to the more than 10,000 workers that hotels across nine US cities on the picket lines they say Staffing levels have not recovered since the pandemic Cuts Ariel reip is here with more good morning Ariel hey good morning to you Michael hotel workers say they're still suffering from the low wages and high workloads brought on by the pandemic they're demanding a share of record-breaking profits on Sunday more than 10,000 hotel workers from desk clerks to housekeeping walked off the job and this morning even more have joined the picket lines workers at Hyatt Hilton Marriott and Omni in nine cities are now on strike the union that represents the hotel workers says Staffing and service Cuts made during the pandemic have never been restored and that cuts to daily housekeeping and room service have caused more workers to lose income and made their jobs more difficult the union is fighting for higher pay and benefits and hayatt and Hilton both say that they have contingency plans in place to minimize the impact of these strikes on their hotels Hilton says it remains committed to negotiating in good Faith to reach fair and reasonable agreements Marriott did not respond to a request for comment the strikes are expected to last 1 to 3 days in each City Rebecca okay Ariel thank you
