in UK's SEC opener the big blue wall was blown apart and South Carolina's defensive line was the demolition team Brock Vander was sacked four times and only completed three passes and the offense was unable to score a single touchdown in the school's worst home loss to an unranked opponent since 2015 there's no way to sugarcoat it we got we got our butts beat they clearly affected the quarterback and that's a good job by them you know and and and not good enough by us so I wouldn't put it on him personally but I would credit them they certainly disrupted uh him and and his comfort level and uh that's what you're looking for on defense defensively the Gamecock picked Kentucky apart through the air as Lenora sers threw 11 of 15 passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns again in in every win and every loss there are some you know some things you can take away but the the bottom line and it just goes back there were plays that needed to be made in crucial moments the only silver lining in UK's offense was running back Demi Sumo Combe who ran 73 yards on 17 carries helping the cats reach the two field goals to show for the day yeah Demi is a guy that that again he's been very steady he's he's he he works hard he he ran uh the ball very tough today and had some tough yards so um I think we were efficient at time running the ball down downhill but um we have to get the balance that I talked about every everything is is a work in progress and we certainly got to have uh you know our our hearts open and self assessment for all of us again you're going to hear me say it over and over again it starts with me and so we got to put those guys in better situations uh we got to take the next step this week and get ready to play Mark Stop's message to his team after a loss like this was we have to respond we need to respond and we will respond but that's going to be really hard with the number one team in the country on its way to Lexington next Saturday at 7:30 p.m. reporting from Lexington for WMT Mountain Sports I'm Armando Barry
