COZY FALL DECOR | 2024 FALL DECORATING IDEAS | PART 1 🍁 DECORATE WITH ME | FALL FAIRYTALE THEME

[Music] hello welcome to my home for fall I look forward to this time of year all year and even more so now that I share it here with you on YouTube it just makes it that much more special so I'm happy to be here with you today and we are decorating the living room my living area for fall we are starting today above the fireplace this is usually the focal point of the room each season and I wanted to do something Whimsical and fun up here that would go with my theme this Autumn and really catch the eye when people walked into into the space you're probably thinking like fall is fall pumpkins orange leaves yes I am a traditionalist and that's typically the theme but I like to go deeper you know I love to decorate and by love I mean I'm obsessed with it and by obsessed with it I mean it's probably my whole personality but I always like to theme my Decor in some way shape or form I just think it makes it really fun I enjoy the process a lot more when I do that I never know what my theme is going to be I just kind of let it evolve this year I knew for a fact that I was going to use the balam hill fairy tale foliage collection inside my home I used the reads on my front doors last year and I love them so much that I got the garland that matches them this year I knew I wanted that to be a big focal point of my design this season and I started looking at it and thinking okay wait fairy tale pumpkins fairy tale foliage it's very romantic and I thought you know what I think my theme should be a fall fairy tale I had asked people to uh guess over on my Instagram stories a while back and so many of you guessed right um and so many of you were so so close I started having all these ideas so I decided to go to Half Price Books and grab a couple of inexpensive vintage books I found a couple for about $5 the cin minist in me could not rip apart one of my own books my vintage book collection has all been collected from family they're either family heirlooms from my great-grandfather my grandfather or people that I love have gifted me books over the years I get asked from time to time where I get vintage books so I don't have like the best resources on where to get like first editions or anything cool like that but Half Price Books is always a really great option if you want to start a collection like that or if you just want to incorporate books into your Decor especially vintage books they have some great options but anyway I went to Half Price Books to find books that I could deconstruct for these projects and the second I walked in the door and went to the vintage book section this was right there like this is the first thing I saw it's this collection of books called book Trails they were printed in the late 1920s and they are full of fairy tales and stories from our childhood Tall Tales fairy tales Legends lullab children's stories all kinds of really cool stuff so of course I bought these and they were a really good deal because I got six of them and they were two for $5 so I thought that was the find of the entury and the pictures in them I've got to show you are so cool there's a lot of pictures in here I could use but like aren't these like so fairy tale esque I'll show you the one that I'm going to use today I think this one with the Knight how cool is this of course I love these a little too much to rip apart so I got a couple of other $5 books to uh use in my projects but I thought these would be really really neat to incorporate into the design this year and I have some good ideas so but like look at the front of these of course they were only I think they were so inexpensive cuz they are a little worn but I don't care like the more worn the better right you can see the covers two Enchanted lands I mean nothing could be more perfect okay I just think they're really pretty though there's like the story of Rumple stilt skin in here which I consider a fairy tale things like that I had already decided on the fairy tale theme and I felt like like this was just serendipitous you know but for the mantle I went with this particular book I found it had some really cool illustrations in it that I think are very fairy tale esque so I will be incorporating a few of those pages up here as well my method of attaching the pages to the wall is pretty simple I knew I wanted the pages to look as if they were trailing from one end of the mantle behind the mirror and up towards the ceiling again for that Whimsical feel and I'm making sure no p is perfectly placed I want them to be going in all different directions I think it just looks more fun and interesting that way to attach them I'm using this tacky putty you know the stuff teachers used to use to put up our artwork on the walls in grade school without damaging the paint that's the stuff [Applause] [Music] ow my quads my quads are burning I was standing on my toes and I didn't realize it I think I need to work out more put that on my my fall bucket list oh my gosh oh my gosh [Music] I feel like this was a DIY that was easy to do it cost under $10 and is making a big statement this season in my home so if you have a similar decorating style to mine this is definitely something you should try it doesn't have to be for fall it can be any season you could even just do this as a fun statement piece in your home anytime so let me know in the comments below if you've done something like this before or if you're going to try it wanted to show you the pictures that I chose to use from the book I only went with three and I thought they would just be very subtle to show here on the mantle love this one up here because it's a dagger in a tree that's a very fairy tale to me this fairy tale Garland is just beyond beautiful it is perfect for the mantle the detail in this Garland is lovely I don't know another word to describe it other than lovely and magical it truly lives up to its hype you really can just pull it from the box and place it if you want to I am just adding a few books to tie in the [Music] theme of course no fairy tale theme would be complete without at least one Crown right so I decided to add one right here in the center of this Garland [Music] now I'm just adding a few pumpkins to the base of my fireplace all three of these pumpkins came in a set and they are part of the balam Hill fairy tale collection as well of course when we think of pumpkins and fairy tales we usually think of Cinderella and her carriage I wonder which one of these pumpkins would have been her carriage I thought this would be the perfect spot to add a glass slipper I am carrying the fall fairy tale foliage through to the front of the living room by adding one of the wreaths to my antique mirror you will see in a future video coming up that I add another one to the back window in the breakfast room using the same foliage throughout the entire space really creates a nice balance and that continuity and design that I'm going [Music] for you know that I love to incorporate Velvet Ribbon into to my Decor when I can especially in the fall and winter this year I chose to go with this warm beige color it's a really soft neutral that complement all of the other seasonal tones in here nicely I plan to use it in the kitchen and dining area this season as well [Music] so I knew aside from the books and the pages that I wanted just little hints of Whimsy around little almost remnants of fairy tales almost as if the pages of a really old book were opened and a few of those fairy tales came to life and there were just like remnants sitting around that's the madness that's in my mind but you know what I love it just very subtle nods to those fairy tales like the crown on the mantle or Cinderella's glass slipper right next to the bostom hill fairy tale pumpkins and then of course the rose my take on the Beauty and the Beast Rose in the clo but mine's a little more deconstructed and in this old vintage Lantern I think it turned out really really fun I think it was a way to interpret the theme without it being so on the nose but but you still get it I hope you love it too [Music] [Music] [Music] thank [Music] you you might like this one you want to see okay what you think you here yeah you like it I like [Music] [Music] it good job okay good [Music] job you like it you want now you want to give me a give me a kiss and I'll let you down hey give me a kiss you down okay [Music] [Music] [Music] I wanted to try something a little bit different today because as I was decorating there were so many thoughts that I had that I wanted to share with you about the decor or the idea behind the decor or the concept and so I thought you know what when I'm done I'm going to sit down and just talk through each and every space so you may see me and pop in and out I hope that's okay I found these great lamps at Target this year I do have some black rod iron throughout my home so I thought the base was really cool plus I love the Plaid shade just the soft green and cream other than my rug up here that I'm sitting on right now I really don't have a lot of pattern in this space for fall so I think those are just the perfect accent one thing I really value in design and one thing I think about when I am decorating a space and I'm moving through that space is continuity so after I placed these I knew I wanted that color continuity to carry through the rest of the living room so I knew I wanted to use this Golden Leaf Garland right here on this console table and so I also decided to use a burnt orange pumpkin and a green pumpkin if you're sitting in the living room by the fireplace and you look through you really see those colors in unison it's just a way that I like to look at design it helps me make decisions that I think really make everything cohesive and just bring the space together [Music] [Applause] [Music] is for [Music] [Music] oh my goodness what are you doing hey you hey sweetie hey sweetie what are you doing honey what are you doing I got puppy treats for cute little dogs hold on that was a couple of the neighborhood dogs attempting to pay me a visit while I was decorating they must have gotten out of their yard I am certain that they found their way home so I just thought I would leave that in because I thought it was so cute that the little one just came up to the door like hello I guess word has gotten out of in the neighborhood where all the good dog treats are [Music] [Music] here [Music] he [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you so much for taking a little bit of time out of your day to hang out with me here on YouTube I hope you enjoyed this video if you did stick around we
