are you ready to uncover Charlottesville well that's what we're doing today but today we're going to go up North and do a map tour of the northern section of the Charlottesville area so if you're considering living in Charlottesville if you're considering moving here maybe you're already in the area but you're wanting to have a change grab your snack grab your coffee grab a pop grab a soda and we're going exploring let's dive [Music] in thanks for joining me so here's what we're talking about today I know first off I fully acknowledge to those who watch me that I talk too much and I have warned you that I am who I am not professional not AI so this is who I am but I'm going to try to be short and sweet and we're going to talk about and take a map tour of the northern section of the Charlottesville area so the first thing I'm going to do is I'm actually going to pull up and share my screen with you all right the first view of the area is that very very general overview as a refresher this in general is the Charlottesville area okay everything around it where's my cursor there's my cursor everything around that area is Alam Marl County but when we're talking and discussing and visiting and touring and viewing it's all Charlottesville I live in albam maral County but I have a Charlottesville zip code so that is something that you just want to recognize it's not City specific or City proper it's the Charlottesville area so when I'm talking about the northern section it's actually more so the Northeast section I'm going to move this down here so right here you see Green Brier Barracks Road you've heard me talk about those but this L well this big Gray Line Blue Line right here is 29 Route 29 major Road our main through fair and that is you can see it it had a long night and it's sort of Leaning so with this is let me get my crayons here so this is the area we're actually talking about today and where I want to take us on a map tour okay so we're not really talking about City specific but we're talking about this Northern so the first thing couple things I want to talk about and show you make sure you you see make sure I can see him too so I put on my glasses is so the one name you've heard me say time and time again Green Brier it's a very sought-after neighborhood a very established neighborhood it was actually part of alar County but it got so this neighborhood of Greenbrier this Green Brier area was actually albamar County and the City of Charlottesville annexed it so it is actually all that is all part of the city of Charlottesville but I am going to blow this up just a tad so that we can actually talk about it so start we're going to start from the south and go up and I want you to see what this looks like so one of the places that I often get asked about and often want people want to be near close to have access to is Whole Foods Market we have we are not lacking grocery stores in and around this area I think we have well over probably at least eight name brands and several off Brands uh so privately owned such as foods of all nation and reads Supermarket if you move into the area reads is a hidden gym especially if you're looking for a real butcher but that's a whole another issue or side Stu Whole Foods right there now the other thing uh with Whole Foods right here this is actually hydraulic road that that Gray Line here let me let me let me make it an orange line that line right here is hydraulic red right there is Trader Joe's that's the other one that I often get request to be near the third one happens to be right up here Costco so this area let me clear this out this area so 29 this area right in here is actually Stonefield shopping center let's actually go down and visit that shall we so here is the more of actual view instead of more of a map view so I am going to go in just a here cuz I want you to see I mean let's face it if you are looking at moving to the area you sort of want to know um and I'm also going to do another driving tour because quite honestly a lot of people love that because they felt like they had been here and they felt much more comfortable when they came to visit so as you can see Green Brier neighborhood huge here's the elementary school well over here so this is Whole Foods okay then right here right across from 29 you actually have Trader Joe's so that gives you even better idea now if I stop let me clear those off so Whole Foods Trader Joe's these two lines 29 North 29 South that's all they are this very large area that holds Trader Joe's and Costco right there that is Stonefield shopping center so that's probably one of our newest shopping centers it really just got filled in uh postco it's been in place but the shops were not all filled in this is going to be Stonefield shopping center has as you can see Trader Joe's and Costco but it also has several restaurants there's a hotel there there's also a theater I believe it's a Regal 16 is in this area as well this is going to be major major shopping you've got over here on the other side there's another shopping area it is a little more it's as you can see right here it's called simal it has a couple of places to shop but it is not as uh active cuz it's a much older one for that we were going right on up let's see if we go one more oo there we go so now you can really see it so this here is Northrup Grumman which is actually going to be a major employer it is one of the uh they hold mil military contracts for our government that's what northr Grumman does so moving on up I'm going to pop back up so you could see up here so this is going to be a major area for shopping for groceries uh for IND hisory remember the city of Charlottesville is south of all of this but this is all going to be a major general shopping area you're going to have uh some of the older neighborhoods off on the sides all of this is going to be predominantly shopping okay so that's what that is now once we get up here now we are bumping up do you see down here do you see what that says doesn't say 29 it says semal Trail so this is one of the Prime examples of yes a road can change its name for no real reason here at simal Trail other places it's called other things but it's all 29 North so as you can see lots of shopping some tucked away neighborhoods here and there but coming up here this is a big well right now it's a big isore this is our Charlottesville Fashion Square Mall it is now defunct quite honestly but the really cool part about it is so one thing is Belk you can see Belk right here Belk is a department store and that is still in place Home Depot has bought I think it's like 2/3 of this huge structure and they're going to be putting in a Home Depot lucky you you'll have Home Depot and you'll have Lowe's been here so now again 29 lots of Industry this is RO Rio Road okay so that's a major this is a that really funky underpass if you're going 29 it's like you're going under r Road and if you're going Rio Road then it's it's almost like a bridge so going up as you can see there's Aldi right there my office is right over here okay Avenue we start getting into the cars this is actually another shopping center has Chick-fil-A Tropical Smoothie it actually also has Kroger grocery store that's what this is right here TJ Maxx Sierra Trading Burlington Coat Factory so this a dollar store so this is all a shopping area here's the Lowe's now going now here this is one of the neighborhoods that I think is so sweet and so cute Woodbrook as you can see one way in one way out and then it's like a giant lollipop and what is in the center an elementary school so this is one of those areas if you want your kids to walk to elementary school Woodbrook might be a really good place for you to live most of these houses were built in the late 50s up until about the late mid to late 70s so some of them have been updated and are super cute and some are in need of love you can get into that neighborhood so pretty easily for around that 4 to 6,000 see some older design some split levels some try levels things like that Woodbrook is not HOA because it is older all right moving right along this is bowling this is our bowling alley now here's the other thing I want to point out to you look over here on the side that's ryana truly we we are among we Charlottesville is Charlottesville is tucked between the mountains the Blue Ridge the the ryana it all affects our daily life whether it is snow removal or whether it is weather patterns in general because of our location we are greatly influenced by both the mountains and the water all right so off that here's Bolero this again 29 North and then all right so now we are up in this area this is all cars Brook remember I told you and here's Woodbrook remember I told you if you've seen one of my videos talking about carbrook carbrook is an original Charlottesville neighborhood I grew up in carbrook it we when we moved here it was out in the middle of a freaking cow patty field and we had shifflet gas station across from 29 and that was about it the closest thing to us Beyond a couple of delapidated Barns and a broken down Drive theater was Barracks Road so that tells you how much it has built up here carbrook feeds into so many neighborhoods so you can see here's cars Brook but then look at all of these neighborhoods and I'm going to pop back over this way such individual um things that attract people cars Brook we go back if we go down okay so zooming in a little bit more look at look at this area okay this is cars Brook Drive Right This is cars Brook Drive look at these large lot sizes actually you can barely see the lot sizes because all the mature grown trees so these lot honestly you're looking at you know it is not uncommon to have a half an acre okay so this is the entrance to carbook this is 29 North this is 29 South and this is the main entrance to carbrook so just look at that look how if you want mature trees large lot a real privacy within your own community cars Brook could be a perfect setting for you these lots are easily mostly a quarter of an quarter of an acre and up some of them go up to several Acres but this is cars Brook Drive and cars Brook Drive I'm going to pop out a little bit here cars Brook Drive then leads into see this is cars Brook Drive this is getting into places such as Fieldbrook West Morland rain tree dun Laura this is still Meadow we just viewed still Meadow in one of our best subdivisions for I think it was for kids that kids would love so you can see see the difference see all this the these are all houses back here still Meadows goes in has a front entrance and then it has a back entrance that goes over into North fields and things like that but here's their swimming pool you can see great areas they back up again to the ryana river so all of this well established this is why I came back here because I loved it you know as a kid you always wonder and you don't appreciate it but you know what I as a kid you don't always appreciate it but I grew up in carbrook right up in this area here we would ride our bikes we go down Indian Springs private road we play in the woods because those houses these are uh more estate siiz houses with very large lots lots of water space in between we'd go fishing there's one street light that street light was right here and actually that's really actually now that I'm talking about that that one street light is where my husband proposed to me but that's a whole another story but you could it's just a really great area I'd ride my bike down cars Brook and I go down to Fairview and go to swim team practice it still today when I leave and I come to work because I actually still live over in this area I still see kids riding their bikes waiting for the school buses I it's just a really great laidback area that if you if you that's the kind of childhood you want for your kids cars brook or one of these areas but this is why you have to call me there's you're not going to know these areas you're just not and some areas are not right for everybody and not necessarily but for example one area B might be more of a very shall we say keeping up with the Joneses kind of area but if that's not you and you want a more laidback free range parenting blah blah blah maybe area a is more your fit and this is why you need to call me so that we can make sure that we connect on the right house for you okay so now we're backing out of cars Brook and going back on to 29 one of the things they did when they increase so now 29 especially in this area is anywhere from three four lanes but they also put sidewalks on both sides of 29 now is it the prettiest walk no but you know what I really appreciate it because honestly when I was growing up on Indian Springs that would have been really nice cuz and there's no hope I would have walked on 29 but that would have been really nice to be able to just walk down here and then walk over and this is Walmart right here so even though you are totally protected and you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere in this area you you can see the schlep factor is nothingness this is Walmart but it would be really easy my preferred Starbucks right there and that's why I say it's you know it's it just depends what your lifestyle is and what you want to do um this is going to be up and Tuck behind so here's again Walmart Sam's Club so it's just up the hill this is going to be a new subdivision called something height what is it Victorian height that is what this all this dirt is but that is Virginia red mud remember we don't play with Virginia mud Virginia red clay uh that's what that is so this is a great little back path for Bur Mar and it's Scenic and beautiful it and it I prefer to drive on it as opposed to driving on 29 because you know what 29 can be for lack of any term a show in the mornings people are coming in it is a constant flow all four lanes are filled with people coming into work they're coming into to Charlottesville they're coming into uba they're coming into uh all the job JS predominantly are in located closer into Charlottesville or near Charlottesville this is a UVA Medical Center so again you're going to have medical care really intertwined with everywhere we are moving on up here's Brook Hill Commons one of our newest master plan communities and we've talked about that uh and we can see exactly how it lands this is Polo Grounds road so all of this is Brook Hill Commons you can see how large it is that's why it's going to be over multiple years and it has a variety Brook Hill has villows it has Town Homes it has single family homes it has quite the variety now the next thing coming up here is actually so this I want to capture yes I do so 29 here is Forest Lake South I know you've heard me talk about Forest Lake South actually Forest Lakes in general there's Forest Lakes North and South and I'll show you why they are connected 29 here's Forest Lake South this is all Forest Lakes a fairly large uh neighborhood but again you know what let's pop down in there and you can see what look at all the trees look at all the I mean beautiful you do have yard space you do have uh room to move these are not handing your neighbor uh sugar across the window pane kind of thing but this is 29 Forest Lakes South and this is where it connects to Forest Lakes North and you can see right here two of the almor County School Systems Holly me Elementary and Lakeside Middle right there in the neighborhood what is this neighborhood that's Holly meat so three neighborhoods actually it's two um Forest Lakes and Holly if you want kids to be able to ride their bikes walk to school have access and great amenities maybe those are neighborhoods that you want to consider why is it called Forest Lakes because obviously there are a bunch of Lakes right there 99 going in we just visited Holly meat here's Forest Lakes very large subdivision here is going to be the Holly Town Center which is one of our newest shopping areas and as you can see it has target tar it has crumble cookie it has what is it the bunt take place they just open so if you if you need a and we actually have one of those there's a Harris Teeter is one of our grocery stores there's coals so this is all next to these subdivisions right here so that would be Brook Hill that would be Holly me and Forest Lakes now next up right here is a shopping center that's tucked into Forest Lakes North there's a Food Lion there's a dive connections Dive Center which is not made for these Lakes these are very small uh Lakes most here uh most of our Lakes are Springfed so they may be blocked to create a lake but they're they're not like fed with rain water and stuff they're actually spring FR Springfed lakes that is all right there let's go down one more and you can see so this see right there's food line here's that very large Holly me Town Center if you are coming into town and you're bringing your pet Staybridge is a very new hotel that accepts pets cats and dogs so just FYI over here these are town home communities the Ryan Homes Holly me town homes so these are these have been built these have been sold these are being built these back up to Holly Meat Town Center right here so this is where we just were so pulling back so you can get an overview here's what I want to point out here is Cho charlottesv Alam Marl airport that is right off of 29 right behind the Holly me Town Center so that's why I wanted you to see it but it's also in close proximity to all of these neighborhoods as well now we're going to move up some and I want you to see the next one's up you're going to start getting into much smaller neighborhoods and one off Street you know one off on off of main roads or off of Roads housing not so much but couple that you will find are going to be very sweet Camelot neighborhood single family homes uh smaller footprint most are like between 1,200 and 2400 Square ft no HOA very salt of the earth just working class and fabulous Brierwood has built up with some new town homes and the reason for that is is because all right so now I've pulled up for the street view so you can see so here is Camelot and here's Brierwood so that street I was showing you going along here remember piny mountain is a is a location tag it is not a neighborhood not a neighborhood um but but where it shows right there is actually going to be the the base military base and it's not like a full-blown military base it's like like a subbase a baby base uh but it holds Department of Defense National Ground Intelligence and a lot of contractor positions the other up thing up here 29 North right here's Emerson Emerson is another one of our um military contractor manufacturers so we we have the manufacturers we have a lot of military a lot of Contracting military all throughout Charlottesville so if that's your thing now you know where you are all right so here we are again show here's 29 without hitting all the stuff Camelot super cute neighborhood briwood an older neighborhood and right all of these These are actually brand new town homes we see a lot of folks who work at ryana station is the name of the base they actually live in those Town Homes because it doesn't matter what the weather is or anything else you could walk there in 15 minutes let alone Drive in two because it's a stoplight right here you would just pop over so you truly it's right there so this is all pretty much Rana station if when we go back out and we're going up 29 you can see the Green Space starts to really kick in again because these neighborhoods are getting smaller and fewer that's all it is this is pretty much so Ruckersville is going to be Green County right there that's how close it is that's why a lot of people who are at Rana station prefer to live in Green County it's cheaper and you get more green space and they have less uh restrictions things like dogs and whatnot so a lot of people prefer to live up in Green County uh Pine Mountain again please don't ask go see one of my recent videos it's a madeup it's not it's not a made up it's a place it's not a neighborhood not a neighborhood Earlville very nice area part of alal County so that is that's it that's where we just toured we just went all the way from Charlottesville which is around this area all the way up to the Green County Line and now you've seen and this gives you an even better view because now you can also see where how we are nestled into the mountains and the Parkway and everything else this is 29 major through thoroughfare and there's a lot going on this is is why I want you to call me because there is a lot going on there are new developments there are places that if you want a lot of privacy whatever it is but this is why you got to give me a call so I encourage you to drop me an email give me a call shoot me a text often times I am out with clients so if I can't pick up the phone do know that I will try to get
