortable within it makes sense now why would the 49ers have Jordan Mason listed over a guy like Isaac Ren that just had a 93 yard kick return well here's part of the reason number one Isaac gendo is dealing with a little bit of a groin issue now he's been working out on the side field hasn't been uh you know practicing so there's no Clarity on if he's going to be ready for week one that's number one number two when you have a certain amount of players that you can have active for game day yes you have a 53 man roster but that's not how many you can have active for game day you can have 47 so they need to make sure that they have the right guys available uh to play on game day and a lot of times your fourth running back and I think Isaac Reno is for behind Patrick Taylor for this reason Patrick Taylor plays a lot on special teams and a lot of different Avenues so he can help you a little bit more than gendo gendo's kick returnability will get him on the field if he's healthy but you don't have four running backs active on game day you have three so gendo will probably not be active early on especially when he's trying to recover from the groin groin injury and let's see what Jordan Mason does uh maybe Jordan Mason's going to have some opportunities to get some good kick returns I would love to see gendo for the mere fact that I would love to see gendo and Jordan Mason together uh get two big physical running backs back there together that's why before Elijah Mitchell got hurt i' I kind of thrown that idea out there Elijah Mitchell Jordan Mason and let them hand handle it I do think at times you're going to see Debo Samuel back there so the 49ers are not going to let that cat out of the bag yet uh but that's exciting 49ers get a couple of guys like this back there so uh we've got some interesting news there kick return punt return and also dff another thing that was interesting on this depth chart was that Isaac yedam was listed as as defensive back number three or cornerback three that wasn't a shock right you had yor listed as the the number two outside corner and the number one nickl corner so that doesn't surprise anyone for are sticking with what they did last year yam is number three and then Rock Yen listed as number four so rock Yen's uh great play in training camp in the preseason have given him an opportunity now to get some chances to get out there and play so four y feel comfortable those four that means your fifth corner is Renardo green and Renardo green had a great training camp in preseason but imagine a young guy getting time to develop that's great he's also going to be nickel Corner number two so when it comes to being a backup he's number two when it comes to Nickel Corner if they need him so 49ers got a really good cornerback room darell lutter Jr is number six in the cornerback room but that's how it's listed when you look at safety right now taleno huanga is listed as the starting safety according to this unofficial depth chart we don't have Clarity on if he's going to play in week one we'll probably get more clarity as this week week goes on when we get to hear from Kyle Shanahan and also when we hear the injury designations for the week uh if he's listed as doubtful of course we know that means he probably won't play but we'll see it's probably going to be a progression and we'll see where he's at if he's also engaging in team practice this week that would put him on the right track and trajectory to potentially be able to play other than that no crazy surprises everything else kind of made sense but these were some things that you picked up from The Unofficial dep chart for the San Francisco 49ers and we're trending right towards this New York Jets game very exciting times around the 49ers with everyone getting back and everyone getting back to practice uh it's a lot of fun so please like And subscribe to the channel if you haven't already I really appreciate it and of course uh more content coming your way I'll catch you guys in the next one until then stay safe remember the right way is always the 49ers way for
