Intro good morning dog Nation I'm Brandon Adams and this is dog Nation daily the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans presented today by bradada past management man we are loving everything around the world of college football here right now with the dogs on top how could you not before we're done today you know we made fun of Billy Napier yesterday and one of the programs in his own state is taking that mockery to a different level today we'll tell you about that how about Davin Bellamy on the program today coming up about 45 minutes from right now that's going to be really good stuff from him I think Saturday is a pretty key day for Georgia in relationship to one specific thing Kirby Smart had some stuff to say about that yesterday we will talk about that there is more like nashing of teeth coming out of the Clemson program this is not a dignified thing to do it's not a FY thing to do but we're going to make fun of Clemson a little bit more on the show today can't help but be how God made me I don't reckon uh but off the top her herbstreet has noticed the very impressive performance from Georgia on Saturday and he's offering a lot of praise for ug we're going to focus in on the specific meaning of some of that here as we get things rolling today that plus Mike Griffith coming up in a couple of minutes there as well it is dog Nation daily the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans presented by br Pest Management and it begins right now today's episode of dog Nation daily is brought to you by braa Pest Management the official pest control of ug Athletics presented by dog.com this is dog Nation daily the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans here's your host Brandon Adams obviously it feels really good to be a Georgia fan here this week Georgia took care of its business and the early start gave you the chance to sort of in and watch everybody else and L of the Georgia Rivals did not take care of their business at least one in particular other teams that we've had some fun making fun of they didn't quite do their stuff so when you're one and0 ranked number one when you dispatched your opponent by 31 points all the other soap operas happening around all the rest of college football you get a chance to just sort of enjoy all of that and watch it play out and for a couple of days here you know Kirby Smart hates the you know all the praise the Pats in the back coaches never like that stuff but if you're a fan I'd say you kind of do you like to be a relevant factor in the college football conversation I would say that most Georgia fans like hearing nice things about their team so it's with that in mind I want to play something for you and it also leads us into something we need to talk about Kirk CB Street making an appearance on the Pat McAfee show Herbst Street kind of rolling through all the stuff from college football but taking a moment to pause on Georgia toss a lot of compliments giving them their flowers I guess you say in this day and age tossing a lot of compliments George's way about how it played against Clemson and really one word in particular from herb Street sort of stands out to me on this let me let you hear herb street with McAfee and it sets us up for a conversation we need to have here is Kirk herb Street how about the reminder of Georgia yes yeah holy cow I mean and you guys can kick uh davo right now and and I'm not saying you guys but the nation can have fun with him he doesn't Kirk Herbstreit impressed with UGA after Clemson win do nil bottom line they still have a defense I mean they still have NFL players at the line of scrimmage on the defensive side that Barrett Carter they're pretty good team I I think when the dust settles at the end of the year I think we'll see the Clemson's a pretty good football team but Georgia just just pounded them and they got the quarterback and Carson Beck they just reload with the skill spots hit the portal a little bit at receiver defense is just nasty I mean I I because Georgia played somebody I feel like we're back to okay there's Georgia and we're going to find out who else wants to be invited to play up there with Georgia all right a couple things here first of all and admittedly this is a little snarky but because I mostly want to you know enjoy the the quote there from herb street at the beginning though he's like man Georgia sent all of us a reminder about how good they are I think there are some Georgia fans would sort of wonder how come how come y'all always forget like how come y'all always need reminding of how Georgia how good Georgia is why do y'all keep forgetting that perhaps herb Street's playing with his dog too much but uh it seems like Georgia has to spend too much time reminding people like K kirb Street sometimes how good it is because it seems like over the course of an offseason people have a tendency to gravitate towards something else but honestly be that as it may we'll push that aside but the fact that George is always having to remind folks yeah we're still Georgia we're still the best team it feels a little suspicious to some Georgia fans perhaps that's the case but but pushing that aside a word that herb Street uses that I think has a lot of meaning and honestly the more we kind of pull back from the Clemson game the more I sort of focus in on it herb Street calls it a nasty Georgia defense didn't it sort of feel like like on Saturday that Georgia kind of got back to being nasty again didn't it sort of feel like it was kind of a throwback to a couple of years ago on that Georgia defense overall I certainly felt that way and I I think it's probably fair to say that Georgia had a better defensive performance against Clemson though some of that may be opponent dependent because Clemson may not be very good on offense but Georgia may have played better against Clemson defensively on Saturday than it did in any game in the 2023 season I think there's a chance that's true and I think it's good that herb Street noticed that so I want to park on this just for a moment because you know we'll all kind of remark on the fact that Georgia gets off to a slow start offensively and kind of explodes in the third quarter and distance itself the rest of the game but what we saw from Georgia defensively on Saturday that may have been the single most important talking point to walk out a Mercedes-Benz stadium with and what I love about this is is this is a defense that obviously has the chance to continue the legacy of what this group did in 2021 not necessarily being that good but reminding people at times of what they did in 2021 and I always say this when Georgia broke through and won that national championship for the first time under Kirby Smart that the real Legacy of that Georgia defense would be all the defensive players who came to Georgia because of it and wanted to have their own moments at Georgia the same way that 2021 group did four regular season games which they didn't allow a touchdown something that Georgia also did on Saturday and that particular point the idea that people would come to Georgia because of that we're seeing that on the field here right now I thought this is worth going to seek out on the dog Nation YouTube page I thought that railand Wilson gave a really interesting series of answers to some questions yesterday one of those things from him was if you want to go back to 2021 when guys like Quay Walker became first round picks when guys like noobe Dean won the buckus award when you had you know Channing Tindle getting drafted where he did the success of all those those linebackers at Georgia moving on to the NFL you know how that impacted a guy like railen Wilson to then come to UG and contribute to what K kirb street called a nasty unit against Clemson I thought that that railen Wilson gave a really good answer to that yesterday I want you to hear this take a look that really made me uh cuz I was you know I was committed to Michigan that really made me open up my eyes to what I really wanted in the long run and uh like I said the development the development part is different so I ain't GNA say question about that he obviously doesn't want to say what I think he wants to say which is I can go to Michigan or I can go to Georgia of course I want to go to ug but we saw that group breakthrough be so nasty in 2021 and now guys like raayan Wilson or at Georgia saying I'm ready to carry on that Legacy I'm ready to continue that here with the dogs right now and as I told you I thought some of the stuff from Wilson yesterday was so good because he's obviously not the only youngish linebacker who is kind of trying to make some of that kind of stuff happen CJ Allen kind of the same way um both these guys are part of what contributes to a phenomenal defensive Raylen Wilson talks up the Dawg's D performance on Saturday uh Wilson sort of also talked about a really kind of fun competition that the two linebackers Allen and Wilson have ongoing with each other in the classroom on the football field and everywhere else you want to know why Georgia has the kind of Competitive Edge that Kirk kirb Street would call nasty it's because of the way in which guys like Wilson and his partner here CJ Allen seemingly approach everything about college wife College live not wives I don't think they're married College live once again here's ran Wilson oh no that really talk about that but uh how we push each other Sho we push each other in every aspect of the game in the classroom like cuz we have some of the same class so we try to try to answer questions first in class like everything really a competition but it's not like a harsh competition it's like oh I got you right here and you just trying to get back like fight for the rebound the whole time that's what it's all about I love the analogy of fighting for the rebound that's just a really good way to describe you know if you're St we used the word strain yesterday if you're straining at the appropriate level it sort of seems like you're you know boxing out fighting for the ball I think that's really good stuff from raayan Wilson right there and the point is herb Street says man that Georgia defense they reminded us if we needed it they reminded us they are nasty you know and and they put a performance together unlike anything else anybody did here this week well you don't get that kind of nasty performance if you don't approach the practice week with a Competitive Edge that also bleeds in the classroom and everything else like all of this stuff matters every little thing adds together to the big thing and we said so much going into the game against Clemson there's just an edge that Georgia can find that a program like Clemson just doesn't seem to have maybe at one point time they used to have it but it doesn't get passed down from generation to generation of Clemson players the way that it seemingly gets passed down generation to generation of Georgia players because Georgia still has it in a way that Clemson doesn't it's the veteran guys who give it to the next group that seem to make that possible for UG and with that in mind you know railen Wilson was sort of also talking about that yesterday that you got young guys like CJ Allen and raen wil and they're sort of frothing at the mouth to be their own version of what Georgia was in 2021 but as they do that they're also learning from guys who were on those national championship teams and in the case of railand Wilson it's a guy like smile mondan and Wilson talked about that yesterday there as well how a veteran presence like uh a smile gives Georgia a chance to teach young guys how to be just as nasty as these dogs were a couple of years ago when they were winning back-to-back national championships here's more from railen Wilson on that I picked up a lot from SM now uh we play the same position money uh yeah he pretty much took me under his wing soon as I got here explaining everything to me and just how uh the linebacker room posted to is supposed to be and like the standard and we upheld we push that standard every day so I feel like he he help me a lot coming in here it still does so let me sum all this up for a minute and then after that I'm going to be very spiteful and rude um Kirk KB Street says man nasty Georgia defense boy they were back at it doing what they always do the point I'm making and I think you already know this that kind of stuff doesn't happen by accident it just doesn't it doesn't happen you don't have a nasty defense unless you bring in players who have an insatiable appetite for competition you just heard railen Wilson as a representative of that group saying yeah we're competing in everything we do you don't have that nastiness on the field unless you have guys who want to learn from players who've also played nasty before as railand says smile Mon and helps teach that and you don't have that nastiness on the field unless you have an obvious example of a standard Bearer from previous Seasons Who clearly got that done the way that Georgia did back when it first broke through and won a national champ from the Kirby Smart era in 2021 all of this is by design it is not a chance encounter it is not an accident Georgia trains its players to be nasty in practice day after day after day when you do it right the results are what you get uh there on Saturday now let me do this because sometimes I'm just not very classy this is an example of that and I I hate it but I am as God made me um the the a very different kind of nastiness seems to be emerging from the Clemson program right now where they are just still like just in shambles over the game on Saturday and I I wish I didn't think the stuff like this was funny I wish I wasn't so entertained by this but here we are what is today is it today Wednesday yeah so we're Wednesday so we have still got Clemson sort of dealing with the aftermath of everything that went down on Saturday and the fact they got kicked around by the nasty version of Georgia and kind of what you do about all that what does this mean about dabos Sweeney and Sweeney sort of becomes like the politician here like trying to like sort of defend the pro and deflect here he's had a couple of rough moments uh not since like Tyler and sparenberg have we seen Dabo sort of backed into a corner as much as we have this week another example of that from yesterday I wish I didn't think stuff like this was funny but Dabo having to still try to explain how it is they got beat so bad and what it means and how bothered or not he is by all of this here's more from kind of a rough daboy take a listen to this y'all going to write crap y'all going to write terrible stuff and when we do great y'all going to write great stuff you know that's okay I mean everybody's got a job to do it's okay that's okay I don't take it personal you know I don't read it uh or listen to it that doesn't it doesn't doesn't affect me I love my job I love what I do I love all of it y'all can't change that nothing you can write nothing you can say can change that I love what I do I love these kids I love my purpose in life and my life is on a on a foundation that doesn't change it just doesn't and you know so hopefully that's something that our kids learn as they go through you know moments like this uh that they can learn how to you know handle adversity learn how to handle success cuz you're going to have you're going to have both in life and that's a great part of what football teaches I've told you before there are things about dbos swiy I probably like more than some of y'all do Dabo Swinney deflecting criticism but judging him on the basis of how good of a job he's currently doing for Clemson he is at least right now seemingly not capable of cultivating the kind of nastiness that Georgia put out on display on Saturday that Kirk herb Street found reason to praise a moment ago and there's sometimes in life some nothing that makes you seem more unhinged and out of control than trying to show how calm and relaxed you are I'm not mad don't let it be said that I'm mad yeah Dabo you you you you're totally you're just very relaxed right now I say that sarcastically obviously that seems to be pretty bothered by the aftermath of this game he seemingly didn't see it coming but a lot of us did because we know George is just capable of cultivating something that Clemson can't and as Kirk herb Street says it's also the kind of thing that draws a sharp contrast between the dogs and everybody else in college football right now herb Street says it very well we know who the best team in the country is we're trying to find out who the next best team in the country is and who possible contenders to ug perhaps are but if you get ready to play this version of Georgia you better be ready to match their nastiness and as history proves that is not not always an easy thing to do my name is Brandon Adams and this is dog Nation daily the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans presented today by bra past manager we're so happy to have you with us as a part of our program today whether it's video 10: a.m. across all platforms even earlier in that 950 now across every platform for some live comments so you have no idea what this means to me I know I say that kind of stuff and maybe it sounds like false humility or whatever else I hope it doesn't but maybe it does but the point is is like I am genuinely sincerely so thankful for this guy was telling me hey you know ba I made the switch to BR the pass manager because of what you say and he said and he told me this is amazing right he said uh literally the company I was working with exactly the way you say it you get the letter in the mail about the cost of service going up I was tired of that so I made the switch to bra pass manager like how great is that that braa really is taking care of folks in our audience exactly the way that we say they do they will do that for you there as well so if you want the prestige of working with the official Pest Control provider of ug Athletics you can get that if you want more money in your pocket which as much as I love you g probably actually still matters to me the most just being honest done which is hear me say it make the switch put more money back in your pocket just for doing it great to have braid up past management bring dog Nation daily to us here today all right very busy for us coming up 25 or so minutes from now we're going to have the terrific very entertaining former dog Davin Bellamy on the show I thought Davin knocked it out of the park as a part of our dog Nation postgame show uh this past weekend and Davin is now going to join us every Wednesday at that time throughout the season here so really good stuff with Davin Bellamy coming up in just a little bit we love Davin we love his Insight he'll give more of it to us here today also Mike Griffith coming up in a couple couple of minutes there as well but prior to that let's go around the dogghouse it's presented today by Georgia Farm Bureau and of course we're happy to have them as a part of the program and when you look ahead to Saturday for Georgia you kind of know what the day is or at least what it's supposed to be and hopefully it will work out that way for ug it is perhaps a chance for Georgia to Showcase some young Talent you know now the Clemson game turned out to be that too KJ Balden flashes early it was a remarkable debut for Nate Frasier as many of us expected it to be but a opponent like Tennessee Tech perhaps gives you a little bit of chance to do even more of that and I think the presumption a lot of us would make is future College Stars High School juniors and seniors they're getting ready to make their college decision maybe they're looking in on a place like Georgia saying if I go there can I be KJ Balton is this a place I can play can I be Nate Frasier is this a place I can play can I do like what Joseph Jonah got a chance to do a little bit what Justin Williams got a chance to do a little bit of can I be a guy that gets a chance to play and is a game like this a showcase for some of that young Talent this is what Kirby Smart said about that last night on the subject of not just against Tennessee Tech but throughout the entirety of the Season Georgia being the kind of place where young talented freshman get a chance to Showcase what they're all about this is Kirby from last night I don't I don't know about playing time I think I think we can disprove that with the guys that have started and played it may get used but it doesn't work very effectively CU we have as many freshman all-americans and as many freshman plays as anybody in the country so I don't know how affected it is but I don't know I would I would be interested to see how 13 compared to other years obviously the type of game you play in um but they take that to be you know last year prob had morning 13 play cuz of the score and the differential couple years ago against Clemson probably didn't have many I know one that did but I don't know many more than that one um but every year is different you know it's not about it's about their development I think so many freshman across the country right now are so caught up in am I going to play am I going to play this week am I going to travel what am I doing did I make the right decision cuz all they got to think about is the alternative of where I can Kirby on freshmen playing go and if you just be where your feet are and get better you'll come out on top in the end so I think there's a lot in that particular clip first of all the 13 that smart references is the number of I guess freshman players that did play against Clemson there on Saturday and the beginning of that clip was smart referencing the possibility of the program like George is negatively recruited against because oh because it's so deep and talented maybe as a freshman if you go there you might not get be able to play as much as you want to and I think that every recruiting battle Georgia against somebody else can kind of be Whitted down to this Georg is selling we're the best we're the best at development if you want to be the best you obviously come here here and that's a pretty strong message right we're the best we develop the best so if you want to be the best you come here but the flip side of that is literally almost every other program in America can say we need you more we need you more than they do so therefore we might pay you more than they will or therefore we'll play you more than they will but that's what it comes down to we're the best come here and be a part of the best somebody else saying yeah but if all the best are in one place don't you want to come to a place where we'll play you more and we'll pay you more cuz we need you more like that's every recruiting battle right there in some form or fashion gets whittel down to that right there and so Kirby Smart sort of you know kind of weighs in on that topic and then the other thing that kind of shows up here and I personally feel like there has been a lot of this from Kirby Smart here this week I think that Kirby is pretty keenly aware at least it seems like to me and maybe you read this into some of the stuff in this week too if you're watching all those press conferences on the dog Nation YouTube page managing expectations for playing time has become a very big part of the job it just has whether it be a freshman who shows up thinking they're the best or a transfer player who comes to Georgia because of this is my big shot to show everybody what I'm all about or maybe even more so guys who've been here waited a little bit and now maybe are being called upon to have that patient sort of wait a little bit more how hard can you practice uh how focused can you remain it seems like managing that expectation is a big part of the job right now and a lot of the words from Kirby Smart sort of you know seem to to to suggest all of that uh you know maybe worth paying attention to when you look ahead to a game like Saturday but as far as those freshmen who are playing when they do play are they more prepared to play because of the fact that high school football simul is more advanced than it's ever been physically these guys are as in good a shape as gosh I think humanly possible are they more ready to play than they used to be this is what smart said about that yesterday as well oh they're not they're not prob they're having play out of necessity having play out of uh the fact that we got more transient roster shooting we any more ready to play physically mentally at disposition you know got any freshman let me say this in our league playing in our league sec to SEC if you're playing with a lot of freshman you're in trouble cuz they're not physically developed that doesn't mean one can't do it but you don't be out there playing L rush so Kirby Smart says you don't want to be playing with a lot of freshman because they're not physically developed here right now which I think brings us back to Saturday one of the things that can be valuable about a game like the one that Georgia's about to play against Tennessee Tech if it goes the way that it's supposed to is some of that experience for freshman to maybe make them a little bit less like freshman by the end end of the season some of that can can be gained on Saturday we'll see if Georgia is able to do it and that is around the dogghouse it's presented by our friends at Georgia Farm Bureau you know by law you have to have auto insurance so you're going to go out and choose somebody to be your auto insurance provider so who do you choose and how do you make the decision what's best for you well I'll tell you one of the things that I think you ought to consider is the fact that a company like Georgia Farm Bureau is based with a bunch of folks right here in the state of Georgia who understand what life is like for Georgians they love college football just like you do they're going to work every day in the state just like you are they're raising their family and communities just like yours all across Georgia friends at Georgia Farm Bureau are all about so I want you to give them a call 877404506 7 404-1050 also find them online gfb insurance.com that's G gfb insurance.com you know the slug we use is that have Georgia Farm Bureau a part of around the doghouse here today on dog Nation daily so as promised we're a little bit less than 20 minutes away from a great conversation with Davin bellam me looking forward to that also so one of our dog nation.com commenters is now using the username uh rural Central Florida after the Billy Napier thing from yesterday we have more details on that some pretty hardcore trolling coming Napier's way from one of the Ral programs there in the State uh so we'll have some fun with that before we're all s and done today there as well but for now young players we might see on Saturday and what we might see from the dogs overall in this home opener against Tennessee Tech let's cover all of background and more here with Mike Griffith today on dog Nation daily presented by BR pass management from Athens and across the SEC or wherever the recruiting Trail may lead here's a dog.com Insight say hello to Mike Griffith on hand for coverage from Georgia all week long including Kirby Smart there last night Mike we just had a chance to hear Kirby talking about you know hey you don't want to play too many young players but at the same time you want to be the kind of place where young players can play and you want those guys to be as ready as possible when they do play which means that if Saturday goes as it's supposed to against Tennessee Tech perhaps a chance to Showcase some of that Talent who are some of the young guys that you're looking forward to either seeing a little bit more of or maybe seeing in a way that we did not see them against Clemson what's your outlook for some of that for Georgia on Saturday well Brandon obviously you want to get Nate Frasier more work and to build that back field up that's why you know the whole Trevor ET status it it really doesn't matter I mean we've talked about this could be a 17 Game season and I've said from the beginning etn is a guy that you've got to have there at the end and and Nate Frasier showed you what he could do and and that playing experience was invaluable for him it was invaluable for Georgia I would argue he was the offensive MVP in DawgNation Insider Mike Griffith on young UGA talent that game maybe the game MVP for that matter uh but this is a young guy that's worked hard in the short time that he's been here a fstar recruit and he needs carries he needs work um at the same time uh there's others back there that are deserving of work right you want to see cash Jones continue to get some work too and and you hope that maybe Branson Robinson's second game uh he'll be a little bit more psychologically sound look like he was tip tone a little bit that doesn't suit a 225 pounder and they're going to need him to lower the shoulder and they're going to need him to be ready and of course Rod Robinson hasn't played yet because of the toe but but Frasier is a guy back to the question I think Nate Fraser is the guy that needs to continue to be fed the ball and then on the flip side you know KJ Balden led the defense in snaps last week and and I don't know why you wouldn't use him a lot more another guy who needs to be assignment sound that needs to be solid because again a long season and Kirby told us right from the beginning that he wanted to coach the bottom of the roster up um you know these were players that were new to the program that that he's got to have ready uh you know you're hoping a guy like Jon El Aguero he's not a freshman but didn't really play much last year that's a newcomer to the lineup you're hoping that he can get some snaps as well as Georgia continues to try to build some of these young players uh into Championship depth and and really the stars of tomorrow when you think about it yeah I think beyond that if Georgia builds the big enough lead you know look I think the next generation of like say Chris Cole Justin Williams I mean they may have a chance to be just as good as like we think of a railan Wilson to CJ Allen being right now and that sort of previous group in front of them I'd love to see more of them with their look because like physically they really kind of bring some to the table I think for ug you know getting more guys rot h on the defensive line if it's a chance for Joseph Jun aan to play a little bit more I mean he's so talented that you got to think that he could have maybe an even bigger role by the time you know this season is done you know is it a chance for Ellis Robinson to do a little bit more you know the bigger the Georgia lead is I think you would presume the greater the opportunity is for guys like that yeah Ellis Robinson's interesting ba I think he's got great ball skills and maybe Tennessee Tech's a good game for I just don't know that he has the physicality uh this year I think he's probably one of the guys when you talk about people that that you don't really want to have to play a lot because clearly the guy is skilled he's fast uh but physically I just don't know if he's ready to come up and and take on that bubble screen action or bring down that 230 pounder in the open field like like we saw KJ Balden do but there there's no doubt this guy's a talent I I'm just my my thing is I I don't want to see this guy get hurt I don't want to see him get his shoulder early because he's built so slight just really not SEC thick yet but SEC skilled I mean to your point I mean maybe this is a guy you're going to throw in there in a dime package and you play some of these spread teams with the coverage abilities I'm just not sure about being an every down player the experience is obviously valuable and and you got a couple corners over there that are battling out you want to get those guys valuable reps because while you do want to develop the the uh younger players you also want to develop the guys and get them in sync that are going to be playing the linebacker room is so deep and so talented I look at a guy like a Samuel impemba Brandon that that's a guy that's a name that I keep waiting to pop because boy you look at impemba and just such a big physical strong fast guy uh haven't really seen a ton of work out of him yet that's a guy that I would like to see more of and also squeeze in one more name here there as well which is we saw Georgia rotate pretty freely with U no pun intend with mon freeling on Saturday mikah Morris may have played a little less than some people would have thought I think that's a testament to how well that Dylan Fair performing here right now but I think Saturday could be a guy like say Daniel Calhoun who you know incoming freshman who I think has a chance to sort of be George's eight offensive lineman that guard they feel okay about getting in the game you know Georgia's been really good about cultivating that depth and I know this one of those things that sometimes maybe late game or something like that sort of slips through the the collective conscience of some Georgia fans but seeing how much Georgia is able to kind of move past just like say Morris and freeling and getting more offensive lineman heavily involved in the game Mike I think that could be a pretty big deal for George on Saturday too for sure you know you're always looking to develop line depth and you know those big uglies fight it out every day what did Kirby say 90 95% of your snaps come in practices and you don't really get a chance to see these guys on Saturday but certainly Calhoun is a guy that that is intriguing uh you mentioned freeling and to be quite Frank uh you know Xavier trust did not have his best game at right tackle and I'm not saying any of these freshmen can push him but I I think this is something georg's really got to work on that Tackle Spot left me with a little bit of a question mark so I don't know whether it's a newcomer or a backup uh but I got to think Georgia might look at some options at right tackle to push truss uh if not downright replace him so moving on you had mentioned uh this name a moment ago there a little bit of a dust up involving him yesterday in your I guess based on your reporting your your belief is Trevor etn going to play on Saturday um I I don't know I don't think it matters I I if I'm Kirby i' I'd say look you know I can unsuspend you if you want but you're not going to get much work uh if you're etn you're not winning the heisen trophy this year okay and you're probably not getting enough carries to to be a first te that's not why he's here he's here to get NFL draft ready and the fact of the matter is uh he made a mistake in the Spring Georgia did not have to suspend him I've talked to people in administration that true they did not have to they made a judgment call based on what they read in the police report based on what they thought was best for Trevor etn so now it's interesting you know we've had so many people say oh you know Georgia doesn't care enough well now you make the argument maybe they care too much I mean you and I were talking about this last week saying hey this isn't fair to this guy you know I mean if the rules don't say you got to be suspended then why you suspend him and George said because we think we should because we think this is in the best interest even though they didn't have to and and Will Trevor Etienne play Saturday? that's that's amazing to me it's almost like the pendulum is swung right like well you know maybe they weren't doing it well now I'm thinking holy cow um but I I just don't think it matters and and whether you want to call it a suspension or a coach's choice or I don't know maybe he gets three carries but it's Tennessee Tech and as we open the segment with there's a lot of freshman and a lot of deserving players that need that work Trevor etn uh I would say I would guess he might play if I had to guess I would say he would play maybe a series or two only to get his feet wet but you don't want to be putting this guy this thoroughbread out there uh you know against some trashy little program where he might get injured I mean the fact of the matter is I think you could probably get 20 snaps and I don't know I'll give you four yards a carry B I think you might break a tackle or two and fall forward but uh let's face it I mean this is a team they're going to steamroll uh one of the things we also got from Kirby Smart a lot this week a little bit of an update on the injury situation you mentioned Janelle Aguero it seems like Aguero little closer although I have a hard time completely deciphering exactly what that means but um you know Mel is a guy that we don't expect to play you know I guess what can you tell me more about getting some additional injury information provided from Kirby Smart last night yeah and not I mean not a lot I mean Kirby's gonna come out with his inury report and and he'll you know a lot of game time stuff look again I I don't know why you'd play Mel Williams in a game like this you want to rest this guy and he mentioned it was a great two sprain right out of the gate which which tells me you know that's that's Kirby announcing this is serious enough to miss another game I mean that was that was code for we ain't playing this guy against Tennessee Tech I I don't know about Stackhouse I'm guessing he'll be back out there we heard Brinson was back out there and doing some things but again doing some things means uh he may not play either and why would he why you know when you've got guys like Christian Miller and Jamal Jarrett that need that work and and they really do because the interior defensive line to me Brandon is the Achilles heel of this team I mean they're they're good but not great and certainly not what Kirby Smart offers new information on UGA injuries? they've been with likes of Jordan Davis and Devonte Wyatt and Jaylen Carter so to me I'm I'm on the negative side I'm leaning towards the negative side on this only because I don't think you need to play these players I mean this is a very conveniently scheduled game take advantage of it get let Brinson uh heal up a little bit remember he was slowed in Camp by an Achilles himself um and certainly no one needs to push Michel Williams this is an opportunity as you said in the very first segment to play a lot of young guys sharpen some of these guys up because it get get real you know that road trip to Kentucky we know every that's a physical game every year doesn't matter what the scoreboard says ky's going to punch in the nose and even more so with Vander Griffin Jamon Dumis Johnson over there and then you get a bye to R up a little bit lick your wounds but then you're on to Alabama and and then October the schedule just catches fir so I I think it's very important how Kirby manages this roster right now that he gets these guys as much rest as possible and shortens the season maybe a little bit for a guy like etn because again I I think you need etn in the playoffs to win the national championship I think he's that good I want to finish with this a guy we probably haven't praise enough here this week for the role that he did we began the show today by talking about a very successful day for the Georgia defense but the impact in particular that Jaylen Walker made on that and kind of that hybrid role that so much has been said about uh Mike kind of a in many ways sort of a a guy that's played at a high level for Georgia but many ways kind of a breakout performance from him what did you make of what you saw from Jaylen wal on Saturday just it's so exciting Brandon it's so exciting to see a guy like this emerge and we know he's there we know he's versatile we know he's hybrid but it was Jaylen Walker making that second and one stop and third and one stop and Georgia just gone up 20 to3 and Clemson had to answer and it was just like Jaylen Walker just slam the door shut stopping that tail back in the hole and then not getting sucked in by that fake and taking down Club Nick on his little read option there I mean backto back impact plays and it just felt felt like that was it I felt like that was the nail in the coffin when Clemson couldn't pick up a yard on second and one and third and one down 20 to three it just seemed like that was it for sure I mean the offense had kind of gotten things going a little bit but How good can Jalon Walker be for UGA defense? then Clemson they couldn't answer and you can't pick up a yard I mean that's devast it's devastating to your psyche it's devastating to your coaching staff certainly takes the air out of the sales of the fans I thought Jaylen walker uh did a tremendous job stepping up in the clutch and and this is another guy but like I said a weapon guys like Jaylen and Mikel Williams you can line these guys up at a lot of different places really difficult for offenses to prepare for you don't know where they're going to be employed or how they're going to be deployed but both of these guys are difference makers and Jaylen Walker to me uh it looks like a future NFL star well Mike I tell you what I appreciate your time here today on the program we look forward to reading more from you at Dog nation.com looking back on what was against Clemson ahead to Tennessee Tech coming up on Saturday see you in Athens there as well and thanks for being here today on dog Nation daily presented by BR Pest Management I look forward to it Brandon thank you let's take a look around the rest of the League this is SEC through all right really good stuff there from uh Mike Griffin of course we're not done today as far as great guests are concerned uh Davin Bellamy the former George Bulldog here coming up in a few minutes there too let me say this also really quick on the subject of injuries worth going I believe it is for you to the dog Nation YouTube page to see um what Kirby Smart said yesterday about Jordan Hall and his injury recovery really offering some words of praise to hall for just the aggressive way in which he's approaching his attempt to get back on the football field I think you'll like that it's worth checking out uh go see that on the dog Nation YouTube page by the way really good stuff from Cody Chaffin and Mike G Monday on the bead really fun video of some stuff involving cash Jones we may show this to you on the show later on this week but uh that's worth going to check out there as well dog Nation on YouTube how about Cruis around the SEC courtesy of Royal Caribbean how about your chance to be on the dog Nation cruise with us in April it is getting booked up and folks are there they're a part of it the word is out this year we're on Utopia of the Seas and if you haven't heard or you don't really understand it's worth educating yourself on just exactly what kind of experience is provided when you're on board Utopia of the Seas all the really cool neighborhoods including like say the boardwalk neighborhood this where you have the carousel that you can ride you have the playmaker Sports Bar and Grill you have the Tim abiz which is the tallest slide at C uh you've got you know just it's where the aqua theater is you know one of the things that Royal Caribbean does better than anybody in the in that space is the great entertainment options on board a ship like this which means world class shows the high diving Show an example of them Jessica Slater can tell yall all about it you can give her a call 77078 9147 that's 7771 89147 you can also find her online by emailing her J Slater atream vacations.com that's J Slater dream vacations.com so let me say this obviously gets much more interesting for Georgia next Saturday against Kentucky you got to imagine even though obviously the Georgia coaches and players won't admit this could imagine they're watching the Wildcats pretty closely on Saturday in the first secc game of the season as Kentucky gets ready to take on South Carolina now I'm also pretty fascinating this one too South Carolina played really bad against Old Dominion on Saturday but you sort of get the impression that they're not maybe a dead team walking going into Lexington obviously it's the SEC debut for Brock Vandergriff as a starter we're curious about that jaman Dumis Johnson on the other side you know Kentucky getting the advantage here of playing at home but in the midst of what happened for the Gamecocks last week you saw Dylan Stewart kind of demonstrate why he's a pass rusher he was a Top Flight recruit I think Gamecock fans very happy about that I think jorris sers is probably not a great quarterback but Will UGA be watching Kentucky closely on Saturday? rocket Sanders I think has a chance to be a good running back I think this could be a pretty interesting game on Saturday and if Kentucky does handle South Carolina easily then that is a message that they expect to be a formidable Foe for ug there as well there's also some chatter that maybe game day could be in Lexington next week the Wildcats obviously take care of business against South Carolina so a little something to watch for from a game that might be off your radar a little little bit Kentucky South Carolina as a precursor and preview to Georgia's SEC opener make sure you pay attention to that so yesterday on the show we made a very big deal about what I thought was a pretty disappointing comment from Billy nether you know it's like you're the coach you're supposed to be Mr tough guy but a lot of these coaches get very thin skinn when it comes to criticism and in the case of Billy Napier apparently based on his own words here he did not like where some of that criticism was coming from not just the criticism but the fact that supposedly it wasn't coming from a group of people that apparently napor thinks is very sophisticated here's a reminder of this from yesterday and we'll tell you what's new about all this this is Billy Napier we played this for you yesterday we got to go to work on the football part you know and I think we got to get more we got to become a more consistent team and we have to execute better and if we can focus on those things and not necessarily what some guy in his basement saying in you know rural Central Florida on social media Med then we got a chance to get better right so UCF trolls Billy Napier for jab at fans um I told you this yesterday I won't rehash my opinion too much I hate everything about that to me the rule is this as a coach you get millions and millions of dollars but the tradeoff is rural people get to say what they think about you they get to tell you the truth about the job that you're doing and you got to stand there and take it if you can't do that then you're not fit with the job I won't rehash all that but I feel very strongly about that what's funny today though is is I'm not the only one who apparently a little bit bothered by Billy Nabor when it comes to this UCF which kind of exists in a certain part of Central Florida there their big nil fund which is called the kingdom has now made a T-shirt and they are selling these t-shirts that says rural Central Florida with the Kingdom logo there underneath that like how much fun is that and how much do you love the fact that UCF is kind of Twisted the knife here on all of this you know tomorrow on our show we're going to have Jake from and uh Jake today we recorded the interview before the show began today to air tomorrow Jake had a lot to say about Billy Napier and the kind of tough situation he finds himself in the tough situation that Florida finds itself in because Napier is not up to the task of doing this job apparently uh that is a mess here right now such a bad thing that a program like UCF which before all of this was sort of an afterthought in the State of Florida but now they're in the Big 12 they're a power power four program for all intents and purposes they get a chance to play Florida this year having beaten them in a bowl game what a couple of seasons ago and now they're making fun mocking them with a t-shirt there I love everything about that good job by UCF the rural Central Florida uh I think that Napier deserves to be called out for that and I'm glad to see that uh the folks at UCF are there to do that very very funny stuff we'll make that cruising around the SEC courtesy of Royal Caribbean and here in our program time now to bring in the great former Georgia Bulldog terrific personality Davin bellam is a part of dog Nation daily presented by BR Pest Management here today if you missed our dog Nation postgame show on Saturday you got to go back and check this out and see this for yourself because it was I I think a a truly remarkable debut by Davin looking at a fun win for Georgia against Clemson Davin I know you've had a couple more days to think about that since then first of all welcome back here to dog Nation daily uh I guess what are your I guess final takeaways from Georgia against Clemson anything else new on your mind after what we had a chance to talk a good bit about there on Saturday Brandon man how you doing man glad to be back um man kind of want I look at the game man it's it's just kind of you know um Georgia just played really good football you know in my opinion and you know time you know has went on and I you know saying thought about the game and you know we didn't make a mist akes didn't have a lot of penalties you know like I mentioned you know from Carson Beck just very efficient um not trying to force the ball down field uh not trying to win the game in the first quarter you know second quarter and then we switched to the defensive side of the ball you know we always sto the run you know we held them you know in the Run game and you know we took away all their you know explosive plays and that's what it takes you know Former UGA LB Davin Bellamy on Clemson win to be uh really a good football team you know I think that's exactly right and that to me is one of the things that's going to linger for me we just heard a clip from Kirk Herbst stre a little earlier calling that Georgia defense nasty and to me it did look nasty and it was a throwback to like the national championships from a couple of years ago especially 2021 where when you're keeping your opponent out of the end zone as simple as it sounds like you've just contributed to your team's potential for victory so much and that's what they used to be so good at doing which is just not yielding anything and I know cl's got some struggles offensively I understand that but Saturday to me sort of felt like a throwback to a couple of years ago in a way that I know fans really enjoyed right no doubt and if you kind of you know can remember what you know coach smart said you know before the game he mentioned that you know this team isn't as deep as the teams in the past well I think that's just coach smart being coach smart he knew what type of talent you know was on that team and um that's a way of humbling them um you know going into the game so I mean just by coachart saying that uh you know kind of let me know where we were you know in the talent wise cuz he's never going to tell you how good you're doing you know the better you are you know the worse he's going to say you're doing so I mean I just think we were just a better you know football team uh you know we our defense was a Bim but note break you know we got inside the Red Zone a lot and we you know H him the three points and you know it was just really tough for them you know in the second half uh just to get the ball moving so last week when you on the show we talked a little bit about Mel Williams a guy that I think a lot of us have a lot of expectations for here this year and now Mel kind of finds himself in a little bit of a injury situation my presumption is he won't play on Saturday I don't know that for sure but I'm certainly guessing that's probably the case and may not play maybe for a little while here so you know as a football player that kind of has to deal with sort of these type of things and a guy who's you know done some position stuff similar to what you know at times Mel does for Georgia give me an idea of these next few weeks here in terms of you know how do you rest it up how long does something like this take and what can Mel do perhaps to be at his best when Georgia plays its biggest games here coming up what do you think the next couple of weeks look like for Mel probably I think the next you know couple weeks you know for Mel are going to be uh slow um you know we don't really need him this week you know but we do need him but we don't really need him this week I think this we could give some know the other guys uh you know opportunity to go in there and get know some live bullets you know thrown at them because we are going to need those younger guys for our deep season um run but I think right now you know he's uh probably rehabbing you know that ankle you know the first 48 to 72 hours of a of a ankle injury are believe the icing and you know just getting that swelling down and this week um he's probably a little tender so they're going to be easy on how they you know allow him to practice and kind of be light you know on his feet um and really just try to rest some up you know for you know our harder games down in the road no one think that's really interesting the comparison I made is back in 2022 different position of course but you know Jaylen Carter missed a good bit of time for Georgia that year too and by the end of the year gosh she was just you know game wrecker but um you know a really dant player like that had to miss a good bit of time at the beginning of the season so I certainly that's not the case for Mel but if he does miss several weeks if he's able to come back and kind of play at his level when you get to like that really crucial point of the Season it could be coming in at least the the right time if it does play out that way no doubt and knowing you know coach smart he's very smart so he's not going to force male you know back on the field or force him during practice to do things that's going to make his body uh you know go back so like I said you know we don't really need him this week but we have a tough schedule really in the SEC like we always do so that's kind of my thing man just you know sit them on ice and you know bring them back we need them so we talked a little bit earlier before you joined us about you know kind of freshman obviously guy like Nate Fraser gets in has a really good game Saturday KJ Balon had a couple of moments when he flashed on defense and you know Kirby this week also said listen I know it seems like we're playing a good bit of freshman but you know we sort of have to because you know maybe now because of the transfer portal things like that rosters across college football aren't maybe quite as deep as they used to be so I mean listen you were at one point in time we a young player as a veteran you played with younger players what's kind of the difference between a freshman who can play early and maybe a guy who's not quite ready to do that yet and you know as a team how do you use a game like Saturday to kind of grow more trust in some of those young players who you really may have to call on in a big way before this season is done right you know there's only one way you know to get better and that's through reps you get reps through practice and then there's also another way to get better even more and that's through game reps cuz practice reps aren't like game reps but just knowing how Georgia you know competes and how Georgia you know prepares uh those freshmen are going against other five-star guys every day at practice and the way I know that coach Mark you know operates um that practice is full speed and they try to get it to as rep you know as possible so those guys are getting the live reps during practice the the more thing about being a Freshman is you know your maturity level off the field you know these guys now these athletes are different man you know these guys are coming in in college and they're basically ready from a athletic standpoint um just with all the training they have now you know so they're coming in and they're already ready now it's just maturity you know how slow is the game for you and just the discipline that we have as a program on and off the field um really helps those guy help those guys mature enough to where they can play on the field so like a game like Saturday um you know in Clemson Everyone's Watching great program U what more else do you want to start off your you know college career you got to think about it the guys that are you know played last week and then come into a game in this week you can imagine how their mind is you know I played in Clemson um the Dome it was rocking and now I have this game where you know the opponent is not really up to Clemson level so just the mindset of that player is you know what if I was able to run for 50 yards against Clemson I know I can run for 50 yards this Saturday yeah and that just and that's the mentality of it um it kind of reminds me you know when I was you know with the Houston Texans and you know I was on practice squad and I was going against ly tonsil every day well that still sticks with me now even when I do my spring League ball I'm like you know I was going against ly tonsil for two years every day this guy right here shouldn't be that tough and so I think that's kind of the thing how these guys are you know thinking especially you know at practice you know they're practicing against other five stars you know and they're building their confidence there and then just the game they had now it's all about you know keeping them humble and letting them know you have not you know arrived yet and I think coachart is going to do a great job I think that's a really fascinating uh uh point to make Davin and obviously a great way for us to leave it uh here today really really good stuff from you looking ahead to what's going to happen on Saturday and speaking of Saturday for our dog Nation postgame show we'll get to hear more thoughts from you we hope it's a big Georgia win we hope it's a chance where a lot of guys get a chance to play and some of that young Talent can be show and then Georgia on to Kentucky the SEC opener after that we will look forward to seeing you as a part of our dog Nation postgame show and a part of our pregame coverage there as well so big big presence for Davin Bellamy on Game Day Davin we love having you a part of what we're doing here and we'll look forward to hearing more from you coming up on Saturday yes sir man appreciate you Brandon and go dogs go dogs indeed great stuff there from Davin belly a part of our pregame coverage with Kaye Manzel before the game and then with me for that dog Nation postgame show after the game there as well terrific stuff and we're talking about programming notes Here let me also remind you tonight uh brand new time for before the hedges presented by Kroger coming up 7 PM Jeff santel Kaylee Manzel they'll give you all the latest ug recruiting news ahead of you know chance for some visitors coming up on Saturday but also a few folks in the building for the Georgia game against Clemson they will give all of that coming up to you tonight 700 p.m. dog Nation video channels for before the edge just presented by Kroger brand new time for that all right as we say goodbye here today A couple of golden shoes plenty of mockery still out there for some of the teams around College B have got off to a pretty slow start uh including Florida State so Greg Baker shared this with me I guess Swanky Wolverine I guess makes the meme here you see the Pentagon the hexagon the octagon and the season gone for Florida State after an 0 and2 start perhaps that is the cas very funny uh Greg Baker thank you for sharing we'll give you a golden shoe for that and swanky Wolverine who put that up on X himself there who probably doesn't even know who we are but nonetheless uh very funny stuff there a couple of golden shoes going out that way also if you've ever wanted to see what is perhaps the worst photo maybe I've ever taken uh ug uh Le doog shares this saying uh dog Nation daily was front center today for the dog walk I've got the receipts I don't know if you're watching on video you obviously see this if you're not you you don't know what I'm talking about here but it is a quite a look of what is Golden Shoe / Gator Hater that surprise I guess you would say for me not quite so sure what all that was but I I do know it's always a challenge sort of work yourself over to where you're supposed to be for the dog walk and uh and there's a a great group of Georgia fans who also kind of help me get through the crowd because security is obviously asking questions about this you know fat dude trying to you know crawl his way down to the to the bottom where the team's going to come out but uh they were like no this guy's legit we watch him every day uh so I was I was appreciative of that but apparently I also gave at some point time a pretty wild look and I would say the meme potential on that is probably pretty strong so uh pretty pretty funny stuff ug Le doogs will give you a golden shoe for helping me stay humble by seeing such a horrendous picture of myself that is very funny indeed and the lousy stinking Gators plenty to laugh at when it comes to them there as well it's been 1397 days since they have beaten the Georgia Bulldogs we love that the folks in rural Central Florida apparently they hate it UCF is mocking them for it we're here for that there as well good job by RS Andrews Cool Down the kns and all that then we'll take care of business ourselves later on this fall there in Jacksonville we'll see all of you back here tomorrow dog Nation daily presented by braa past management and on video time now for the RS Andrews cool down RS Andrews one you turn two for your air conditioning heating Plumbing and Electric needs they show up on time they do the work that's promised the price that's promised you can trust RS Andrews on all of that so take a couple of spins around the comment section here today and then we're going to get ready for a busy day around dog Nation after that there as well [Music] um let's see what else a DT happy to see DAV and belly looking sharp you better believe that's the case k dog predicts that UCF after trolling Florida will also beat them by double digits later on this season boy that'd be a painful thing uh Roger Hall checking in from uh San Antonio um K dog says napers done mess with the wrong neighborhood yeah I mean listen I I don't like it I I told you that yesterday and we try to keep things lighthearted and fun but stuff like that crawls all over me it really does especially for a guy who ought to know better and I'm sorry as I said yesterday as a coach you got a lot of power you got a lot of power to protect yourself from a lot of things you've got money and with money you don't have to worry about a lot of the stuff that the rest of us have to worry about grocery prices and gas prices you don't even have to worry about any of that I I guarantee there's not a coach in the SEC that knows what a gallon of meal costs I just guarantee you they don't have any idea and they shouldn't they should be worried about you know what it what they do that funds their life they don't need to be worried about groceries because they're worried about different things but they don't have to worry about stuff like that what the rest of us do they're not worried about paying bills like so many of the rest of us are you get that privilege and luxury because being an SEC football coach you also have a lot of authority to sort of in um eliminate certain inconveniences from your life you know if you don't like so and so you can build a wall between yourself and so and so right like you've just got some power be able to do that but what you don't have is the power to be able to tell rural people I don't care what you think because rural people get to tell you whatever they want to say now you don't have to listen to it necessarily but they're going to say it nonetheless uh and the difference between like say rural people and what would be by perception more sophisticated people is is the closer you get to Billy Napier the more people need something from Billy Napier right and so you either get some sort of status from Napier some sort of access to Napier perhaps compensation from Napier the closer you get to the BigTime football coach the more you're willing to tell that BigTime football coach whatever he wants to hear and this is kind of the problem that that certain coaches have it's like eventually they lose their perspective on life because the people around them are just constantly feeding them what they want to hear you know it's like uh uh the old adage about if all you do is surround yourself with people who tell you what you want to hear eventually you'll be surrounded by people that don't have anything to say or something along those lines and that's kind of what it is but the farther you get from your kind of concentric circles the farther you get the so-called rural people they've got nothing to gain from telling you what you want to hear they're just going to tell you the truth you're not winning and you're not you're embarrassing the program by getting blown out by Florida if they don't need access to you or they don't seek compensation from you all they're going to do is just tell you the truth and that's why a lot of these coaches grow to hate so-called rural people is because the so-called rural people have nothing in the game other than to call it like it is um so yeah Randy Al says George got a five-star commit from women's basketball uh yeah there you go like what is this facial expression that is pretty rough right there um that's that's pretty rough right there that's the look on my face when somebody says that George is gonna play a close game against Clemson are you serious I'm not even sure I could make that face again but I I'm glad to know that uh that listen stuff like this it's important to stay humble right it's important to stay humble and photos like this definitely keep me humble so yeah that's right copyright DAV and Bellamy humble yourself this is my humble yourself moment right there because those are the kinds of photos I'm apparently capable of of taking so so there you go very very funny stuff indeed all right on YouTube Here For a Moment uh Philip well says power to the rural people I'm right there with you on that yeah this show listen and listen some of y'all are very sophisticated I talked to a guy on Saturday he's like uh you know graduate from Cal he's a lawyer he's you know you know uh kind of B Coastal in terms of where he lives I love like sophisticated people too I'm very thankful to have you know uh them and you know our advertisers certainly love all of our audience members with their you know very high socioeconomic status and you know large degree of discretionary income they love all that right very very thankful for those who help you know fund the program and by programing me the show um but in many ways the spirit of this show is rural people because I grew up a rural person I'm still a rural person um uh the spirit of this it's like um uh you know irk Russell talked about how like uh the the railroad people remember that great thing from him a few years ago the railroad people um you know we're sort of the the we're sort of railroad people around here rural people around here for sure [Music] um Jonathan Aaron says me living here in rural Central Georgia love that Florida State and the Gators are both down bad yeah enjoying that no doubt for sure uh Alex line says do we think that Frasier can break a 75 yard touchdown run on Saturday it's been a while since the running back has broke one loose that far yet it seems like Georgia doesn't quite have like the real long runs like it used to this Stadium would come UNG glued on Saturday if it happened though I'd love to see it I'd love to see it uh Richard guy says uh if dogs have a solid Run game in defense and Beck stats are good not eye popping could he still make it in New York City if he makes big plays against all the big opponents at clutch moments yes I think that um I I think that Becks like there are a few different kinds of players win the Heisman Trophy you have like uh Jaden Daniels last year who sort of did it the eye popping stats way but the other template that's out there is kind of best player on best team way and even if backck is heading for a really high draft you know pick in the upcoming NFL draft I think be chance best chance of of becoming a Heisman finalist or winning the Heisman is actually kind of similar to Carson uh excuse me ston bed a couple of years ago and that sort of template we have for hey best player on best team so to speak because oftentimes not actually the best player but the most recognizable player from the best team maybe better said if Beck gets to New York it's going to be on that kind of trajectory just the most recognizable player for um you know for what's perhaps the best team in the country I will say if I'm being completely honest and maybe at some point in time this week we'll talk about it I do think Beck needs to play a little better I I don't know that Beck had a great game on Saturday I'm not picking on him I mean obviously the overall results are pretty good but um I I do think the I think the Beck needs to be a little sharper than he was in the first quarter I think um Mike Brown says he's about as rural as it gets listen I'm all I'm all there for that for sure I mean like I said I grew up like the place I grew up as kind of a suburb of Atlanta now uh Hall County but when I grew up there it was as country as you could get and I live in the heart of I mean I live in the in the country now I mean you know you know farmland for as far as you can see um so yeah uh mg loving DAV and Bellamy uh saying him and Lorenzo Carter were insane yeah two of our favorites for sure two of our favorites for sure Matt Presley says Arion didn't have the 50- yard touchdown but love seeing how Bobo got him involved big season for him yeah I think there's a lot to like about that and that kind of I guess you call it what like the Z receiver on kind of the what you think of as like the field side far side of the field uh you know the wider side of the field typically speaking um that could be a pretty interesting position for Georgia here this year I think they want to rotate there some I believe Anthony Evans is the guy we're GNA eventually hear from in that spot there too so what they do with that position you typically kind of Reserve for your speedier receiver perhaps I think that could get pretty interesting and as you said you know the sort of shorter stuff to Arion is not just an interesting offensive wrinkle it is also perhaps a way of um you know kind of helping him build his confidence up which could be a good thing too so yeah Scott Pete says let's say 60 on he says let's lay 60 on the Gators right there with the on that um Philip well says Hall County is definitely a suburb today yeah I mean it's changed so much when I grew up there I mean it's I mean you know obviously Atlanta as as a metropolitan area keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger Hall County is certainly you know felt the effects of that but when I grew up there it wouldn't like that um Jonathan Aon says I'm not as Ral as him right there in Hawkinsville yeah leson Hawkinsville is a great place aie says what part of Hall County I grew up in South Hall County I went to Johnson high school so like Oakwood area um that's kind of where I grew up right there Lance D says East Hall to steal the sticks yeah a little bit a little bit I guess all right let's go to Facebook here for a moment take couple more trips around these comment sections here today U let's see what else how about this Daniel ald says I have not had a haircut since uh Georgia won the national championship wow Daniel that's a long time he says I'm afraid to cut it now because it might it might hurt him yeah you're like Samson George is getting its strength from your hair I guess so there you go William kamano says I've got the dogs winning 373 over as he calls it Tennessee Technology I like that I like that I would say that's probably pretty close about what I'm thinking for Saturday Johnny Prescott asked interesting question he says of the SEC cup C game blowout winners last week who do you believe in Mo B Tennessee Auburn Oklahoma Texas Missouri Kentucky or Old Miss I think the the two games that I took the most from were Oklahoma blowing out Temple and Tennessee blowing out Chattanooga because here's what I'm of the belief of right now we're going to see Tennessee in a pretty interesting game on the road as slightly more than a touchdown favorite against NC State on Saturday if we believe that LSU showed some deficiencies and if we believe that A&M showed some deficiencies both those teams lost high-profile non-conference games they were teams that were kind of thought to be slotted you know in kind of that sort of middle tier the secc then other teams could benefit from that I'd watch Tennessee and I'd watch Oklahoma I really would I'd pay close attention to both those teams perhaps having a chance to move up a little bit if it is that LSU and uh and A&M are kind of moving down so I mean I think that Nico is earning a lot of rave reviews I've told you before I like Jackson Arnold of the blowout games I probably take the most from those two Greg Baker loves having Davin Bell me on the show Greg I'm happy to hear that are you the same Greg Baker that also won the Golden Shoe today I apologize for not knowing that are you the same one that's really cool if it is the case um uh let me read this Scotty Barn says if we must revisit the punishment of Georgia players I believe we need to remember that we are talking about 18 23 year old young men should we not have some compassion for them they are young men um I totally agree with that for the most part um you know I've told you before that have I talked long enough about stuff like this I'd make everybody mad on both sides of the issue because on the one hand I really do believe that over the course of the last couple of years the law enforcement related to traffic issues got pretty LAX and if you look at the national stats traffic fatalities and things like that started going up and that's not good like nobody wants to get pulled over I hate getting pulled over I have a tendency to probably drive a little too aggressively nobody wants to get pulled over and you you kind of want to be you know sort of a I guess civil libertarian about some of this kind of stuff of like hey man if we're all getting where we need to go just of our business let us drive but the stats actually Bear it out that when the police are a little bit more aggressive about traffic stops Public Safety goes up there are less traffic accidents there are certainly less traffic fatalities and so I'm in favor of pretty aggressive policing of aggressive driving a lot of you are not I am I don't care how fast you drive I don't like the darting in between the lanes and I feel like the last couple of years this is just anecdotal but I sort of feel like the last couple of years we've got a lot more especially on these highways around Atlanta where I've been driving mostly a lot of darting kind of like from Lane to Lane cutting way over and way over I hate that kind of stuff I can't stand it I I think those people ought to be arrested I do um I think that's as close to an act of violence as you know most of us are ever going to experience someone who drives that aggressively around you I have no problem with that being very very aggressively policed not everybody agrees with that that's my opinion but when it comes to football coaches you know this sort of old adage about you know the coach is supposed to be sort of the judge jury and executioner of bad behavior for the players in some respects I sort of think that's the police's job I really do and as I told you before I'm in favor of aggressive policing um I just sort of am when it comes to coaches you know I'm not as much into that I just am I just am not the one thing I will say about the Trevor etn thing because this got brought up to me after we talked about this last week because I told you last week I didn't think etn should be suspended and I don't like the idea of someone else other than Kirby Smart allegedly making that decision the one thing that's a little bit of an extenuating circumstance for the etn thing is allegedly I guess you know I'm not always all that well versed in some of these details is that etn did try to F did try to flee the police right that's that's that's the uh the allegation here on that right and that's a little bit different uh for me in terms of how it perhaps should be handled somebody kind of pointed that out to me and perhaps that's worth considering a situation like that but for the most part Scotty you'll notice hopefully if you've been with us for a long time it's like when soand so player from some program gets into a little bit of trouble we don't say anything about that we're just not we've got plenty to talk about without like taking it back to the 1990s of a Fulmer Cup who's getting in trouble haahaa we just don't just don't really care I don't really care and there's nothing any you know older like more out of style than like the obsession that the one Clemson had with like the graduation rates you know clearly not understanding that graduation rates are a years old by the time we get a chance to hear about them don't reflect players who either transfer out of the program or go to the NFL but at the same time I don't even I don't even care enough to even argue it right it's like I I just simply do not care about most of that kind of stuff and one thing I try to tell some of y'all is is you have a choice to care about whatever you choose to care about and you don't have to care about something just because somebody thinks you're supposed to and like at any given time what like rival fan of ug is trying to get you to care about it's your free will and free choice about whether or not you choose to care about that or not so um Alan verbanic says why does etn dress out if he is suspended well look this is just George's way of not revealing too much information and Kirby did say this yesterday he had the little dust up yesterday uh that you know part of that sort of protecting the reputation of a young man in Kirby's telling of it why he's not more forthcoming about that and the dressed out they do this with injured players sometimes too the dressed out nature of all of this is just an example of trying to go to Great pains to conceal uh some of that kind of stuff um all right couple final comments and we've got to go um see what else uh Jimbo slice bread says the more ba says allegedly it makes me think about some episode of some sort of show I mean part of the reason why I say allegedly so much is like I just don't care about very much of this kind of stuff so I don't really get into the details all that much of stuff like this I just really just I don't know I don't know I'm I'm just not that into it um and so I have to say allegedly because I'm trying to remember the facts because I just don't walk around with a Rolodex of those kind of facts because as I said before no one's going to tell me what I need to care about and if I choose not to care about it uh that is my business and for the most part that's what I do um and you know same thing um you know I don't know let me just let me just drop that uh let me go back to dog nation.com for a minute DT says a group in Miami darting in and out of lanes is just normal there everybody's aggressive yeah so I mean I feel like I'm a pretty aggressive driver but there's a difference between darting between two lines and not that that to me is a crime that's not a driving infraction that's a crime um when and I I I saw it yesterday I see this all the time um I drive aggressive I have tendency to drive too close to people I change lanes a lot I don't Dart in between cars across two lines of traffic I don't um I think I think that's a violation of somebody else's personal safety which is essentially what the essence of crime is and I think it ought to be treated like a crime and so as I said before um if I talked about this kind of stuff long enough I'd make everybody mad because I am probably in favor of more aggressing aggressive policing than the average person might be and not quite as into you know disciplinarian coach as the average person might be that when you talk about bad behavior to me that's a criminal justice issue more so than a coaching discipline issue and that is not everybody's way but that is my way um Randy Hall predicts that Texas will beat Michigan yeah I would put Michigan to a similar category of like Florida State in terms of teams that had some accolades coming into the year they're going to have a hard time living up to that all right final couple of comments we've got to go um Walt okay um okay what let's take one more and get out of here all right let me wrap up
