thankfully no weather like that here we did have a couple of little showers mainly north of 460 towards the highlands Southern shenoa and even one little rogue shower near Lynchburg earlier today it is now here at 11:15 a clean sweep on the radar you'll notice a couple of showers uh into areas just north of Pocahontas County in West Virginia as we do expand this picture for you just a little bit I do want to show you our next weather maker and it's in plain view we've got showers and thunderstorms from uh near Pittsburgh all the way west towards areas near Kansas City what's going to happen is this front is going to dip to the South and as it does it's going to be more of a player in our weather as we go into Thursday Friday and what that means for us is a better chance for some scattered showers and thunderstorms at that point you will also notice that the air is going to feel stickier it's going to be very oppressive outside for us here for the next few days the Heat's one reason why the other reason is the high humidity whenever you see green overhead on this map that is never a good sign if you're not a fan of the humidity because uh anytime you have this green as an indicator of moisture and it means that we're going to have heat index values likely or feel like temperatures likely above 100° in some areas going into tomorrow and also as we go into the day on Thursday now you'll notice in the corner of your screen that the air is drier towards the Rocky Mountain States eventually cooler drier air is going to punch in as we head into potentially either late weekend or early next week futurecast shows that tonight we are going to be for the most most part dry maybe a rogue shower into our northernmost counties tomorrow starts dry too I think we're going to have a little bit of fog developing tonight bear that in mind first thing in the morning otherwise tomorrow afternoon we're going to have a couple more showers and thunderstorms developing best chance for those will likely be in areas again North of Highway 460 closer to this front otherwise tomorrow night fog again forms we start out Thursday with some sunshine and potentially some reduced visibilities but because this front is going to be almost overhead for us on Thursday that will mean a better chance for some passing showers and thunderstorms so again I think Thursday could be a day where we have a couple of strong to severe thunderstorms to track around here because of that front being in close proximity to us temperatur stand for us right now 66 in wiv a little cooler in pilas a little warmer in blackburg hot spot right now Rono at 79 it's even 76 in hot spring 75 in Lynchburg pretty balmy outside right now and as we look at the setup here for the next couple of days notice that the oranges aren't going anywhere we're going to have a system starting to impact the planes and that again could uh provide a little bit of relief for us here by next week but really the setup is such that uh for Wednesday and as we go into Thursday and as we go into Friday temperatures are likely going to be above average but the two hottest days for us will be tomorrow and Thursday could get close if not break record highs tomorrow forecasting high of 97 in ronoke also in Lynchburg the record is 98 set back in 1948 I don't think you're going to break records in Danville or blackburg but you could in the Star City and also in the Hill City we'll see what happens tomorrow overnight tonight 60s lower 70s partly cloudy patchy fog pretty warm pretty muggy out there for tomorrow we're looking at highs about 97 the 3 HS are most certainly in the forecast for us a few late day showers or thunder showers possible but most of us tomorrow do look dry more of us get wet Thursday and Friday and Saturday lower chances for rain Sunday but unsettle weather really Thursday through Sunday by next week we're not only going to turn cooler and less humid but we're going to be drier with more sunshine to enjoy looking at those four unsettled days Thursday through Sunday the two wetest out of those four look to be Thursday and Saturday
