on a late August night we get a rare oncampus Showdown to kick off the college football season as the 20th ranked Texas A&M maggies welcome the seventh ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish to Kyle Field and College Station this is a highly anticipated opener for both these teams for Texas A&M the Aggies begin year one under head coach Mike El with a lot of optimism they figure to be led by a strong defensive line headlined by Purdue transfer Nick scorton who's one of the best Edge rushers in the entire country that group up front will try to get after the Notre Dame offense and force the Irish to playoff schedule meanwhile for Notre Dame the Irish begin year three under head coach Marcus Freeman with playoff aspirations the Irish figure to have a salty defense and it's one that features an excellent defensive line of their own on the other side of the ball Riley Leonard Mike elco's former quarterback at Duke takes over under center for the Irish but the Irish do have very real questions along their offensive line where they will start an in experienced group that has only six combined career starts how that group deals with the crowd noise and this talented A&M defensive front could go a long way in determining the outcome of this game the agies are a slight home favorite but the Irish don't really feel like your typical Underdog this one should have all all you can ask for in an early season Showdown we'll find out whether the Irish can rise to the challenge in front of this hostile crowd or if Texas A&M can feed off their fans and make an early season statement Saturday night on ABC
