and a good Tuesday to you a day after digesting Seattle's 2620 win over Denver Coach Mike McDonald met with reporters on Monday despite an overwhelmingly negative way to start the game with a sack and interception and two safeties given up McDonald was particularly proud of his offense and how Gino Smith kept everyone together well there's room for improvement I mean you can't there's no one's going to turn the tape on in the first half and be uh excited about what they saw but to their credit they kept plugging away and I thought the second half the guys played well together there's a couple plays you want back but um on the whole I thought the second half was a great job with those guys responded and um coming back and and playing some good football yeah I mean he's people are going to look to how he's handling those situations and he's the first guy that youed to stand positive and um you just you just felt there was no Panic from from Gino and um he he knew it was going to come around and it's just a matter of time so um I wasn't surprised it's what I expect from Gino it's what we all expect from him but that's that's the type of guy that he is it was McDonald's first win as an NFL head coach and he said he was blown away at the amount of text messages and phone calls offering congratulations people that I have relationships with they really appreciate everybody reaching out congratulating uh our win um and I do the same thing with people around the league that that do a great job that I have relationships with too so you know this this coaching thing is it's a it's a funky fraternity of it's it's smaller than you than you think it's this close nent thing and when you work with great people um you want them to have success you know until you play them but even then it's like a it's like this healthy competitive rivalry where you kind of you have this Mutual understanding where you're trying to you know get each other while you're playing one another but once it's over you you respect the position that people are in that you know it's really really responsibility to go you know try to handle business when you're going against one another but um I really appreciate everybody reaching out that was really cool Seattle takes its one and0 record on the road this Sunday to face the 1-0 New England Patriots kickoff said for 10:00 School is hosting a first of time event called the WAN youth sport spectacular it will be on Wednesday in the Apple Bowl Wan High School principal and athletic director Eric Anderson says it's an effort to show Wan School District youngsters the sports they could eventually play tomorrow evening we are holding our first uh we call the wachi high school Youth Sports spectacular but really from the high school perspective we're just kind of leading this work to kind of bring everybody together and the purpose of tomorrow night is really to connect the youth in our Valley to the organizations that provide youth Athletics and activities um what we saw uh obviously over the pandemic was kind of a reduction in the number of our youth in being involved in things and uh last spring we started talking about what can we do as a system as a school system to really kind of jump start that back up uh and move in a different direction and so we've came up with this idea of bringing together our uh youth organizations and giving them an opportunity to to kind of meet and greet kids and families and hopefully our students or our elementary middle school students find a connection to something in our Valley that they can get involved in and participate in and uh as we know when students are involved in something um their attendance is better their confidence is higher their academic performance is greater and so we want to see a a growth in those numbers in terms of our uh our students involved in these things so that's really kind of the purpose of tomorrow night is really to bring everybody out uh and again we've got about 30 organizations that have signed up to be part of that and they're going to be right here on the Apple bow field and uh again we've got um we've got interpreters uh that are going to be here as well we want to make sure that we don't have a language barrier that uh stops our families and our students from connecting to these organizations and then any of the money that we raise so there is a small cost to the organizations to participate in that and all that money that we bring in we are actually donating to the wachi valley uh Sports Foundation to offset any sort of barriers Financial barriers that that our youth athletes might have in participating in these organization so we're pretty excited about it the Wane booster club will be there to pick up your favorite Panther paraphernalia while the concession stand will be open and grab a bite Anderson Paints the picture for what kids and families will find when they come to the Apple Bowl tomorrow night there's no time frame there is no like schedule we're going to have basically uh our organizations will have tables and Tents set up here on the Apple Bowl um our High School athletic teams are going to be connected to them because again one of the things that we would love to see is a connection between our youth Athletics and our High School athletics uh and again kind of inspiring our youth to be excited about being a a panther a future Panther athlete so here really this is just going to be The Field's going to be full of organizations that are going to have tables tents information we're going to have our band playing uh up in the stadium we've actually got uh cvc's mobile uh Health uh uh truck that's going to be here to help uh offer youth physicals if families want to participate in that so again it's just going to be a live festive environment where we're going to have two hours of just kind of an open meet and greet and get connected uh and we'll we'll go from there it's the first time we're trying this so we'll uh we'll learn from it and we'll we'll continue to get better as we go forward best of all the event the entire event tomorrow night is free free admission there's no cost for anybody I mean again the hope is that we've got I mean I would love to see everyone of our elementary middle school kids with their families out here trying to figure out like what it is that I can be involved in what can I be connected to um we'd love to see that we'd love to see big numbers around that participation well n Sports spectacular runs tomorrow from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the APPA B and again it is free that's a look at sports news I'm Eric granstrom have a good Tuesday
