Let's uh say good morning to Laura Robson former British number one Junior Wimbledon champion reached the fourth round at Wimbledon and the US Open and picked up a silver medal with sir Andy at London 2012 morning Laura what are your abiding memories of that particular run morning it feels like a lifetime ago honestly it feels like a different life for me um compared to what I'm doing now and then the fact that Andy's still in it um you know as as the fifth time Olympian just tells you so much about him um but yeah I think it's still one of the best weeks of my life to be honest it was electric support everyone who was a part of it still talks about it as having the best energy um from the side of a tennis court that you've you've ever felt so um yeah for me it's definitely one of my career highlights so um I reminisce it all all in good fashion yeah um what was he like as a partner because obviously when he when he was on court by himself he could get quite grumpy if you and his box you would um you would have a few stairs and maybe a few other things directed at you how how good was he to play with in a Double's environment the complete opposite it was it was a joy um no we played together a couple of times beforehand so I knew what to expect and I knew you know going in that he was going to be full on that he wanted to take it as seriously as possible because he wanted to win another medal for team GB so that was always our aspiration at the start of the week that if we're going to play we want to try and win the whole thing and we came so close in the end um that everything for him that whole week was about being part of a bigger thing so being part of teamgb getting on the the medal board for them um and so it gave us a bit more of a purpose but um yeah he was he was very kind to me didn't didn't give me grief when I double faulted which was more than I should have um and just someone great to learn from you know I went and had one of the best weeks in my career at US Open a few weeks after and I think is because he really showed you how to be be a professional out there how to have the big moments come at you and and not get as nervous and not um you know handle them in in a difficult way so yeah he's Tau me a lot and I'm sure he's still doing that for the guys this week in Paris Laura um great to have you on a question once Andy's gone um what is the future of of British tennis obviously I'm a big Emma fan before obviously all the injuries we watched you know that US Open win and we all thought right this is somebody special breaking into the to the female game um you got on the men's side obviously um as a draper would be caritos uh you know in Queens Su you know is British tennis in good shape are they can any of those players have the career that Andy Murray had or was he just the oneof well so few people in the world have had the career that Andy Murray has had so I think it it says more about him than the state of British tennis that we were just so lucky to have him for as long as we have and um you know I I definitely would put jack japer as the one to watch everyone's been talking about him for years and years it feels like and now that his body is holding together a bit more and um you know he's got a huge weapon in his game with his Serv as forehand uh but believes a lot more because he he's not breaking down physically um yeah I'm sure we'll see him start to put together some huge results over the next 18 months but um you know we were we were very very lucky to have Andy weren't we and it's it's tough to think of anyone doing those kind of numbers and those kind of achievements um at least for a good few years you don't think Emma will bounce back and win other Grand Slams or you think her body is getting in the way physically from the injuries and obviously I think you had issues in your career with that what what do you think's gone wrong for that kid since she burst onto the scene wow I would love to for things to go as wrong as they have for her because she's one a slam so um no one can never take that away from her and um no I think she's definitely got another chance to to win one we see how open the women's game is on certain surfaces um Clay is a more difficult Prospect with eish fanch being so dominant but we saw how open Wimbledon was um you know on grass which is a surface that she really enjoys so um I can definitely see it coming together for for Emma over the next few years and it's just as you said if her body holds up which she's putting the work in at the moment she's uh putting a huge training Block in where when everyone else is in Paris over the next few weeks so that she's ready for the hard cour yeah well there were definite signs at Wimbledon that she's starting to get it back together as far as Andy's concerned all good things have to come to an end the Olympics is going to be it but presumably he's going to stay in the sport in in some fashion what's your hunch as to what he will do next oh I hope so I think he would be a great coach um he's he's got so much experience you can learn from him through through everything that he's done throughout his career um so i' would love to still see him involved um I'm going out to Paris tomorrow so we've got an interview with him on Discovery plus tomorrow night um so I'll maybe ask him because it's a huge interest for me as well I would love to see him as Davis Captain i' would love to see him working with Jack and I'm sure he wants some sort of role with the younger players as well the under 14s under 16s in those really key stages of development that's where he would have just a plethora of of experience and and knowledge to share so yeah and I think he just loves tennis so much that he could never give it up entirely so I would expect to still see him involved somehow yeah his his passion for the sport is obvious and hopefully he can he can maybe go out with a medal I know it's asking an awful lot but Laura thanks so much indeed for joining us and and have fun in your television role for Discovery out in Paris thank you I can't wait talk sport drive with Andy gold gold steam Monday to Friday afternoon from 4: on a. on da via the talk sport app and on your smart speaker talk sport
