e all right in Titus Chapter number two if you remember we have been studying in out of about eight weeks ago we studied started studying about the trying of the spirits and I hope maybe that the Lord has put some things together or maybe um reminded us of our responsibility of how that we have to um get to the place of uh of uh understanding shall we say more of what we should do and need to do and when we do that if we do that it helps us along the way so we um started off before that if you remember about walking in the spirit and then uh Not In the Flesh and then from that we came into the the spirit trying of the spirits tonight I want to go a little bit different but very similar and maybe kind of a something that connects it all together sometimes we have um it's been a long time since I was in school and uh I can hardly remember some things in school and some things are just as clear as it was yesterday but I do remember when I had had and had had to have a bad teacher one that just didn't teach worth a hoot whatever hoot is but and then I remember some though that would U they could just take things and make it so simple I remember Miss Shackleford over at troop high school and she was um she she's the one that started breaking me and uh she changed me from Sammy to Sam she said it's time for you to grow up quit that giggling and all I said okay yes ma'am I was thinking don't send me to the office don't send me the office and she didn't but anyway I respected her and the way she Tau and uh though algebra was kind of hard for me I'm kind of like Chris Chris told me one time he said dad I looked in my billfold a a single X or a y in there he said why we got to learn about x's and y's I well you know you I don't know how to answer that hardly but the truth is that uh she was able to get it in my my head uh the way that the equations worked and help me and I I never forgot her for that in the scriptures I I guess you're that way but with me when I'm studying the Bible and I'm reading in and a certain writer say shall we say John or maybe Luke Paul whoever it's kind of like when you read the word you're kind of though it's inspired of the lord it's kind of like listening to different preachers and they project a certain um style or way that they teach and and God's word is always correct regardless of who's teaching it you know that but in this scripture here Paul which was probably the greatest teacher per se of all of them for was a pure teacher he was uh one that uh just had so much understanding of what God had for the Gentiles which is us and so when we read in um Titus in chapter number one we find where the scriptures start laying out qualifications for the leaders Pastor if you will and when it starts talking about that it starts talking about the requirements and such and such and then it comes into chapter number two and starts detailing what and how that preacher teaches and preaches so let's read it in verse one of chapter 2 but speak thou the things which become sound doctrine that the age men be sober great temperate sound in faith in charity in patience the age women likewise that they be in Behavior as becometh Holiness not false accusers not given to much wine teachers of good things that they may teach the young women to be sober to love their husbands to love their children to be discreet chased keepers at home home good obedient to their own husbands that the word of God be not blasphemed young men likewise exhort to be sober minded in all things showing thyself a pattern of Good Works in Doctrine showing uncorrupt this gravity sincerity sound speech that cannot be condemned that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed having no evil thing to say of you exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters and to please them well in all things not answering again not pering but showing all good Fidelity that they may Adorn the doctrine of God our savior in all things now listen carefully for the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath prepared to all men teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lust we should live soberly righteously and godly in this present world looking for that blessed hope and the Glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto himself a peculiar people zealous of good works these things speak and exhort and rebuke with all authority let no man despise Thee I want to speak to you tonight on the subject of the spirit again but the the spirit of the teacher the spirit of the teacher or the pastor in this particular um comments here that the lord gave us you know we can have the wrong Spirit about it you can say the truth but as Ephesians says we to speak the truth in love we are to speak according to sound Doctrine and when we look at this the script scripture says that in verse number 11 again for the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men teaching us that teaching us the grace of God teaches us what is the grace of God well it's could be interpreted in many ways it could be the grace that keeps you going so to speak the encouragement could be the word of God incorporating that at least it could be the church and it is all these things but I think that more than anything first John also tells us about that we need not that any man teach us for we have him on the inside I think it's chapter two I believe it is anyway it's in there what I'm saying is is that it can't get any better than him that is abiding in US it can't get any better than he that's living in us as a Christian we understand that that Paul is telling Titus here to go out into cre and set some things in order in other words he was uh clarifying some things fixing some things that was obviously not in order and that needed to be in order you see the church other things in the world can operate out of order but the church cannot operate right out of order it has to be in order it has to be in a situation where that the church is right in every aspect and the Lord has taught us verse 12 teaching us I'm glad we have the teacher on the inside thank God the Bible said when he has come what is he going to do he's going to teach us he's going to tell us all things that he's heard so when we look at this we understand that part of the learning and the process that comes with the grace of God is the teaching that comes with it not all of it comes from like me here or someone else to you or to us not all of it comes straight from the scripture only just reading but it comes through the gu and the leading of uh our lives by the Holy Spirit which is still teaching Us in the process someone asked me recently said how do you know and how did you get to the place where you're at spiritually and I simply told them by studying and praying but by years and years and years of doing that you don't have full knowledge of something at the beginning of it though you may have some information no wisdom excuse me again so it takes time some things you can jump over maybe but some things can only be learned by time and just like learning in school we have first grade which is beginner sort of in seconds a little more and a little more to keep piling on until at the end we are having many many things to learn that we could not have learned down in the first grade and so someone got together and and programmed this and got it in a levels that we can do that that's what the Holy Ghost is doing he'll never lead you beyond what you can comprehend never give you more than you can handle but with every trial or temptation there's a way of Escape is what your book says so we look at that we understand in Chapter 2 and verse number one that it must have and he starts off talking to Titus by saying but speak thou the things which become sound Doctrine why is that because sound doctrine that know the truth and the truth shall set you free and by the way when the Holy Ghost that's teaching Us in verse 12 of he only uses truth he don't use a partial truth he don't use a Hal truth but he uses a whole truth to work with us so it's no good to learn anything but the truth and so we need to make sure that it's sound doctrine that we're teaching and the spirit is going to harmonize with that or in other words match up with it the Bible then tells us in that chapter two that it's good to for the whole family I want you to notice what the scripture said verse number two he said the men he said that the Aged men may be sober it don't just mean sober not drunk from but it means sober minded it means uh being uh aware of things it means Discerning things it means maturing things aware of what's going around you grave temperate sound in faith in charity in patience he said I want the men to get this Doctrine I want them to get it and they get it from you teaching that and the Holy Ghost is going to be teaching them what you're teaching them and when you do that two in the Bible is a witness of the truth and so you find that that he said the men the Aged men the older men verse number three there's the women the aged women likewise that they be in Behavior as becoming Holiness not doing what they think ought to be not doing what the world says they ought to be but becometh Holiness what is Holiness it's godliness in our lives living for him because he is Holy be holy sayith the Lord not false accusers not given to much wine I thought that was kind of U odd in a way way the way it's put in with the women and not the men cuz it seems like a it used to be especially years ago the men were the drinkers and the women W nowadays it's different just about everybody drinks but it's not right with God nor the Bible said it's supposed to be those that uh given to much wine meaning that they are not to take part in wine and things that will influence them shall we say in other words again to them to be sober minded clear in their thinking and then it said verse three teachers of good things a woman should be teaching good thing not the bad things we're in a day where women have uh come out so to speak and to have a voice and women are not second rate people none of that kind of I never have believed none of that and they're not people that don't know they're not ignorant they're smart as a whip but I'm saying there is a there is a place in the perfect will of God where God places a man and God places the woman and God places the children now you can say well that's oldfashioned well you don't find it updated anywhere this is the New Testament and it continues what was going on in the Old Testament and then verse four said also they live like that that they may teach the young women to be sober to love their husbands to love their children mamas ought to be teaching the young women to live for God to live holy over the years I've seen women that wanted to dress their young women their young daughters in a inappropriate Manner and they told said well it's that's the style but we're not concerned with the style of the world we should be concerned with Holiness and the scripture says that they are to teach the young women the old men the old women and then are the young women to be sober to love their husband to love their children to be discreet Chase keepers at home good obedient to their own husbands that the word of God be not blasphemed or in other words they are to be living simply a Christian Life a Christian Life is a holy life a Christian Life is a clean life and he said that reason for that in all these cases verse number five latter part that the word of God God be not blasphemed we are his children we are representing him the scripture says we are uh walking Epistles read of every man we represent him by who we are so when we don't live holy and represent and teach oursel Holiness and Living Clean we bring shame on him and then it comes down it says young men likewise exhort to be sober minded that word sober just keeps coming it's not talking about just talking about drinking again that's what we think of it is mostly when we think about sober but it means like get your head out of the telephone get your head out of the world get your head out of what Society wants I couldn't care less what the style is couldn't care less what other things are I want to live for the Lord and I want my children living for the Lord and therefore I tried to teach them to do the same and the young men to be sober minded in other words young men ought to be able to say I know why we shouldn't vote for so and so and we should vote for this but we're in a society today where the young people they're almost total dummies so to speak they have listened to so much stuff on tele telones and computers and television and everything else they don't have any idea of what's right and what's wrong you see all that stuff's going to be coming at them like it does at us why do you think that you know how to say no to stuff and you know how to vote in the right way to help our society it's because of what you have put in you and because that somebody has taught you and the Holy Ghost has taught you and the Bible says that clearly it's real refreshing every once in a while to see a young person that's got a conviction in the right way you hardly ever see that anymore but it's absolutely needed in our day if we think by the way that this Society we're in now is bad wait till the next Generation starts taking over you're going to see it even worse brother Bill you're going to see a lot more worse workers verse number seven and all things showing thyself a pattern of good Works in Doctrine showing uncorrupt gravity sincerity sound speech that cannot be condemned that he that is of the contrary may be ashamed having no evil thing to say of you a pattern what is a pattern I remember one time when I was starting to work for yansy construction company up here and I was the number one man there with uh helper they called it and I was working with a carpenter I think I made 45 cents an hour I was well paid but we had to cut several uh tues and we had to cut them all the same so made a pattern on one and when we made the pattern he just marked it and cut it and then we started cutting and I picked up the one that and he wrote pattern on the one brother Mitch the first one the original one and he he said don't ever use the second or third one always use the first one if it's the pattern it has to remain the pattern and here's why because when you cut one it's going to be off a teeny teeny teeny bit it just always is and if you keep cutting and getting new patterns to Mark by before you cut you're going to end up maybe that far off and I've seen that before you have to have a correct pattern same would apply making a dress or something I've never made a dress obviously but and uh but you got to have a pattern if you don't then you have no Baseline to work from that's always right and he said make yourselves thyself a pattern of what good works so that somebody could look at you and say hey come over here and let me check this out because you seem to be a pattern of good works the question is are we a pattern of good works or one that is living according to what we're being taught by the Holy Ghost and taught by the Bible or are we have we already modified a little bit and got a little bit uh lazy and we're not using the same pattern anymore that's why I say it's dangerous to change this Bible out to some new version that has left out some things in it because it every time you change it it becomes something different but the Bible says and he said that the reason is that that way that the people that see you will not be able to talk against you you because you've deviated or compromised as we used to say from the truth they won't have any evil to say about you and then it goes down verse number nine and even pulls in the servants the ones that were working with them and for them and around them unto their masters and to please them in all things not answering again servants even to be obedient not peror are putting it off but tell them everything tell them the truth verse 10 but sh in all good Fidelity that they may Adorn the doctrine of God our savior in all things you see how does this tie into trying the spirits if you don't try the spirits you don't have the proper Doctrine to begin with you don't have the proper Spirit guiding you to begin with and you may be pulled by or led by some other spirit because many false prophets are gone out into the world folks you know that well as I do but the scripture says but we got it covered verse 11 for the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men and verse number 12 now think about what this is what is it about this teacher that we have that is so good he's got the same lesson for every one of us we're we're not any one of us can say well we don't have to do that we can skip that we can change that no no no the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men he said in that very first word for remember chapter 2 verse 1 down through verse 10 tells us some things we do and should be like and all for verse 12 the grace of God that bringeth salvation appeared to all men what does it do verse 12 teaching us aren't you glad that we have a teacher on the inside of you thank God folks I'm glad we don't have what if it was just left up to everybody you know you realize what kind of a mess it's in even with the word of God that's pure and rigid and don't change what would it be if we didn't have a common Spirit of teaching amongst us but we do and the scripture says that and the Bible said teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lust we should live soberly righteously and godly in this present world is that not the same thing that Paul just told Titus to do same identical thing who's teaching it now Titus Paul was teaching it here but here it's the Holy Ghost in verse 12 teaching the same identical thing that's what I want you to see the teaching of God always is handshakes with the Holy Ghost and when it doesn't there's no handshake there is no Harmony and it does not work look at verse number 13 the Bible teaches us that he never teaches us without reminding us of what we have in him just look at it he said in verse 12 that we're to deny and godliness and so forth that's going on in this present world but verse 13 what he said don't look at the world he said look looking unto Jesus or looking for that blessed hope and the Glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ he said you can look at this world and you'll see all of this unrighteousness and ungodliness and all other teachings and wrongs and rights of every manner but he said look up we're looking higher than that we're not looking to the world we have the teacher on the inside that blessed hope that's in US keeps us going then verse 14 he CL declares again I love the way that the Holy Ghost never forgets or misses a place to brag on Jesus who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity purify to himself a peculiar people zealous of Good Works he said it cost him something cost him something for that curriculum so to speak that we use that teaching that's on the inside it cost him something it came with a price when you go to school you have to you have to pay for that schooling someone paid for what he's schooling us and and it was him who gave himself for us and he did it because he loved us and he tells us in a most precious way let's read it again verse 14 who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity that's what he took us out of and purify unto him himself a peculiar people zealous of good works somebody say You're A peculiar Rascal thank you very much if it's for the right reason we're supposed to be peculiar what does that mean it means not rolling with the flow it means we're different we're supposed to be different and people today are trying to say and preachers are trying to dress like the world to preach and Lord of the standards put it on their website come as you are all of that's for the purpose of being UNP peculiar but we are not we are peculiar people we believe that we ought to look right talk right dress right act right teach right because that's what he's teaching us inside but look what he said purify un himself a peculiar people zealous of good works but notice the two words unto himself he did all of that the price that just said he gave himself for us so that he could make us like him and have a people that he has and says they are peculiar they're different from the world I'm glad thank God that God's able to satisfy our longings and make something out of us without us having to go to Hollywood or having to go to the world or anything God can change us in a good way and the Bible said or teaches us here that's what it means to us so why should we try the spirits because we want to make sure that we're in harmony with the doctrines the word of God and these things verse number 15 he says these words these things speak and exhort and rebuke even with all authority that no man despise thee or argue with you he said with all authority this is not a my opinion people sometime will say well that's your opinion no this is not even an opinion as a matter of fact this is what God Said is the way it is that's not an opinion because opinions are open for anybody to have this is not an opinion this is what God said it is and he said they did that and he said every everything all these things you do do it with all authority you don't have to make excuses you don't have to apologize to anyone you just do it and you do it without a red face you don't you don't act like other people do that live in the world but you don't have to apologize and duck down and say I don't act like that you know say I don't and you do it with a humble heart at the same time why because he has made us peculiar and he said be be be proud of that be thankful for that because he did it for us the spirit of a teacher of the teacher the teacher will always teach this book these doctrines and nothing else let's stand together we see this we understand that everything we've studied we we're studying about walking in the spirit that's talking about living for the Lord we're studying about trying the spirit that so we could live for the Lord and that's what this is all about and always is about if you want Harmony in your life you have got to be you have got to get to the place where you realize that this will never please the world the world will never say amen I love that old book matter of fact they hate this old book They're not interested in this old book The sad thing is a lot of so-called Christians not interest in it they don't never pick it up and read it or know what it says but the teaching if you're born again in your heart the teaching of that teacher is going to be teaching from this book I didn't take my third grade arithmetic book to miss Shaker's class because it wouldn't work in her class I had to take her algebra book when I was in her class God give us this book right here and it's enough it's enough and I'm saying to you try the spirits it's beneficial to you it makes you stronger and what does it say that you may be sober gives you a good clear thinking about even things that you don't even know about even things that have nothing to do with the Bible it lets you think clearly because it lets you think clean and holy that you go to the voting stand and vote for the right person not just because one looks better than the other one or something like that no you do it because you got some discernment that you didn't have but the Holy Ghost put it in you through the word may God help us to try the spirits may God help us to listen to the teaching of the internal Spirit precious Lord I love you and thank you tonight for your mercies help us Lord we feel sometime like we're just kids never learned anything but Lord I know you're teaching us every day help us to be strong in the Lord and the power of your might help us Lord to lean on you and help us to live in Authority because of what you've done for us in Jesus name I Love You Lord and praise you for everything amen amen God bless you you're dismissed have a safe journey home tonight
