now look we all know Las Vegas in its Short history of professional sports has already built and established a winning culture I mean you have the Las Vegas Aces winning back-to-back championships you have the Vegas golden knights winning the Stanley Cup and the quickest NHL Franchise to do that now you have this unv football team that's looking to be a part of that winning culture and establish that history right here at a legion stadium and look after a dominating performance against the University of Houston last Saturday the hype is real ladies and gentlemen and is the rebels home opener here at Allegan Stadium taking on the Utah Tech Trailblazers who have not won a football game since last October now opening drive it just took the rebels three plays to get 64 yards down the field and find the endzone as it is Jaden Thomas with nothing but Green in front of him and gets unov on the board early Utah responded right back with a 74 yd thre playay drive that led to a touchdown but the rebels and that go offense takes over from here Brandon Maran opened up the Playbook and you really start to see what Matthew sluka can do for this offense I mean sluka and Ricky White look like Patriots Tom Brady and Randy Moss Out There Ricky White had three touchdown catches with 111 yards and just the first half and oh I forgot to mention he also had a block punt the star wide out is doing it all and Matthew saluca finished the first half with two passing touchdowns with 161 yards in the air and one rushing touchdown with 70 yard yards on the ground and if you're wondering why I'm telling you these guys halftime stats it's because the rebels were up 44 to7 at the half and took most of their starters out for the rest of the game but the rebels put up a dominating home opening performance for a final score of 72- 14 now postgame here is Ricky White as he commented on playing for the Special Teams and his block punt check it out man coach St does a great job each and every week um just emphasizing the small thing like I said it's always a small things that allows us to you know be a better team and um just execute more so um I took over you know the things that he taught me last year and you know I applied it to my game and I feel like you know it's not going to be the last pun I block so I want to thank coach for that all right we're going to end it there thing yeah the rebels kicking their season Off 2 and 0 and hey it is the first time since 1999 that the rebels have started 2 and 0 25 years ago crazy right but hey for the rebels it does not get easier from here as next week they will have to take on the Kansas Jayhawks who are currently ranked 19th in the nation so the boys will have to fly all the way out to Kansas and look that is going to be an absolute big test for Coach Odum as because like he said during the whole offseason they want to be ranked and be noticed on a national scale so absolutely big game for Barry and the UNI football team but hey for now I'm Armani lingo reporting for Vegas sports today and we're signing off here from allegian Stadium
