[Music] [Music] yes sir yes sir what's going on everybody Welcome to another episode of D3 on3 XP special episode talking about Michigan State versus Florida and Atlanta first the first game of college football season man got my guy breed in the building man breed what's up brother how you feeling I'm feeling good I'm feeling good man tough you know tough tough Victory he but a win is a win man but other than that I'm feeling good the starter michiga State football season so I'm excited man very excited about it I I know it's going to be uh it's G be a journey so I'm G ride that journey and see what this team do absolutely man so as y'all know to those who watch today Michigan state with a victory 16-1 it was a ugly game uh of both teams um but Michigan State um able to come up with the victory it was it was close it didn't look like the I mean his first game in the season we I get it but you know Michigan State just didn't especially offensively didn't look themselves today their defense is carried them really pretty much majority of this game so um yeah so 16-1 um Michigan State just want to go a little recap right quick man listen um Michigan State started off in the first quarter uh Aiden Charles did throw an interception uh one of his first two passes of the game um but they was able to you know their defense able to get a a safety get a sack at with that safety so end up with the two point so the defense did step up that defensive line especially thean du he was unbelievable today especially when he got that sack in safety today he was unbelievable that defensive line was unbelievable today they got some pressure on the quarterback lot often and ever man then so they they sacked them um pretty significant about we going to go over the stats a little bit so um but yeah Michigan State it came out like you said in you know in the first quarter like I said it was two nothing um at you know the first quarter um it was just Michigan state has some opportunities uh offensively uh turnovers penies we that's we're going to get into in a little bit as well we're going to talk about those turnovers and peles but um yeah first you know the really much the first quarter was like guys is trying to get their feel in and stuff and Aiden Charles um it it was some it was some throws man they you know in the receivers they didn't they didn't see eye to eye well that comes with timing that's going to come that's going to come with time with that so I'm not going to not it's not a big concern yet because it's just the first game so um but Bri tell me you know what what is your thoughts and what is your feelings about this Victory and um what what you know just go ahead and elaborate what your feelings about this Victory brother well I think the thing is man it's it's of course it's a hard for victory any way you can get a victory is is cool um um we go this is a young team they' had so many players on this team so they're really trying to get the adjustment of this and the first game so they got a lot of freshman on this team and and they got a lot of uh transfers so I think they got about what uh eight or nine Juniors and seniors and stuff like that so this is a fairly young team so they're they're going to make their mist Stakes a child you know he's 18 he he's going to make some mistakes but it's good to get this off on the first game instead of you know these big games against these big schools so it's good to get this out early yeah he threw a couple picks but you know what I'm saying he stayed poised you know I I feel like they should have I think the offensive line should have helped helping the Run game because it's been times where they you know Nate Carter was just like brou are y'all gonna block or it's just like it it was it was a lot of times with that and they got a young receiving CP you know they got uh Ving who's goingon to be a tight end but it's it's um they got some weapons but this is the new game I thought it absolutely absolutely but the way that this defense like you said this defense saved the game with the offensive struggles the defense saved it even though you know for Atlantic's quarterback was struggling a little bit he threw a couple picks as well but this is a tough for the Atlantic team a very tough good coach team so it's nothing that you know have your heads down on this one this is a a a hard fought team and to have a victory like this and to have it early in the season I think it's going to help this team out man but the defense definitely played well they offensive line has to get better has to block better especially in the Run game um Gotta Have reli receivers and I like Foster he has to be that number one guy he has to want to be that number one guy yeah you know so um yeah it's just a it's just the first game that out the way um but I think this team is going to be fine man I think they gonna be fine they gonna have their struggles being a young team but I I I think they gonna be fine this is the first game so absolutely it's nothing you that absolutely you're absolutely right spot on everything you were saying um which go ahead and talk about these the team stats as you know the first downs Florida Atlanta has 18 of michigans st's 14 um the rushing you know it was eight you know and four you know this is the biggest one right here to me these are both teams they did not play did well on third down conversions um Michigan State felt that they had a little more opportunities to convert on third Downs it was just some Miss some Miss throws overthrows there misassignments um it it was it was it was that situation so um fourth down now I did not have a problem with the with the first fourth down they went for they you know converted but the second one that was kind of like the offensive line did not did not hold they they they did not block for n Carter and you talked about that the offensive line just far as in the Run game it was it was it was terrible it it was terrible um yeah so we look at that and you look at the rushing you know for Michigan State you know Nate Carter 19 carries only four he just could not get it going today but uh KRON Lynch um he had a he nine carries 101 um he had a touchdown he had that big run 63 yard touchdown yeah that made it 16 to nothing um so that was one of the difference that the ball gave uh just like you said you know one for that 63 yard big wi uh the rushan would wouldn't been good you know for Michigan State at all even it really wasn't like that so um you look at Aiden Charles he has six carries for 28 yards he did get a rushian touchdown um for 14 yards so that was that was huge on that so um but you know with a passing game 10 for 24 114 yards no touchdown two interceptions you know I mean the the the interceptions they got to clean those especially the second interception that he threw um you know he was a second late on that throw and the defender was able to look at and jump the route and that's what G Florida at landed that momentum that was able to them um just convert on that on that only touchdown of the game so yeah so that was able to Florida ATL able to get back in that game because Michigan State the Red Zone especially in the Red Zone you cannot turn the ball over in the red zone and those was the opportunities that Michigan state had they could have had touchdowns and field goals but you turn the you turn the ball over especially in the Red Zone that's a recipe for disaster so absolutely it's got to be definitely cleaner but you know pars with Florida ATL you know they you said that quarterback fer uh he did like you said threw a TD pass um he had two interceptions but you know they they couldn't get nothing going either you know what I'm saying they had opportunities they just could not get nothing going so um receiving like you said nobody did not stood out far in the receiving especially in our end um Foster you like you said he only had three receptions for 23 yards ASAS uh he has two catches only for 29 yards uh vill you know our tight end that came also came over from Oregan State I was one he was one of the best tight ends in the country last year uh he only had one catch he was targeted three times he only won catch for 15 yards and that was early in the game and they just um they just could not you know just could not get him going um so but yeah you look at it breed man Michigan State as far as defensively you know they was able to get get some pressure on their quarterback seven sacks seven sacks their defensive line they was able to get some pressure that's what they said we talked about earlier that defense kept them in the game their defense made plays when they had to made plays so they just stand like you said Florida Florida Atlantic you know they bars with the Russian yards you know we out rushed them for 179 to 132 they out passed us for only by two yards uh 116 to 114 total yards we had 293 today 248 I say was not a pretty it's not a pretty game you know for both teams but you know Michigan State in coming up with the victory so we definitely we know happy about that so and and and also too we haven't touched on this as well as uh the special teams was very good too they didn't allow any uh returns or anything like that they like like just minimal not too not that much not that many yards their pun and uh kick returners really wasn't doing anything so shout out to the special teams they did they did their job too and uh Dylan Tatum too shout up to him as well even though he got that horse T that horse collar tackle you know to get that penalty but other than that you know he he's played well in special team and everything so shout out to dyl T oh yeah oh yeah absolutely man um we gota Andante Brown too watch for that name watch for that that might be a guy St that he might be that next guy him and Mars might be them guys absolutely absolutely watch out for them so Bri we got to talk about this man we got to talk about this subject right we got to talk about it turnovers and pillings we got we we we got to talk about that man this is this is unacceptable you can state for three turn turns at the at the game um and Florida Atlantic with the two turnovers um but two interceptions and one fumble we had two fumbles but we end up recovering one of them and then the other one you know with that lost fumble those like you said Red Zone turnovers you can't have those no you know you cannot you can have those turnovers and you know expect to win the game um this is like I said we get credit to the defense more because the defense they you know they gave only seven points off the turnovers but when you turn the ball over it's a recipe for disaster okay AB we know that and you know Red Zone turnovers we just just talked about you know those are points that you left out there definitely points you left out so you know those turnovers you got to clean those turnovers man you got to clean the turnovers you know I got to take care of the football you know um the penies the penies I mean 11 11 penies yeah 12 yeah 12 12 for 140 12 for you you cannot win you're not going to win many games when those had those type of penalties like that yeah especially and and not to cut off but especially with these teams that's in the big team you can't do that can't no you can't really do with nobody especially teams in the in the conference you definitely can't do that especially if you want to win the conference can't do that yeah 12 penalties to 140 yeah is you got the victory but you you got to clean this and a lot of those penalties was like personal foul penalties guys you got to be smarter you got to be mature you got to be better yeah you got to you know this is the thing I quite sure Jonathan Smith is already going to you know talk about in the press conference um I'm quite sure he's already you know talking to he already talked to his team like guys we got the victory but it's a lot of things we got to clean up we got to clean this up in practice we got to clean this up we can't make silly mistakes we can't make these silly you know you got to be smart you got to be disciplined you can't take your helmet off you can't you can't sit up here you know you know just take these cheap personal fouls you can't do that because you're setting your team back you're setting your team back I think it's just you know you that's that's a lot of penalty yards and you could have you you could have lost this game yes you won but those type of things has to be clinked up yeah it does you can't have you can't have a targeting penalty to get you thrown out of the game either that's you can't have that at all and for had a player that was that had a targeting penalty and they get thrown out you know like I like I me before you had Dylan Tatum with the horse Color you got you know child's fumbling the ball but he got it back you got Foster fumble so it's like and then the interceptions like you you can't do that I understand yes it's a young team it's a lot of transfers from other universities that are here even though a lot of them came from where Jonathan Smith came from but it's still it's still new as far as going coming to Michigan state so they it they and and then they have to get and then the team they're gonna have to get used to Big 10 physicalness as well so hopefully they can uh get used to the Big 10 physicalness when they're playing these teams as in the in the conference the the team up north the wicin and all them St they have to play physical type football absolutely you know and they gonna test you they gonna definitely test you yeah absolutely man they going to definitely test they say this is stuff that has to be cleaned up um you know going in next week you know we got Maryland got a big 10 opponent coming up you you got to got to clean those got to clean those turnovers and P you know penalties man you that's a lot of penalty yards that you giving up you know especially on the defensive end your defensive side you know you make boneheaded you know errors like that man you you're you set your team back you giv the opposition opportunity to score you know get you cannot let teams get free yards you know you got to make them earn it and Michigan State they were just giving them so many three yards it was just unfortunate when the defense made plays they made plays you know they made the plays they had to make like you said it was not it was a ter it was it was a ugly win but we got it on the defense if I had to give the game ball to I'm giving to the defensive line I'm giving to their defense but I'm giving definitely to the defensive line and our linebackers because they will set the tones early and often so I give if I'm giving the game I'm giving them the game ball that's just plain the simple that's PL simple that defense line you know and that linebackers they was they was they was very good today so absolutely absolutely we got talk about this lack of offense got to talk about it so offensively like we just looked over the stats the Aiden Childs he was on 10 for 24 um 114 two interceptions no TDS a lot of it like you said you know you know first game you know guys it just going to take time for guys to get in real far especially in the passing game you know you know the passing game you know got to get you know trying to continue you know to get familiar but you got like couple of guys Aiden child you play with V play with him and you know or orgon State you know but The monter Fosters and other guys you know you know it's it takes them it's going to it takes it takes time the more they have the rest see you have the rest the more they build the more the confidence is going to be there Aiden Childs is some throws when you looked at it his throws he you know he making deep passes he over he was he was kept overthrowing like a couple of footballs maybe sailed on him but the other ones he was over throwing and trying to get some big plays and he overthrew him um far as like you said you mentioned you mentioned offensive line not protecting Nate Carter you know what I'm saying you know our our number one running back he had 19 Carri and 48 yards he couldn't get it going it was a couple times he was in the back field you know getting hit because the offensive line was getting pushed around doesn't open up the blocks for him you know like I said with Kon Lynch and he got that big run for 63 yards for that touchdown and that was one of the turning points of the game but Michigan State just after that they couldn't really get a rhythm and they couldn't really get him going especially with Nate Carter you know so that offensive line has to get better they got to they got to pass protect a little better too cuz there times I see aen I don't know he got he got sacked only you know he only got sacked one time but he was you know times he had to run for his life you know he did make some runs but he had to run for his life a few times the offens line has to do better to protect the quarterback and open up open up making you know open up the holes for Nate Carter and our running game you know cuz our running game was like I said it wasn't that if it was for k run with that big run our rushing our rushing yards would you know would have been terrible yeah the off the offense has to be has to be better going into Maryland a big 10 opponent um we going into their house so we got to got to clean those up we got to go ahead and take care of business on there so Bri what what are your thoughts on that yeah the definitely the lack of offense for sure on that um it's just yeah and you right that it wasn't for that running play that uh we wouldn't have got the we wouldn't had the 179 that we got rushing that that wouldn't even happen and yeah the offensive line has to get better they collapsed too many times on both uh Carter and the other running back we had yeah and um not say you know the other the other other one so um it's it's just and and you could just see what aen Charles he was trying to do too much like early especially that first like that was a throw he just shouldn't have made very first throw of the game where intercepted and that was something he shouldn't have throw should but it's just this is this what happens when you have a Young quarterback he's going to make some mistakes he's going to make mistakes and but we have a but he's a mobile quarterback so I feel like he should have ran a little bit more when he had open space because it's been it was times where he had open space and he didn't run yeah and he just seemed like he was a little confused so it's just like and that and that's and that's how a Young quarterback with more experience he'll get better with that he'll throw the ball more yeah so he's gonna he has to learn from this man because he doesn't but at the same time he doesn't um don't run too too much because it's going to save your body so you you have to just do a balance he he you know he shouldn't have to do it himself no shouldn't have do himself no and and it's just and and the wide receivers just go they gotta just run rice better yeah better for him because it's like if if if Charles is doesn't have that much space he it's going to be tough for him to to to throw it when he's not having enough space to throw the uh the wide receivers yeah so they they have to have better routes Foster have to do better routs all the you know all these guys got to and offensive line got to get better they got to block better they can't get overpowered you know they you can't get overpowered by this kind of team you know not not knocking fla Atlantic or anything or their capabilities or their team but as a big 10 team you can't get bullied around by Florida Atlantic you you can't do that that is it doesn't even matter if it's a first game it's unacceptable when when you do that it's it's totally totally unacceptable it's it's been it was times this team is better than wa this team is better than this but this is what we call First Jitters who knows next week might be better but you're in a environment you're in Maryland where it's tough to play out there in Maryland it's tough yeah so Maryland Maryland almost beat Michigan so it's tough it's tough there so it ain't gonna be no slouch Maryland you know they're going to come to play and we got to come to play as well PL absolutely we have to come out we have to we have to like you said those things we have to clean up those turnovers and penalties we got to clean those things up um and offense just got to get better man you got to they just got to get better they got to you know you can't put your your defense out there to the point that gota keep making plays to save your offense think this is the thing that the ref you know more Reps for this offense the like he said the offensive line they got to protect you know they got to get Nate Carter going um they got they got to get that going so oh this guy man this guy boy I tell you this guy I mean he just I'm not starting with you today I'm not starting with you you not getting me upset today nope no no I think I think big a is a more of a closet Michigan State fan I think he's more of a closet Michigan State fan man because he just like everything he comes up he always gotta bring up Michigan State when it comes if something happens he's always bringing them up you know but don't let him bring up about Michigan though oh man there's no lies we bringing up we we are bringing up we bringing up the mistakes that we that they making so we ain't we ain't getting no passes we we talking about the mistakes we talking about the positive so you know yeah it's all good he he wants to he want the link is the link is in the chat the link is in mean the lack of discipline though he was getting them with that late slide but that's part of the game right you should have like they should have been working on that like everybody know that about that quarterback bro like this one nothing you got to the game and you were surprised about it you know what I'm saying like at that point like it ain't like he G to put his shoulder down on nobody he gonna go down but it's like why do y'all keep hitting the boy like like I mean and then they got lucky on the one where uh where they turned when he was short on the F and honestly yeah honestly old boy should have been throwing out the game with the like why are you why why you throwing the elbow at old boy knocking his helmet off like he got lucky there but see but see seeig that's not that's not them not being disciplined you got to be disciplined exactly exactly you got to be smarter than that and that's the thing with those type those penties like you said no disrespect to Florida Atlanta but you know you can't do you can't do that type of stuff against big teams like you can't bro you taking the words out of my head cuz you can see the frustration and that's where them penties coming what you going to do when you going to get like like like what you gonna do when you're going against a team that got the same quality players you got is not better we was just talking about we was just talking about like if you go on the Big 10 play you play against teams like Michigan that team up north and stuff they gonna capitalize on penalties like that most definitely you know God you know the the the Texas the Oregons and stuff they gonna capitalize on that so yeah this this is a a this is a first game and like I said they gonna have they gonna have their theirs and things like that but this could be like a learning experience for them that this is happening and they shouldn't have had this many penalties at all not at all but you know what else is more alarming for me right this is the first game this the one you tuning up for the opening of the Season how them boys not practicing on this boy taking late slides like yeah that's what he do that's in his bio if you look in his bio it's gonna say he slides late watch out for that like the announcers kept saying that the whole game and it's just like yeah I don't know man they wasn't being smart they was not being smart you know like you say when you said we was just talking about before you we was talking about the penies man you know what I'm saying the the turnovers Aiden child you know that that second I didn't see the first interception but that second interception that he threw yeah he stared him down the whole way he stared the whole way he was if he would have threw it a second earlier that would have been a touchdown but he threw it a second L and stared him down that's when and that's when made Florida and Atlanta got you know just so back the game and they scor their only touchdown when they score off that turnover but I'mma tell you what was really scary bro you take away Jaden mangga I mean uh the running back um you take away that 65 yard run yeah State struggled on the ground against a A lowlevel Team bro that's crazy you gotta think about it that run was supposed to go through another hole and dog he just was a beast and broke that tackle and was out that's o yeah we we me and Bri was just said it to it wasn't for that big 60 63 yard yeah it wasn't for that that was yeah all rushing yards with cuz Nate Carter he only had 19 carries for 48 yeah and this the thing when when you come to it when you playing like lowlevel teams like that like I get it you gotta work on your passing but when it when it come down to it bro you should be able to move I mean fourth and one Nate Carter got hit like four yards in the Bro offensive line that collapse that offensive line that offensive line got to do better they they got overpowered by for Atlant they got they got bullied yeah it was it was no excuses no excuses I know I talk mess though but I was literally like I'm like I mean you gotta think about it bro State didn't score at all in the second half no they didn't no that's insane bro no they didn't and Florida Atlanta did and scored that touchdown and I felt I felt like and I feel I don't know I and I don't know if durl feel the same way I felt the way that Florida Atlantic was running their offense I feel like they should have loaded they should have loaded up more that run they should have made they should have made him pass pass the ball he had two intercept it was he had more than passes but see I'mma tell you so but they were so terrified of dude because I mean it was times when he broke and them DBS had their backs you got to think about it in this it was times where them DBS of Michigan State saved uh State dude like that open field tackling and they was like the last ones to make the tackles dude yeah man yeah it's got to get cleaned up you can't go yeah and you can't go to Maryland next week and Maryland front seven is gonna be nasty I mean next week bro yeah that old line I was just like that old line a and you can tell Charles after he got hit a couple times he ain't want to keep running that ball right it was times he could it was times he could have took off and he didn't dude yeah it like we just that's an experience that's an experience that's a Young quarterback that's still trying to learn himself and his offense they still trying to learn but that's what come with experience he'll learn that more with experience it's just that you can't do if that if that old line is getting you killed yeah and I say this to another thing Aiden Charles it was like you said it was times when you looked at it that he had opportunities to go ahead and run for first downs and run get some yards and he's he'll stop he'll run then stop and then try to throw the then throw the ball like dude why you just keep running but I I will tell you though I'mma tell you like man sometimes like mentally bro like even if you can't get to the court back they tell you H him still Hing Hing cuz them hits gonna add up bro yeah he he gonna remember him dude but yeah this it was ugly it's a ugly Victory man but it's it's it was it was real ugly but I mean it we will'll take the victory yeah but it's it's got if I had to give it a grade much as you know I I love my team that I if I had to give it a grade I'm giving a c minus darl you told me you told me y'all was gonna only lose two games this season after seeing this guy ain't no way you can still think that I I don't know I might have to rethink it's still early it's still early they might do the unthinkable no bro matter of fact you got go matter of fact we going we going tohe since this has been the Michigan State show we're gonna since you on here big a we're going to switch it up we're g to talk about your team oh you not no you not no no no we're going to play up their sleeves bro I don't see how they gonna score on our defense dog like that that that that's that's where I I I don't see where they gonna score on our defense and and like I said I'm not I'm not gonna take nothing from Fresno State or whatever the case is they you know they they spread offense you know but uh yeah our our our defense is our I'm telling you man a lot of people I know we lost a lot of people to the draft and stuff but a lot of people don't realize man Michigan we played a lot of people last year bro and Fresno State offensive line they they they ain't about to see no front seven like we got bro and I'mma tell y'all a name y'all need to keep an eye on Jon baram I'm telling you y y'all heard it I'm telling you he's at Lineback of that transfer from Maryland bro oh bro I know exactly who he is I'm telling you man michan defense gonna be nasty bro I'm ask you any any concerns do you have any little concerns uh I do I mean as far as defense I will say I want to see uh what corner look like opposite of will Johnson which I'm confident it though cuz I like J Hill they saying that he gonna be the starter and I think he got some dog in him and I I like that about him uh I do want to see that I mean and of course you know I want to see I want to most definitely see our quarterback play I mean that's for sure I'mma tell you this if I was Michigan you know and which I think they kind of already was doing I'll take a page out of what Georgia Tech did with Hayes King uh last week uh against Florida State H King didn't have to he didn't have to throw a bunch of balls downfield but all he had to do was was keep JS alive and use them legs all he had to do so let so let me ask you this do you think um how you do you think it's gon to be too much for Donovan Edwards this year to have all them carries see a't used to all them carries no I think honestly I believe uh he ready for it I mean I I mean if if it ain't no time the time is now D like you you trying you going to the league next year and uh thing about it is he ain't gonna have to do it all itself because I mean we our backfield a lot of people sleeping on our back field too our back we got a Back Field dog like our back field is gonna surprise a lot of people they ain't gonna just have to be Donovan Edwards you know what I'm saying that's one thing like I don't know people got to
