welcome to Monroe Louisiana Malone Stadium home to the ULM warhawks and fans have been getting ready for this one pretty much all week we're really looking forward to this matchup you've got a team that's made its way into the top 25 now trying to pass an all important road test [Music] [Music] the warhawks will put total we and we'll get started on the move from inside is five he was looking for more Running Room but to be found as he stopped at the 23 all right guys here's our first look at this offense today and here's the man they rally around and he has earned that type of respect David you dang right you earn it by doing it and he's done it in such a high level everyone believes in this young man in Palmer there's a reason why you're right David he's been in the big moments and he's won the big games this guy delivers when the game is on the line got eight on first down now looking at a second and two leaves it with the back nice move to keep moving and a really nice run and pick up there before the defense avoided disaster and stopped the really big play pulls and throws off the RPO they make the stop at the sweet Brewing Cates plenty to give him a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs the give to the backat and the defense holds F no pickup at all on that play got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 they'll ride the running back and leave it with him they ripped off seven on that one now a third down and three trying to pick up a first down they'll try to power their way ahead he's dropped by behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three and here comes the punt team you ought to be able to use this first punt to pin him deep and that one will Sail Out of Bounds no chance for a return there the warhawks offense has the ball for the first time here are our impact players for this game and it goes beyond executing an assignment to make an impact in the game yeah obviously we were talking to both coaching staffs this week week and we asked them who needs to step up and play well they immediately pointed to these guys right here they are the key for their respective teams yeah they don't always show up in the Box world but these are the guys are the leaders these are the guys getting everybody organized and have to play well for their team to succeed Smith takes the hand off ripping off a pretty good chunk of yardage they've got it out to the 41 with a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs comes out throwing on first down looking deep PS it in plenty of room on that play and they find their way to the 36 and the warhawks are in the hurry up well it's a nice play design there you're getting the running back involved in the pass game quarterback gives it to him early so he can go to work up field and get the first down from the gun give on the inside he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple line getting set on second down moving the running back trying to get the D to tip its hand and the Freshman does a great job using his technique in getting the man on the ground third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off got his Man Down field that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the stop from the Red Zone it's Smith relying on the Run he gets a couple before he's knock down balls at the 13 going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone not much Running Room he's got one down to the 12 boy they'd love to pick up this conversion and go to work with a first and goal on third down he drops the throw he's got they make the stop end the two but he's got enough to give them a first and goal so so close to cashing it in for this offense he'll do it himself and he'll race it to the house touchdown warhawks it's what makes this offense so hard to stop you've got an athletic quarterback you got to worry about him in the running game and on the option he makes the right decision keeping it and caps off the opening drive of the game with the [Music] TD the unit on the field on for the extra point and the extra point is good and it's 7 nothing almost ready to kick it away after after scoring the [Applause] touchdown and here's the return didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the offense set for a first down play they'll go to the ground and this one will be stopped for No Gain they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 will try the right side he stopped again they went right back to him and he still found no Running Room at all third down on third down going up top throws to the tight end he makes a catch it's a game of first downs and they've got one after their own 37 hard work pays off Guys these offenses work so hard week in and week out working on those critical down distances third downs and having that conversion this early in the game that's got to feel good for this [Applause] offense they make the stop but not before they do their work up top and pick up a first down after picking up a couple of first downs already on this drive they'll snap it from close to Midfield fires to the tight end got a lot of Running Room he'll be brought down at the three yd line an explosive play in the passing game has him on the doorstep well after that last play you can see how electrifying this guy is and how special he is after he makes the catch if I'm on offense I'm trying to find a lot of ways to get him touches in this [Applause] game time winding down in the quarter as they come to the line keeping it on the ground on first and goal he bullies his way into the end zone for a touchdown I love running backs that have a nose for the goal line understand how to get there finish strong into the end zone know I get six and then go celebrate with your boys ready to try the point after for the ex [Applause] bangs it through for an extra point so that scoring Drive took only six plays and closed the deal with a three- yd touchdown run and we're all square as he's set to kick it away coming out with it it's Smith they make the Stop and that's how the first quarter will end we played one and we are right back where we started all tied up after the first period as we take a look at the [Music] stats that first quarter set the standard and we hope we get a lot more of that here in the second you Monroe has it back on the offense ready to go to work that last drive an absolute aerial assault for the touchdown Jesse and it was a nice job in play calling too David just giving the quarterback some easy looks and reads so he could go out in that and he knew exactly where to go football everything looked really really easy he was hot the ball was coming out of his hands the defense better do something different he'll be stopped at the 27 but picks up 10 on that one now on First and 10 from the 27 looking to pass it's Moody just let him a little too far and it looks as if they buzzed down replay wants to have another peek at that last play and you know the standard is indisputable video evidence and the officials will change the call now they're starting to feel it they've got a first down at the 44 the warhawks come to the line with a fresh set of downs he'll keep it himself they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one lost one on that last one it's second and 11 second down coming up they'll try by the run and a nice solid pick up there before the defense wrestles him to the ground lining up to convert third down from the gun wants to pass and he drops it just took his eye off of it at the last minute and the warhawks will send out the punt unit first punt of the day and he'd love to lock him up close to their goal line and it'll be down right there first and 10 from inside their own five you got to take care of the ball but there is room to take a shot here they'll leave it with him very useful run there to get away from the goal line he'll pick up four out to the six solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six give to the running back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one guys they not going to give off on picking up the first down but they also need some breathing room for the [Applause] punter power football with the run and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop they bring the pter onto the field now this will be the second time they've had to kick it away he's got great speed really good job on the coverage team to make to stop and that's where they'll put it in play guys we'll see what this war hawk offense can get done this time to the air on first down got him in it's Griffin and just a short safe pass play they pick up a few it's now second down after the short completion he leaves it with his back and he was able to run through one tackle but still only a modest gain offense breaks the Huddle on third down coming up back to pass it's booty fires deep toward the end zone and to the house touchdown U Monroe number7 in the end [Music] they'll try to add another to their lead and the pat gives him a 14-7 lead quick strike offense on that three play scoring drive and the finisher coming on that 42 yd touchdown toss he'll bring it back from inside his five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 now this offense is back on the [Applause] field good job to avoid the negative play and just get rid of that thing after the incompletion looking at second down running back goes in motion quick strike complete M coach said don't never go broke Tak the prop take what's there take the positive yards and never complain third down coming now on the counter he's able to fight his way for a couple of yards but it'll be fourth down in three the clock has reached the two-minute Mark and they have a chance to at least cut into this lead before the break fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way and he'll work his way on the return out to the 35 yd line before he stopped you will Monroe has back on the offense ready to go to work Jesse a very productive Drive last time wound up with a touchdown yeah mixing and matching play calling really well nice balance on that last one Dave we'll see what they can do here in this next Drive yeah and I don't expect anything different when you put together a drive like that I would do more of the same keep the pace keep it going trying to make magic with his feet and he gets out of there and gets some yardage and gets down without taking any punishment just inside the the 35 first and 10 from the 34 quickly complete at the 20 he's got space and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play this defense has got to be better in coverage you want to get off the field you got to keep defending you got to do something to make the offense feel uncomfortable so far way too easy for this offense the warhawks will line it up on First and 10 gives it to the back on the draw he's Dro behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three the offense waste no time getting the timeout call going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down it's complete to the left they go up top to get it down to the 5 yd line as they try to pay off this drive the offense calls timeout is the second one they've used this half looking to throw it's moty going for six ball into the end zone and it's intercepted well coming into this game this offense knew that points were going to be at of Premium if you can't score touchdowns down here in the Red Zone you at least got to come away with field goals but you can't do that if you're throwing interceptions that's just poor execution by the offense and the offense back on the field ready to dial up ball [Applause] plates looking to move it through the air gets it out fast finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down a new set of downs after the completion first the they'll throw it on first down unloads to the wide out finds a man by himself really nice job there by both guys to throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer he's going to pass pressure in his face and he lets it Fly hit hard just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver after the incompletion they go back up top just had to get rid of that one good job to fight another play now facing a third and long from the 50yd line from the gun wants to pass makes a connection they've got the defense reeling right now with that big play to the 29 we got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the break losts to throw on first down takes a hit as he fires can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down they'll throw again after the incompletion [Applause] it's complete on the right side they'll use a timeout right before halftime maybe time for one or two more plays and it's third down but they're going to go ahead and try the field goal and try to get points before the break splitz the upright it's good [Music] so they get the late field goal right before the half and not much time after this kickoff for an answer from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position he make the Stop and that is the end of the first half that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halftime update fellas you've had yourselves one great broadcast so far today there in Monroe and it's been said football is a game of inches and guess what based on the comparison between third down conversion rate today and the average yard per play how can you argue that I mean the low-lying fruit is to look at some of the explosive plays we've seen in panic but really this game is going to come down to which team is more efficient when they have the ball and how they play when it matters most and just like that let's head back to our team inside Malone Stadium kickoff and kickoff return teams on the field and we are just about ready to go in the second half he'll start the return inside his SP just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 guys we'll see what this Warhawk offense can get done this time they'll start this third quarter with a run barrels all the way to the 29 a gain of six 6yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four pulls it and fires to the left didn't pick up a lot there moved it Forward just a few ball sitting right at the 30 it'll be third and [Applause] short they'll try to get it through the air fires to the wide out and the pass H picked off trying to take it back and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception that's why you love veterans in this defense they stay locked in on their rules and he made the pick on first down here comes this [Applause] offense the give to the back makes one man miss and he's able to shed one tackle and gets a pretty good pickup good spot after that seven yd pickup on first down it's second and three the inside hand off they get him on the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down here comes the off defense on first down the quarterback on the keeper not a whole lot of room there three yds maybe second and seven going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone and he's stuck by that big defensive tackle up front the terrain gets rough this deep in the Red Zone third down they can't pick up the first without scoring he makes your grab he's got it and he goes into the end zone for the touchdown a quick strike just as do we expect yeah and quick strikes are easy when you got such a great field position obviously when the offense starts in such a good spot puts the defense in a bad position and the offense takes [Music] advantage ling up to add another is on for the extra [Applause] and the extra point puts him up by a field goal a very efficient five play scoring drive and they close the deal with the seven Y for the score here he comes from inside his own five good job by the coverage unit to put a stop to that return you will Monroe has it back in the offense ready to go to work one of the most valuable things a quarterback can have David shortterm memory just forget that last pitch you dang right clear the mechanism it's over move it behind some players can't do that real well and it leads to more mistakes Jess and you got to just forget about it and move on and I think the coaching staff can help him too David I think you can get the running game going here and also give him some easy throws and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunck of yardage is picked up man this offense is so dangerous Reese they've got dudes all over the field that can make plays there's a big gainer in the pass game you get a chunk of yards like that now the defense is really on its heels and the warhawks moving quickly to the line PS and fires it complete to the right they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker BR up second quick release on the RPO and they reacted well to the completion but it was too late to keep them from getting the first [Applause] down here's a quick throw out the left he's brought down quickly minimal game there still a bit short of the first [Applause] down from the shotgun the inside K they've got it inside the Third they'll mark it at the 28 it's first down the warhawks come to the line with a new set of downs used the play fake now to throw missed his receiver there it's incomplete they're about to snap it for the seventh time on this [Music] drive they'll go back to the air on second down got it in the middle it's Bailey he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they they've got enough for the first down and the warhawks are threatening in the Red Zone from the gun the running back has it give him six on the play he'll mark it at the nine operating in the Red Zone here on second down bring up second [Applause] down leaves it with the running back he pushes his way down to the four as they get closer and closer the warhawks will try to punch it in on first and goal he'll pull it on the read he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple after getting nothing done on first down second and goal from the six fires to the end zone touchdown War Hawks and with that they've got the lead here in the second half wow what a play we got we're going to need to see that again to make sure he makes this catch he gets the foot in bounds that was a great acrobatic play understanding where you're at on the field to make that big [Music] catch lining up to attack one more onto that lead extra [Applause] point and the extra point is good and it's a four-point lead they put it in the end zone with a 12pl scoring Drive and they get it into the end zone with a 6yd touchdown [Applause] pass and he takes this from inside the five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 you can feel the momentum starting to swing in this Stadium it's first and 10 getting that push they pick up a four out to the 26 after the productive first down Play It's second and six off the play fake and he'll Chuck it into the cheap seats there and save the down nobody getting open there they're going to keep this drive going they'll have to make a play on Third and long from the 26 and they did not let him get to that first down line it'll bring up a call here HTE makes its way onto the field they'll work to pin him deep running it back it's Curry he gets it up to the 34 yd line before he stopped and that's where the offense will set up shot opening play of this drive comes from the 34 he wants to throw can't hang on and he'll tell you he really should have made that catch and he had an opportunity right in the middle it'll be second down out of the gun to give to the back just a Savvy veteran productive run from the this junior offense set on first [Applause] down they'll ride the hot hand there to make the tackle and with that we'll head to the fourth quarter and talk about spreading the ball around everyone getting a chance to show off the hands based on the number of targets we've [Music] seen one quarter to go and might we have the makings of a classic fourth quarter [Applause] finish and that's going to fall to the ground incomplete that was a physical matchup there third down coming scanning the field it's moty and it's intercepted a huge fourth quarter play for this defense and a big return after the int sets up the offense for this possession what a play by the defense there trailing here in the fourth quarter by one possession able to steal it away now and put their offense in position to at least go tie this game and the offense heads out onto the field to get the drive start he Wast no time and comes out throwing the quick out they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground cover to pick up the first BR up second he'll do it himself and they try the middle of this Stout defense and they rise to the challenge much formation for these receivers give to the back and he'll be taken down but he does have enough for the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs he'll keep it himself and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that going to work on second down in the red zone and still some ground to cover to pick up that first down quarterback on the keeper solid fundamentals on that tackle from this freshman third and long and they'll need to get it close to the goal line to convert from the gun wants to pass he took a hit as he threw it and couldn't deliver the football it's incomplete and fourth Down's coming so here we are on fourth down and this field goal kicker is going to face all the pressure in the world kick is good the offense has three points to show for the drive and that's massive all the pressure on your defense now you've made the field goal you you got to get the ball back you need one more hit that's what you need and so the defense has to be ready to take the field right now play with intensity play with energy and get it back to the offense [Music] quickly so they were able to put up a three spot on that last drive and now the kickoff team out there as they prepare to put boot to leather and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return turn guys we'll see what this war hawk offense can get done this time they'll keep it on the ground they want this clock to move crosses the 30 to the 31 and a 6yd pickup clock continues to run and they'll be happy to wind it all the way down before they snap it here's the handoff he's got it out to the 37 after gaining five they've got it at the 37 it's first and 10 [Applause] they'll run it from the gun and the defense snows him under after a very short gain after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven they've got him looking run now they're going to throw it just masterful working that sideline and getting the toe down for the catch you know it's hard enough just to catch passes in college football but but to do it while also being cognizant of where you are in the field and making sure you get a foot down in bounds that's really impressive and the warhawks are flying down the field he's got it on the right they pick up half of it it'll be second and five we reached a two-minute warning and this offense trying to milk this clock and keep time on their side and off from the gun runs for the tackle didn't get much done on that run he'll fight his way out and maybe maybe pick up a yard this is a big third down if they can move the chains they can just about salt this game away dropping back it's Moody throws to the wide out complete to the left quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense the warhawks have it with a first and 10 the offense showing motion from the tight end trying to get a read on the D the give on the inside shakes off a tackle timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible on second down let's see if they go right back to the run and put this game on Ice give to the running back touchdown you El Monro and they take it in for six more points up and over yo be there into the end zone and you don't want to leave your feet very often in football but this is one of those areas where you do in the End Zone near the goal line you spell it a lot of bodies in front of you just get up get over top of them get that [Music] tle and he splits the upright and pushes the lead to eight here in the fourth lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown Drive on the run from inside his own five and the return man showing great vision to be able to find some space and put his team in much better field position he wants to start this drive with a pass got him downfield and he was Off to the Races and he gets it to the 45 well how about the offense setting that play up we've seen earlier in the game a couple shorter just trying to suck those safeties closer to the line of scrimmage anticipating that they would get an opportunity to take a shot they called the perfect play at the perfect time right [Applause] there he'll come out throwing on first down fires complete on the Crosser he get it down to the 35 before he stopped 10yd pickup on the play and it's a first down and now a fresh set of downs for this offense going up top on first down and to the Endz Zone he's got it touchdown awesome execution nice job going down the field scoring the touchdown but only half of the work is done under 2 minutes got to go for the two-point conversion here pick your play Let's get ready to work [Music] what a big play here as they try to tie it up with the two in the waning moments looking to throw got his man quickly into the end zone for the two-point conversion and we are all tied up here in the fourth here comes the kickoff as we are all tied up in the fourth quarter on the move from inside his SP didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 you will Monroe has it back in the offense ready to go to work they go to the draw FES his man out time out on the field and we've got a Dandy all tied up waiting the fourth biggest Drive of the game right now as the clock is winding down a chance to win it before overtime they're working that left side a quick tackle made but he's got ready for the first [Music] down back to throw it's booty quarterback moving not much working there it'll be second and nine trying to get everybody set with the clock still [Music] running on second down wants to throw just about had another one picked off they have been way too Reckless with the football throwing it away three times already third and long and he'll try to throw for it a strike downfield and they were looking for a chunk play and they got it the explosive picks up more than 30 and this defense is going to have their hands full because they're going to need to be comfortable with guys one-on-one on islands in the perimeter of the field and they're just going to have to make better plays than what we saw right there they knew this offense was going to try to be aggressive got to need better effort in the back end for this defense moving forward after that huge play they've now got it inside the 30 it's first and 10 timeout called by by the offense clock stopped with 21 seconds left and the warhawks have it with a first and [Applause] 10 the give to the running back from the shotgun and the field goal unit is on the field the holder will kneel at the 33 a 43 yd attempt for the win what a disappointment no good but a hold on see what this is [Applause] about you must protect the kicker when he's in a defenseless position like that that penalty is going to give the offense a first down nerves of Steel right down the Boulevard on the game-winning Chip Shot [Music] [Music] [Music]
