good morning East Baton rou Parish good morning East Baton rou Parish I wanted to provide an update to our community regarding the impacts of hurricane Francine uh joining me are many of our council members uh legislative assistance to council members and department leaders uh as well as representatives from iny this week we activated our Emergency Operations Center here at the mayor's office of Homeland Security and emergency preparedness where 35 agencies came together to coordinate our response to this storm our operations lasted several days and this morning we are demobilizing our full activation but mup will continue to respond to the aftermath of Francine in coordination with every agency in East Baton Rouge Parish there's still many hazards in our community due to this storm particularly on our roads if you do not need to travel then please stay off the roads overnight 45 trees I am told now fell on our roads and thousands of residents are still without power our department of Maintenance worked overnight and I want to give a big thank you to them because as trees were falling they were clearing them up and they cleared 28 of the trees that I just mentioned from our roads many however are Tangled in power lines and we are working with our power companies to remove those lines we also have 23 traffic signals without power and another nine signals that are flashing please treat these traffic signals like a fourway stop sign we have spoken with iny and dico who tell us that they are working as fast as possible to restore to all of our traffic signals and residents St Vincent depal and Salvation Army are still operating Emergency Shelters we will continue to monitor the power outages and expand shelter capacity if there is a need if you need assist remember to call 311 to report down trees call Intergy or Demco to report power outages call 211 for social services and for all emeres call 911 East Baton rou Parish was largely spared the greatest impacts of this storm and for this we are extremely grateful
